IMovie updated quicktime share choppy

I shared an iMOVIE to quicktime last week and it was great (played and looked smooth). I made 2 minor changes, updated to the latest quicktime, shared again and now the movie is very choppy and of lower quality. Can someone help? I DID NOT USE EXPERT SETTINGS.
G5 imac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

My guess it had to do with the QuickTime update in the middle of a project.
You should always start and finish an imovie project with the same versions of everything.

  • Can updated quicktime screw up iMovie transfer?

Last week I shared an iMovie to quicktime and it played smooth and fine. I updated my quicktime to 7.1.5, made two small changes to the iMovie and shared it to quicktime again. After the update the video is choppy and of poor quality. Did updating quicktime cause the loss of quality? Can I uninstall and put back the previous version of QT?
    Thanks,
    Kurt

I rebuilt the desktop with DiskWarrior (the newest non intel version), downloaded qt 7.1.6 to fix the bugs, resent the movie to quicktime:
STILL CHOPPY, STILL PIXELATED. I shouldn't have updated to 7.1.5.
I don't have my copy of the first qt movie until Monday, I'll check out the two versions.
SOMETHING NEW: IDVD preview panes (like next to play movie, or scene selection) are choppier and more pixelated since the update.
Please e-mail any friends you have at apple and tell them the above update for qt decreases the quality of IMOVIE transfers to CD-Rom, Quicktime movies. The ones you are most likely to use and burn for friends and family. It may also screw up some IDVD features.
    E-mail like the very wind.
    Thanks.

  • ITunes not working on IMovie after Quicktime update

I am running IMovie 4.0.1. The operating system is 10.3.9. I just updated Quicktime to 7.4.5 (v67) The Player is v25. I can’t play my ITunes (7.6.2 (9)) music on IMovie any longer---it was working perfectly with the last version. Any suggestions? Can I reverse the update to Quicktime?

    Hi
I have had exactly the same problem with my windows vista 32 bit. I installed the new itunes 9 and have not been able to launch it. I have followed all apple's advice but no luck. It is now beginning to really annoy me as there are so many others that are having this issue and there are no solutions.

  • From iMovie I select share iDVD, and then mouse spins forever in iDVD

from iMovie I select share iDVD, and then mouse spins forever......
Note: this only occurs for one of my movies, because the other iMovie projects open iDVD ok. I have also tried an archived copy of this movie and the same problem occurs. I notice in the backgound that iMovie is access iDVD for a long time (2-3 minutes), and then I can access iMovie again. However iDVD spins the mouse forever until I Option-Apple-Escape and end iDVD.
    I am running:
    iMovie Ver.# 6.03(267.2) and
    iDVD Ver.# 6.04(797)
    1) Is the problem iMovie or iDVD or the specific iMovie file which could be corrupted? Should I try and export this corrupted iMovie file into another file name?
    2) Can I reset the preferences for iMovie and iDVD? And how do I do that?
    3) Can I re-install iMovie and/or iDVD, and do I use my original DVD?

    Hi
    a. I don't ever use the Share/Export to iDVD from within iMovie.
    I do.
    • close iMovie
    • open iDVD
    • Import or just drop the movie into iDVD
    b. Clearing iDVD
    • Delete iDVD pref file
    • Start iDVD
    • Start a new project
    Else read.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named:
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
Last resort: from Craig: Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Can't export imovie to quicktime

When I try to convert my imovie to quicktime, I go to share under the file menu and selct CD-ROM in the compression menu. But when I click the share tab my movie is grayed out and I cannot select for transfer to quicktime.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Cheers
    mrjazz

You actually could have gone under the same file menu, or the share menu a couple of toolbar menus down, and rather than import or share to Quicktime, this time share it to iDVD. iDVD will open automatically and then you can select a theme, add photos, etc.
You can drag a QT file from the desktop or wherever into iDVD, but since you first saved your movie as a Quicktime file with CD-ROM quality, you probably do not want to use this file. You would want it to be Full Quality. Then you could open iDVD, create a new project, and simply drag that file into the window. But again, why not just export from the iMovie application directly to iDVD?

  • IMovie or QuickTime to view on iPod w/ video?

