IMovie won't update because of an old card.

Hello!
Besides buying a new iMAC, what can I do to get an updated card for my iMAC (purch. 03/2008) so that I can update the newest version of OSX Maverick iMovie App??  I upgraded to OSX Maverick yesterday.  I'm not sure what my options are on this. Thanks!!

Nothing, you cannot upgrade the GPU in you iMac. Sorry for the bad news but if your machine is too old then well it's too old.

You can't all apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase/download it.

The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a early 2008 iMac supposedly limited to 4 GB and noticed an improvement.

  • IPhoto and iMovie won't update on my MacBook Pro OS 10.8.3

I have a MacBook Pro, s/n W8******AGZ, running OS 10.8.3. Ever since the last update of 10.8.2 I've been having problems updating my iPhoto software. Now, just recently, iMovie won't update either.

i'm the only one on my mac. i only have 1 itunes account so it has nothing to do with any UserID issue. i tried reindexing spotlight. This has been an issue for about a month now.  Then i deleted iPhoto app and securely emptied the trash. All my software was in my macbook pro when it was shipped to me Feb. 2011. These are the two software, in question. iMovie is giving me the same message now.

  • Help! iMovie won't update.

    Urgent!
I recently downloaded iMovie to my macbook. It is version 9.0.7. In the updates section in the app store, I press the update button. It lets me put in my password and then it just goes back to being 'update' again. I've tried multiple times and it still won't work.
I need to update this ASAP as I need the newest version for a project. What do I do?

  • IMovie won't update to 9.0.8, Mac App Store tells me I have to buy?

So, the problem I am having, as alluded to by the title, is that in the "Updates section of the Mac App Store, iMovie has an update to 9.0.8 listed, but when I attempt to update to the new version, the Mac App Store tells me I need to buy it, However, iMovie came preinstalled on my 1 1/2 month old Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I don't use iMovie often, so it's not a big deal, but I do find it very annoying.

When you get a new Mac with the iLife apps preinstalled, you need to accept these apps into your Mac App Store (MAS)/iTunes Stores Apple ID. Have you done that?
Normally soon after setting up your new Mac you need to open the MAS and sign into your account. Go to the Purchased pane and acccept the three iLife apps.

  • Itunes won't update because it doesn't recognize my password

I changed my itunes password when Apple began requiring a capital letter and number. But now my iphoto needs to be updated because the version I'm currently using isn't compatible with my imac. However, it says it can't update it because my password is different from the one i originally bought the app with. How do I update it?

    Hey srodney1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you forget your Apple ID password or don't know it, you can reset it by following the steps in this article.

  • IMovie won't open because it's "being updated" - but there's no iMovie activity in the App Store!

Just today, I tried opening iMovie to work on a project. I get an error message that reads: " You can't open the application "iMovie" because it is being updated." This then kicks me out to the App Store - but there's no iMovie update in progress there. It's driving me insane.
On top of that, when I try to perform the updates WITHIN the app store - Mavericks and some other apps - I click "update" and nothing happens. Any troubleshooting advice? I really need this to work.
I'm on 10.8.5, on a Macbook Pro bought in 2012.

I had this same problem. The way I solved it was to go into the app store, and specifically click on iMovie. The tab there mentioned something like "upgrade" (where normally you would see "buy"). If I click on that, there is a pull down menu that says that I do not have the lastest operating system for the new movie, but that I can reinstall the older version. When I clicked on that option, it reinstalled iMovie (which for some reason just hadn't worked in Mountain Lion). It worked just fine. I didn't have to pay. If you are signed in at the app store, and click on iMovie, hopefully you will be presented with this option as well.

  • I changed my apple ID email and my apps won't update because it keeps using my old AppleID email

I only changed the email address so I could actually receive my email receipts etc.
I also changed it on my icloud account and deleted the old AppleID. It has changed on everything except when I go to update my apps it always pulls up my old AppleID. Even when I put in the password it says it is wrong. I have tried resetting it but it also states that my information on file is wrong.
Really not sure what to do here.

I didn't generate a new appleID. I changed the email on my apple ID so now it won't even recognize my old ID or password. I tried restting m\y password but it said my birthday didn't even match and I asked to send an email to reset the password on my old account but I have yet to receive an email. I get that i need to log into the old account, thats fine, the issue is that even doing that won't work and I didn't change the password on the old account so I don't know WHY it is not being accepted.

  • IMovie won't open because it says its still installing... 6 months later

I can't seem to get iMovie to open because every time I click to open the application it says it can't open while it's benign updated... the thing is, I don't remember when I updated it's been so long... essentially it's been updating for about 6 months now! I tried trashing all versions of iMovie on my computer, but when I try to reinstall it, it just keeps giving me the same thing.  Not sure what to do now... please help!

I am having the same problem! I tried moving it to the Trash and this gave me a message "Would you like to cancel the update?" I clicked Cancel but when moved back out of the trash it automatically returned to its previous state, stuck on update. I tried the same but clicked "Continue Upload" to see if it would trigger it to re-start, but that did not work. I also tried Delete App. Each time it just reverted where it was when I took it out of the Trash. It has been a week and stuck in the same place. I am connected to the internet. The App Store says there are no new updates, but when I search iMovie it says it is 'updating'.
    Any other ideas?

  • My ipod touch has software 2.2.1 but all the apps now require newer software. It won't update because it says it's the up to date software. do i need to buy a new ipod touch?

I can't update my ipod touch software because when i check for updates using itunes it says the software is up to date. Does this mean i have to get a newer ipod touch or is there a way to manually update the software to the newer versions?

You probably have a 1G iPod.  See here:
    Identifying iPod models
The 1G can go as far as 3.1.3.  You can purchase that update here.  You may have to use another browser to get the sublink to work correctly.

I keep getting prompts saying that a website is unsecure and not protected. I also get prompts telling me to update, but when I follow them I'm told my operating system is too old and that I should go to Mozilla's website to get the latest version which works with OSX 10.4.11, but I can't find said version, but I do find plenty of references to a particular version being on the brink of no longer being supported.
