IMovie transitions are rendering as black screen.

I am having problems with iMovie 6 on an iMac intel core 2 duo 2ghz on the iMac. The transitions are all rendering as black. I did not install any new transitions or effects but only using the standard ones that come with the installer. The iMove version is 6.0.3. It goes along as regular rendering because of the red horizontal progress bar but when I view it, the entire transition is just a black screen.

Thanks, all the standard transitions that come with stock iMovie 6 exhibit the black. The black is the exact same length of the actual transition, the rest of the clips are fine. I downloaded the files directly from a SD card reader originally from a sony HD camera, the originals were in AVCHD format. Funny that the same project on a G4 powerbook using the same iMovie version renders them fine. I just prefer the intel iMac for it's speed in rendering. I tried trashing the imovie preferences but with no luck.

Pro CC stops suddenly stops showing video, instead previews and renders a black screen

Hi, I've been working on a video project for a few days now, and then suddenly, this morning, when I opened Premiere, all of my video was shown as black, and also rendered as black. All video files are AVI files generated by litecam HD, they are all at 30 fps, and all had been working mostly fine until today (there were a few incidents of premiere messing up the speed of a clip/showing a glitch in the clip that didn't exist in the original). None of the clips have audio, I have added a song on one audio track, which still works. I looked around online and decided to try deleting the PEK files in case they had been corrupted, but adobe hasn't remade them. I've tried importing the video into a new project, but the video is still displayed in the preview as black. I'm at a total loss and getting pretty pissed off at premiere right now. I do NOT want to have to remake this whole sequence from scratch.
Computer info, in case it's relevant:
i7 quad 2.7 GHz
24 GB RAM
Plenty of space on my SSD
Nvidia quadro K2000M

Update to original post: Premiere now won't play the avi files in question in any project, or any sequence. I'm trying some other encoders to see if that's the cause. Original encoder was Microsoft Mpeg-4 V3.

I can see all of the thumbnails of my iMovie projects. However, when I try to play them, raher in the preview screen in iMovie or anyother way (ful screen etc) - I can't see anything, it's just a black screen. I have audio but no visual images.
Is anybody able to shed any light on this?
I've tried to import new clips to edit but the same problem is occuring...

Can anyone tell me what to do when iMovie launches into a black screen...the only way to quit is by force quiting.

You should let the battery drain at least once a month. That said, see this article. Bring the computer into the Apple Store and see what they say.

When I open events all I get are thumbnails and black screen.

I've used iPhoto on my Macs for years. But now when I open any photo in an even or album, all I get is a black screen with a tiny thumbnail on the right side.
iPhoto help offers no trouble shooting. Solution, please. TIA.

After updating itunes my library and playlists are a empty Black Screen??

I've never had a problem with itunes until now, which is why this is my first post!
I just updated to the most recent version of itunes 8.2, and after doing so it seems the Itunes store is the only thing functioning! When I go to my music library or previous playlists that I've created I have only an empty black screen within the traditional itunes window. The screen is also black when I plug in my itouch.
I've rebooted my computer several times, and repaired the install twice for both itunes and quicktime. What else can I do? And I'm a pretty simple when it comes to computers so if you have a suggestion you may have to really spell it out for me. Please and thank you!
Edit: It is also taking MUCH longer than normal for Itunes to launch after clicking it from the desktop.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My iTunes videos are just a black screen?!!?!?!?!

Good Day to you, my iTunes library seems to have gone a little odd today. Some music videos only seem to display as a black screen with sound when I try to play them but some play completely fine.
May I add, before today's incident all videos played correctly.

After fifty bucks and several hours on the phone with Apple here is how I resolved my issue;
To resolve the glitch we had iTunes select an external speaker, in this case my AppleTV. Next, I played a purchased video. and the picture restored. The tech and I figured that somehow the computer was attempting to send the video somewhere else via Airplay, much like an iPad would, and to restore the video we needed to reset the destination of the video.
I hope this helps your situation.

IMovie transitions and titles have black behind them

When I first installed iLife, everything worked fine. All of a sudden the titles and transitions have black behind them as if it's not keying right. (eg. the time and date graphic has a black bar behind it that should be there and the comic book look just shows black instead of the video.)
Am I the only person this has happened to?

Firstly, regarding your original post correction - for a short time after posting you can still edit your post. A small icon appears to the left of the other icons on the top right corner of your post. Click on this, edit your post, then click on Edit Message (I think it's called) in the bottom left corner of the Edit screen to republish your edited post.
Now to your problem. The first thing I would do is to close iMovie then delete (trash) iMovie's preference file. It's found in your User>Library>Preferences folder and is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Don't worry, iMovie will create a new .plist file with the default settings when next opened. You may need to go to iMovie>Preferences in the Menu and change some settings to suit your own preference.
Hope this solves your issue. Sometimes the preference file can become corrupted and this can cause iMovie to behave strangely.

