IMOVIE -TITLE SCREENS / SCROLLING CREDITS CUT OFF -

Hopefully someone out there knows how to fix this....A title in my video (scrolling edits, with names) cuts off at the bottom portion of the last name entered....The title is the exact length as the clip it corresponds to....What is making the bottom of each character cut off? ANY help greatly appreciated. Frustrating - as I'm done with the video but can't burn with this defect. Thanks in advance for guidance.

Hi Diana - there is no 'one-click' answer, but it is possible to almost do what you want.
1. Create a centred title (with the 'over black' box ticked, and set to its longest duration) with the words you want, and in the preview click on the words and drag them to the top of the window.
2. Trim off the ends of this clip to remove the fade-in/fade-out of the text.
3. Copy and Paste this clip as many times as needed for the scrolling (which you will now add to these clips).
4. Although you can now use the scrolling title option, its short-coming is that it will scroll over the title at the top of the page). In my experiment I used the Far Far Away title. Type in the cast etc, and choose a duration to last as long as your combined title clips. De-select 'over black', and apply this by dragging its blue 'T' to the front of the previously-created title clips.
5. It may be worth changing the colour of the scrolling text for added effect.
See how that goes. You will need to experiment. Make the whole thing longer than you at first imagine it needs to be, as the scrolling travels quite quickly otherwise.

jrod53, that is strange. Displays will always appear under the Hardware tier of the System Preferences. I've never seen it disappear, so I'm a little surprised. Do you have two monitors attached to your computer? It may be the Mac thinks there's two displays and it is send the window for iMovie out to secondary display which you don't have access to. Also is there one side of your display where the mouse will disappear off the edge of the screen, go into a black hole?

  • Title on scrolling credits

I checked to see if this was answered, but I didn't see it anywhere. I'm trying to make some scrolling credits, but I want to put a title above the list. Something like "Cast (in order of appearance)" and then list the cast. I don't want a separate scrolling title for this because I have to wait until that clears before the credits start rolling. I just want to have it on top of the list. Does anyone know if this is possible?

  • Apple tv screen shows up cut off

Just installed apple tv on my tv, having some issues with the screen.  everything is showing up to the left, cut off.  I have automatic and widescreen options availabe on my tv settings, and it happens for both.
I have apple tv set up correctly for my 37" 720p tv.
What could be causing this issue?  I have tried all kinds of settings, and it shows up the same for each.

I have tried resetting Apple TV by both unplugging it and using the remote to restart it. The light on the Apple TV box responds to the remote but the Apple TV menu never shows up on the screen. It has worked fine until recently. Do I need to reset something on my Macbook laptop. The Apple TV icon shows up on my Macbook and my I-phone.

  • Song Titles Get Cut Off

I have decided to convert all of the music on my computer from MP3 to AAC format, but when i convert songs the titles tend to be cut off after 35 characters or less. A good portion of my music has rather long names in the file titles because some of them have either those featured on the song or the name of the album within the file title while they are MP3, but after having converted them to AAC this causes an inconvenience because the title will be cut off at odd places such as just after the "artist - album title" or for example if the song title itself was "portion of the song title" the newly created AAC file will only display "artist - album title - portio" rather than "artist - album title - portion of the song title" as would be preferred. I have tried turning of the option of "Automatically retrieve CD track names from the Internet" and this has not helped at all.
Is the shortening of the song titles simply an issue that I will just have to live with or is there some other option/possibly downloadable patch that could stop this from happening to my selection of music? I would love to convert the music to AAC but i also enjoy not having sore eyes and a headache from tedious tasks like copying and pasting the song names from a website into the file names for hours. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it wouldnt be such a problem if the conversion process just cut out the album title in the name of the file, but it's the fact that the album title remains part of the file title and the song name will be cut off instead so when viewing the files in the folder they all have either the exact same name minus and appended number or they all have only a portion of the title to the track

  • When I get a call on Viber swiping the screen cuts off the call

Everytime I get a call on Viber I need to swipe the screen and enter my PIN to answer the call.
When I swipe the screen it imediatly cuts off the call.
Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hi,
I'm an official representative from Viber. I'm here to help
    Are you using iOS7?
If so, there is a way to swipe Viber's notification (specifically, and not the general phone lock), which leads you directly to your incoming call.
Otherwise, try opening Viber after you swipe open your phone, and see if the call is taking place.
Note that in general, iPhone's behavior is so that 3rd-party applications cannot override the iphone's lock and PIN (unlike regular cellular calls).
    Does the problem persist?

