  • Imovie 2011 error - 108 when exporting

    Hi there,
    i have a macbook air 2011, 128gb (60 gb free) 4gb memory, mac os 10 7.3 lion.
Don’t have TimeMachine (didn’t even set up TimeMachine for the first time)
When trying to export a 720p file (regular export) in imovie
    (Estimated file size 2.6gb, 30 fps, H.264)
The mac reaches the last ten minutes (after working two hours) of export and then stops and says cannot complete project: error – 108 occurred.
Imovie can export fine a large size movie but not higher.
    already tried:
    1. duplicating project, renaming project
    2. tweaking with “Lion cache cleaner” (repair permissions, optimize RAM & Files)
    3. Shutting down
Next logical step would be to clean the cache, no?
    Does anyone have a solution?
    TIA

As a guess, try right-clicking on your Event and see if it allows you to Optimize Media. If it does, choose Optimize - Full.
    Your export should now work.

  • Share error 108

I have video segment I use quite a bit. when I tried to edit a segment out of it and share it as a master file, I got a 108 error
Since the migration to 10.1.1, I have orginized my videos into logical libraries.  So far this is the only file I seem to have issues with.  I have imported from its avi source before and have a rendered 4444 prores copy.  I get the same error with both versions. I do not have the issue with the raw .mod file.  I have re imported it from both the source avi and the 4444 copies and get the same error.
I just I just did the new update to 10.1.1 the other day. I think that is where the issue started.  Is there an easy way to back out of the update?
i am sort of new to Macs and this is sort of frustrating.
    Thanks Russ

  • Imovie 11 , error -108

I made a project, about 9 minutes long, I'm trying to export it to iTunes but it doesnt work. It will always break down and say “error -108“ same if I try to upload it to quicktime or facebook. please help me.

I M also facing this same problem but i think i have figured out some other way to finish it. It is too long and tiresome but at least gives better result then awful MP4 quality.
Its true that it is RAM problem and it comes due to shortage of RAM. One can use Activity monitor to see RAM usage but i used FreeRam software ( u can get it free from App store). It used to crash when my free memory used to almost 0. I have MacBook pro with 4 GB Ram and 500 GB hard disk. My movie was only 3 min long and had all pictures and text in it. It gave 108 error again and again. I tried to check the limit of this error. It successfully converted when video length was around 1:30. It might be different on urs. So i divided into 2 parts. Exported in 1080p HD quality. Then in new project imported those two videos again, added one after another and then it exported successfully in 720p instead of 1080p. But its still way better than MP4 quality. However, problem is to adjust ur backgroud music so that they perfectly unite again. I know it will be hard for those who have very long movie but if its that imp than you should go for it. I think problem comes when you add pictures or text to the videos. If there are only videos then it does fine or maybe not if you do some advanced editing. It worked fine for me and took less than 20 MB RAM.
Or other solution is buy more RAM and install it if compatible with you mac.
    I hope this helps.
PS . Do restart your comp and see to that your free memory is around 2.50 GB atleast. Rest do whatever you want to but just start your exporting after getting your free memory around 2.50 GB

  • IMovie Share Error - Please help

    Hi
I am desperate for help. I am not technically minded so please answer like you are talking to a stupid person.
I have made an iMovie using 3 short clips but when I go to share I can only save as full quality. I need to be able to save as quicktime for website.
When I try to compress to anything other than full quality it is coming up with an error - 50, "please make sure your project disk has write permission and that you have enough disk space"
I have 18gb of disk space and I have read and write enabled on 'movies' (is this what the error message means).
I'm completely lost with this and have been looking for the solution all day. I realise its probably simple but Im going mad here and need help.
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Cshaw and welcome!
Your problem is not uncommon and has cropped up a number of times.
Try using the search function by entering, say, 'movie to web'.

  • IMovie 08 Share-iDVD error -108 *Help Quick!!

