Imovie Themes

Can any one help me with finding out if there are third party programs or via iTunes new templates of iMovie? Thank you in advance

the actual version of iMovie doesn't officially support 3rd party plug-ins/themes/add-ons .....
tell Apple, you want such a feature:

  • How do I get additional iMovie Themes?

Is there any way to get or make additional themes for iMovie 6? I particularly like the Brushscript them in iDVD, but this is not one of the themes that comes with iMovie.
Is there a way to modify the iDVD theme for iMovie, or to make a similar one for iMovie?
Or are there any third-party theme offerings for iMovie 6?

    There are themes available now:

not sure if this link was working a couple weeks ago when this thread was created, but I found this looking for the answer to the same question.
These were the only themes I found that will work with the Intel Macs.
Also I am looking to find info on creating "your own iMovie themes" and only found a link on the boards here to one hack that really didn't get too deep into changing things.

  • Black Squares in iMovie themes

    Little iMovie theme problem here.
I have iMovie (iLife '11) installed on my iMac and it works fine. This weekend I installed iMovie on my MBP too. But when my wife tried to apply a theme to her movie (the holy communion of her niece if your wondering ;-) the above happened. Parts of the theme (Scrapbook) where black. Same goes for all themes.
When I opened the iMovie app (show package contents) I found that this also showed in the Resources folder. Where on my iMac they showed correctly. I thought I could solve this by replacing her  Resources folder with the one from my iMac, but that didn't do the trick.
    Anyone any ideas?

    Thnx for your suggestion Braden!
Unfortunately this didn't do the trick.
The app isn't bought via the App Store so I couldn't temove it via LaunchPad. I used App Zapper to delete it and then used the iLife '11 DVD to install iMovie alone.
Then I upgraded to 9.0.9 but to no avail. It keeps showing the black bar.
Here's how the Theme looks on my iMac (in iMovie > Resources).
    And in Quartz Composer Visualizer
    No black bars…
When I look up this file in iMovie > Rescources on my MBP it looks like the above, but with the black squares as the pic in my first post.

  • Can't center Pics on Imovie Theme design

Unlike the Theme options in IDVD, where with the "editing" hand a picture can be moved so that it's centered in the design of the frame, I can't seem to do this with the new Imovie Theme options. I am dropping my pics into the slots but some of the pics are out of allignment. Anybody know if that's a glitch in the program or if I need to somehow go back into Iphoto and re-crop my pic and hope that it will drop into the drop zone the way I want? Thanks for your help!

I think, I have a similar problem! I crop a photo in iMovie and then I put it in a theme, for example the "passage" theme. In the theme the photo is displayed at its full resolution. That means, you see only a piece of the photo. Perhaps it is only a problem when you work with 1080i resolution, because in DV I didnt notice this problem.

  • IMovie themes not rendering

I have a brand new iMac Core2Dou, with data transfered via Migration Assistant. When Im using the iMovie themes and hit apply it doesnt do anything and the black line dont fill with red. My previous CoreDuo iMac worked fine. Any help for me?

    Hi L
This is out of my experience but You have done the most obvious I hope.
    - delete the iMovie pref file
    - run: Repair permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    - start from another hard disk or CD/DVD then
run: Repair hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool)
    - start a new account and log into this and re-try.
Try one at a time and see if it works.
    Q:
    - How much free space is there on Your int hard disk
    - Is there any ext devices connected
    - Mac OS X.4.8, iMovie v. 6.0.3 ? and QuickTime version (7.1.3) ?
    - Did You put in any third party plug-ins to iMovie or into QT ?
    - is you Mac as "factory delivered"?
    - or did you install a new iLife version?
    - or did you de-install any files/apps, e.g. using "Multilingual" etc. pp
                (from Karsten)
    - other programs that interferes like :
    < Unsanity APE >
    < FileVault > etc.
Sequre that there are at least 20Gb free space on the internal hard disk.

  • Imovie themes taking a long time

OK, imovie themes are taking like 30 minutes to work. So far it hasen't even finished rendering. Whats the deal? Anyone having the same issue? It gets to the very last part of rendering, to where the whole bar is red and then it sits there. Help me out guys.
    Sincerely,
    John Cook

yes it does take a while, but then it has a lot to do... , rendering the daily rushes for the Lord of the Rings used to take overnight in London and ready on an iPod Drive for viewing next day New Zealand. I dont think they used iMovie.....
I had thought iLife 05 was not great, but 06 is much better(except iWeb) but then I ramped up the RAM last week
interesting,I previewed the reply before posting and noticed, I had a word beginning with H rhyming with Tell and it came up with four stars...!! I replaced it with not great....

  • IMovie Themes have disappeared!...

I have made many DVDs happily with iMovie.
When I started a new project today, however, all the menu themes had dissapeared for no discernable reason.
Only the "Travel" option is now available.
I've tried looking through the preferences etc. and cannot find any way of opening them again. The help option makes no mention of the problem, either.
I am running iLife '06 on Leopard...
I have since tried deleting the application and reloading it from the disc, but still have only the travel Themes available.
Does Final Cut Express utilise Themes in the same way?

    iMovie Themes have disappeared!
Do you mean iMovie Themes or iDVD themes?
If you go to these locations on your hard drive do you see the themes?
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/
    User/Library/Application Support/iDVD/
Does Final Cut Express utilise Themes in the same way?
    No it does not.

  • IMovie themes - when will we get more

Im already bored of the measly 5 themes available to the iMovie app, when or how can we get more?
I heard that using a Mac with iMovie may allow this, but im a PC desktop user so cannot make my own if its possible.

