Imovie volume change has no effect.

I don't quite understand what's going on here. It used to work fine, but now when I attempt to make any changes to audio tracks, it doesn't work. Ducking, fade-in, fade-out and even adjusting the volume of a single clip, are all no longer possible. The sliders move and there's no error message, I click done in the box, and voila, no change has occured! Even reducing the volume to 0% doesn't work. I have not made any significant changes in hardware or software-nothing that affects the operating system or Imovie, that is. I can't understand why a program would just suddenly lose capabilities for no reason. No other program on my computer is exhibiting any problems that weren't there before this started happening-otherwise, I'd suspect a failing hard drive, or a need to defragment or re-install OS X.
I have noticed several other posts with similar problems. I would suspect a software bug (i.e. a mistake in the development) but Imovie '11 used to work fine, and this problem didn't crop up following an update. Could such misbehavior mean I need to de-frag my hard drive? It's not like the project I'm working on is to blame because I tried starting a new project from scratch, and the same thing still happens.
If I don't get an answer, I may re-install Imovie to see if that helps anything.

Another general purpose trouble shooting step is to Run Disk Utility: Repair Permissions on the whole hard drive. Then reboot the Mac and see if the sound editing functions come back.
Similarly, deleting the Preferences file for iMovie can help in some cases (another general purpose step) Go to Mac HD>Users>(your home folder)>Library>Preferences>com.apple.iMovie9.plist and move that file to the trash. Restart iMovie and try to set the volume on that clip again.

Wrong Channels Being Mapped for 5.1 - Changing Has No Effect.

I just setup a new edit suite using a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme 3D Card, running on a PC with Windows 7.
Initially my 5.1 channel mapping required altering in Premier to get the correct output to the correct speakers but once sorted all worked great.... until today! For some reason no matter what I do some of the channels are now mixed up, and changing the mapping preferences has no effect. I am getting the Centre channel coming from the Rear Right and Rear Left is coming out of the Sub! I have my preferences set to output from the BlackMagic Audio Device, but even swapping left and right channels has no effect.
If I flick over to Audition and map the channels for a 5.1 mix it works fine and has the correct output which I guess rules out a problem with the DeckLink. This is REALLY frustrating me, any suggestions or advice on what could be the issue with premier would be greatly appreciated!

Volume changes not taking effect in nested sequence

Sometimes when I make volume changes to a clip in a sequence the change does not carry over to the master sequence that the original is nested in. What am I doing wrong? I am double clicking on the nested sequence in the master sequence to open it before I make the change to it.

I'm not sure it applies to your case, but I had similar problems with video rendering: changes to the nested sequence sometimes didn't appear in the nesting sequence, and attempt to render didn't work because ... there was nothing to render according to FCE.
Then I forced FCE to render: I first selected the nested sequence (in the main sequence), then I first applied "Disable Clip" (contextual menu) and then "Enable Clip", and finally the render bar changed to red (or orange), meaning it needed rendering. I rendered, and all changes in the nested sequence appeared in the nesting sequence as well.
Maybe it works also with volumes in your case...

Long time ago I added Google Maps as a keyword search (maps <address>), which hasn't been working for a while.
After a little research, I've found out, that I had to change the URL for the search, the problem is though, that I can't find the bookmark anywhere! I've tried to create the bookmark again, with the correct URL, but somehow the old keyword has a higher priority, and therefore I'm still directed to the blank Google Maps page.

Changing bounds origin of UIView has no effect

I try to pan/scroll a big image(500x500) in a small frame (200,200) like in Google Maps. Changing bounds origin of UIImageView has no effect. The same part of image is displayed by the view.

Ok, I found out what's wrong.
To "pan" an image you have to change bounds origin of PARENT view.

So like the title says, i need a good video editor that opens up m4v files and has similar effects to windows movie maker. I accidentely removed iMovie from my computer and now i have nothing. Please don't suggest some really expense/advanced editors. Thanks!

ctrl B makes the top bar (File. Edit. View. Controls. Store. Help.) appear and disappear.
ctrl S makes a side bar appear on the left side of iTunes. It shows the library which has Music. Movies. TV Shows. Apps. Playlists. Ect.
When I did the steps you suggested, my iPhone did not show up in that list.
I checked my firewall settings again, and they seem to be okay. My firewall is the only thing that I am not 100% sure of. If I go to Control Pannel>System and Security>Windows Firewall>Allow an app through Windows Firewall. It shows that iTunes is allowed. I'm not sure if something else might need to be allowed as well though. I have a few Remote options that are not allowed such as, Remote Event Log Management, Remote Scheduled Tasks Management, Remote Shutdown, Remote Volume Management, and Routing and Remote Access. I'm not sure if any of these need to be allowed or not, or if they are even affiliated with iTunes.

Change of Min Pool Size has no effect?

Hi, we are still using odp 9.2.0.4 on windows server 2003 webserver and oracle database 9i on Sun solaris. Recently we discovered a problem using Min Pool Size = 1, it seems that if new connections are required we sometimes get a connection timeout. So we decided to set Min Pool Size = 30, and on the testserver this works fine. In the odp tracefile (tracelevel=2) you see the 30 connections building up immediately. But on the production server we see no difference, it looks like the (new installed, application pool reset) application still uses the Min Pool Size = 1 setting.
The connection string is build up in application code. On the testserver it was sufficient to stop and start the website and its application pool, on the production server this has no effect.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem is??? We also tried restarting the IIS server, that did not help either. In production there are more applications using ODP.

