Imovie will not recognize itunes

All of a sudden imovie will not authorize my computer to play purchased itunes music, It will not allow an older project to play a song that played 3 months ago., or allow a purchased song to be added to a newer project from my library. Do I have a virus? Why wont the imovie recognize itunes.

You are not alone. The following thread may be of help:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7425929&#7425929
You might try closing iTunes and iMovie and then trashing the files com.apple.iTunes.plist and com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User/Library/Preferences. (The programs will create new .plist files upon relaunch.) Then do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app on your Mac.
Is it possible that you for some reason changed the name on your iTunes account so that the purchased songs are not recognized as authorized?
Is your iTunes updated to current version? But I would avoid updating to Quicktime 7.5 at this time, as some users have reported problems with jerky playback and out of sync music after the update.
Finally, try posting your question on the iTunes forum and see if those folks have a solution.
Good luck with this.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.

  • IMovie will not recognize Panasonic AG-HSC1U

I cannot get iMovie 7.1 to recognize AVCHD video download from Panasonic AG-HSC1U hard drive. Does anyone have an answer to this problem?

    That's odd.
If you have an empty iMovie project, iMovie will switch to the attached camera's standard (in this case PAL).
If the iMovie project is NOT empty, iMovie will tell you it can't import from the camera, because it's of the wrong standard.
If you need to convert between PAL<->NTSC, use the JES DeInterlacer for best results:

  • IPhone 3Gs will NOT recognize iTunes NOR charge with my PC but ....

My iPhone 3Gs (16GBytes white model) will NOT show up on iTunes NOR charge with my PC but it will charge with the wall plug.
    My iPhone 3Gs IMEI: 01 203100 586260 3
It is an unlocked iPhone purchased directly from one of Apple store online in Asia.
I am currently traveling in Asia and using a local SIM card.
All of a sudden today, it will not charge on my laptop. It still charges on the wall plug. I suspect that it has to do with me plugging the phone into another public but older PC (running Windows XP) - was attempting to charge my phone but that public PC did not show that it was charging or recognizing the iPhone.
It will not charge or sync no matter what I do. I tried using the power button + home button. I tried holding the home button then plugging in the USB cable. I tried erasing all the data on the phone. All of the above failed.
Now I have the screen where it shows that I have to plug in the USB cable to activate my phone!

  • IMovie will not recognize my iTunes library-any suggestions?

Trying to import music from iTunes library (set up as iTunes Match) into iMovie, but when I click music icon on the right to import and prompt iTunes/Sound effect options-nothing comes up. The sound effects are there, but my iTunes library is not. It says to 'Open iTunes to Populate this list' at the bottom right of the menu.
I've updated iTunes as well as iMovie, hoping to resolve. But no luck.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

As far as I can tell iMovie only sees music that you've downloaded to your computer. Identify it and then go to iTunes and redownload the song and it should be solved.

  • IPhoto will not recognize itunes playlists

I have had this problem for a couple months now where iphoto slideshows and idvd, and imovie cannot find any of the itunes music playlists and the pop-up for slideshows just says "open itunes 6 or higher to populate list" but never does.
I recently upgraded to ilife 08 hoping that that would solve the issue but its still there. After reading some posts online i tried rebuilding my itunes library xml file many times, opened the apps in the correct order, repaired permissions deleted, threw away preference plist files, and even threw away and reinstalled several of the apps. None of them seemed to solve the issue. Anyone have any ideas to get the iapps to see itunes playlists again?? Please help

No, this is a purely diagnostic step. It tells us that both iTunes and iPhoto are okay, there's no need to re-install them and that the issue is somewhere in your main user account.
When the apps interact, iPhoto reads the iTunes xml file, and the problem is in there somewhere, so I would also be posting over there.
All my comments about the iTunes xml file are based on what I've learned about the iPhoto one. They may not necessarily apply.
Where is your iTunes Library? On your start up drive? On an external? If an external, what format is it?
Do you have any non-ascii characters in your mp3 metadata or tags (essentially, anything not a-z or 0-9)
    Regards

  • Installations will not recognize itunes.msi

My itunes was installed on my external drive, marked H: . The drive fried, and i am trying to install itunes on my harddrive, C:
I get an error message during installation:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click ok to enter again, or enter an alternate path to the foldercontaining the installation package “itunes.msi” "
I clicked ok to retry—no luck. This error message came up.
"the path c:\documents and settings\owner\local settings\application data\apple\apple software\update\itunes.msi cannot be found. verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package “itunes.msi” "
I found the file "itunes.msi" in Windows\downloaded installations, and I cut and pasted it to c:\documents and settings\owner\local settings\application data\apple\apple softwareupdate\ , and I pressed okay to retry, but even though the file is in the directory, the installer didn’t recognize it, and I got the message, “The older version of itunes cannot be removed. Contact your support group.” So, I had to cancel.
    Any suggestions?

When you get these types of message, you usually need to do an installer file clean up.
Here is a method for removal of iTunes and related components with clean up and reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • TS1538 my phone will not recognize itunes or charging unit

The other day i notice that the iphone 3gs says this charging accesory is not supported. It is the same charger it came with. It was charging but very slow itunes was recognizing the phone and now its not. While plugged in the phone is draining what battery life it has. I bought a new charger but it wasnt that. i don't know hat else to do. Please help!

Are you using a new ord or the same one from when it did not charge?  Is it an Apple ord or from a third party?  Try a different cord and see if that works.  If that does not help, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have it checked.

  • IMovie 11 will not recognize panasonic hdc-sd90 camera

I have just shot my first clip with this video camera and am trying to import it into imovie 11 but imovie will not recognize the camera even though the video camera shows up in system profiler ? any suggstions please.

One cable, or an adapter plug for the cable? I assume the former.
If the Sony works, you can capture using that most likely.
    About this Mac>More Info
You should see the camera identified here:
If it's not seen by the OS it can't be seen by iMovie, regardless of the version you're using.

  • IMovie will not recognise my SD card?

I'm trying to import movie files into iMovie using the built in card reader on my iMac. The card is recognised in finder windows and on the desktop however when trying to import on iMovie the only thing to import seems to be via the facetime camera.
Is there any way of solving this?
    Regards

If I have a card that iMovie will not recognize, even to make a camera archive, then I would suggest using Disk Utility to make a disk image of the card.
First I would insert the card and examine it in the Finder. See how much space is utilized on the card. You will want to make your disk image that size - but slightly larger.
    Open Disk Utiltiy
Click "New Image" on the top bar of Disk Utility.
Give the disk image a name in the Save As box.
Also, Give a name in the Disk Image box.
For Size, Choose Custom, and enter a size large enough to hold the contents of your card. (which you found out above).
For Format, leave it as Mac OS Extended (journaled)
For Partitions, leave it as Single Partition. (Can be Apple Partition Map, GUID, etc.)
For Image Format, choose Read/Write Disk Image.
    Now click Create.
You should now have an empty Disk Image that is large enough to contain your card.
Mount the Disk Image and use the Finder to copy the entire contents of the SD card to the Disk Image.
Now, you can eject the card. Open iMovie and import from the Disk Image using FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA. If the Finder could read the card, chances are this will work. A mounted Disk Image should look identical to the camera card, but now it is no longer FAT32.
If it still will not work, you can fall back on some of the tools that can read MTS files like ClipWrap or Voltaic HD. I am told there are free tools, but I do not have experience with them.
