IMovie videos freezing, music continues to play?

I'm creating a montage of some videos on iMovie with a song as the backing track, however I've hit a brick wall of sorts because I can no longer add videos without the clip I add freezing.  The music continues to play, but the video I add just freezes.  It doesn't matter what video clip I add (I've tried a few in case it was the clip that was causing the problem) but it happens to all of them.  The rest of the video plays fine.  I've made plenty of videos like this before and I've never faced this problem so I have no idea what it could be!  Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

That's normal and as designed. The song will play out. You can pause it by pressing one of the volume buttons or use an app like 'Stop the Music' to completely exit the player.

    Could be the graphics card, run the Apple Hardware Test
    If the hardware test doesn't reveal any problems, use Lion Recovery.

  • IMovie video freezes during playback; transitions not working

    I'm nearing the end of making a video in iMovie. I have several clips, transitions, and music added. On some spots, the video playback stops, while the music continues; one or two clips later the video picks up again. I've deleted that section of video and re-inserted a similar clip only to have the same problem. Additionally, the transition into that particular clip doesn't work. When i play the raw video clip, it works just fine. I don't understand. Someone have a clue what's going on?

    You might be able to narrow down which item is causing the problem and deleting it. First create a duplicate project:
    Click the Project Library button and highlight the name of your project by click on it just once so that it will be colored in blue.
    Go to File Menu > Duplicate Project, iMovie will create a duplicate with a number added to the end of the name
    Open the Duplicate project and try deleting a picture, or transition or video clip where the video freezes or even just before the point where it freezes.
    Playback the movie and see if it reacts differently.
    Just try one thing at time and you might discover it's one item in the Project timeline that's causing the problem. Once you find the source of the problem, you can try replacing it or just leave it out until you finish the project and export it. Sometimes it's difficult to figure out how something got corrupted and subsequently how to ressurect it.

  • Dvd player not working after Instaling OS X 10.8.4 Video freezes while audio keeps playing

    After installing OS X 10.8.4 I tried to play a DVD and the video starts to freeze up while audio keeps playing. Video eventually stops completely while audio continues to play. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this issue??

    Try booting into the Safe Mode to see if the same problem occurs.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Video freezes, audio continues...

    Okay, this has been going on long enough. When I attempt to play videos I've gotten through iTunes, they won't play properly. The video freezes after a few seconds and never resumes, while audio continues with no problem. Why is this happening? It started when I upgraded to 7.1.6, and while I've seen that there are ways of re-installing 7.1.5, the method is such a headache I can't imagine there isn't an easier way. This is a frustrating problem that has been going on for some time, I can't believe Apple hasn't addressed it yet.

    My iMac G4 was playing these videos perfectly fine until this 7.1.6 update, so I know my computer can play the files. I guess I am just annoyed that fixing the problem requires me to jump through so many hoops. I'm also annoyed that I've been seeing complaints about this on multiple forums, so it's clearly not a small issue. I wish Apple would either do something about it, or stop making it so darn difficult to correct.
    All right, that was largely a rant. If archiving, cloning and whatnot is the only solution, then I'll try it.

  • Video freezing, audio continues with .mov files

    I just tried taking video with a new Kodak M1033HD camera, which it creates .mov files. When I play the .mov video file on the camera is works fine. But when I try playing it on my computer (using Quicktime as well as Windows player (using Vista OS), the video freezes, stutters, stops and starts, but the audio plays right through perfectly. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Jay

    This sounds similar to what I reported in, "Problem viewing video in QuickTime 7.5.5" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1864506&tstart=105
    Sorry that I don't have a good answer yet.

  • Background music continues to play when app exited

    I just had a review of one of my apps from amazon on the kindle fire and the result came back saying:
    Upon completion of our compatibility test processes, your app was found to be unresponsive when subjected to testing. To be compatible with Kindle Fire, the app’s core features must be responsive to user commands, and its primary functionality accessible and compliant with device specifications. Currently, the background music of the app continues to play even when the app has been exited.
    to get my background music to loop I use this code
    import flash.media.SoundMixer
    var musicplayed:int = 0;
    var MusicPlayer:Sound = new Music();
    var songChannel:SoundChannel;
    songChannel = MusicPlayer.play();
    function loopMusic(event:Event)
      songChannel = MusicPlayer.play();
              songChannel.addEventListener(Event.SOUND_COMPLETE, loopMusic);
    any idea whats wrong? It doesn't have this issue on iOS

    Hi, I'm developing an app for android, and added the event handlers for Deactivate and Activate to turn the music off or on. It is working if I press the home button but if I set the device on sleep (idle) and then turn it on, the Activate Event is triggered in the unlock screen. So the music starts on the unlock screen, this is very frustrating because I just had an app rejected on Samsung Apps Store because of this issue .
    <Defect>
    The application reproduces sound in the unlock screen.
    <Procedure>
    1 Start the app
    2 Lock the device
    3 Press the device's hold button without fully sliding to unlock
    4 Notice that the application's audio is playing
    <Expected Result>
    The application should not reproduce sound untill after the device is fully unlocked.
    Anyone here that knows a workaround for this problem?

