IMovie video result different than original.

I purchased the app iMovie as I had 2 videos that I took with my iPad4, iOS7.0.4 and I wanted to combine them into 1 video. After I did this the resulting video looked as if I had taken it from a greater distance than the original videos in my camera roll. I took my videos with my iPad of my computer monitor screen. The resulting video after combining them showed the whole monitor with space around it. I just wanted the resulting video to have the same look as my original videos in my camera roll viewer. Any suggestions on how I can acheive this?  Thank you.....

I can only guess you have some kind of color-management problem on your system, as I just did a test and didn't see any differences between the preview display in the Merge to HDR Pro dialog and the final result.
What color profile are you using for your input images?
Is it the same as your default working profile?
I shouldn't think it would matter what profiles you're using - Photoshop should handle them all properly - but clearly something's causing your saturation to be massively different, which is the kind of thing you might see if a narrow gamut image is being interpreted as though it has a wide gamut color profile (or displayed without color management on a wide gamut monitor).  I do know that HDR processing converts images to your default working profile under some conditions.
Another possibility is that the display of the image in the HDR Pro dialog is misinterpreting (or neglecting to use) the image color profile.
That's a very pretty sunset shot, by the way.

  • Merge to HDR Pro: Result different than preview

    Hi all,
    at the moment I use Photomatix 3 Pro to create HDR images, but since Photoshop CS5 offers this functionality too, I wanted to try it out.
    I selected my three differently exposed images in Mini Bridge and loaded them into Photoshop via "Merge to HDR Pro...". The preview window opened and I could adjust the settings, so far so good. I adjusted the settings until the preview image met my expectations and pressed OK, but the result looked pretty different to the preview image. Especially the saturation was way too high. Converting the photos to JPEG first or using the raw files makes practically no difference.
    I followed a video tutorial, but there the preview and the result matched almost exactly.
    In a different thread I read about a similar problem, but the only solution given there was checking the 32-bit view options. I am using the 8- or 16-bit mode only, so that wasn't helpful for me.
    I hope someone can help me, otherwise I have to stick to Photomatix.
    Two pictures to illustrate my problem (this is the german version of Photoshop, click on the image to see the original size):
    This is how the preview looked right bevore clicking OK:
    And this is how the generated image looked afterwards:

  • Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

    I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.
    How do I keep the original size after exportation of videos?

  • Why are saturation results different than Matlab's imhist() function?

    We have a machine vision application where we had set some threshold levels in Matlab, and had planned on applying them to NI's IMAQ libraries. However, when trying to reproduce a set of Matlab results to verify our VB code was working, we found that we could reproduce Matlab's results on the R, G, B, and H planes, but not the S plane.
    For example, if you take the 50% red image at http://www.cae.tntech.edu/~mwr/red-50.png and load it into both Vision Builder and Matlab, you get the following results:
    Matlab:
    rgb=imread('red-50.png');
    hsv=rgb2hsv(rgb);
    [hist_s,bins]=imhist(hsv(:,:,2),101);
    bins(find(hist_s==max(hist_s)))
    ans =
    0.5000
    Vision Builder 6.0.5:
    Load red-50.png
    Extract Col
    or Planes: HSL - Saturation Plane
    Histogram -> results in a peak in bin 64 on a 0-255 scale.
    How many different ways are there to calculate saturation? So far, Matlab and Corel Photo-Paint agree on their calculations, and Vision Builder is the odd one.

    Mike,
    Thank you for posting on the forum. We spoke regarding this question, but I wanted to reply to this post with some information for other readers. You can see how we are calculating the HSL plane by examining the equations in the Vision Concepts Manual. Using the formulas, I was able to confirm that we are calculating the value for the HSL plane from the equation listed there:
    S = 255(1-3min(R,G,B)/(R+G+B))
    where R, G, and B in this equation are normalized. So given an RGB image (255,127,127) then we get the following values:
    S = 255(1-(3*.5)/(2))
    S = 63.75
    I also created an image in just MS Paint with the RGB values of (255,127,127) and that gave me HSL values of (0,240,180) -- or in MS Word HSL values of (0,255,191). These latter values match
    ed the HSI values returned from LabVIEW (using the IMAQ ColorHistogram VI).

  • Duplicate version looks different than original -- same adjustments

    This morning I imported a few photos (D70 RAW), found they looked good with the default processing (no adjustments applied other than the default RAW 1.1 processing), and created duplicate versions to crop to different sizes. The duplicate versions look different -- the dark areas of the photos are lighter and noisier (sorry, still learning proper photo terminology). The duplicate versions have the identical adjustments (none). I tried toggling the cropping on/off, and the duplicate versions still look different.
    This is very odd... has anybody else experienced this?
    iMac 24" 2.16GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2.0 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256 MB Nikon D70

    I did a little more investigation on this issue, and found that when I make the duplicate version, the image still looks identical. It is when I crop the image that things get messed up -- even if I then remove the crop adjustment.

