IMovie using automountd to access suspect sites?

I have Litle Snitch installed and whenever I run iMovie 08 (7.1.4) it reports that automountd is trying to establish a connection with the following suspect web sites:
AVCHD.com.au on UDP port 111
PRIVATE.com.au on UDP port 111
fs_usage shows lines like:
09:29:06 lstat /net/AVCHD 0.000842 W iMovie
09:29:06 lstat /net/PRIVATE 0.000753 W iMovie
09:29:06 lstat /home/PRIVATE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 0.006176 W iMovie
but where do the .com.au sites come from? I don't understand what's going on.
Can anyone tell me what's happening here?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi
I don't know. My iMovie is trying to connect to:
mach_kernel.dw.buffalo.edu
The domain dw.buffalo.edu is one of my search domains in my system preferences. I deny the connection, and iMovie seems to be fine with that.
Sometimes web sites I visit try to connect to that same domain, even though by rights they should know nothing about that domain.
So now I wonder if the domain your iMovie is trying to connect to is listed as a search domain in your system preferences.

A site I need for consulting purposes (http://www.aegtelecom.com.pt/) requires an add-on known as “Intranet for Firefox”. When one accepts the add-on installation, a return message is displayed claiming that it cannot be found. At this point, I have to use IE to access the site. However, being a steadfast Firefox user, I would prefer to use Firefox for this purpose.

    http://www.aegtelecom.com.pt/contactos <br />
Have you tried contacting that web site's support department for help with that issue? <br />
If that web site can't find the add-on it says is needed, they need to fix that problem with their servers.
Or you can try using IE Tab2 to run IE in a Firefox tab. <br />

  • I am having to use IE to access your site to send you a question about why Firefox is not loading even your own home page? Also can i go back to the previous version of Firefox, as this version (4.0) has a huge number of problems?

It started out as once in a while the page would load, but be blank. Now it is nearly every website I attempt to go shows it loads the page, as the address is listed in the top. it shows the page name in the tab, but the page is blank.
As I said in my question, I am having to contact you on IE, because Firefox won't load it's own pages.
So that you know, it had been years snce I used IE, Since loading 4.0 it has become a daily event.

You might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/
If you want to go back to 3.6x, you will find it here:
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

  • When I use the CTUOnline site, the IM window will not open, and the Outlook mail frequently crashes. I do not have these problems if I access the site via Safari. I am using a Mac OS 10.4.11.

I am teaching an online course through CTUOnline. I use a Mac OS 10.4.11. When I access the site thru Firefox, the IM chat window just says "Loading" but never loads. My campus mail, which is accessed through Outlook, frequently boots me out. I must copy and save every message, because I cannot predict when it will go through and when I will be thrown out. I have set my Preferences to allow pop-ups from ctuonline.edu and from campus.ctuonline.edu. I do not have these (connection?) problems when I access the site through Safari.

  • How do I use "saved passwords" to access a site?

I have a list of saved passwords in firefox. So what steps do I use to access the site. If I click on the saved password entry nothing happens? I want to use firefox saved passwords software. I used to use Roboform where I had a list of logins and just clicked on the entry and the username/password was entered automatically. Can firefox do this, too? If so tell me how to do it? Where's the list of logins in firefox that I can click on and have the username & password filled in from the saved list? My windows XP/pro died so I had to transfer data to Win7. Some of my Roboform data was lost so I am starting over and want to use Firefox software for username/password to access sites similar to the way Roboform works? Tell me how?

  • Can't access some sites when using Aiport Express, why?

I'm using Windows 7 and my router is a wireless Apple Airport Express that is approximately two years old. Suddenly I can't access some sites (for example www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se, or www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk, some streamed tv-shows on svtplay.se, and a number of other random sites) when connecting to internet with my router. It worked good until recently and I'm fairly sure this problem emerged when my ISP upgraded from 10/10mbit to 100/10mbit speed. Most other sites like facebook and google works fine.
When using my network cable to connect to internet everything works fine and I can access these sites.
Firmware is current and I've tried reseting the router to factory defaults.
Tried different browsers, and I can't ping the "blocked" sites either. Tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se starts with 10.0.0.1 and continues through a number of long addresses until it says timeout. The last working address before timeout was sth-tcy-ipcore01-ge-0-2-0.neq.dgcsystems.net [83.241.252.13], if it matters. Tracert www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk also eventually gives me a timeout.
When the network cable is plugged in, I still get timeout on tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se even though I can access the site in Chrome. Weird. www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk doesn't give me a tracert timeout when the cable is plugged in, and I can access the site as usual.
I've tried changing DNS servers to use opendns servers instead, but to no use.
I've tried pinging these two sites with a lower MTU packet size (with this method: http://www.richard-slater.co.uk/archives/2009/10/23/change-your-mtu-under-vista- or-windows-7/), but still can't access them through ping...
I don't know what to do anymore.... any suggestions???
    Thanks

first try to disable JavaScript from : Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content panel > '''UNcheck''' Enable JavaScript.
if the above does not help check with a few malware/virus scan programs for virus. You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. Make sure to update each program to get the latest version before doing a scan.

