IMovie thumbnail key photo

Hi there,
I have created a movie in *iMovie 11* and published it to my VIMEO gallery. The problem is the gallery shows a frame of the movie thats different than what I want (same problem within the finder).
I can't find a way how to change it, but I´m sure there IS A WAY!
Any suggestions would be fantastic.

You can do this in the QuickTime 7 pro player. Don't know if it's available in the regular QT7 player. Go to the frame you want and use View>Set Poster Frame.

Hello!
I'm wasting a lot of time searching for the right keyword for what I'm trying to do, ack! Please help!
My video starts with the orange linen background and then the titles swoop in.
When I export the video the image I see in Finder is this blank background.
In iPhoto, you can skim pictures the square for each event and pick a "key photo" to represent the event. I thought there was a similar feature in iMovie.
I want to skim to the frame I want to show when the file is selected in Finder, (and also the static frame that shows in a web site or YT until user clicks the Play icon) tell iMovie to make that the representative frame, and be done with it.
I have searched and searched for various keywords in help, online, and Apple support with no luck.
What is this feature called and how to make it happen? Anyone?

You may need to rebuild your iPhoto Library (by holding CMD + Option while opening iPhoto) to clear up potential inconsistencies in your library's database.

Had to restore iPhoto library from external hard drive. Key Photos Blank!

Photos seem to be there, but the key photos are either blank or all have the same one photo. How can I restore the key photo setting to automatically use the first photo in each group?
Is there anything else I need to do to formalize this process and get iphoto running normally again?

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails - it can take three or four goes to work.

MobileMe Gallery from A3 Does not Display Key Photo

When I post from Aperture 3 to MobileMe, the Gallery preview pic does not display the key photo anymore. Skimming still works, but the preview pic as seen in the gallery is not displayed. Instead of the preview picture, an icon is displayed that is gray with two stacked pictures.
If I go to me.com and manage the gallery from there, I do see a preview picture but not the key photo. Instead, I see the first photo from the project.
In Aperture 2, I did not see these behaviors.
Anyone else seeing this problem?

Yes, I noticed this too.
I can skim the gallery (like an event) but then it just gives a generic thumbnail as the key photo.

IPhoto -- In Event -- Key Photos not showing up

I choose the key photo, but the event still only shows the palm tree iphoto icon.
Most of my older events still show the key photos, but now I have several that only show the palm tree.
Not sure why.
Any ideas?

Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - from the resulting first aid window rebuild thumbnails and if needed repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

Is there a way to change the key photo for an event or to change the name of an event in iPhoto for iOS?

You are right, it's the first photo, not the third like I thought (don't know where I got that idea).
However, I guess I should have been more specific by adding that I'd like to keep the photos in the order they are in, their shooting or chronological order. Maybe I'm naive but I don't think I should have to make compromises to my vision to suit the limitations of a software program.

Key Photo in Albums

Anyone figure out how to set the key photo when using Albums in iWeb? It appears to be very similar to the iPhoto web gallery, however I can not seem to figure out how to do it.

The first photo in the photo gallery is the key photo.
For the person that had the freeze up scrolling: you can turn of the effects and just have one photo show up as the album thumbnail.
I spent about 5 hours working in iWeb '08 replacing my home grown "album" type pages with Apple's new version. I have need for 8 album pages which theh have 6 to 8 photogalleries linked to them. I was in the process of moving the photos I wanted to be the key photo into the first slot when I saved out the file. The next day when I opened my file all of the album pages showed the thumbnails for a second or so and then they turn black. Some of the photos pages and blog pages are missing their photos as well. I am not happy. Fortunately I do have a back up Domain and a copy of iWeb '06 on another machine. But I don't appreciate working away for 5 hours, saving and then having nothing to show for it.

My Iphoto library has recently updtaed itself with a same picture icon for every event. I backed up all my photos and deleted all the events in the library. When I imported a fresh batch of pictures the same picture appeared as the key photo. Help

My i photo events in the library have updated themselves with a key photo. I really do not want this picture as a key photo on every event.
I backed up and deleted my entire library. After importing a fresh event, the key photo still remained the same. How can I stop that.

iPhoto is an application and lives in your Applications folder
Your photos are in a database which by default is names iPhoto library and is in your pictures folder
I still have Iphoto on my computer.
Is this the application of the intact non-functioning liPhoto library?
I have copied all the pictures on a USB so I wont loose any data.

Make Key Photo on iPhone

Is there any way to change the key photo that displays on an album on the iPhone? I know on iPhoto you can do this by holding down the spacebar when the photo displays on the event thumbnail. Is there any way to do this on the iPhone? I have several albums, but every time a new photo is added, it becomes the key photo.