I have ended up buying a MacBook Pro which is no doubt what Apple wanted all along, tempted in with limited features on the iPad/iPhone and end up buying the whole shabang.
Im still dissapointed with limited themes on the MacBook too, if you do a lot of video you quickly work through whats there and start repeating styles.
A great feature at some point in the iMovie timeline for be for programmers/designers to be able to have a tool to make new iMovie themes, one must exist at Apple so why not turn it into a purchasable app for the MacBook/iPad and get us all buying yet another Apple product to better our media production.

  • Imovie themes sometimes don't zoom into video

    Hi All,
I've had a good trawl of the web in general looking for the answer to this, but I think the question is so hard to word that it may be something that I just haven't searched correctly. Apologies if this is the case!
I use iMovie a lot, and I would say that I am fairly proficient with it, so I don't think it's bad implementation on my part. I'm using the version from iLife '11, updated to the latest, and this has happened over a number of update increments. I'm currently on Lion 10.7.2 but this happened under Snow Leopard as well. I'm running iMovie on a Macbook Pro 13" i5 early 2011. I have had so many good results with this machine that I can reasonably rule out hardware not being up to the job. All the video I edit is AVCHD.
The problem arises when I use the themes, let's say for example the comic book / newspaper theme. The opening scene, generated by iMovie shows the 'front page' with the titles I have input, and then should zoom in to the video which is playing in the middle. What I am finding is that quite often, this doesn't work correctly. The zoom happens, perfectly smoothly and nicely, but instead of finishing by filling the screen with the movie, it ends up on the top half of the movie and the bottom half of the title. This then disappears and the movie plays as normal.
When this happens I have tried a few things to correct. I have tried removing all but the top line of text in the title. I have tried removing the theme and reinstating it. I have tried all the obvious reboots etc. None of these seem to work. It seems that when it is going to happen with a particular project it is just going to happen and is unfixable. I have tried starting the project again from scratch and this seems to sometimes work. I'm tempted to think though that the bug happens at project creation and so staring again has the same probablility of success or failure as the first attempt.
I'd really appreciate anybody's thoughts or input on this as I think I have reached the point where I'm not looking at it in an intelligent fashion. Of course if anyone has a 'do this and it's fixed' answer, that would be even better!
    Many thanks for looking anyways.
    Cheers
    Dave

While I don't know the exact problem that could cause this, here's a few ideas.
If the clip you are trying to import is really large, you could be running out of disk space.
Use the activity monitor found in your Applications/Utilities folder.  This will allow you to see what your computer is doing while it's importing these movies.

  • Attaching a photo to an iMovie theme

I am creating an iMovie project where I advertise a new fitness product.  I am using the Comic Book theme to make my project come alive.  On the first slide, where you write your name and attach a picture, I have a specific picture on my desktop that I want to use in the box.  How would I bring the photo to the slide and put it in the area made for it?  Please respond as soon as possible, thank you!!!

The quick and dirty way would be to simply drag the photo from the desktop and drop it in your iMovie Project at the comic book title (or transition) in your project.
However, if you later decide to move the photo off your desktop to another location, iMovie will not know where to find it and your project will be broken.
So I suggest putting the photo into a place where you are not likely to change the location. I would import the photo into iPhoto, and then you can access the photo from the Photo Browser in iMovie and drag it into your project.

  • How do I add more pictures using iMovie themes

I'm having trouble adding more pic's to the theme I selected on imovie. Is there a way to add more pic's? or is this the extent of using the theme's?

    Hi
You can add photos to it - But they didn't make it easy at all.
    • You first collect photos in a new iMovie Project
    • Export out "Share to QuickTime" and as a QuickTime movie
    • Import this movie into Events
    • This Event can be used in a Project and Themes.
Some things never got any better. Wonder Why ?

  • IMovie theme problems

I started a new project on iMovie recently. Everytime I try to add a theme it will add it to the timeline and render it but as soon as its done rendering the error sound will go off and the clip is erased. Sometimes the theme stays but when it does (on a rare occasion) it doesnt have anything in it, just black screens. I saved this project to an external hard drive but all the clips work fine just not the themes.

    Anyone else experience this problem?
yepp, many, try the Forum's Search feature..
look inside ~/Library/Quicktime.. search for any files 'DivX 5'... drag into trash, relaunch Mac ...

  • Imovie Themes Clips

is there a way to make it so you can add more than just a few photos to the themes in imovie? right now i can only add what they give me per them, which is anywhere from 1-3 depending on the theme.

welcome blue to the  boards of discussions ...
the themes are meant as 'titles', they should just offer a short 'preview' what will be seen in the forthcoming movie ...
they are NOT a 'frame' to present your fotos..

  • Imovie themes help!

does anyone know of any other aftermarket themes for imovie other than Eyecandy? any help would be appreciated

Wow, that's weird. It's like iMovie is grabbing a combination of window images from the Mac screen — note the progress bar in the background — then tripling that image.
Be sure to disable any third-party iMovie plug-ins or QuickTime plug-ins, discussed here:

Do you have any third-party RAM installed? As a last resort you might try pulling all RAM sticks except for the one(s) that came with your Mac.
The utility MemTest does a pretty good job of testing RAM too, I believe. You may want to run that before going to the work of pulling RAM. It can be downloaded at VersionTracker.com.
Have you tried a variety of images? Some smaller, some larger. (Their pixel dimensions.) Are yours very large?
Same problem with a normal DV project, NOT Widescreen?
