Imovie slide & video shows

Hi - Im a little confused and frustrated. I prepared a photo slideshow in imovie and I also have selected video clips in imovie which I want to intersperse with this slideshow so it becomes a combined slide & video show. So I may start with three or four slides, switch to a video clip then back to slides for a while then insert a further clip and so on. Is this possible and how do I do it? Ive trawled through a bunch of google how to's and apple community answers but there doesnt seem to be any easy answer except go back to iphoto and import from there which becomes tedious having done it all before. I would also like to keep the inserted maps that I made for the slide show. Any help is greatly appreciated

Imovie is not showing my videos from iPhoto

Hi, i have uploaded some videos from my iPhone to macbook in iPhoto. I want to edit them in iMovie but cannot find my videos in the library, but my pictures are there. The videos usually come up and i have the option to use whichever ones i want. Please can you help me. Thanking you in advance x

After calling Apple (they were no help and I was disappointed) I kept searching in the Apple support community and found the answer.
To get iMovie '11 to show the iPhoto videos under the event library on the bottom left of iMovie, you simply have to empty your iPhoto trash. Once the trash was emptied, I restarted iMovie and the problem was fixed after iMovie did a search and showed the thumbnails of the videos.
Again, this info came from another person on the support community. Hope this helps someone else.

Deleted video shows up in the iMovie import window

Hello,
I recorded a video with my iphone 5 which I have since deleted. Every time I connect my iPhone to my Mac and open iMovie import window, the deleted video shows up. How can I permanently delete the video so, that it will be no longer visible in the iMovie iMoore window nor any other place?

I have noticed the exact same issue. I have an iPhone 5s running iOS 8 (latest update). There are about 8 videos I've made and subsequently deleted over the last nine months. They do not appear in Photos. They are not offered as downloadable when connected to the iMac with iPhoto running. However, if I connect the phone to the iMac with the iMovie application open (on the iMac, running Yosemite), then iMovie offers to import all of these supposedly deleted videos! I just want to reclaim whatever space is being taken up by these.
I have tried resetting the iPhone to factory settings, but when it syncs with iTunes and restores from backup, the videos return. How do I delete these videos?! Anyone?

IMovie is not showing all of my videos from iPhoto, can I rescan?

My wife and I have an iPhone 4 and 4S. In addition to our camcorder, we use our phones to record video. For some reason, some of our videos in iPhoto are not being shown in iMovie. Most are, but some videos that are several months old are missing. Is there a way to rescan iPhoto for these missing videos? We normally view them in iMovie under the iPhoto section.
I am running the latest iLife programs and have Snow Leopard.

I have the same issue. If you are exporting from iMovie version 10.0.1, I run into the same issues if I export directly to YouTube or if I export to file then upload to YouTube.
Google's help file doesn't properly address this problem and thier help is also out of date. In talking to a support rep at Apple, they said the export to YouTube should just work or the exporting to a file then uploading otherwise it's an issue for Google support.
If someone can post a solution that works (is a streamable format - which is different than the format that YouTube accepts as it will accept many formats but take a long time to process them), I'd be interested to hear also.

Issues with getting a slide to show in Captivate 6 that includes a video

I am hoping that someone can help me with my issue. I am currently working in Captivate 6. I have a project and I am trying to get videos to open and run. I have inserted a new content slide into my project. I then added an FLV video to that slide (this is slide 11 in my project). I have a previous slide (slide 10) that has an image and button and I have directed that button to go to slide 11 and then show the video when clicked. My issue is that when I click on the button on slide 10, it does not take me to slide 11 (the slide with the video), it just stays there on slide 10.
The other piece to the puzzle is that this project is a simulation that was recorded. So on Slide 10, I also have a click box that is suppose to take the user to slide 12, (the next step in the simulation) which it does, but then on slide 12, it opens the video from Slide 11 at the same time.
I hope this is not too confusing but I would really like some help if there is anyone that can help me.

Can you confirm if you inserted this Video on Slide 11 as Event or Multi Slide Synchronize Video? If it is Event Video, insert it as Multi Slide Video (you can set it to display on one slide only (current 11).
Also, Can you add a button to a new blank slide (put it anywhere in filmstrip) and set the action for it to jump to Video Slide?
Is this a problem with that particular button may be?

