IMovie to flash

I am creating movies in iMovie 06 and then using a
photo/video album (Jalbum, Fotoplayer) that needs them to be flash.
I have been exporting them as .mov's and then using CS3 Video
Encoder to convert the .mov to .flv.
My biggest issues have been keeping the file size down and
the quality acceptable.
Does this seem an OK way to go about this?
Secondly. about how big a file would I expect for an OK, but
completely amatuerish slideshow-style video with a soundtrack that
was 3 minutes long and 400 x 266?
Thanks,
Luke

The Flash CS3 Video Encoder does a decent job with encoding
FLV files, but I typically use Sorenson Squeeze or On2 Flix Pro
with client work. For personal stuff, I don't think you'll need to
spend extra $$$ on a 3rd party encoder.
RE: acceptable quality/bitrate, I'd recommend checking out my
free online FLV Bitrate Calculator. You can find a link to it on my
blog at
http://blogs.flashsupport.com/robert/?p=138.
Also, you mentioned 400x266. I'd recommend you use a 16x multiple
size for optimal playback, such as 400x272. That minor vertical
stretch won't be noticeable to viewers, but will result in better
playback quality, especially if you're using 29.97 fps.
If you have any questions about my bitrate calculator, feel
free to ask.

  • Help!  converting imovie to flash?

I'm really stumped on this one.  I love editing videos in imovie.  The internet auction company who will be showing our videos at auction time- not such a fan.  He sent me the specs that the videos need to be in order to work on their system.  I'm sooo close I can't give up and use a PC editing program (boo, hiss)
    Here are my requirments:
    Video Resolution:720x480 widescreen
    Video Length: :30 or less
    > Frames Per Second: 29.97
    Bitrate: 600 kbps
    Codec: H.264
    File Format:
    Flash (F4V)
    > File Size:
    > 2.5 MB or less
I'm using imovie '11  v 9.0.9.  I'm also using a program called wondershare that will convert from .mov to .f4v.  I can get all requirements but the bitrate.  Wondershare's lowest bitrate choice for flash is 900.  It seems that even when I type in 600 to the "custom" it doesn't stick.  This makes my file size unacceptable.  I've tried reducing the quaility via a quicktime export, same result.
Does anyone have a good converter?  Is 900 bitrate some kind of magical threshold?

900kB/s is for an SDef.30fps  video super-low... your video should avoid any fast 'action' nor dissolves.....
    Give this a try:
export your iMovie project in any HIGH quality.
open that exported file with MpegStreamclip
Export to Quicktime, resolution, frame-rate, bit-rate, codec h.264
(if you're familiar with codecs&stuff: download and install x.264 - which is known for better results with low-bitrates)
finally, use Wondershare to re-wrap (do NOT re-encode!) the resulting mov to a flv
    ... a bit old-fashioned,hm?
    SDef + 'flash video'??

  • Exporting IMovie to Flash Drive vie IDVD for Burning on Another Computer

I have made a slide show in IMovie and since my computer can't burn a DVD, I would now like to export the IMovie to IDVD and then onto a flash drive so that I am able to burn on another computer (probably a PC). Which is the best format to put the movie in for export via flash drive and how can I create the appropriate file after transfering the IMovie to IDVD. There didn't seem to be an export or share option for me on IDVD. If someone could help with the steps after sending the IMovie to IDVD. Thank you.

  • Imovie 06 Flash between frames

I am using imovie HD (06) with OS10.5.2. I have constructed a movie using stills and the Ken Burns effect. The problem is that there is a flash of white between each frame. Very annoying. Why is this happening and how do I fix it.
    Thanks!

Took a quick screen capture, resetting the workspace or changing what sequence is loaded seems to make the issue stop, but it's obviously not preferable to have to do this all the time.

  • Inserting a flash photo gallery in a column

    Hi
I usually work with frames but I now started a new site using
the default HTML 2 columns template. One of the columns will hold
my main content. I'm trying insert a flash photo gallery in the
column but this gallery (SimpleViewer) has its own index.html file.
Is this possible and how can I do it?
    Thanks!

    Hi Anthony:
Have you tried simply applying iMovie's 'Flash" effect to the slug?

  • Inserting a 'flash' or something in a gap

    hello!!
i have pulled apart two clips in the time line to make a black gap clip, or slug, as they call it. Any way, what i want to do with this gap is to swap it for something else, for eg a white flash effect, or even some weird text (subliminal style) any thoughts?
Thanks so much for your valued help.