  • [SOLVED] Screen Slightly Cut Off

    Hello,
I just installed Arch for the first time but during installation I noticed that the very left side of the screen was being cut off, about half a characters worth of it.
This is happening in kde and the shells. I tried to take a screenshot to post, but to my suprise, it was just fine! Perfectly lined up. I also tried changing the settings in
System Settings > Display and Monitor > Size and Orientation, but when I changed the VGA and HDMI positions in the menu and pressed apply, nothing changed.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it is really annoying and has had me stuck for a while, So does anyone have any idea what's wrong?
    Thanks.

It's a monitor... and no I haven't tried that. Thanks, Googling right away.
One worry I have though, is that it seemed to be fine in Ubuntu.
Maybe they have something to auto adjust it back?

  • Why does the menu get cut off even if the project is widesrcreen?

I made a widescreen project in iMovie, exported it to iDVD, and chose a widescreen theme. It looked fine on my computer but when I burned it and played it on my home DVD player, the words were cut off. I also noticed that when played on some TVs, my movie (although widescreen) played as full screen and therefore, cut off some of the footage. Does anyone know how to fix this?

HOW TO MAINTAIN 16:9 ASPECT FROM IMPORT TO BURN
This is the way I do it. There is no compulsion on you to do it my way, but this works (for me). I started this method before iMovie and iDVD were upgraded to 6.0.3, and because not all elements of the various iDVD themes (particularly the pre-iDVD 6 ones) are consistent in keeping to 16:9 throughout the process.
The widescreen preview works just fine when you check your finished project within iDVD. The problem only happens when you either burn a project or save it to an image.
A bug in iDVD 6, particularly when working with PAL, and which has been reported to Apple, is that the sub-menus in many of the themes (the chapter settings) default to 4:3 aspect, NTSC and mpeg 1, instead of the desired 16:9 in mpeg 2 in PAL. This may be partly a leftover from iDVD 5 or even a newer ‘feature’ of iDVD 6. Either way, it is annoying when it happens, and we must hope Apple cure it in iDVD 7. In the meantime here is my failsafe workaround, which sounds a lot more complicated when reading about it, that it is in practise.
Living in the UK, I use PAL (25 fps). Wherever you see a reference to PAL (25 fps) in the following you may substitute NTSC (30 fps) in the various settings mentioned (if you don’t live in Europe), the basic idea is the same. I still use this method, and take these steps, regardless of whether it is always necessary. Worst case scenario: it would have worked anyway. Best case scenario: it works perfectly where it otherwise wouldn’t!
The object of the exercise is therefore to ‘fix’ all constituent parts of the project (video, titles, theme, effects, even audio!) in the desired 16:9 aspect to avoid producing a DVD where the movie is in 16:9 and the menu is in 4:3 or where other irritating surprises lurk in your project, which you only discover after burning a coaster!
First go to http://www.mydvdedit.com/index.php?lang=english and download myDVDedit. This is shareware although the download is free. Send the guy a few dollars/euros, he deserves it. While you are there, read all about it. Now install it in your Applications Folder. You will need it later.
You have finished your iMovie project with music, transitions and so on, and saved it to you Movies Folder. Before you started the project you naturally set it to DV Widescreen.
Open iDVD. Give the project a name, and save it as Widescreen if it didn’t default to the same aspect as your iMovie project. Now import the iMovie project into iDVD, choose a theme (any theme you like, even if it prefers to stay at 4:3) and save the project. Do what you would normally do to the theme and its drop zones. Save the project.
Now save as Disk Image on your desktop. Leave it there for the moment when it has finished/appeared.
Open your Movies Folder. Create a new folder. Name it PROJECTNAME – TS FILES (where ‘projectname’ is the name of your project!). Close the folder. You can of course call it anything you like, but this aids identification.
Now double-click the disk image on your desktop. It contains two folders: AUDIO_TS (which is empty, but please pretend that it isn’t) and VIDEO_TS. Drag and drop these to the folder you created in your Movies Folder. (This takes a moment).
Click on the AUDIO_TS folder and go to Get Info in the file menu. Right down the bottom is where you have to change the permissions. Under ‘Ownership & Permissions’ change this from Read Only to Read & Write. Click the small triangle next to Details, scroll down and click on ‘Apply to enclosed items’. You will be asked for your root password. Close the get info window, and now click on the VIDEO_TS folder and do the same. Close the Projectname-TS Files folder. You have now allowed yourself to change the properties of the contents of those folders, which leads us to the next all-important step.
Open myDVDedit. Go to File and open the projectname TS Files folder. By all means stare at it shock and awe, but don’t bother finding out what it can do, except for the following:
Top left you fill see a list of files. Lower centre you have a large window. On the vertical menu to the left of that, click te middle one (VTS or VMG).
In the window at the top left, ignore ‘First Play’ (if there was anything to correct in that, myDVDedit will have done so and told you).
Click on VMG Menu en (English). Now the whole thing springs to life.
Set Coding Mode to MPEG-2 (if it isn’t already)
Set Standard to PAL (or NTSC if that is what you want)
Set Aspect to 16:9 (not any of the other options)
    Now save the file.
Click on VTS Menu 1 en (English) and repeat as above.
Click on VTS Menu 2 and repeat as above.
You have now permanently ‘fixed’ the entire contents of the TS folder (the disk image) in 16:9 aspect. Close myDVDedit – you won’t need it again until the next project!
If you have Toast 7 Titanium, open it. ‘Select DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS’. Choose Select from the main Toast window and select your projectname-TS Files folder. You are now ready to burn! You can set the burn speed (2x recommended) before the burn commences. Allow Toast to verify the burn before you eject the DVD-R disk.
If you don’t have Toast 7, then I assume you can burn the projectname-TS Files folder (disk image) via Disk Utility. I say ‘assume’ only because I have never tried it that way.
Either way, you now have a DVD which will play as 16:9 widescreen on any TV set, even the old ones where you can’t ask it to letter-box.

