IMovie slow to load after installing SSD
Hi everyone, I have just installed an SSD in the spare optical drive bay of my Mac Pro and added RAM.
(Specs below.) I did a clean install of SL.
Before I did this I was booting from the 320GB drive that came with the computer and I have all my photos and video on a 2 drive RAID 0.
Before iMovie would launch in 11 seconds for the first launch and 6 seconds thereafter. That included loading projects and events.
Now it takes about 1 second to launch but 40 seconds to load the projects and events every time.
I have ditched pref files and retried but no good.
Any suggestions?
Yes, but the test is based on a 128k file, written many many times. That's fine with that, but video files imported into iMovie's cache area are not 128k large; they are much much larger especially when you're working with HD footage! You can also do another test and that is to completely wipe out your SSD drive and start over. After install, run iMovie 11 again and see. If it loads fast with the events, then you know that's the best that drive can do under your typical usage. However, if the drive still behaves exactly the same before and after a clean install, then something is wrong with the drive.
I don't believe there's any issues with your optical bay since it supports a SATA connection. You can check under system profile to see what link mode it is in now. For your Sandforce SSD, ideally it should be negotiating at 3Gbps rather than 1.5.
Personally, I have the same drives RAIDed in RAID 0 on my PC and while it is fast, it does slow down when I did too many big video writes despite what they claim as being trouble TRIM free. But with the slight slowdown, it is still much better and faster than a physical RAID 0 hard drive.

IE11 slow to load after installing EMET 5.1
After installing EMET 5.1 IE11 is taking 5-20 seconds to load. Basically the page stays blank for several seconds and the behavior varies depending on the hardware in use. Older machines take longer to load. If we remove the msthml.dll from EAF+ performance
almost back to normal?Thanks Razmee
I did reset network settings but problem is still there.
iPhone does not remember the password.
I did a network reset and also a hard reboot holding upper and lower buttons.
So I have to reset the modem/router every time i want to connect the iPhone to WIFI
Never had a problem until installing iOS 5.1 -
PE 9 will not load after installing Elements 10
Installed Elements 10 on Vista 64-bit. Did not uninstall Elements 9. Now PE 9 will not load; get window Adobe Premiere Elements.exe - No Disk. There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive\Harddisk2\DR2. Tried disk 2 of 3 from package, nothing happens.
Tried twice, PE9 still locked up both times - I think the intent is to have me try PE10, because that did work!!!

P67A-GD65 : Boot sequence keeps changing after installing SSD
Hi,
Before I had the SSD, all was fine and running on IDE. After installing SSD and changing mode to AHCI, the boot sequence keeps changing after reboot. I did not reset the CMOS after installing the SSD. I had disabled all boot except for the SSD (which is connected to SATA Port 1). And I did save by pressing F10 after changing the sequence in BIOS.
Appreciate your advise.
Thank you.I have the same problem. The board decides to try and boot from some other device, even though the SSD is detected. Very annoying.
I'm using the sata cable that came with the board; e.g. brand new.

Apple Raid Card panic on Mac Pro Early 2008 after installing SSD as an enhanced JBOD.
I recently installed a SSD drive in my Mac Pro to replace an aging, original boot drive. I have an Apple raid card with 3 other hds attached - all in an enhanced JBOD configuration. After installing the SSD from OWC (3G Electra SATA II Compatible) everything appeared to work fine. But after 36 hours I received a apple raid card kernel panic alert. See below for diagnostic crash log. OWC support says that their drive should work fine - now I am not so sure. Anyone out there with suggestions/solutions is most welcomed.

... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
1) Apple brand cards:
• Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5
• Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
• NVIDIA Quadro 4000, about US$1200
• NVIDIA Quadro 5000, about US$2500
3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
• SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
• EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
• running 10.8.3 or later AND
• don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
• can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards" -

Safari slow to load after upgrading to 10.10.2
Ever since upgrading my brand new Mac to 10.10.2, Safari has been exceedingly slow to load -- sometimes refusing to load, altogether. Any help with this?
Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the boxes marked Safari and Photos, if they're checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference? -
IPHOTO NO LONGER LOADS AFTER INSTALLING 10.4.10 on G4
After installing 10.4.10 on a G4 desktop, iPhoto no longer loads. When I try to rebuild library, the applications quits at the last instant. Any suggestions on how to fix or how to uninstall and get back to earlier system?
Hello young:
Hopefully you had a backup of your system prior to updating. Going "back" will probably not help as it it unlikely that OS X 10.4.10 caused the problem (it has been ouut for awhile, and no similar problems have been noted, as far as I know).
I suggest that you do several things:
Run repair disk from your software install DVD.
Run repair permissions from your internal HD.
If those do not help, download the combo OS X 10.4.10 and reinstall it.

