IMovie won't upload my latest project

I have uploaded many movies to youtube, even some that are just under an hour.  BUT, I am trying to upload my latest "small" project a trailer and it is refusing.  I is giving me an error message "Sharing requires more memory to be available - Quit iMovie and relaunch it"  Then it only gives me the OK button.  I have plenty of memory computer only 6 months old.  Anyone have any ideas, really need to get this project up.

Thanks AppleMan, but I have done all that many times......I am really stumbed here.  Any other ideas.
Appreciate your help.

Basically goes around the fact of uploading your movie strait to YouTube.  By first exporting it to your desktop then uploading it to TouTube.

  • Imovie won't edit or play project

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to Macs, but I am really struggling with this, and can't find any solution that seems to work.
Basically, I've been editing a project in Imovie for a few weeks. Yesterday, I was editing and closed without issue, in the exact same way I had done for the last few weeks.
Today, I can open Imovie, but my project won't open, nor will it play, either in the preview window or full view. In fact, it won't even allow me to open the project and see all thumbs.
I've googled it, and the only suggestions I can find suggest I delete the preferences file or delete and reinstall imovie, both of which I have done, neither of which work.
Does anyone have a working solution, as I am starting to get worried I will lost all I had done up until now.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
The problem you are seeing appears similar to what others here are reporting (including me). However, in our case the project appears in Finder but is not listed in iMovie's Project Library.
From your description, it sound like you can see the project in the Project Library, but it simply won't open. Is this correct? If so, it's slightly different to what we are seeing (or not seeing)!

Sorry I can't provide any advice as to a remedy for this very frustrating issue. Please provide feedback to Apple, as I've described in the above link.

  • IMovie won't share/export my project as it says 'not enough disk space' - how on earth do I get this movie onto a DVD?

I really hope someone can help me please?
I have a 16GB iPad and have created a really nice wedding DVD for my sister.  It consists of about 20 mins worth of video clips and 25 mins of images set to music with movement between slides etc.  I have cleared absolutely everything off that's possible from my memory and I can't seem to get the iMovie project off my iPad!  My storage says that 8.7GB is taken up by iMovie and I've deleted all photos from my camera roll as iMovie can run the project without them, it doesn't cope without the video clips though (tried that!)
I hve now tried exporting to iTunes and it says I don't have enough disk space - I don't understand how it can't just lift the project off my iPad without having to consume yet more storage?  I have also tried exporting to camera roll trying 1080pHD - too big.  It started on the 710pHD and got all the way through exporting (around 30 mins) and then at the end told me I didn't have enough disk space.  Funnily enough, iMovie was only taking up around 6GB of space prior to this, so it's storing this failed attempt to export some how but I can't see how I can get rid of that.
I am heartbroken that I've spent three months doing this and now can't transport it from my iPad by seeminly any means possible.  I don't want to just give up.  I've seen other threads that say 'go to my computer and look in the DCIM folder and it's there... but it's not.  All the video clips are there but not the actual project.
Any help anyone can give would be so much appreciated.  Is there a way I can do this without essentially having to give up on apple products and buy some video editing software for my PC. Which isn't a MAC by the way.  As you can tell, I was hoping to screen this movie on Christmas day for the family :-(

Are any of your apps video players? Some app store apps contain a file you can't see which saves logs of everything you do. Say if you have had an iPhone for 4 months and watched 50 videos with a video player these 50 videos may have been copied to the log file inside the application and may be what is using up all your disk space. Delete all video player applications from your iPhone.
If that doesn't solve the problem copy the photos to your computer and restore your iPhone with iTunes back to factory settings and when you have restored DO NOT "restore from back up" because that might restore whatever is causing the problem instead DO "set up as new iPhone". Once you've set up your iPhone sync apps, books music, photos...etc back to the device.

  • Imovie won't recognize camera, english project due tuesday help!!!!

I am using a Sony DCR-TRV480 video camera. I am using a IEEE 1394 6 to 4 firewire to connect it. The tape format is Hi8. I've been told that certain older tapes marked 8mm will not work with Imovie 08 which is what i'm using. The thing is that the same tape i just recorded on, i've pulled video off of before for a different project and it is an 8mm tape. I've tried replacing my firewire, restarting computer, having the camera connected to a power source or not, turning the camera on and off, toggling thru the options on my camera and going back to the play/edit option. I've also heard of people messing with garageband for a while and then trying to import again and also messing with mobileme and then having the import work. I've tried both of those too. When i go into the system profiler and click firewire, it comes up in red saying a list of firewire devices cannot be shown and below in black shows the speed of the firewire port. the computer is a macbook running mac osx 10.5.4. I don't think i have any other info i can put up here. I need help.