My father-in-law just got an iPod w/ video. Can I create iMovie or QuickTime projects that he can view on his iPod?
I want to create a short video project, post it to my .mac page for file-sharing and have him download it and post it on his iPod.
I have iMovie 4 but use iMovie 3 because of stability problems.
Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

    Steven:
Go to file-->export. If everything is updated on your mac, then there should be a movie to iPod option. This will create a quicktime file. Drag that to iTunes and then sync to your iPod.

  • Can't update quicktime on windows xp. Try to install 7.7.3 and it says I have a newer version installed. I don't of course, I have 7.3.1. Have never been able to update it. Even uninstalling older version it still says a newer version is already installed

Can't update quicktime on windows xp. I have 7.3.1 and when I try to install 7.7.3 it says I have a newer version already installed??? Even uninstalling the older one, it still says the same thing. I haven't been able to update it since 2007.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I have my iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. Is there anyway to show them from the external drive without putting them into iTunes?

I havei my personal iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. I prefer not to have to import them into my iTunes library which is nearly 1GB already. Is there any way to play them from my MacBook Pro through Apple TV 2 without importing them into iTunes?

Just wanted to add a little to the excellent comments from those above... I have debated on adding the content to iTunes or just accessing the content through some folder structure.
What has worked best for me and my family:
use VideoDrive - http://www.aroona.net/VideoDrive/Home.html to import the videos/tvshows into iTunes and make them in the correct format for my iPad/iPhone/AppleTV devices in the house. This software is cheap and excellent and make the adding of content to iTunes (i everything) easy!
I store my videos on a usb 2tb drive and my tvshows on a different usb 2tb drive. And I swap a drive out every year or so and give old drive away to family/friends. That way my media drives are new(ish) and 1 drive is never older than 2 years.
for media that I don't want to add to iTunes I still use AirVideo as it is an excellent piece of software. I also use AirVideo to allow me to access content on my home network over the internet.
my "media server" is a simple 4 year old intel mac mini with 1 gig of ram best $700 I spent when I first flipped to all things mac. Family now have 2 mbp's, 2 iPads, 4 iphones and 1atv (2nd gen)
I'm working on a document that shows how I did my setup - if you want to read more please feel free to download my preview - https://files.me.com/lee.gaupp/aq0gst

  • I get an error message when trying to update quicktime player

why do i get an error message when i try to update quicktime player that says "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", and further states that "click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'quicktime.msi' in the box below".. when i try to locate the file quicktime.msi, i am unable to locate it anywhere on my pc, which then will not allow me to complete the installation, nore will it allow me to uninstall the application.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.

  • HT204210 STATUS_CODE_ERROR message in App Store when trying to authenticate to download iMovie update after 10.10.2 update

After updating to 10.10.2, when I try to authenticate when to download an iMovie update in the app store, I get a STATUS_CODE_ERROR message. How do I fix it?

Based on the numerous posts regarding iTunes and the App Store, there appears to be an issue at Apple's end. Although Apple has not provided any indication on the cloud status page.
    Do not change your settings.

  • How do i update quicktime for mac os x 10.6.8

    hi Can someone help?

If you're running 10.6.8, Apple menu > Software Update. What version of QT do you have?

  • (Software Update) The update "QuickTime can't be saved.

I have gotten the following failure repeatedly on every attempt (about 5x) of QT 7.5 update. I have successfully used Software Update to get to OS X 10.5.4 but the QT 7.5 update has not succeeded.
The Software Update status window says' Downloading 1 item Expanding and verifying QuickTime...'
The error message is 'The update "QuickTime" can't be Saved. Software Update could not expand the package correctly.'
Based on the QT discussion board i am wondering if it is even a good idea to get this 7.5. However the iTunes 7.7 says that it requires QT 7.5. I am at iTunes 7.7 now. The reason is I read that I need to be on 10.5.4 OSX and iTunes 7.7 before downloading iPhone OS 2.0.
    thanks

I was using Software Update, which is supposed to know the correct version. Once, I did try to get the Leopard version off the downloads web page and the disk failed to mount. After your reply I tried again from the downloads page and this time it worked.
So problem solved, but I have no clue why...I had just rebooted... but I had rebooted before without it helping. It seems random chance combined with enough reboots did the trick.
    Thanks for your help.
