My daughter and I both have iPhone 4s'.   Last night she switched to ios7 and I am still using ios6.  I use the find my iPhone app to keep track of her and since the update it no longer works.  Her phone says its on but when I try and locate it from either my phone or laptop it shows it offline.  Any suggestions.  It's my only peace of mind! Thanks!

Does she have her own iCloud account?  You can have more than one iCloud account installed on a device, and some users install a secondary iCloud account which is common to others in the family to allow "Find My iPhone" to be used from one account while keeping separate iCloud contacts, mail, etc.
But with iOS 7 although you can still have multiple iCloud accounts installed, only the "primary" iCloud account supports "Find my iPhone".  So if her iCloud account is the primary, you can no longer track her from your iCloud account.  Is that what happened in your case?

  • 10.5.7: Automatic Software Update Feature No Longer Works

Ever since I installed 10.5.7 the automatic Software Update feature no longer works. (Manual updates work fine.) For example, here's what happened today with Safari 4.0.2:
    1. After powering up I got the Software Update icon on the Dock.
    2. I clicked it and it said I had updates that would require a reboot and it asked the usual stuff. (It didn't say what would update.)
    3. I clicked to reboot now and it asked for my password and rebooted.
    4. My MacBook rebooted but nothing had been updated.
So, I went to the Apple menu to check for updates and it said I had Safari 4.0.2 ready to be installed. This time, it worked. Unfortunately, I have to do this two-step process on every update that requires a reboot. I could turn off the automatic updates and just do everything manually but I prefer the automatic way. (I had it before, too.)
    Thanks in adavance,
    Brian

    Jeffery,
Thank you for your quick response!

    How often do you have SU to check for updates? And do you have "Download important updates automatically" checked as well?{quote}
I have check for updates weekly and download important updates automatically enabled.
{quote}I'm thinking that the first time you approved the update, that it could have been for something that was already downloaded in the background, and just waiting for you to OK the install.
    Then when you rebooted, and did the manual check, it found that the Safari update was available as well.{quote}
    Interesting. I hadn't thought about that. ☺
    {quote}There could be a host of other issues... but check the "installed updates" in the SU preferences, and see what, if anything, was installed right before the last Safari update... note the date and times and see if my theory might be correct.{quote}

  • I cannot export my movies from iMovie since updating to Mavericks.

I cannot export my movies from iMovie since updating to Mavericks. I can get it into Theater then it says "Creating movie" but nothing happens. I can select share movie into a file, I can pick a name, resolution and location, but it doesn't save. I get the blue circle in the top right hand corner but nothing seems to happen. iMovie used to work perfectly, I cannot believe the update has ruined it!!!!

  • After 10.5.6 update Mail no longer works

I just updated to 10.5.6 and now Mail (3.5) no longer works. Just before the 10.5.6 update all Mail functions were working normally. When I launch the program "Mail" appears on the menu bar but no window opens. I can select the message window from the menu bar and make it appear but it has no message list and no message content in the window. I can't make sent messages appear either. My in, sent, etc. mailboxes show on the left as usual but I can't get any messages to appear in the window for either of my mail accounts. Also, Mail won't quit without being force quit. I also did the Mail Update 10.5.6 but this didn't help. I went back and used an older 3.3 version of Mail but it won't work now either.

    Hi,
Some people have reported success by trashing the preference file for Mail. Quit Mail if it is currently up and try moving this file onto your Desktop:
    Hard drive -> Users -> YourUsername -> Library -> Preferences -> com.apple.mail.plist
If Mail now launches properly, reset your preferences to how you like them. If it makes no difference, quit Mail again and move the file on your Desktop back to it's original location.

MY computer crashed and I had to reload the operating system. I had purchased the export PDF. However, I had not back up since my purchase and it is my understanding that this software is not stored on my computer. The export no longer works, it just keeps circling and the message acts like it is doing it but it circles and never completes. Msg says "uploading file to adobe exportPDF online"

    Hi lisa99vano,
I'm sorry that your computer crashed. That's the worst. But, it shouldn't have affected ExportPDF, since that is an online service (provided you're using a supported web browser, and there's no firewall or proxy preventing ExportPDF from uploading). First, please make sure that you're using a supported web browser: http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/
Next, I think we should consider the file that you're trying to convert. How big is it? Had you tried converting it before the crash? Does it contain both text and graphics? Do other files convert without issue?
I look forward to hearing back from you with some specifics about the file.