  • Videos and Music will not play using Safari or Chrome

    I have tried every trouble shooting option I can find on the internet. Nothing is working. Adobe is fully updated. Safari is fully updated. Chrome is fully updated. Videos will not play on websties such as CNN, CBC. Music will not play on websites such as Sound Cloud.
    YouTube and Netflix work fine.

    You're dealing with two different plug-ins.
    Flash Player (Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/Flash Player.plugin)
    and "PepperFlash" (Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/Versions/34.0.1847.116/Google Chrome Framework.framework/Internet Plug-Ins/PepperFlash/PepperFlashPlayer.plugin)
    And NetFlix uses the Microsoft SilverLight plug-in.
    From SoundCloud support:
    Why can't I hear tracks using Safari?
      If you can't hear tracks on SoundCloud using Safari, please go to Safari ---> Preferences ---> Advanced ---> and un-check "Stop plugins to save power." Like this:
    If YouTube works, it may be doing so in HTML5 mode which requires no plug-in. Do you use Apple's Firewall or (please say you don't) anti-virus?

  • Slideshow freezes music continues

    Hi, I have been working on slideshow using the sliding panel theme. The slide show has about 300 pics. There is one place in the slide show pic 118 were the slideshow stops but the music continues. It does not matter what picture is in that slot the slideshow always pauses here. Any ideas on how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated. I have made several slideshows before, but have not come across this issue.

    How may slides per slideshow are we talking about? Is it over 99 images by any chance?

  • Videos and Music won't play

    Hey. I got my video iPod really recently at christmas, and everything's worked fine till now. I had my iPod plugged into my computer overnight to charge. This morning, I got up, turned off my computer, and unplugged my ipod.
    Now, only some of my music plays. For instance, I might select a song and it plays fine. BUt sometimes, I'll select a song, and it'll switch to the "now playing" page like normal. displaying the name, time remainging, album art, etc. But only for a second. Then it'll skip ahead a few songs to the next one that plays normally.
    Also, whenever I click on ANY of my videos (music videos, tv shows, movies, etc.) it just goes to a black screen and freezes for about thirty seconds (none of the buttons work) and then goes back to the menu I selected the video on.
    The weirdest part is that I can connect my iPod to my computer and watch all of my vids and listen to ALL of my songs FROM THE IPOD, not the computer, and it works.
    Please tell me what to do about this weird problem.

    It sounds like you need to restore your iPod and re-sync your content to it.

  • Workaround for 7.1.6 video freeze (audio continues)

    Recognizing that solutions can sometimes be difficult to search for, I'm posting this because it has helped at least a few -- particularly those with G4 iMacs.
    If your symptoms are
    o Updated QT Pro from 7.1.5 to 7.1.6
    o Video files play normally up to a point, then the image freezes while audio continues
    o Happens with any file format -- mov, mp4, dv, avi, etc.
    then your workaround might be
    o Quit QuickTime Player
    o Manually put the system to sleep (apple menu in upper left of menu bar) for ~10 seconds
    o Now try playing the files
    If this solution works for you, keep in mind that you'll need to do it once again anytime you restart/reboot.
    Why does this work? Not sure -- maybe something to do with how QT interacts with video settings stored in PRAM. That would account for why certain machines are affected while others are not. PRAM settings are not identical in every model.

    I figured out a way to reinstall QuickTime 7.1.5.
    1. Download Quicktime 7.1.5 installer:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime715formac.html
    2. Mount the installer package. This is very important.
    3. Download and install Pacifist from this location:
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
    4. Run Pacifist. In its dialog press the "Open Package" button. Browse for the .PKG file in the mounted package. In the appearing list Right Click on the .PKG and from the context menu choose "Install To Default Location". Please note that if you mistakenly select the unmounted .DMG file into Pacifist instead of the PKG, there will be an installation but without an effect.
    5. Check in the "User Administrator Privileges" checkbox. Press Install.
    6. When asked tell the installer to replace the already existing files. Do this with all the files.
    7. When the install process is finished restart the computer.
    8. Run the QuickTime 7.1.5 installer package again WITHOUT Pacifist and let it install the files again.
    9. Restart the computer

  • I need to record a video while music app is playing

    HI, I couldn't find the answer anywhere, and maybe it's not a common question.
    I need to record a video with the camera app, but I need the music app (or whatever app, like spotify) to keep playing the song in the background, because I want to record the song as well. But the default behavior, when you choose video mode, is to stop the music from playing.
    I am asking this because the iPad is the only thing I got with me at the moment, so I need everything done with it (the music playing and the camera recording)
    Is that even possible, or the default behavior cannot be bypassed?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the help Demo.
    I am gonna have to find another way to do this then, because the iMovie solution is not exactly what I need, and I was imagining that the default behavior could not be override.
    Thanks again

  • TS3274 Video and music won't play

    I can't get the video's online or in my gallery to play. Same with any music, like Pandora Radio. I can't seem to find any online support for this issue. Can anyone help?

    There is an issue with the latest iTunes version that is causing downloaded movies/songs from not playing on your computer, but should work on your iPod. Until Apple releases an update that'll fix this, this problem will probably not go away.