  • ScreenShots Cut OFf

    Hi,
I understand this has been reported previously, (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2152205) but I wonder if lately, there has been any updates to this issue of Screen Shots being cut off? When I use <⌘-Shift-4-Space> to take a screen shot in Safari, when the Window gets large, the right side gets cut off:
Should I file a bug report with Apple?

Do you look at the file that is created or the screenshot that you plug into MS word? It cut-off my first lines of an Excel workbook screenshot but I could fix it using the "overlay" option for displaying it in Word.

  • HDR Pro on CS 5 - Merged image appears but bottom with save buttons cut off??

When I select photos to merge, either via Bridge or within CS5 (Automate/Merge to HDR Pro), the Merged image appears over the CS5 screen.  However, the bottom of the HDR screen with the photos selected for the merge along with the Cancel & Save buttons are cut off.  The only way for me to exit HDR is to force quit.
My monitor resolution is 1440X900 which is better than the 1024x768 required for CS5.
I noticed the same problem in Terry White's video on Youtube describing workflow between Lightroom & CS5 HDR Pro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rab25UTe6HY) as well as a couple of other users mentioning the problem to Zeno Bokor of Adobe (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-78e5a.h tml).
    Does anyone have a solution???
    Thanks.

I found the soluion - after spending over an hour with Adobe phone support (800-833-6687) - of which 45min was being on hold.
It turns out that for some computers, Photoshop CS5 doesn't automatically work as efficiently as it could with the monitor resolution, even if the resolution is > than the minimum 1024 X 768.  This is more frequent in those that have had older versions of Photoshop in them. This causes part of the screen to be cut off when going into HDR Pro.
One has to "prime" CS5 to recognize one's computer monitor settings.  How to do:
    Close out of PS CS5
Go to system preferences and select hardware settings/display (For PC would have to go through Control Panel/Hardware/Display)
Change monitor setting to one recommended by Adobe: 1024 X 768 or 1280 X 800
Save changes.  Monitor will look less clear if you have been using higher settings...it's ok for now.
Now open CS5 again and access HDR Pro all three ways available, i.e. via Bridge, Mini Bridge and through PS under File/Automate.
Verify that the entire screen is visible including all thumbnails and Save/Close buttons.
    Close out of CS5.
Go back to System Preferences ( for PC, go through Control Panel) and change back to your preferred resolution.
Voila! When you open CS5 again you should be able to see the entire screen.
For example, I use a Macbook Pro with OS 10.6.7 and the monitor resolution  was set to 1440 X 900.  However, I still couldn't see the bottom of the  screen with the Save/Close buttons so couldn't save any work (had to  force quit or escape to exit HDR).  After doing the above steps, I am now able to use HDR Pro w/o problem and access the Merge via all three modes.
Via  Mini Bridge - Choose photos to merge--> Tools (above photos, last on right in Content bar) --> Photoshop --> Merge to HDR Pro
Via Bridge - Choose photos to merge--> Tools (Tool Bar beside "Adobe CS5 Bridge" at left top of screen; 3rd from end) --> Photoshop --> Merge to HDR
Via inside Photoshop - File --> Automate -->  Merge to HDR
Since this seems to have affected several people and is a simple solution, I have asked the supervisor I spoke to, Laurie, to please have someone in Adobe post this solution.
    Hope this helped.

