Imovie slideshow skips over some photos help!

i made a movie composed of all still photos moving very quickly, but when i play the slideshow it skips over about ten photos. the photo before the photos that are skipped stays on the screen, while the red line passes over many of the photos. how can i get imovie to stop skipping my photos?

In my case, the new 5G ipod was skipping virtually all the songs I had previously added from my own CD collection, but playing all others like mp3 files from CD-R or files downloaded from web, or itunes store (my old 3G had no problem playing them all). After much futzing around I found I could fix the skipping by slightly altering the info file on each of the affected songs. The easiest way to do this was on itunes choose edit--select all--right click on any song--choose "get info"--choose info tab--then insert a period or a dash or some other unobtrusive symbol in the comments section. You should see a green check mark appear next to the info section. Click OK.
This symbol will now be added to every song's comments. But it cured my problem 100%.

I would like to use an external monitor (plasma tv) with my MacBook Pro also, which has a resolution 1365x768 - a resolution which is not available under the Display Preferences. I can use the plasma at a 4:3 radio resolution, but I don't see ANY 16:9 radio resolutions available.
Have you found a solution to this yet?

  • IPhone4 shows songs in iPod but skips over some of them

I've got about 40 songs in a playlist, all of which play just fine on the iMac, but the iPod app on the iPhone4 won't play about 3, and just skips to the next track.  What's up?

OK, the only songs that skip are WAV audio files.  All the MPEGs and AACs seem ok.  Of my 515 songs, 41 are WAVs.  Of those, 22 skip.  Every one of those songs, according to iTunes' Get Info, have bit rates of 17, 18, or 19 kbps.  All but two of the 'skippers' have sample rates of 11.025 kHz, with one at 12.000 and one at 16.000.
All the WAV files that play OK have bit rates outside of the 17-19 range, from 7 to16 on the low side and 23-39 on the high side.  About 6 have that 11.025kHz sample rate.
Therefore, I think that my 'skippers' are WAV audio files with bit rates between 17 and 19 kbps.  Where do I go to report this as a possible bug in the iPhone?
    Thanks,

  • "Show Next" in Track Text Edits Skips Over Edited Text

We use track text edits in our documents (using FM 10). However, we have noticed that when looking for the edits (i.e. by clicking "show next"), it skips over some edited content. Does anyone know why or how to fix this? Thanks!

    Arnis -
I just updated to 10.0.2, and it didn't correct the problem.
I'm not sure whether we are using other conditional text indicators. Can you give me examples of what that might mean?
We don't typically perform searches like we do with the track text edits, but I just tested it, and it appeared to catch all of the paragraph tag and character formats I searched for.
    Error7103 -
Yes, I believe everything is in the same flow. The first time we noticed the issue was in a table, so we thought that must be the issue. However, it happened again within a chapter that only contains text, so it must be something else altogether. I looked at the chapter again, and could pinpoint the place in the chapter where it would find the tracked text. It appears that there was a footnote that had a red section symbol (i.e. text symbol) at the end of it. I had to entirely replace the footnote so that the section symbol was black. Now it finds all of the tracked text with no problem. So, apparently that section symbol stopped the search function for some reason. It still isn't working properly in the document with the tables, but my guess is that it has something to do with the fact that it is searching tables and not just straight text.
Do either of you know how to turn those section symbols black? Right now, they appear in black, green (i.e. added via track text edits), and red (i.e. deleted via track text edits). We can't seem to accept (or reject) the change associated with the section symbol.
I apologize for the delay in responding - I was getting an error when trying to reply yesterday. Thank you both for responding and helping me troubleshoot!

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iMovie, but when I upload photos from my Aperture Library into the iMovie Photo Browser, some photos (305 out of 427) are missing. How do I get iMovie to upload all of them?

I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
    Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library.

    Hi,
The movie is probably MPEG format.
QuickTime Pro and iMovie cannot transcode audio contained in MPEG movies.
Try to convert with SimpleMovieX or MPEG Streamclip instead.

  • Iphoto.  When I play an album "slideshow" some photos show up as a blank/black screen.  Please help if you know what I am doing wrong.

    Iphoto Question
When I playing a "slideshow" album, a few photos show up as a blank screen.  Also, when I select a photo in an album to make it full screen - some photos won't "hold" - they go full screen for about a second, then the screen goes blank.  Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?  Thank you.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Digital photo display in Imovie.....please help!

Hello, this is my first time posting on here and I really could use some help. I am creating a slide show in Imovie 6 with all photos. Some photos I have scanned and they work fine. The problem I am having is with my digital photos. When I play them individually they are fine, but when I play them in the movie, they come out slightly blurry. You can really tell in the eyes of the people in the picture. i originally created the movie on a Macbook and then my backlight went out, so I transferred the movie to my external HD and then to a Powerbook. I also transferred all of the pictures into the powerbooks Iphoto folder. How can I get those digital photos to come out correctly? I need this video finished ASAP. Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
    MacBook/Powerbook Mac OS X (10.4)

Some photos I have scanned and they work fine. The problem I am having is with my digital photos.
What are the pixel sizes of the scanned vs digital photo images?
Sometimes using TOO large images files can cause problems. Unless you have done a lot of Ken Burn's Zooming, this article gives you a good idea of the images sizes to use. iDVD 6.0 Help - Preparing images for DVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/17.html
When I play them individually they are fine, but when I play them in the movie, they come out slightly blurry.
Do you mean in the iMovie PREVIEW window? If so, you should know that it doesn't show the actual image sharpness of the final movie.
How do you intend to view the slideshow - as a QuickTime file on your computer or as a DVD in a DVD player?
If you plan on going into iDVD, when asked by iMovie if you want iMovie to render your files before sending them to iDVD SAY NO.

