Imovie won't publish my video? Is it a space issue?

I made a 10 min video and tried to "finalize" it. It said it couldn't publish it. Can't remember exactly what it said but it used the word "heap" or something. What does that mean?

Dunno-I've used imovie for a while now, and I think you mean "Share" or Export
if you're tried to do this a bunch of times, try looking for 'Imovie cache" where your old stuff might be-sucessful or otherwise, and if not needed, throw it out
-are you maybe talking about iDVD? I don't know how much RAM you have in your mac Pro, but more is certainly helpful....
I'd like to help you more, but I'd need to know what version of iMovie, what your OS is, how much ram, etc, then maybe I could help you. Oh, and btw, iMovie only accepts certain types of videos-MOV, DV and MP4, maybe that's helpful, maybe not. Try using something like MPEG streamclip to convert whatever it was into a more "iMOvie friendly format". Usually, it's "import from Camera " or "Import" then the movie should show up along the bottom. then you click, drag, and let go, then drag the segments you want into the upper box, and when you're done, then I think you can do a "share". but I can't really help you much. you could try "BURN" which should let you make DVD's of basic videos-not too fancy, but it should work okay

Where do you want to publish to? The default for iWeb is to a MMe account. Click on the site folder in iWeb's left hand pane and setup where you want to publish (see below). If it's to a commercial server you will either have to publish to a folder on your Mac and use a FTP client like the free CyberDuck to upload or use iWeb's built in ftp client and set the path in the window shown below.

I have tried to upload a video to YouTube from my iPhone 4 but when I name it youtube says cannot publish name. Does anybody know why and how an change this thanks

Unfortunately, this question is being asked all over the internet and apparently, even the monitors here cannot answer the question. Beyond frustrating.

IMovie won't publish to Media Browser

First let me say that iMovie 8 has been a disaster. The only changes I have made to my setup in the past 12 months has been adding memory (up to 4GB) and upgrading to Leopard.
My latest (and show stopping) frustration occurs when I try to run iDVD and burn a movie to a DVD. Apparently, I nos need to publish the movie to the Media Browser in order to have iDVD access my iMovie project. But when I try to publish it to media Browser as a Medium sized Movie or a Large Movie, about 20 minutes into the process I get an error message that says, "Unable to prepare project for publishing - The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error code = =43)"
Does anyone know what this is all about? I have tried this three times and get teh same error message every time.
I'm just about ready to uninstall and go back a few revs. This is ridiculous and it's very frustrating.

If you are referring to -43 error code, I believe this is a "File not found" error. Most likely either one of your files has been lost or deleted at the finder level or one (or more) of your thumbnails has a bad reference pointer.

IMovie won't publish to YouTube

I've tried publishing this project 2 times now...it takes about 2 hours to actually publish, but after the progress bar has filled, nothing happens. I've uploaded several times before and it usually tells me that it has published to youtube but may take some time before it's there kind of message, and then it gives me a button to go view it. But now I'm not getting that at all an it's extremely frustrating to wait 2 hours for it to not be published. The only thing I have seen as far as "solutions" is to export it to desktop and then use youtubes uploader. That isn't a solution, just a workaround. I don't want to do that because the export time is 6 Hours, which is ridiculous when the share option is there..and has worked in the past. Someone please help.

IMovie won't import my video from USB, SD, iPhoto

I'm using iMovie on a Mac mini. I have videos for a school project on a USB drive. I can't drag them into iMovie for some reason so I got my SD card that also had the videos on them. I imported them into iPhoto and it still wouldn't work. I can get the USB and something called No Name (I'm assuming that's my SD card) on the side of iMovie in the Event Library but there is a little yellow triangle warning sign and when I click on the icons, nothing happens. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be gladly appreciated.

Try moving the video onto your computer, then in iMovie: File>Import>Movies. Navigate to it and import it into an event.
Let us know if that doesn't work!

My iMovie won't upload my videos from iPhoto or even from my desktop, how do I fix this?

I need to do some editing on my short movie for an A.P. Literature final that is due tomorrow. I took the video using my iPhone and then uploaded them to iPhoto. When I went to upload my videos from iPhoto to iMovie it wouldn't work. I tried moving all of the videos to my desktop, but that still didn't work. How do I make it work?! Please, I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem tonight.

IMovie won't import my Videos!

Need some help with iMovie. Converted a number of .avi files on my PC to mp4 format suitable for iPad3. When I open iMovie it says that I have no videos but if I go to Videos app I have heaps of video/movies/podcasts. Location services are turned on already so not that. Videos aren't appearing in camera roll or iPhoto either. Any advice to get these clips in so that I can create a movie would be much appreciated.

iMovie iOS was designed to edit video shot on the iOS device, so it cannot edit videos in the movies / videos app.
You need to import the video to the photos app.
Do this via the photos tab in iTunes, once you open the iPad.
MAke sure to tick the import videos button.
OR via the camera connection kit.
There are many explanations of this in this forum, do a quick search and you will see detailed descriptions.

IMovie won't see iPhoto video

I have iMovie '11 and iPhoto. I have imported a quicktime movie (Quicktime is running up-to-date) into iPhoto. When opening iMovie however I cannot see this movie in the iPhoto movies section and therefore cannot use it in iMovie. I have restarted all: iMovie, iPhoto and my Mac and nothing changes. Help!

Good to hear that you now have the video in iMovie. Importing to an Event allows you to organise your videos much more efficiently than using iPhoto (movies for iMovie; photos for iPhoto).

Imovie won't playback on video ipod

I converted my movie 6 movie to share it with my video ipod. It shows up and plays in itunes. The movie also shows up on my video ipod but when I go to play it all I get is a black screen for a few seconds and then it goes back to the movie title in the play list. Help!!

I have exactly same problem. Came on here to see if there were previous threads about this problem. A bit worrying that a solution hasn't already been posted. I thought I was forgetting to do something fundemental. I have managed to download onto my iPod music vids and video podcasts that I purchased from iTunes music store and although I can import and play ripped dvd's in iTunes they do not play back on iPod even though they are listed in menu, I just get 10 seconds of a black screen. Hopefully somebody will be able to advise us as to a solution?

Premiere Pro cc won't publish working video...

I've added two videos .wmv files with small edits and am trying to export>media>wmv.. PP takes the time to encode but when finished the video doesn't work. Any ideas? The finished video will load in media player but immediately end.

This forum contains my exact issue: getting After Effects to recognize a codec; however, I am using premiere pro cc. THere has been a few people on these forums complaining of the same issue now and then.
The easier fix is to export to the camera roll, and send to You Tube from the photos app.