IMovie Slide Show corrupted space?

My students are creating iMovie slide shows of their photographs. Some imported them from iPhoto and others imported their photos as clips.
Today, 3 students on 3 different computers had this problem: everything was going along fine, they looked at the slide show and it was fine, then they started the timeline again and one or more photos had vertical lines through the frame- like they were corrupted. We deleted the photo and went back to the original photo. Resaved it, imported it again into iPhoto and then to iMovie. Placed it and same thing. We moved it to another location on the timeline and it wasn't the frame but the spot in the timeline that seems to be the problem. When we placed a picture that was fine elsewhere in that space, it showed the vertical lines-like wide nasty tracking lines.

Once your project is complete, export it by choosing share/share to media browser, choose a size that is big enough but not too big, you don't say where you are from or whether you are working WS or 4:3, but it really wouldn't do any harm except waste a little fo your Hard Disk space to choose Large if you are in doubt.
Close imovie, open iDVD, (if you've not used iDVD take a little tutorial), decide what sort of project you want to make (some are just real easy, others allow you a bit of artistic license), click media, a window will open (the media browser) and you can simply drag the movie you just made to your iDVD project.

Why does my video shows interlacing effects

I am importing HD videos from my Canon Legria HF200. On my user account the videos show interlacing effects, while on the other user account on the same iMac the videos are perfectly imported. We looked in preferences in order to find differences in settings but we could not find any.
I guess I modified a setting somewhere on my account which my partner did not on his.
I tried updating iMovie but it is already the most recent version (9.0.2).
I tried reinitializing the settings but could not find how to do it.
Can anybody help?

This is a known issue with all Canon Legria (PAL) camcorders. If you do a search with the term Legria, interlacing and iMovie you will find a number of threads.

Embed slide video in mp4 publish

Hello,
Is it possible to publish a Captivate 6 project with slide video as one main mp4 file?! I need to have the slide video (flv) be incorporated in the main video file rather than an external files. In my published mp4 video the slide videos don't show. Instead, there is an indicator "connection error" where the video ist supposed to be.

Hi. I don´t use Iphoto, but after trying too upload from the Facebook app, I found out that the video isn´t saved as a finished video. (you can still edit it)
I used the iMovie app to save the movie as new finished movie. Open iMovie , those video, select your video, click the share button i down right corner. Push create movie (I guess, mine is in danish) play the movie or not, push the back button, change the name or not, push the share button, save the the movie. Now I think the movie can be exported to iphone. It also can also be shared in the Facebook app i closed groups, so you don´t have to put in on your wall first.

PreLoader/Slide video buffering issues

Hi I am experiencing problems with my project that uses a mixture of slide video and standard Captivate content. The course preloader displays, the content starts to play then, on a slide video, slide the video will stop and the slide video pre-loader will appear before eventually restarting. I don't think it's a band-width thing because I have tested it on a very good connection and the same thing happens.
What I really want is to get the main course pre-loader to include FLV slide video file size in it's assessment of what has to be loaded - to avoid the FLV slide video buffering and showing its own pre-loader.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
I have tried the solutions offered here http://forums.adobe.com/ but unfortunately this introduced other issues.
Also is there any way of changing the default “loading …” text that comes up when a slide video does need to buffer ?

Slide Video FLVs dont get loaded in the pre-loader. Since the videos could be so large, they are loaded only when encounterted in the project (just when video is being seen). You will usually see a "loading..." message here.
Please try this best practices for frequent buffering problems - Many customers resolved similar problems with it by calculating actual video sizes mathing your network capability.

Regarging customizing the "loading..." screen - this is not supported at present.

Editing Slide Video with preview

Hi there,
I have made a slide video (published mp4) and in CP6 clicking on (Edit Video timing) in the Properties panel, I do get the video/swf to show 1 screenshot, bu will not display full preview of the swf......jsut atiny 300*200 (aprox) window on bottom right of the Properties panel....
Is there a way to view a larger preview th anyone knows of? (aside from actually running the mp4 video).......image below shows what I am getting....

