I couldn't export my movie because "Insufficient access privileges for operation " - Any suggestions?
    THANKS!

I am also interested in this answer. After researching this answer and question, and since no one has answered it yet, here are the findings of some self conducted research that I did.
    1) After deleting the movie file from my iTunes>iTunes Music>Movies folder, there was no change to the project event in iMovie nor any changes to the files in the Movies>iMovie Sharing folder.
    2) Likewise, when I deleted the files in the Movies>iMovie Sharing folder, there were no changes in the iMovie project event.
    3) In addition to 1 and 2 above, neither of these deletions affected my MobileMe movie publications. either. Something else to note, in both instances, iMovie still showed the movie files (both mobile and HD movie files) as published to iTunes and MobileMe.
After performing the above tests and documenting my findings, I then republished the iMovie movies to iTunes in Mobile, Medium, and Large files sizes. Here's the interesting part.... When doing this republishing I found redundant files in both the iTunes>iTunes Music>Movies folder and the Movies>iMovie Sharing folder. Furthermore, I did delete the project from iMovie and chose the option to "Delete" instead of "Unpublish and Delete" and it did not remove any files from the Hard Drive except the movie event in iMovie itself.
CONCLUSION: This is my best guess or hypothesis is that the Movies>iMovie Sharing folder is simply a backup of the movies that are published through iMovie. This does, however, create a Hard Drive space issue for those with limited storage capacity.
I would still like someone to confirm my findings and clarify why iMovie would create this additional file copy in the extra directory. It has to be for something more than just an added file backup I'm sure, but just don't know for what exactly.
Any other clarifications from anyone/everyone would be greatly appreciated.

You will get better results if you use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option and then drag the movie from the Movies pane of the Media Browser in iDVD onto the menu window.
Also I suggest you use this workflow which I learned from Bengt:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Crystal Report Application Sharing Issue

We are receiving the following error message when trying to open up Crystal Reports from within our application.
Unable to load Crystal Report user function dll:
       e:\Program Files\Centricity Practice Solution 90\Client\mlcrwlib2.dll.
The report may not run correctly.
Here is an explanation of our current environment:
We are utilizing Crystal Reports XI R2 SP6 using the ActiveX Designer control, craxddrt.dll, to open up Crystal Reports within a  Visual Basic project.  I did not see a VB forum so I'm posting here in .NET.
We are including the 4 Crystal Merge Modules in our InstallShield Project when installing our application so we feel we are installing correctly, but there appears to be a Crystal Reports sharing issue with another application.  When we attempt to open up our Crystal Reports from within the application, we get the error message above.  If we click OK to the error message our report opens.  I would like to eliminate the error message, but I'm not sure why we are even calling the file in the error above.
I'm assuming that the other application has created a user function or something that is registered within Crystal Reports, but we do not have access to or cannot load it.   We have not been able to reach anyone from the other software application company to ask questions so I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as to what is going on here.
I have verified that the Business Objects folder was created with the run-time files needed to run Crystal Reports.  I also see a previous version of Crystal Reports run-time files on this server since a Crystal Report folder exists.  I have utilized Process Monitor to see that the correct craxddrt.dll is being opened, but I cannot figure out how the file in the error message above is being called.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Marlon,
I worked on a Centricity (GE Medical) issue with the Report Designer Component (RDC) a number of months ago. As part of my troubleshooting I discovered that their application uses an atypical deployment of the Crystal runtime files for their Centricity application. The "short" version is that the way they implemented the RDC would not have been supported by SAP Support.
I was never able to resolve the Centricity issue, but proved that their implementation of the RDC was the root cause of the issue. The mlcrwlib2.dll is a Centricity DLL that seems to control how/where the craxdrt.dll / craxddrt.dll file is loaded (location A in one work stream in their application, location B in another work stream in their application).
One of the side effects of this DLL is that it "took over" how the craxdrt.dll would load for any other application that also used the RDC (craxdrt.dll / craxddrt.dll). I proved the issue by sending them a simple sample application that was written in CPP. Using CPP allowed us to eliminate the need to reference any other dependencies besides the Crystal runtime files. This sample application consistently failed with a reference to their mlcrwlib2.dll - which I knew wasn't referenced in my CPP sample. At the time Centricity wasn't able to explain why their mlcrwlib2.dll was being picked up by my sample. I expect that their issue would be resolved once they discovered why mlcrwlib2.dll loaded erroneously, but they were still working on the answer to that question.
Because we couldn't determine how and why the mlcrwlib2.dll was behaving as it did I'd suggest not trying to use a "side by side" installation of another RDC application. I know it's not much of an answer, but it might help explain why all the regular troubleshooting steps aren't working for you.