MacBook Pro 13 " going slower in performance after Installing LION OSX
Hey Guys ,
I had noticed some problems in my MacBook Pro 13" which I bought in the MID of 2011 ( i5 processor ) , I had purchased and installed LION OSX and observed after installing that my Backlite ( Keyboard ) dont get on when I start up at the LOG IN , which used to work in SNOW LEOPARD .
Booting takes SO SO SO long as when comapared with the previous OS .
Heating Problem is also a must to mention .
If you guys know how to reduce these problems please help me out !
Thank You .I'm curious if you ever found a solution for this issue. I recently purchased the SanDisk Extreme II 480GB, replacing my OWC Extreme Pro 240GB. The OWC never experienced the "slow to wake" issue whereas the SanDisk drive does, consistently. To make sure I'm having the same symptoms, this is what happens to me: Put the mac to sleep (either manually or letting it do it on its own, waiting for the led to pulse showing that it is asleep), then wake it up (press a key on the keyboard), the logon screen shows almost immediately but as soon as I try to type the pinwheel/beach ball shows up, I wait between 20 and 30 seconds and then I'm able to type and all is well.
I contataced SanDisk and their support was horrible. They simply told me "contact MAC for this issue" (no joke, not "contact Apple" but "contact MAC", in all caps). I explained that it works fine with the OWC drive just not the SanDisk. They replied with another article showing that all macs have trouble waking from sleep (not true). I replied again indicating that I've never had this issue with any of my 3rd party drives, only this SanDisk. Then the replied simply stating that all mac's have issues with 3rd party hard drives when waking from sleep. At this point I threw a fit and yelled at my screen, even though it wasn't my screens fault.
In any case, their support has not been willing to do any actual troubleshooting. I'd love to return it and I might have to - but as you stated, it's annoying to have this issue but the performance is fine the rest of the time.
Thanks for any input you have.

I'm experiencing a slow boot time after my computer installed a MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 itself on 13 Inches 2010 model, how to downgrade or fix it?
My computer is starting 2 times slower then it should be, why Apple done this to me?
Please help who really know somthing about Macs.I have the same problem, especially when I open my laptop from sleep. It takes at least 2 minutes for the computer Internet connection to work.
Never had that problem prior to the last firmware update 2.7.
Is there a way to revert back to 2.6? -
Loop when loading after installing leopard
After installing leopard, my computer is not loading properly.
I can log in, the dock opens but then a window pops up saying "None of your preferred networks are available", displaying other networks; however the spinning coloured wheel appears and I am unable to advance from here.
The dock however works OK, and I can open dashboard (but cant use widgets). Finder is also not yet open, but if I click on it on the dock its light turns on (it "opens") and the top bar opens up, showing standard menu options and the spotlight icon. However after this it also freezes (spinning wheel again).
I suspect there is a problem (loop?) loading AirPort, which is blocking other apps and Finder. The computer gets stuck. I already tried "fix permissions" and "fix disc" using utilities, and I tried logging in safe mode, but it freezes immediately after the dock shows, not even showing the top bar, even before the point it freezes in normal mode.
Does anyone know how I can get around this?
(I can also access my HD using networking if I am connected by cable).I am having the exact same issue on my G5. It's been sitting there hung up on "none of your preferred networks are available" for 30 minutes now. I repaired permissions before installing, and I'm able to boot from the CD and re-check them - everything's OK. Anyone have any suggestions?

Can't get lightroom cc to load after install
can't get lightroom cc to load after install
Have you tried logging out of your CC desktop app, then logging back in again? Quit/Restart won't work, but logging out and back in should. See here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

All application slow to molasse after Installing Security-Update 2010_007
After installing security update, ALL applications, all commands in X11 had response times ALL key strokes of the order of seconds to minutes with >93% of system CPU idle. Console displays the message below ever 60-70 seconds.
11/11/10 4:25:36 PM updatedyld_sharedcache[12] for arch=i386 failed: read failure copying dylib errno=5 for /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/vecLib.fr amework/Versions/A/libLAPACK.dylib while copying /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/vecLib.fr amework/Versions/A/libLAPACK.dylib to shared cache
The solution is a modification of this link
http://www.macosxhints.ch/forums/showthread.php?t=15517
Basically, the offending file /System/.../LibLAPACK.dylib is moved from the system directory to a current directory, e.g.,
sudo mv /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/vecLib.fr amework/Versions/A/libLAPACK.dylib .
and then back to the original directory, e.g.,
sudo mv libLAPACK.dylib /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/vecLib.fr amework/Versions/A/libLAPACK.dylib
Problem solved without reboot as system immediately returns to normal. Why would a security update from Apple cause this?Andreas, do you have this info in english? I'm having a similar problem, and I want to see if I can solve it; or could you tell me what you did to solve it?
Here's the message I'm getting every minute from the console:
updatedyld_sharedcache[1461] for arch=i386 failed: read failure copying dylib errno=5 for /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/CoreGraphics while copying /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ CoreGraphics.framework/Versions/A/CoreGraphics to shared cache -
Slow wake up after installing lion (Macbook Pro 2010)
Hi there,
After installing Lion, my Macbook Pro 15" takes a lot longer to wake up from sleep than before (taking 10 or more seconds, instead of 2 seconds in Snow Leopard).
Am I the only one seeing this? I did a normal install (upgrade from SL) from the Mac App store. RAM is 8 GB.
Thanks!
FR.I seem to have fixed this issue. I ran Disk Utility and it showed error in the file structure. I rebooted into to Lion Recovery partition and ran Disk Utility, did a repair, and now (for the time being) it wakes as expected without all the whiring fans and falling back off to sleepland.
One gotcha with the recovery partition boot is that it doesn't recognise Magic Mouse, and I had to dig out my USB mouse.
Hope this info is of some help.