  • Imported video is smaller than original

    When I import videos to after effects the video is not in the original format.  The video appears to be cropped, not just NOT widescreen, but the edges are chopped off.

    Well, stop using After Effects, switch to Premiere to edit your video. If you must do green screen keying, learn how to get your video into your computer first.
    Welcome to the Adobe family but this user forum is not a place where you can learn how to use these apps. It's a place where other users can help you deal with problems. Shooting and importing video is handled in your camera' manual and in the Quick Start documents that come with Premiere. Video is hard. Really hard. Try not to get too discouraged.

  • Why is video size different to original when exporting from Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore?

    Hi there
    My source files in Premiere Pro are 1920 x 1080.
    When I export the sequence to Encore to burn to a DVD the size in the burned DVD changes to 720 x 576
    In Encore project area I have these two entries
    The encoding settings for the above two entries are
    this (for the first entry above)...
    and this (for the second entry above)...
    It does not seem to be possible to change the encoding to 1920 x 1080 for the first enry and as such the video is being burned as 720x576.
    How can I fix this? What am I doing wrong?

    DVD is 720x576 you cannot change that.
    If you want 1920x1080 which is HD you need to make a BluRay.
    You can however make an AVCHD disk which is HD on DVD.
    About 20 minutes will fit on a DVD and will only (but not all) BluRay players.

  • Backing up iphoto dates are different than original photos

    I called apple about this but I find his answer hard to believe. I've exported some photos onto a folder on my desktop so I can burn a DVD to be used in a windows machine. I have young children so the date the photo was taken is extremely important to me. When clicking on a photo that I've exported and "getting info" on it, it shows the date created is about 4 days later than the date the photo is actually taken. iphoto displays the correct date, why should it change on an export? I tried exporting using filename, then tried using "title" etc and it didn't change. The answer I got from apple is that I would have to individually rename all 4000 photos with the date in the file name in order to maintain the correct dates.

    The date doesn‘t change on export, the application reading the date does.
    iPhoto (and any serious photo app) gets its date info from the EXIF data that your camera writes to the shot. This is the photographic metadata.
    The Finder isn’t a photo app, it’s a file organiser. It doesn’t read the Exif, it reads the file data, which is not the same thing.
    There are apps that will rename the files fro you, based on the Exif. Here’s one:

  • Cutting up a video into different events using iMovie

    I have just imported a large homemade video into iMovie which is just one file but contains footage taken from various holidays I have been on. Is there a way to separate the video into different events under the Event Library? I seem to be having trouble working out how to do it.

    It is possible in the event library, but I would suggest that you do it in an app called MPEG Streamclip. It will be much faster and easier to do it using MPEG Streamclip.
    Download MPEG Streamclip here.
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    Drag your large file into MPEG Streamclip.
    Now, set your playhead to the beginning of the first event, and type i for in point. move the playhead to the end of this clips, and type o for out point. Then, use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your codec. (Note: if your original clips are in DV, you may wish to stick with DV. Otherwise use Apple Intermediate Codec, and don't change any of the settings. Give it a name and location. You can import this into an iMovie Event using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE in iMovie.
    Repeat this until you have all the clips you need.

  • How do you save your videos in iMovie to a different location on your computer?

    Since i upgraded to OSX Mavericks imovie keeps switching itself off when trying to export video to DVD.
    Genius Bar told me i need to save my videos first then delete imovie and then download imovie from the app store.
    How do i save my videos in imovie to a different location on my imac so i can then delete imovie????

    Copy the iMovie Library. It should be in YourUserFolder/Movies/iMovie Library. See iMovie (2013): Work with multiple libraries

    Sorry. We can't help you. It's no longer an iPhone. Apple won't touch it.
    Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
    iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked.

  • Why are colors of embedded videos opened with acrobat different to original files?

    Hello,
    I generated a videoclip in Premiere CC in different formates ( mp4, mov; flv.... ) and embedded it in an Indesign document. From there I generated an interactive PDF. Opening the file in Acrobat, the colors of the video are different as in a videoplayer like quicktime. Opening the pdf in a browser like safari, the colors are correct. Alternative I embedded the video with acobat pro but the result was the same like before. What is the reason for this problem? Do I have to mange some special colorsetting in the video or are there some presettings to be done in Acrobat?

    If you open System Preferences / Displays / Color can
    you change the color profile to others in the list?
    Or, do you get a "beep" and no change?
    I can change the color profile.

    The Firefox icon is the default feature for Windows Vista and 7 only, it does not apply to Windows XP users.
    To have the Firefox icon instead of the Menu Bar:
    View > Toolbars and UNCHECK the Menu Bar.
    After that, click on the Firefox icon and you'll have the Menu Bar appear again.