  • Apple TV Home Sharing Issue (SOLVED for me)

I had been having problems with Home Sharing while other functions (Netflix etc) worked fine.  My setup is wireless using Time Capsule.  My network was "open" (password not needed).  I had tried everything from recycling my DSL modem and Time Capsule and turning Home Sharing off and on (on my computer and the Apple TV) without success.
My Time Capsule has the ability to connect at 5GHz or 2.4GHz.  Additionally, my networks may or may not be password protected.  I finally changed to a network that required a password and my Home Shareing issue ended.  Since that network change everything works fine.

I was going crazy trying to play music from my Itunes library and watch slideshows of my photos as, once started, the application would quit within a minute of starting. I called Apple Support and tried everything they sughgested - restart, restore etc. Finally, I turned my router off and let it reset. When I turned it back on. everything worked. I could have saved a lot of aggravation had I been instructed to do so originally.

  • Movies iMovie Sharing iTunes surely duplicating iTunes on HDD?

I'm trying to free up space on my internal drive. In an ideal world I'd keep the really important stuff on the internal drive (as its faster and I regularly back up the internal drive).
I've successfully managed to relocate my iTunes music folder to an external drive, but in the process learnt a few things I'm now confused about.
When I 'share' an iMovie project to iTunes, it appears in my iTunes music folder. However, it also appears in Movies>>iMovie Sharing>>iTunes. Surely this is duplicating files on my internal drive? I have several long HD home movies and so my drive is filling up quickly.
    Q. Do I need to keep both versions of the files?
    Q. Is there a way to move this iMovie Sharing file to an external drive while keeping the events and projects on my internal drive without upsetting iMovie?
    Many thanks for any tips,
    Dan.

I'm still struggling with this, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Deleting movie files in iMovie Sharing - iTunes -folder

When I share a project to iTunes a movie file is created not only in Music>iTunes>iTunes Music>Movies but also in Movies>iMovie Sharing>iTunes. If I then delete a project, no movie file is deleted. In iTunes I can delete a movie file. But then the movie file in iMovie Sharing>iTunes still exists. Is it ok just to manually (using Finder) delete the movie files in iMovie Sharing>iTunes I don't need any more or is there a logic behind this behaviour I don't understand.

This is because with iTunes you have the option of copying files into the iTunes library, or leaving them where they are. iMovie doesn't have anyway to know which option you're using. All iMovie does is create the file in the "iMovie Sharing" folder then alert iTunes to import it.
Once the import is done, if you have iTunes copying content into the library, you are free to delete them from the sharing folder since they are duplicates.
BTW: You will still have yet another copy contained within the project itself which is used for iLife sharing. Sharing one movie for example, in three sizes, actually puts 9 copies of the movie on your hard drive! Three copies for each of the three sizes. It can add up quickly.

  • Can I delete movies in iMovie Sharing folder?

Hi.  I am using iMovie 11 with OS X Lion on a MacBook Pro.  When I complete a Project in iMovie, I publish it to iTunes using the Share > iTunes command from the main iMovie menu.  I have noticed that this creates two copies of the movie, one within iMovie in the Movies > iMovie Sharing > iTunes folder (let's call this location A), and the other in the iTunes > iTunes Media > Movies folder (location B).  Therefore, it seems that there are two copies of every finished movie on my computer.  Question: After publishing the movie to iTunes, can I delete the copy in location A?  Will this have any negative consequences if I later choose to edit the Project and re-publish the movie to iTunes?
The movie in location A is on my internal drive, and the movie in location B is on an external drive (where all my iTunes media content is located). I fully back up both drives to another external drive 2-3 times per week, so I do not need the movie in location A for back-up purposes.
By the way, when I sync the movie to my iPad (from iTunes) or watch it on my Apple TV (again, from iTunes), I believe iTunes is pulling the content from location B.
    Thank you