There is not a Key Photo option with iPhoto albums.
There is a Key Photo option with iPhoto Events only.
An Event's Key Photo should not change after an event is transferred to the iPhone.
When I add an additional photo to an iPhoto album that was previously transferred to my iPhone followed by a sync, the additional photo added does not become the photo shown for the album when viewing the albums under Photo Library on my iPhone.
With my iPhoto albums, I have manually selected for photo sorting with iPhoto so I can manually sort the photos in an album in the order I prefer. The order of photos I've manually sorted with an iPhoto album is retained after the album is transferred to my iPhone.
The iPhone's Photo app CANNOT make any changes. The changes are occurring when the album is transferred.
What is your selecting for sorting photos within the iPhoto albums you've selected to be transferred to your iPhone? Does the first photo available in an iPhoto album in iPhoto selected to be transferred to your iPhone appear as the photo for the album on your iPhone?

Incorrect Key Photo

I sync my iPhoto library to a Nano 4g and a Touch, both by syncing All Events. On the Touch in the Photos display the correct Key Photo thumbnail is shown against each Event description, but on the Nano the first 9 events have no kay photo thumbnail and then the other events have a mix of correct and incorrect key photo thumbnails. I have tried deleting all photos on the Nano and resyncing with no luck.

PS As I said "I don't thing to..." Maybe I'm wrong but all my albums and Faces have the first photo as key photo.

IPhoto 9.3 - all EVENTS out of order, random key photos, some empty.

Since iPhoto 9.3 update, all Events folders at top of Source List are showing correctly as thumbnails - correct order (manual), key photos - no probs. But they're also further down the S'List, under another EVENTS, this time out of order. When I go to full screen view to access ALBUMS thumbnails, the Events are above them, looking like Albums (stack of white framed photos), in random order, with random key photos, and some are empty. Also, on this view only, scrolling is not working properly.

I have had the same problem... not to mention I made it worse trying to reset my manual settings for iphoto!!!!
Now all of my stuff on my comupter is out of order!! : ( It will take me months to fix this. I often use iphoto on my ipad for work and it looks like that is not going to happen now!

When syncing faces: names do not appear and key photo is distorted on iPad

I'm syncing from Aperture 3.0.3 to an iPad. I select a number of projects to sync, and some faces.
Most faces appear fine. However, there are a handful of faces with distorted key photos / thumbnails, and no name appears below them. Each key photo contains photos from an individual I selected, and appears in the correct alphabetical order, it just does not have the name.
With the exception of one face, these photos are of friends, of which I have not selected projects above. So I'm certain this is an issue where the iPad or iTunes has grabbed all photos for that person, and few if any of these photos are in the projects I selected above.
The other face that is distorted is my newborn daughter! I definitely have several albums selected with her in them.
Any ideas?

I had something similar happen, albeit with a few differences. I'm syncing from iPhoto and I discovered that when viewing the list of faces one of the names was missing. All of the photos were there and the group was in the correct alphabetical order, but the name was missing.
I tried a bunch of things. I removed all photos from the iPad and resynced-- no joy. I renamed the face in iPhoto and resynced-- no joy.
Here is what did finally work for me, although it is such a kludge I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work for everyone. First I went to the Photos tab in iTunes switched from 'All photos..' to 'selected..'. Then I unselected all albums, all events, and all faces except for the checkbox next to the name that was "missing" from the iPad's faces label for that person. I allowed it to sync, removing all of the photos except for the faces for that person. To my surprise, it was now properly named on the iPad.
Then I went back to iTunes, switched back to 'all photos..', synced again, and the face label was still present.

Iphoto - key photo won't set for an event on my iPad

I have placed my photos into "Events". I have assigned a "key photo" to my events. For some reason some key photos will show up as the key photo in iPhoto but when I sync with iTunes the key photo isn't the one I assigned or want on my iPad. First I rebooted my Mac and my iPad and I even changed almost all the key photos successfully but a select few refuse to change on my iPad after being synced.
The key photo for one of the events WAS NEVER set as a key photo.
Very frustrated with my Mac products lately.

One for the iPad forum, I think. iPhoto for Mac has no control over what happens on the iPad.

How do I change the key photo of a Photo Journal created in iPhoto for iOS?

Is there a way to choose this photo? It seems to default to the first photo in the event used to create the journal, not even first photo on first page.

If you edit the journal, select the picture you want to use, choose "Edit" and then select the settings icon (the gear wheel) you can choose to select this picture as the "Key Photo".