See my answer in your other post about iMovie HD 6.
As for your Hi-8 camcorder, it's actually a Digital-8 camcorder.
    Sony's own troubleshooting page http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId =C86798&fes=true&mdl=DCRTRV480 says..
    1. Ensure the i.LINK cable is connected securely to the camcorder and computer.
    2. Ensure the camcorder is turned on and being powered by the supplied AC power adapter.
..So try running the camcorder on its AC power adapter while you're using it with iMovie!

  • If iMovie Won't Start-No New Project Menu item ( 7.1.1 or 7.1) - How To Fix

    Go to display preferences.
Change (for now) to Apple RGB or one of the Apple presets.
If you have a "XXX [name] Calibrated" profile delete it (if you did an import assistant install and have a bunch of old profiles for old monitors, delete them too)
Re-calibrate and give the profile a new name.
Apparently old 10.4 calibrations upset iMovie 7.1 on and you make a new one and it works.

Same exact issue here. Brand new iMac purchased on 10/30 that still had Tiger installed... Thanks for putting all that upgrade work on me Apple! I waited until after the release to order my iMac so I wouldn't have to go through the brain damage of upgrading, only to find out that I had to spend hours upgrading the brand-new machine! I have not had internet access to get the latest patches, but should have such access tonight to download the patches that might fix this.
iMovie apparently doesn't work on a brand-new iMac when all you have are the DVD's that shipped with it. I even tried applying the various updates from the Leopard dvd and tried re-installing iMovie from the Tiger dvd.
If you fixed this problem, please reply here and reveal what it was... Thanks!

  • My iMovie won't upload my videos from iPhoto or even from my desktop, how do I fix this?

I need to do some editing on my short movie for an A.P. Literature final that is due tomorrow. I took the video using my iPhone and then uploaded them to iPhoto. When I went to upload my videos from iPhoto to iMovie it wouldn't work. I tried moving all of the videos to my desktop, but that still didn't work. How do I make it work?! Please, I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me with this problem tonight.

  • Ios 6 imovie won't upload to youtube

I have an iphone 5 with iOS 6 and iMovie. I have set up a family Google account but iMovie says it can't upload to this account without any other information. It processes it but can't upload it to You Tube. Any suggestions?

  • IMovie won't upload/recognize certain iphone videos from iPhoto.

I have a MacBook, Mac OS X version 10.6.8. I have recently started making some more movies to document my daughter's life in iMovie. I am having trouble getting certain movies from iPhoto to transfer to iMovie. When I opened iMovie it said it was making thumbnails, and it did...but not for all of the movies from my iPhone. I didn't realize this until I was almost done with my movie in iMovie. I restarted both iMovie and iPhoto to try to get the movies recognized. I have tried so many different things and nothing is working. All movies are .mov form. I am using the '08 version of both iMovie and iPhoto. Now I can't drag the movies anywhere, they are grey when I look them up in Finder. Any ideas?
Here is a screenshot from one of my attempts to make it work.

THere has been a few people on these forums complaining of the same issue now and then.

  • IMovie won't play my project

I finished my movie, went to export and got the "Unable to prepare project for publishing" message.
I tried closing iMovie and coming back to my project, but now it won't let me even play my project.
I've tried removing the iMovie caches and preferences. I even updated to the latest iMovie 9.0.4 version. No avail.
    Please help!

  • Imovie won't open any projects after upgrading to yosemite

Can anyone help? I upgraded to yosemite and imovie 10.0.6 and now imovie won't open. IPhoto and Garageband open just fine. After clicking Imovie, it appears in the menu bar but all options from the drop down menus are grayed out. I cannot open any projects and there is no imovie window opening. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the program twice with the same result. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Apple introduced a new document architecture with Pages v5, that is not backwards compatible with Pages '09. With Pages v5.5.2 (Yosemite) installed, a simple double-click on a Pages '09 document will default open it in Pages v5. Once you save, or Pages autosaves this document, it is no longer directly compatible with Pages '09, without first exporting it to Pages '09 format. Pages v5 documents do not contain index.xml files, and Pages '09 documents do.

  • I HAVE COMPLETED SEVERAL IMOVIES AND FINALIZED JUST FINE.  NOW I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM MY LATEST PROJECT.  "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred.  (File already open with write permission)"!  What is going on

I HAVE COMPLETED SEVERAL IMOVIES AND FINALIZED JUST FINE.  NOW I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM MY LATEST PROJECT.  "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred.  (File already open with write permission)"!  What is going on?

    Hi
Error -49 opWrErr  File already open with write permission
Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
    • Create a new User-Account
    • Log out of Your old one and into this
    • Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.
    from Karsten Schlüter
Some users notice on exporting larger projects from within iMovie that this operation is aborted with an 'error -49'
This issue occurs only on MacOs machines using 10.7x
try switching-off the Local Mobile Backup
    in Terminal copy/paste
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
    Re-launch Mac