  • Imovie storage issues

Alright, I'm undertaking a HUGE imovie project. I've got 37 or so 2-hour Hi-8 tapes from my camera. I've already got 10 or so on my computer in imovie, formatted. After I edit them in imovie, I export them to idvd to burn them onto dvd's. Now, I"ve noticed that the imovie files are around 25 gig a file. (25G for 2 hours or so of movie - give or take a few minutes)
Is there a way I can compress or store these files so I don't have to buy an external HD?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Both DVD's and especially CD's are a terrible choice to backup movie files because they are too slow and too small...What you do't want as well is to rely on the DVD as an archive - it is compressed MPEG-2 and is lossy and hard to re-edit. $5 DV tapes are a great digital format to save forever.
There's different points of view about these issues, so I'll add a few cents.
    1. We don't think we can assume tapes will "last forever" any more than any other storage medium. (If pressed, I think I'd put my money on DVDs outlasting tapes, but it's just a guess.)
    2. In ten to twenty years, I suspect we will still have drives available that can play DVDs but not camcorders that can play tapes. That may make it impossible to exercise tapes, re-record them, or capture them to a computer.
    3. DVDs are cheap and easy to use. At less than 50 cents per disk for 4+GB, they are actually cheaper than tapes. And backup software like Retrospect makes archiving easy too. You just insert the disks when asked.
When archiving data files, I like that there are no iMovie export issues. (I never entirely trust an export to tape until I play it from start to finish.)
    4. There's nothing inherently lossy about DVDs. Yes, an MPEG-2 DVDs created by iDVD is compressed so it's lossy, but a backup of an iMovie HD project as data files to a DVD suffers no loss of quality.
    5. I tend to use multiple backup media. Drives, tapes, MPEG-2 DVDs and data file DVDs. Multiple copies of each, actually. But I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy. I get uncomfortable putting all my backups in one basket.
Unfortunately, there is no one ideal archive solution. No medium lasts forever, no media hardware lasts forever, and there's no guarantee the software we use to create/retrieve an archive -- or for that matter play the iMovie project or the QuickTime movie -- will run in Mac OS XXV.
Most likely our data storage media will change dramatically in twenty years. Soon all our iMovie projects will probably fit on the head of a pin. Hopefully the archive solution we adopt today won't cause us to jab our fingers with the pin.

  • Potential Solution: Home Sharing issues with iTunes 10.6

TL;DR: On a hunch, I changed the power settings of the ATV to never sleep. Since then, I have not had any issues. Granted, it's only been a couple of days, but it seems to have done the trick.
    Folks,
Wanted to share my experience with Home Sharing issues after upgrading to iTunes 10.6. These forums a rampant with reports of the issue, so I'll defer to the search field above if you don't know what I am talking about. In short: iTunes 10.6 seems to have busted Home Sharing.
For those who do, here's what I found:
For some reason, is saw a very large number of established sessions from my Apple TV (ATV) into port 3689 on my Mac. This is the port that ATV uses to query iTunes to see what's available via Home Sharing (e.g.: what movies, songs, pictures, etc are available for display on the ATV).
A sniffer cap and some observation of the power indicator on the ATV indicated that while it was sleeping, the ATV was querying iTunes. It would power on for a sec (wake on LAN, maybe?), issue some queries, then sleep.
When this happened, the TCP sessions created were never town down. As such, I would eventually see 200+ established sessions on port 3689. I don't know exactly how many it took to make this happen, but when I saw this, iTunes stopped accepting new connections.
Of course, bouncing iTunes would remedy the issue for a while, but it would return.
On a hunch, I changed the power settings of the ATV to never sleep. Since then, I have not had any issues. Granted, it's only been a couple of days, but it seems to have done the trick.
I would be interested to hear if it works for others.
    Happy viewing,
    Chris

    Thanks for posting this.
I've been searching for an option of how to approach this problem.
I picked up the new AppleTV when it was released, but it has made iTunes fairly useless from a Home Sharing standpoint.
I also observed the massive number of TCP connections being opened against iTunes, but never closed.
As expected, I could manually kill a few of these connections, and then could connect again, even without closing iTunes.
I performed most of my testing with Windows 7, but while troubleshooting I had the same issue with iTunes on an old Mac Mini I had sitting around.
I will try your solution, which makes a lot of sense, but it would be nice if Apple fixed the real problem.
    Thanks again.

  • Outlook sharing issues

I have 2 users with Outlook 2013. One is trying to send a shared task to the other. Other people in the department are able to view it with no issue. When the user receives the invite it says: "This sharing message is not valid. All action buttons have
been disabled." Then below: (Sender not verified) Microsoft exchange tasks. I've been googling the error for a way to resolve this and I can't seem to find a compatible answer. This also happened with 2 other users involving sharing a calendar, they were
finally able to share but only through another user's computer. I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere that needs to be changed, but I don't know where.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that there is a Task sharing issue between two specific users. But the task can be shared in another user’s computer.
If so, the issue should be related to the Outlook profile in the problematic user’s computer. Please create a new Outlook profile to check whether the issue persists:

If it doesn’t work, restart Outlook in safe mode (Start > Run >type “Outlook /safe”> Enter) to have a try.