  • I cannot access a site I use often as a403 error occurs. How do I resolve

I cannot access a site I use often as a 403 error occurs. How do I resolve?

You need to contact the website and tell them to upgrade their security protocols. Especially the following:
    * The site uses SSLv3, meaning it's vulnerable to the well known POODLE attack. https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/10/14/the-poodle-attack-and-the-end-of-ssl-3-0/
    * The site uses RC4, which is insecure.
    * The site does not support TLS 1.2, which is recommended.
You can see a full list of all the problems with the website at https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=secure.crbonline.gov.uk
It very soon will not work in Google Chrome either, so it's in the website's best interest to update ASAP (besides protecting their users from having all their data and information stolen)

  • Access https site using Java, is it possible?

I am new on https programming, please give me some advice on this issue.
I have to access an https site, say: https://someoneelsesite/
That site needs a client certificate. I got one certificate which I can now use it to acess the site using IE Web Browser.
Now my question is: is it possible for me writing a Java program to access that site? ( I need to download a file each day on that site)
I read some articles from this forum. Information I got looks like I need https site's public server certificate which I do not have. All I have is a client certificate given by that site to me.
    Some one please advise.
    Thanks a lot.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I searched this site before. The post I got says I need a public certificate of web serve which I do not have. (Maybe I understand it wrong!)
Could you post some piece of your code which connect a https site with only client certificate?

Hi--I tried your suggestion and no dice. A window came up with the following:The item 'Firefox.exe' that has this shortcut will no longer work properly. Do you want to delete?
Another window said 'C:Program files (x86) Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe' specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.
I have no clue as to what that means. I did delete the shortcut.
Finally went into our Kaspersky virus protection and found Firefox is in quarantine and that is probably why I am unable to uninstall and reinstall.
    Any ideas????
    Thanks, Ginny

  • When accessing Intranet sites that use SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows give an error of "improperly formatted DER-encoded message"

When accessing Intranet sites with that have SSL Certificates issued by our internal PKI, FF for Windows gives an error messsage - An error occurred during a connection to myshaw. security library: improperly formatted DER-encoded message. (Error code: sec_error_bad_der)
Chrome and IE work fine. This is a new PKI using the SHA-2 signature algorithm.

    Hi Guigs2,
From the other post you link too, I can confirm that both the Root and Subordinate CA have been commissioned with the:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CertSvc\Configuration\IssuingCA\CSP\AlternateSignatureAlgorithm = 1
registry key set. As can be seen above, the Signature algorithm on an issued certificate is RSASSA-PSS. This is been Microsoft suggested deployment IF you do not wish to support either XP or Windows 2003 machine and lower. In fact, I believe the option has been around since Windows 2008, however, there were of course, a lot more XP machines back then.
The obvious answer is that we would like to maintain the updated algorithm, AND see support for it added for Firefox. I think you will see a LOT more posts like this as people deploy more 2012 PKI infrastructure supporting only Windows 7 and up. Heavens, we may well be forced to Chrome or even back to IE!!! Whilst I do not what to necessary open up other potential vulnerabilities, for the sake of testing, what do you mean by disabling mozilla:pkix?

  • Checking email from site that use Outlook Web Access Lite

I just got a Blackberry 8330 and need to use it for checking email from my company's email server.
It turns out that this server uses Outlook Web Access lite. I am currently not able to check the mail as I am
getting errors that say the browser needs to accept cookies. Also something about scripting.
Does anybody know how to work around this problem?
I don't want to "integrate" this email account so that I get the messages pushed to the Blackberry- only to be able to
access the email site and check the email.
    Solutions Please!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It might not actually be a cookie problem...since I don't access OWA in the way you want (I do integrate it via BIS...very slick!), I can only guess.
From within the Browser, click the BBKey and select Options. Inside of there are a ton of different options, including one that lets your BB browser identify to a website as IE, FF, or BB...the default being, of course, BB. If you change that to IE, you might have more luck. That setting is in the Browser Configuration screen and is usually called Browser Identification.
There are also many other settings that may be helpful...basically you need to fiddle around with these until you find the combination that works right for your specific situation. But I'd try the Browser ID/Emulation first.
    Cheers!

  • When attempting to access a specific web page on my iPad, the page seems to load then quickly disappears (resembling a white/black we page). Other sites seem fine. Note this is also occurring when I use Chrome (to access the same page).

When attempting to access a specific web site on my iPad http://www.sggplastering.co.uk the page seems to load then quickly disappears (resembling a white web page). Other sites seem fine.

Thanks so much for addressing my question. Note that the site (www.xula.edu) was working with Safari this morning, but not this afternoon. I also have now been able to access it with Chrome (remember I could not access the site with Chrome initially). Essentially one time while the site was loading on Chrome I clicked another link on the site and opened a new tab for the link- the original page then loaded and now continues to load. I've been trying to do the same with Safari but the page loads and "goes to white" to quickly.
Other notes: I've powered off my iPad (did not help) and restarted my iPad (also did not help). I can also access all other links (to other www.xula.edu related pages on the site using Safari - I find them via a google search)- it's just the home page that loads then goes to "white screen" very quickly. Thanks again for your reply - any help/advice provided is greatly appreciated.