What problem are you trying to solve at this point? Simply "why is odp not tracing?" The only suggestions I really have there are
1) make sure you restart the app after enabling tracing parameters
2) make sure the directory you've set tracing to is open as far as permissions
3) make sure you've set tracing in the right registry setting if you have multiple versions of ODP installed
4) if you're trying to write to c:\ root, try creating and pointing to a different (c:\odptrace for example) directory instead.

Widescreen setting in video - tv out has no effect

after a couple of hours of experimentation, i have concluded that the widescreen setting (on/off) in the tv out section of the video settings has no effect. i believe what it SHOULD do is adjust the signal to display properly on a widescreen (16x9) tv. i believe it does nothing. video displays stretched and squashed (photos too btw). this is after experimenting with the same itunes-purchased and non-itunes purchased videos on both my ipad and my iphone 3gs, using the same tv and the apple component av cable. the iphone works fine. the only way to get a semi-acceptable display on the tv with the ipad is to the set to tv to normal 4x3 display. (late model sony lcd hdtv). then you get thick black bars around the picture. with the iphone i can leave the tv display setting at it's regular "full" option and the picture fills the screen properly. i tried both sd and hd videos on the ipad. (sd only on the iphone obviously). does anyone else have this issue? is there a bug in the ipad software? is there a problem with MY ipad? will a software restore help?

i tried a fair amount of stuff. here's 2 examples:
1) itunes store copy of an episode of the office in both hd and sd.
2) digital copy of the new star trek movie
so the first is 16x9 and the second is a widescreen movie 2.35-1.
both look fine when playing back off the iphone 3gs (sd copy of the office). both looked stretched horizontally and squashed vertically when playing off the ipad. note that everything looks fine on the ipad itself. it just messed up when connecting
the ipad to my tv. in all cases, the widescreen setting in the tv out section of the video panel on the ipad has NO effect.
i can change the screen settings ON THE TV to fix the distortion but then i end up with thick black bars on all 4 sides. and i don't need to do this with the iphone 3gs. i continue to believe something is wrong with the ipad (or MY ipad).

Main "Play Control" volume changes on its own when I open these programs, and when they're closed the main volume resets to where it was before the program was opened.
Surely I'm not the only one who has had this problem before.. I've had the problem with both Creative soundcards I've owned, before and after different drivers installations.
It can be very irritating and can potentially lead to damaged speakers if I'm not paying close attention to what my various volume knobs are set at before and after I open these programs.

Headphones stop working after a certain time and the notification for sound change has disappeared

Win7 64bit.
I have a Pavilion dv6, and occasionally no sound will go through headphones when the jack is plugged in. The headphones themselves are not at fault, they are brand new and work fine.
When the headphones are plugged in, the sound will only go through the laptop speakers. I've tried updating the drivers, fiddling with the jack and socket (as I read on google), the only resolution I have found is to restart the comp, which is a bit of a pisstake in all fairness and I'd rather not do that every time it happens.
5 minutes ago I was watching a TV show, listening through the headphones, when I pulled out my USB mouse (and accidentally the charger with it). The sound then switched from the headphones to the speaker.
If I open the sound settings, it will display the headphones as being plugged in, but the sound indicator bar (thingy) will only rise and fall on the speaker icon bar.
Currently I have the audio jack pulled out about a centimetre, this allows sound through the headphones, but the sound is noticeably different to what it should be.
I had rolled it back to "High Definition Audio Device", then reinstalled it to the most current driver. This hasn't fixed it.
Also, this may be a related issue: (I guess) around the same time, the beats audio notification that pops up on screen when the volume is changed has disappeared and doesn't display when the volume has changed.
In microsoft sound control panel, it has the default speakers and the headphone logo, when i plug in the jack, a green phone circle thing appears by the headphone option, meaning it works i guess. However, the description changes from "ready" to "default communications device" and nothing changes for the regular speaker device.
When I go to >configure, and test each (L/R) speaker, if the headphones are plugged in, the noise is louder then when they're not plugged it
But yeah, brand new headphones, brand new laptop, it's mad. What's madder is that the headphones will work for x amount of time, then stop working when I next try to use them...

ADF Faces 10.1.3.0.4 - two-digit-year-start has no effect?

I have problem with entering date with an af:selectInputDate control:
the user enters the date and on an onblur event, the adf field
automatically reformats it:
10.10.10 ->10.10.2010
10.10.60 ->10.10.1960
The user (customer) wants 2 things to change:
1. if the given two digit year <= actual year (06):
10.10.06 ->10.10.2006
otherwise
10.10.07 ->10.10.1907
2. by entering a date, adf have to be accept the date without dots too:
101006 ->10.10.2006
1.: I tried to set theconfig param: <two-digit-year-start>2006</two-digit-year-start> (or with an EL expression) in the adf-faces-config.xml but it has no effect.
Is it a totally wrong idea or is it a bug?
Any other idea?
2.: Is it possible to solve this problem with a built in control or converter? Or do i have to write my own converter?

Opportunities with volume changes

Our company has opportunities that can bring in revenue over several months, quarters, or even years. More often than not, a volume trend will be associated with the revenue.
Is there a way to properly forecast the volume changes within a particular opportunity, or do I need to have our sales team create a new opportunity each time the the unit volume adjusts?
For Example:
Opportunity XYZ:
Q1 2009 = 1000 units x $1 = $1000
Q2 2009 = 2000 units x $1 = $2000
Q3 2009 = 3000 Units x $1 = $3000
Q3 2009 = 1500 Units x $1 = $1500

Thank you for the feedback. Yes the product revenue object will address my needs. However, its not very intuitive for the sales team to use. The opportunity has sales stage, the revenue has sales stage... they both have closed dates. Its somewhat of a mess to get people up to speed. I have found it much easier to not use the revenue object and keep it simple within the Opportunity details.