  • IMovie shared drive events - Final Cut Pro Issue

I've been trying to import my imovie events into Final Cut Pro X - couple of problems so far.
    1. My events on the mounted shared drives don't get imported
    2. When I look to save new events I only have the mac HD as the save location - doesn't show the external drive
Oddly enough on both of the above, the events show up in iMovie as events on the shared drive, and I am allowed to share new events onto the external shared drive.
Any advice on what I can do?

Hi - still have this issue - sorry but has anyone been able to get around this?
Here is a smiley face for your troubles..

  • Does iMovie 11 work with iDVD 6? - sharing issue

I recently upgraded from iMovie HD to iMovie 11 instead of purchasing the entire iLife 11 bundle in order to import AVCHD files from my Panasonic TM90. However, once I finished creating a project on iMovie 11 and shared it to my iDVD 6, the project would not show up in iDVD. iDVD does start up, but my project doesn't appear. iMovie 11, however, says that the import completes successfully and I can see it loading during the sharing process.
So I'm wondering if my iMovie 11 is incompatible with iDVD 6. I've thought about using my imported video files from iMovie 11 in iMovie HD instead, and attempting to share it to iDVD from there, but I'm wondering if there are better solutions.

    It should work fine.
I use iMovie 06 with iDVD 11 all the time. I also have iMovie 11 but I don't use it very often.
There was a quality upgrade from iDVD 06 to iDVD 08 - 11, (and a quality downgrade from iMovie 06 to iMovie 08 - 11).   I like to use iMovie 11 when sharing movies on the web but for making DVDs I get better quality with iMovie 06 and iDVD 11.
Starting with iDVD 08 an option called “professional quality” was added.  If you're making DVDs I would purchase iDVD 11.
If you purchase on iLife 11 on disc, you will have the option of selling it in the future.  Presently, iLife 06 sells for about double the price it cost new.

  • IMovie to iDVD sharing issues on a MacBook

I just purchased a MacBook and am quite familiar with the iMovie and iDVD working relationship. I have been attempting to share a iMovie file (using iSight on one attempt, and then .jpeg pictures on another attempt) with iDVD and keep getting an error message, (Error 0) to be exact. However, if I open up iDVD and import the iMovie file, there are no problems. With starting up the computer I have updated all the software that was available for this Mac. The version of iMovie and iDVD is 6.0.2 for both.
Any and all thoughts, ideas, similiar problems, or recomendations will be considered. How do I resolve this issue or is this an application issue?
    Thanks

    Hello James,
I do not have an answer for your problem, but would in any case recommend that you do not use the "Share to iDVD" option in iMovie, but save and quit iMovie then open iDVD and drag in your movie from the media pane or choose File > Import > Video.
    This has two advantages:
    a. Only one app is open
    b. It avoids a bug present in iMovie concerning photos/slides described by Karl Petersen in this thread:

  • IMovie Sharing to iDVD

I'm working on a couple projects that amount to placing pictures in a project and dropping audio behind them. Once I get this all done, I preview it in iMovie, and it looks fine. I share the project to iDVD, and once everything is ready there, I preview it again. When I go to burn the project, or save as an image or VIDEO_TS folder, everything gets, for lack of a better descriptor, pixely. I've tried all three encoding settings, all with the same result. During testing, I've tried this with projects ranging from a few minutes to an hour or so. The photos are 3000 pixels by 4500 pixels or so, so resolution shouldn't be an issue. I never had this problem before Snow Leopard, so did they change something in that update? I was able to get a final project that will pass as acceptable by sharing to the media browser at the HD setting. My question is, is there a way to get the Share to iDVD option to work? Also which encoding setting in iDVD will produce the best picture?
    Thanks

I also burn movies to PAL DVD but the quality really does drop a lot from the original file. That aside, the way I do this is open iDVD then click the media icon to the right of the window. This will access audio, photos and movies (make sure your original edited imovie project has been exported, as a stand-alone movie, using share/export using quicktime to the Movies folder. Don't use the share to iDVD option). You can then just drag and drop the movie file to the iDVD window, add your titles, menus and stuff, then burn to DVD, or you can save your iDVD project for later additions and editing. Also, set the iDVD preferences to PAL, burn at professional quality. The bit I don't get yet is what is the best format to share/export to using Quicktime my IMovie project. There's AIC, DVPRO, H.264 etc etc.