  • IMovie iDVD cuts off left side and bottom of pics/vids of TV screen

For as long as i have had iMovie, I have always had this problem where the left side and bottom of the pictures and videos are cut off and cannot be seen on the TV screen. If there is anyone out there who knows something about this, has an answer, or even a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated if I heard back from you. I have a Mac OSX 10.0 and have iLife 06 if that helps. Thanks a lot.
    Mike.

    Hello Mike,
a bit of "cropping" is normal - it's called overscan - but you say that the it occurs only at the bottom and left side .... are you sure it doesn't affect the whole picture? If I'm wrong post back with some more details about your footage and workflow.
Also: does this only ocurr on DVD or also if you play from iMovie through to camera?
    The TV Safe Area:
Anything within the outer 5% of your frame is going to disappear when viewed on a TV ( e.g. Rolling Credits). Inside this 5% is known as the Action Safe area and is produced by a TV behaviour called overscan. Anything within the outer 10% of your image area is not displayed as clearly as the part of the image within that border. The "sharp" 80% of your TV monitor is known as the TV Safe area.
NOTE: "TV Safe" only applies to video shown on a TV set. On a computer monitor, this can be pretty much ignored
    hope this helps

  • Bottom half of titling near bottom screen gets cut off on my tv.

I shared a standard 4:3 movie from iMovie to the Media Browser at the large setting (720x540), then created a widescreen 16:9 project in iDVD for it (the menus look cooler in widescreen). For some reason on the final burned dvd some titling that I have in the movie near the bottom of the screen gets cut off when watching it on the tv (doesn't fit on screen). It does fit when watching it on the computer screen.
*Also, is sharing to media browser in iMovie going to give you the best quality video for a DVD made with iDVD?

I've read on this forum that quality is best when one allows iDvd to do the actual encoding rather than iMovie or another app. Will you see a significant improvement /difference between that and having iMovie or FCP encode your the QT file / Movie? ..... might be debatable.
As far as the titles running off the TV screen but not on a computer ..... well that's actually normal since most computers show a higher pixel count than most set top tv's /CRT's.
You might be able to improve this by unchecking TV Safe Area if you notice a default check mark in that particular box.
    Good luck.

  • Credit Scroll - Title Effect - Cannot Adjust Border - Text Cut Off

    QUESTION:
How can I insert 2 - 3 paragraphs into the credit scroll text effect, format it so the sides of it are not cut off, and prevent Final Cut Pro from reverting back to the default text that comes with the video effect?
    SUMMARY:
I am trying, in vain, to copy and paste 2 - 3 paragraphs that I want to scroll across the page as if they were credits. Furthemore, I am trying to justify the whole thing to the left. The left and right edges of the paragraphs are cut off when I render the video using compressor. There is some kind of white box that holds the text. It appears to be the boundary of the text effect. The text bumps up against the boundary, but I cannot easily tell the text to give itself some space between it and the white boundary. If I double click the text effect I bring up a few difficult-to-use formatting tools. There are little white circles and triangles that appear to represent left tab, center tab, and right tab. Everything I do with these circles and triangles seems to have no impact or screws it up. To further complicate matters it seems when anytime I interact with this rudimentary formatting tool set I cause the entire text effect to default to its original form. I have to quit out of Final Cut Pro and reopen it and repeat the process by repasting the text.

I gave up and just made an image in photoshop. I then keyframed the image to scroll across as the credit scroll effect should have done.