  • After using my iPod classic in my infinity G35 a few weeks ago, I took it out of the car and it no longer works.  Just a white screen with the web address for Apple iPod support.  Worked fine when hooked up to iPod jack in car.  But wont work anywhere now

After using my iPod classic in my infinity G35 a for the last few weeks, I took it out of the car and it no longer works.  Just a white screen with the web address for Apple iPod support.  Worked fine when hooked up to iPod jack in car.  But won't work anywhere now.  I tried re-setting but has not worked.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • 10.6.4 update -- expose no longer works

Since the 10.6.4 update, the expose feature no longer works on my MBP. Activating expose causes the screen to dim as usual, but none of my windows move or resize. Strangely enough, the application specific expose still works (click and hold on an application icon in the dock). Anyone else having this problem or know of a way to "reset" expose?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Forums!
First, let's get a better sense of where the problem is. Open you Applications folder. Then, go to the Utilities folder found inside. Double-click on the Expose application.
    Is the problem the same?
If so, my guess would be that the problem is somewhere in the update. An easy fix would be to download and install the 10.6.4 update again. It can be downloaded from Apple here. This should re-install the update and fix your problem.
    Good luck!

  • Ever since UPDATING, My iphone longer no longer can sync my music!

I am beyond livid - ever since updating my phone 4 to OS 5 - i am constantly riddled with syncing issues...
It can no longer locate any of my music - and it can't seem to update any aps I downloaded from my phone. I restored to the phone - losing several paid aps in the process - and it still won't work. This is absurd...
How do i get my phone to sync again?

You will need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 in order to update iTunes to sync with your iPhone.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether any further updates are required, particularly to iTunes.
You should now see the App Store icon in iTunes, and you now need to set up your account:

  • 3GS with iOS 4.2.1 update - voicemail no longer working through bluetooth?

    Hi Folks.
I've been happily using my iPhone 3GS with my Jeep Patriot's bluetooth/stereo system for months (it's called a Mygig). However, I just upgraded to 4.2.1 and now when I connect to my voicemail the sound doesn't come through the system - the iPhone thinks it is sending the audio to the stereo, but the stereo remains idle. So I have to select one of the audio options (phone/speaker) to hear anything.
If however I make a phone call, or if the phone rings and I answer it, it works fine.
Even if I use voice dialling to call voicemail, that works through the bluetooth, but as soon as it has finished the voice dialling and actually calls voicemail the stereo goes back to being idle again, even though the phone thinks it's still connected.
So at present if I want to connect to my voicemail while driving I have to use the speaker. Only for voicemail. Weird!
I am thinking this is a software update issue, as it worked fine prior to the update, and everything other than calling voicemail works fine through bluetooth.
It's as if the phone isn't talking to the bluetooth properly when it's dialling the voicemail, which is somewhat of a 'hardwired' thing, given it has its own button. I tried tricking it by dialling the actual number instead of using the voicemail button, but the iphone knew it was voicemail...
    Any ideas?

Yah, have the same issues since upgrading to ios421. Pretty annoying... I have two cars, and the issue is same with both bluetooth systems. I am able to make and receive calls but cannot listen to my mobile voicemail.

  • After an update, iTunes no longer works

I'm sorry for such a long story.  Several weeks ago, iTunes informed me of an available update.  I clicked to update.  The next time I open iTunes, the iTunes store no longer worked.  Everything else worked fine.  I solved this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling.  The next time an update was available, this entirely same process happened.  After finally getting everything working smoothly for several days yet another update was available.  This update being 10.4.1.  Fearing the same problem and not having time to deal with it, I declined the update.  The next time I opened iTunes, my library no longer existed.  The files are on my hard drive still so I attempted to reload them to iTunes.  iTunes acts like it is loading the files but in reality is not loading them.  Once it is finished, they are still not in my iTunes library.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 10 different times. I am always careful to uninstall all apple related files ie. QuickTime, Bonjour, etc...  I have even gone so far as to restore my computer to a previous date.  How can I fix this problem?

Don't know. Not my area of expertise. I was just trying to help in some way. You can check this:

  • How do I force/re-install failed Leopard update (USB no longer works)?

    Hi everyone,
The last Leopard update last week went smooth with two out of three of my Macs.
Unfortunately the update did not work well on my MacBook Pro 17". I let the update
run over night and in the morning it was still stuck on an "installing" screen. I had no
choice but to force a reboot. From what I can tell a lot of the system .kext files were
updated, but my kernel was not. How do I know this? Well my USB ports no longer work
(well at least with USB memory sticks). I checked my kernel version and it says 9.3.0. The
versions for the System.kext file under /System/Library/Extensions is showing 9.4.0.
Obviously I got far enough into the update that the newer system file works (almost)
    with the older kernel.......
So how can I force this update to run again??? I really don't want to reload my MacBook Pro
from scratch. There must be a fix... Please help!
    Thanks,
    Mike Bender

Alternatively, restore your previous good and tested bootable backup/clone, then run the COMBO update again. Don't have one? Then take some time to peruse:

  • After 6.1.3 Apple TV update mirroring no longer works

I have 2 Apple TV devices. both devices were configured and working for AirPlay. After the devices were upgraded to 6.1.3 AirPlay no longer works. Performed a complete restore on both Apple TV devices still not working from 3 different iPads. One of the iPads also did a complete restore. still not working. Does Apple test these updates anymore and is there any chance this will be fixed in the year.

There is no 6.1.3 for ATV.
Are all devices on the same network?