Sync iMovie compatible video to iPad 3 for use with iMovie

How can I get iMovie compatible video files onto my iPad? I have them in itunes however I can only get them to show in the video app. they need to show in the camera roll for me to get access to them but I can't figure out how to get them in the photo app.

Download the latest version of iTunes, then plug in your iPad.
Regardless of what OS you have you will have a photo sync option.
It may look different being windows, but it is not so dramatically different.
Here is a guide for photos, but works just as well for video:
Step A: Opening iTunes and Setting Photo Sync Up
Fire up the iTunes – Make sure that your iPad device is selected (see A1), and that you are switched to the Photos section (see A2) – finally – make sure you check “Sync Photos” Radio Button (see A3)…
Also make sure to Tick the Include Video button!
Step B: Selecting Photo Folders to Sync
You will be on the same screen – double-check that B1 is checked and move onto B2 – here you will chose folder that contains pics you want to move onto the device. Finally, for the purpose of this exercise – let’s chose “Selected Folders” as in B3 (I try to avoid “All Folders” as my photos folder has a large number of photos that would occupy pretty much all free memory space I have on my iPad)
Step C: Navigate to Photo Folder
This should be a straight forward step that you have probably completed many times before – navigate to the folder that contains photos that you want copied onto your device – the path to your folder will be something similar to C1 (emphasis on ’similar’ – but not “the same”). Once done, click C2 (“Select Folder”) as shown on the screenshot.
Step D: Excluding Folders from Sync (SYNCING)
In this step you will be able to exclude photo folders that you don’t want to see on your iPad – Verify that D1 and D2 are correct and then move to D3 where you will select what is being moved onto the iPad.
ONCE YOU ARE DONE HIT THE SYNC BUTTON (LOWER RIGHT CORNER OF THE ITUNES APPLICATION)
Step E: Open Photo App
Quick and easy – find a Photo app on your iPad (it’s likely it’ll not be at the same spot as shown here)
Step F: Opening Albums View
Once the Photo App is opened – hit the ALBUMS button (see F1):
Step G: Open Album
Once in “Albums” view of the iPhoto App – you will be able to see all albums that have been synced – the albums should contain the photos you would like to see. For the puprose of this exercise I’ll hit G1 (album with Bird Photos):

Why doesn't iMovie import video directly from the iPhone 3GS

We here quite frequently that Apple offers a better overall experience than the competition because they make the whole widget... I was SHOCKED to discover that iMovie will NOT recognize my iPhone 3GS... Doesn't Apple make both products and their OS's (Yes, I know they make both)?
iMovie imports video from my FLip HD just fine... This is very disappointing... And yes, I figured out how to do it... Import it to iPhoto, export it as a .mov and import it to iMovie... This is crazy, Apple!

What I find shocking is that if you open iMovie and select "Import from Camera..." the iPhone doesn't show up.
For further clarification, I have turned off the option to open iPhoto or Image Capture automatically when a camera is attached. I don't that option to import photos from my camera because they are automatically imported to my computer via the eye-fi card in my camera.
I do expect that when I open iMovie manually and select to "Import from Camera..." that the iPhone will be recognized as a camera. My FLip mino HD is recognized and it is awkward to then have to open iPhoto, import the movies, export the movies and then import them to iMovie to modify them and move them to my Apple TV.
I have provided Apple my Feedback on both their iPhone and iMovie sites.

Ipad iMovie missing video

I created a project in iMovie then I reconfigured iTunes some how and synced it. Now iMovie can't find the original .mov file I created with the ipad. I have the .mov and i put it in my photos sycning folder and checked the box that says include movies but iMovie still can't find it.It shows up in iMove under Video, but at this point I think I need to have it in the camera roll or something? the file is 3GB so I can't email it like some suggest or Dropbox because my account only has 500MB.

I also got the second problem. The storyboard on iMovie trailer has all these missing videos. If I import them on my iPad it doesn't find them.
If you find a solution it would be much appreciated to share it here ... I'll do the same.