  • Display Thumbnail before Embedded flash video plays

    Hey Folks,
I'm trying to embed a flash video into a column on my website. I'm using Deamweaver 8.0. I go to Insert > Media > Flash Video and follow the steps. Everything works well enough, but when I preview the webpage in either Firefox or Safari, the video area is simply a plain black box, with the 'player-controller' below it. Clicking 'play' displays and plays the video.
What I want is for the first frame of the video to display until the visitor clicks "play", then the video to play as usual. I've spent the last few hours trying to google and search this forum, but haven't found an answer to this. Is it something in the development of the flash video (I used iSkysoft Video Converter to convert an iMovie to Flash)?
Is there a simple way I can have the first frame appear before the video plays?
    Thanks so much.
    Cheers
    Carl

    Hey Folks,
Nevermind, I figured it out. I had to delete the first frame of the video. Works fine now.
    Cheers

  • Integrating Flash File

Hi, I have integrated a flash movie into my movie successfully.
But when I export the movie, the Flash part doesn't play but the others play perfectly fine. During when the Flash movie should be playing, the sound keeps going but the image is frozen on the last frame of the clip before the Flash movie.
On iMovie, the Flash movie plays fine but it's just when the movie has been exported (I've tried .mov and .avi), it doesn't play at all.
Any ideas on how I could overcome this problem would be greatly appreciated!!

If you are importing the jpeg in the Flash IDE at authoring
time, create a layer in the timeline and place the image on that
layer. Move the layer down so other elements appear above.
    Ex:
    Layer 1: = Snow MovieClip
    Layer 2: = Background Jpeg

  • Will the new MacBook Air be able to handle what I need it for?

I'm about to buy my first ever Mac, exciting right?
Anywho, I was set on getting a MacBook (or possibly pro) then the new MacBook Air came out, after looking at it and doing a bit of research it seems to be a fantastic computer but I'm not sure if it can handle what I'll be using it for.
On a general day to day basis, I use these programs:
    - a Web Browser (surfing the web and watching online video mostly)
    - iTunes
    - Scrivener (Writing Software)
    - Skype
    - AIM
    - Microsoft Office
On about a weekly+ basis, I'll be using these programs:
    - iMovie
    - Adobe Flash CS5 Professional
    - Adobe Photoshop CS5
    - Other Adobe programs?
Other little tidbits that may be helpful:
    - I'm a college student (And though I don't write a lot of essays, stupid technical classes, I will next year because...)
    - I'll most likely major in Graphic Design, English or both.
    - I spend a lot of time on the computer.
    - I'm not a gamer, outside of the occasional online game
    - I'm not planning on keeping too much on the computer. (Only programs and whatever project(s) I'm currently working on. Everything else will be kept in an external hard drive or Dropbox. Too keep away clutter and because having so many PC's crash on me has made me paranoid.)
I like the new MacBook Air because it's small and light and has the perfect amount of battery to fit my needs (I hardly ever keep my computer away from a plug for more than 7 hours) Also I really never use my CD drive on my laptop, in fact I think I only used it twice this past year. So really my only concern is that I'll buy it and end up discovering that it doesn't fit my needs, hence this post.
Beyond this I only have three questions:
1.) How much memory should I have? (I do want some wiggle room)
2.) Does a mini jack mean I have to buy special headphones or an adapter?
3.) Does the Facetime Camera = Web Cam? Can I use it for the same purposes? (ex. taking photos/videos, video chat through Skype, etc.)
And the main question: Would the New MacBook Air work for me? If not, which Mac should I get instead? (I'm getting a 13" laptop across the board)
And I probably posted way too much information about my computer life, but if there is anything I learned from taking technical classes its that the more information I can give the better suited computer you can advice me to get.
So thanks to anyone who responds!

The extra 2GB would make any computer run faster. Could you maybe explain more?
Absolutely. The 13" MBA (baseline configuration) at $1299 weighs in at $100 more than the 13" MBP, upgrade the MBA to 4GB and it's now $200 more. So you're paying more money for comparable or "slightly" better performance.
There's been a lot of performance benchmarks released over the past 4 days since I made my initial remark. Not to mention in that time I've had the opportunity to use a 13" MBA with 2GB & 4GB of RAM, although I had more time with the 2GB model. Some observations:
1.) What happens when you need to install something that's only available via CD or DVD? Part two of that question, what happens if you don't have access to a computer with an optical drive to share over to the MBA?
2.) What if you require FireWire connectivity or need to troubleshoot your computer via TDM?
3.) How do you manage 128GB?
4.) How do you run a presentation from the machine with an IR-base remote?
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of the MBA, I was one of the first in line to buy one when the first generation came out and I made the 2nd generation MBA my "go to" mobile computer for well over a year. I've been very pleased with currently MBA, but it's not a jack of all trades and while it may be faster than my 13" MBP there are still scenarios that require features the MBP has 'standard' that the MBA does not offer or requires more $$ to implement.
My initial comment about "sluggish" performance was in respect to LightRoom3, Starcraft II, World of Warcraft and Adobe Photoshop CS5. I'll absolutely agree that equalizing the RAM would definitely help to level the playing field but thus far in my testing with the 13" MBA @ 4GB versus the 13" MBP @ 4GB there's still some noticeable difference in favor of the MBP.