I am really in a pickle! I spent upwards of 48 hours creating a slideshow of still pictures in iMovie for my wedding in 2 weeks. This is my first time using either iMovie or iDVD. I had no luck getting iDVD to customize the slideshow as I wanted it to look, so a friend suggested iMovie. My project is now finished and I am attempting to burn it to a DVD for my DJs to play. When I do Share> iDVD, it processes the project for about 2 minutes then says it was "unable to prepare the project due to an error (-108)."
    Can anyone help PLEASE!!
    THANKS!

    Hi
    a. Isn't it so that You in Share select Media Browser. Then in iDVD import from here.
    b. iMovie'08 & 09 are not the optimal tools for DVD making. Due to that they discard every second line
in interlaced video to DVD resulting in less sharp picture.
    I use
    • iMovie HD6, FotoMagico™, FinalCut Express or FinalCut Pro - to get best possibly result.

Are your event clips in h.264? If so, you can solve this by Right clicking on your Event Name and choose "Optimize Media". You can choose Full for 1080P or Large for 960P according to your preference.
After you have optimized your Event, you should be able to Share with no problem.

-108 mean you are running out of (free) RAM.
Try restarting the computer just prior to sharing. That frees up RAM.

  • Error -108 in imovies.   What does it mean?

error -108 in imovies.   What does it mean?
I have trying ti 'finish' my imovie....but it gets almost to the end and then this error messgae!
    What does it mean?

You're triggering a memory-handling bug in the 32-bit CoreGraphics framework. Unfortunately there may be no easy workaround. According to a report, you may be able to Export QuickTime and then export again from QuickTime Player, which (unlike iMovie) is a 64-bit application.

  • Help! Error (-108) in iMovie and crashing a lot

I have a 60 second video that I am trying to publish.  It will save about 3/4 then I get an error (-108) message.  Also, my imovie crashes A LOT.  I'm working on another 3 minute project, and it crashes after trying to modify some clips.
    What's the solution?

    Hi,
You can try this: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
    Hope this helps.

  • IMovie 08  v 7.1.1 - Can't export - Error -108 - Help Please!

    Please can anyone help?
I'm a new Mac user and have just imported and edited my first iMovie. I tried to export it (assuming I could then burn it to a DVD?) but never got that far.
I'm attempting to export it as a 'large movie' to Finder.
I get an error telling me it has been 'unable to prepare the movie for publishing due to an error (error code -108)'
Please has anyone got any ideas if I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks!
    D

Looking up error -108, I got a lot of hits on goggle about memory errors returning error -108.
On this hunch, I simply rebooted my Mac Pro.
I opened iMovie 7.1.1, and exported the same file, no problem.
So it must be a memory leak or some sort of memory related issue. (I have 4 gigs of ram in my machine.

  • IMovie export problem (error -108)

Just wondering who out there is experiencing problems with finalising and exporting projects in iMovie 11. I may have found one reason for this problem. I've been playing around with the video effects and when I export a simple 20 second clip with using the "Hard Light" effect I have problems exporting. I changed the effect to something else, "Vignette", for example, and it exports fine! Has anyone else found this or maybe if you're having problems, try to export the movie without having used the effect. It would be interesting to hear if there's a problem with using the "Hard Light" effect. I've just bought the latest MacBook Pro 13" 4GB 2.4GHz with Lion 10.7.3.
    Thanks

  • IMovie 10.0.2 fixes share errors

iMovie 10.0.2 has fixed my share errors. I had tried to share a 1 hour 40 minute movie to a file about 20 times without success on iMovie 10.0 and 10.0.1, on two different computers (including a new Mac Pro (Late 2013)), and always got the -50 error. The first time I tried on iMovie 10.0.2 it completed without a hitch.

I got my Macbook in Nov 2013 and the imovie 10.0.1 wont allow share anything. I had my movie project around 50 mins for months. Really wanna Apple to fix it. Was happy they updated it to 10.0.2 but still got disappointed as it is still not allowing me to export my movie out. still the same error -50. do you have any suggestion that what i could do to fix it? or what exactly you did after you upgraded it to 10.0.2? did you reinstall the imovie and restart the macbook? my project is holding for too long.