  • IMovie slideshow (Photo) to DVD quality issue

    Hi Folks,
I'm hoping that someone out there can help me out with this one. So y brother recently had a 4 week tour across the US and he took a LOT of photos. I saw this as a good opportunity for me to have a good go at iMovie. So I offered to put together a DVD of some of his photos for him. After working my way through all these photos etc and putting a half decent (For a first attempt) slideshow I went to put it onto DVD. That was my first issue, I didn't realise that without iDVD that iMovie could not burn your slideshow to DVD. So to combat this I downloaded MiDVD from the app store and things seem to go well... right up until I played the DVD. The image quality of the photos has degraded on a huge scale! My brother used a rather nice expensive camera on his trip and when we looked at the images on my iMac (27 inch) the picture quality was amazing! and that goes for when we viewed them in the iMovie viewer. So what is with the poor image quality on the DVD?
I'm using the latest version of iMovie (10.0.4) on a 27" iMac running Mavericks.
If anyone is able to help me out with this one it would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers,
    Mark
    @mvdarbs

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto (see this:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2423 ), iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • I try to import photos from my iPhoto library but iMovie doesn't detect the photos and some of the projects.

I try to import photos to iMovie from my iPhoto events but iMovie wont detect the new photos or some events, I updated, restarted, etc. It didn't work, any solllution?

Sounds like an issue with the iPhoto Library
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Problem with slideshow in iPhoto. Photos look like they are all the right way up but when in slideshow action some are sideways.

even though all photos look like they are the right way up, when the slideshow commences, some of them display sideways. I have tried re-rotating them - and still have same problem. Help please - need it for Saturday night !

What version of iPhoto are you using?  Are you creating the slideshow directly from an album or are you using the slideshow mode?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • Some .Photos are black in slideshow

I have made a slideshow out of some travel photos.
However, when I play the slideshow some of the photos appear black. They are in the group on the top. When I click on the photo for a preview it appears black. In the library they are fine. Only the title of the photo appears. Out of 23 photos in the show 6 appear black.
I hope there is an easy way to correct this. I am brand new to the IMAC G5.
    Thanks for any help.

I used a workaround to make them appear again, something I discovered by accident - viewing the actual image file in the Finder (column view, where the last panel is a preview) seems to remind iPhoto where the file is, and it loads fine. The problem is, "Show File" doesn't work and you have to navigate down the folder to the year and roll manually.
Anyone else noticed that this seems to be happening only to files that show thumbnails on the icons? Even though I have Finder's icon preview turned off (other files use the normal Preview icon), the affected files have thumbnails on their icons. Next time I'll try turning that feature off in Photoshop.

  • Help! iMovie isn't importing still photos properly. I get multiple copies of the same photo!

Hello all. iMovie is acting very ornery, and I need help -- or I'll never get my 2011 slideshow completed in time!
I am trying to import several still photos into my movie project. In the past, I have simply dragged and dropped the appropriate photos from the iMovie photo browser into my project. Everything works — the way it should be with Apple products.
Suddenly, iMovie doesn't want to play nice. No matter what photos I drag into the timeline, iMovie inserts multiple copies of one of the video clips that's already in my movie. The photos don't show up. If I play the movie, I get a blank screen where the photo/video should be.
Is anyone else experiencing this probem? Is there an easy way to fix it?
The following picture and text should help explain what I'm doing:
Here are the steps I'm taking:
    1. I select one or several photos from the iMovie photo viewer (on the bottom right-hand side of the window.) -- In this case, I've selected 10 very different photos.
    2. I drag the photos into the project.
    3. iMovie appears to import the photos.
    4. I see 10 identical thumbnails in my project. They appear to be the same as the very last video clip in the project. However, when I scrub these thumbnails, or play the movie, I see a black screen.
I've tried dragging the photos directly from iPhoto, or from the desktop, and still the same thing happens.
    HELP!
    Dave

Thanks wesehrt. I had one jpeg such as "ALL_CAPS.jpeg" --- straight from my iPhone, imported/tweaked in Aperture no less ... and renamed it without the underscore and it worked.
But I wasn't getting multiple copies or black screens. The image would import and I'd see the thumbnail in the project timeline, but what actually rendered was the last frame of the preceding video clip.
Bizarre bugs with photos importation here.

  • IMovie to iDVD shimmering problem on DVD for some photos

Created iMovie with photos and some video. Created DVD. DVD on Mac shows shimmering on some photos as well as on TV DVD player. Have asked many trainers in London Covent Garden and Regent St for solution. The answers are not consistant just try different things. They also mention other products, Toast, Final Cut and FotoMagic. Is there a definitive way to make sure the iMovies can be created without shimmering (many snow, sunshine scenes). Or product that fixes problem. Thanks in advance. Don't want to buy product and still have problem.