  • Importing MPEG-2 problems

I am trying transfer a VHS tape onto a DVD. I have a clip from my WinXP PVR in MPEG-2 format that I am able to open with Quicktime (after buying the separate codec grrr) but it will not import into iMovie. iMovie briefly flashes the "Importing" screen but then it goes away and nothing happens.
Back on my PC I converted the MPEG-2 to an MPEG-1 clip and then iMovie imported it but without sound.
What needs to be done to get iMovie to import my MPEG-2 clips?
Edit: nevermind, I found a post that showed the solution. Ignore this post.

In fact I have found a solution: Firstly on conneting the camera via USB you get the usual icon in the finder for an external storage device. I simply drag the folders which are contained within the SD_VIDEO and EXTMOVIE folders of the camera to the computer. The user manual tells one to do this but I am not sure that all the files contained therein are needed.
Then using the software that came with the camera ("Capty mpeg edit ex") I open one or more of the .mod format files and arrange the order if needed while the seperate file names are still visible, and save. The software gives a choice of 4 format possibilities; mpeg (system stream), mpeg (elementary stream), or DV stream, or quicktime movie. Select DV stream; the first 2 aren't recognised by iMovie and QT movie gives very poor quality. The software gives the file a name in the sequence MOVxxx.dv where x is the sequence number. Note where you have chosen to save this file.
Once the file is saved in .dv format you can open it in iMovie. From there on I can forget the stuff that came with the camera.

  • Received a .wav file using airdrop, now i can't find it

    Hello,
Today i got a .wav file from a friend of mine using airdrop. Now I'm unable to locate where it is. I'd assume it would be the music app but nothing was added there. Does anyone know where to look?
The file was send from a MBP mid 2012 to an iPhone 6. The process didn't give me any error whatsoever.
    thanks in advance

  • 256GB SSD Write Speed - Pro Retina 13" Only

    Hello,
For folks who have 256GB SSD on the MacBook Pro Retina 13", what is your Write Speed in terms of MB/s?  Please note that this is for 13", not 15".
Several reviews claim that 256GB should get around 700MB/s for Write, as well as for Read.
I just got my MBPr 13 yesterday and only installed iWorks, iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, Flash.  All these only take about 5GB.  I then tested the SSD Write/Read speed using BlackMagicDesign Disk Test and this what I got:
    Write: 550 MB/s
    Read: 700 MB/s
So I am off by 150 MB/s and I am wondering if the slow down is caused by the 5GB software (iWorks, iPhoto, etc) that I installed after unboxing.  I can understand the slow down as SSD is filled up with more stuff but the amount of speed reduction only from 5GB of new software surprised me.
Or did I simply have a defective SSD and should return this to Apple for a refund or exchange?
    Appreciate your feedback!

The larger the SSD drive the faster they are. But you are confusing the reading speed with the writing speed. The SSD write/read speed for a 128GB MBA (2013) should be around 420/720 Mb/s.The larger 256 GB does provide the 700/700 Mb/s write/read speeds.

  • How do I play an iMovie '11 project on a flash drive?

I decided to save a few iMovie 11 projects and events on a USB flash drive, but the problem is, I just copied them to the drive and when I tried to open them in iMovie, they will not play. The clips from the events are saved on to the drive as Quicktime movie files, but the actual iMovie projects will not play in iMovie when I click on them. I have already deleted the projects from iMovie without realizing it and I'm afraid the projects are gone forever. Is there a way I can retreve them?

Update: I have gotten the videos off of the drive and put them back into the iMovie projects folder. The music is still there and the transitions are present as well, but when I play the movie, the image shown says "source clip is missing" in the video, even though the image thumbnails are there in the "Project Library" screen Are the clips damaged in any way?

  • Black flash in iMovie template

I'm using iMovie 10.0.3.  I'm using the Retro template to make a video.  Near the end of the template, there is a millisecond of black video that I can't seem to get rid of.  It flashes between two "Title" clips.  I placed an iMovie "Transition" clip between the two "Title" clips... didn't work.  Black flash still there.  I've changed the length of the title clips... didn't work.  Black flash still there.  Any ideas how to get rid of the black flash?  There must be a simple answer... or perhaps not.
    Thank you.

QTpro is able to convert some flash files into .dv... but most people are not satisfied by quality....
some bravehearted simply use screen recorders as SnapzPro to "film" any flash playing on screen..........