Transparent areas rendering out black, help!

Hey guys,
I'm embarrassed to have to post this because it's something I have done numerous times correctly in the past, but somehow I've lost the ability to render out my transparent motion projects as transparent. Instead I am getting black filling the transparent areas. Where have I gone wrong with my settings? A quick refresher would be very appreciated.

1) You need to render to a codec that supports an alpha channel, like Animation+ or ProRes4444
2) Or, don't render at all - if you are just rendering to bring your clip into FCP, bring the Motion project itself directly into Final Cut and place it above your video.

HP Pavilion DV6; Black Screen & Atikmpag.sys BSOD with external Monitor

Hello Guys.
I have HP Pavilion DV6 Core i7 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics Card. Two weeks ago, I started getting continous Atikmpag,sys BSODs. The operating system also started giving me warnings about the hardrive. After a few days, the BSODs got more frequent. Then one day, I was doing normal stuff on my PC and the Display Driver crashed. Instead of recovering, the PC froze. I forced restart my PC but it got worse. The display of my laptop went black. I connected the laptop to external monitor which detected the display. When I tried to load the windows, it started giving me the Atikmpag.sys BSOD on the start up. Now the operating system works fine in the Safe Mode but with nothing on the laptop's screen. The soultions I have tried so far are.
-Reinstalled the windows thrice
-Removed the drivers and installed the updated ones a bunch of times.
-Rolled back the bios to an earlier version
-Removed the hardrive and tried to load it from an operating system installed on external flash drive
-Tried loading the PC with linux on external flash drive
-Opened the laptop and cleaned it thoroughly
-Removed all the components and plugged them one by one.
-Removed the old Atikmpag.sys in system32 folder and expanded it with the latest ones.
-Installed every thing fresh from HP website
None of these tricks have given me any luck yet. The only way, I could use the operating system in normal mode, is to delete the atikmpag.sys file in safe mode and then log on back in normal mode. I also analysed the minidump file through window debugger and it says that atikmpag.sys is causing this crash with the TDR message. I did all these with an external monitor as the display of the laptop is black since that day.

Flash DVD... Motion menus are coming out black

I have previously used the flash output in Encore in CS3 and CS4. First time using it in CS5. I like to use video clips as menu backgrounds and have done it many times before. I link both the video and the audio to the menu in the motion properties window. In CS5, it appears that this function works for DVDs, but not for Flash. When I do the Flash export, the menus are just a black screen with the audio I linked to.

Hey, I figured out a fix. Turns out it wasn't the clip format. Turns out that you must have a button on a motion menu, AND, you gotta have the buttons image eyeball poked out. So in this case, what I'm doing is trying to create a web site using this Flash DVD option. It's a web site that works like a DVD in a Flash player. So that means it's a web site with a full-screen option and a volume control. It allows me to take my motion graphics skills and apply them to web design without needing to know anything about Flash. 2nd iMac: Black Screen

I am on my 2nd iMac. My first one was replaced on 11/12. I installed the updates including the new firmware one. Today at 11:14 am Eastern, the screen went black and wouldn't come back. No warning, no nothing...not even fade to black, just pitch black in a nano-second. I had to hard reboot.
All I had open was Safari and I was reviewing, not editing it, simply reading a Word doc that my partner had emailed to me earlier this morning.

I have not had any issues since the firmware update.
If it just shut off and you are certain that there were no power failures, tripped breakers, blown fuses or any significant drops in line voltage at the plug then it must be a hardware issue. If you are stating that it didn't just freeze, but it actually shut down by itself that is usually indicates that the power supply is going bad or it is overheating. Generally if it is overheating it would have to cool down before you could turn it back on. Since I didn't gather that that is what happened from your post, in other words you could reboot immediately, then it has to be something else. Unfortunately all you can do is call Apple and ask for another one or a repair on the one you have.
I am sure sorry to hear of the problem especially since it is your second Mac. You might want to see if you can speak to Customer Relations when you call. They have more authority to do things than the normal tier 1 people or the product specialists. I think I might ask for a little something for my trouble, like a free copy of iWork or a cut on an Applecare agreement. What's the worst they can say?
The only things I can suggest is that you check the hard drive with the system profiler and make sure the SMART status says verified, maybe reseting the PRAM and NVRAM would help, but I don't hold out much faith for that myself.
I do hope you get the issue solved.
