IMovie wont recognise the selection when making new movie
Hi!
I just got my MacBook recently and decided to plug my DV camera in. I opened the iMovie app and the pane came up to choose the input movie type. I chose DV Widescreen. Pressed OK. The iMovie opened up and it was normal 4x3 ratio. I did this several times and still DV 4x3. I even tried formats that I didn't have and everytime it came back to 4x3 DV.
Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Some camcorders offer a special shooting mode called 16:9 video (that is, wide-screen format). When you import this 16:9 video into a DV Widescreen project, iMovie HD sometimes wants to letterbox it, adding horizontal black bands above and below. Since the video is already 16:9, that’s probably not what you want iMovie HD to do.
The letterboxing begins as soon as you switch from Camera mode to Edit mode and click on a clip. The workaround is to not switch modes after you’ve imported your video. Instead of switching to Edit mode, stay in Camera mode. Save the project, quit iMovie, and turn off the camera. When you reopen the project, the video will stay 16:9."

Why do I get a "no pixels selected" when making adjustments in a new layer?
What am I doing wrong? I want to modify or replace the color in a selection, so I make the selection, create a new layer, and try to replace the color from the Enhance menu. I get the message " can't do it because no pixels are selected." The selection is OK; I can see the marching ants. The same happens when I try other color adjustments and probably other adjustments as well. Would appreciate some help. Many thanks.
Sounds like you have an empty layer selected.
Even if you have a selection established (showing the marching ants), your creation of a New Layer means that your selection is now on that new layer, which is empty, and thus there are no pixels selected to modify.
Try skipping the New Layer step.
Or, duplicate the layer you want to work on, then do the selection, then the adjustment. -
I have a macbook retina with a partition of windows 7 and Yosemite. When I use time machine in Yosemite it wont recognise the macintosh HD, but it recognises the windows hd (bootcamp ). Does anybody know why ?
Please provide a bit more detail on what 'recognize' means. A screen shot is always very helpful.

i cant get my ipod to turn on - i tried to update it and it froze with an apple and loading bar on the screen. it finally asked me to plug it in to itunes which i have but then it wont recognise it and when it does it tries to restore it. itunes says it has been restored and needs to be synced but then it disappears and cant be found by itunes again. the ipod itself turns on for a few seconds but all of my apps have gone?! then all goes black and i have to start all over again. please help xxx

When making a movie with iMovie from Photos, some of them seems to move when watching on screen or TV.
It seems to be a brillance problem but I tried to make the light or the blank lower without result.Hello
The movement you see on photos in iMovie is most likely the Ken Burns motion effect, which you can modify or turn off.

I upgraded to yosemite and iOS 8 in order to record with quicktime. But when I select Record a new movies I immediately get an Operation Could not be completed error. When I choose record audio or screenshots, I get a little further, but as soon as I select my ipad as the source I get the same error message.
You don't need to be a developer for this to work. I get the same error. Just one more thing on the list that make me upset more and more with Apple. Things just don't work out of the box like they used to.
This new feature was to be included with iOS 8 and Yosemite. -

It seems to be the NEW APPLE ISSUE and it is related with the SIM card, lots of people (like me) are experiencing different problems but all go trough there, and it's not the SIM, it's the iPhone, hope they give us a good 5.1 software. Hope it has helped

There won't be any. iOS is a sandboxed OS and third-party apps won't be able to prevent access to other apps.

Ive installed io7 on my ipad and now itunes (onwindows 8) wont recognise the device (the icon next to the iTune store icon), have run diagnostics and everything ok. My ipad asks if the computer is trustworthy then it trys to search for photos/videos and says none found! I have done everything....................Help please

Can any help. I want to transfer photos on my Iphone 4s to my PC, my computer will not recognise the phone when I connect via the USB port to the PC. Any Ideas would be appreciated.
Do you get any response from the computer when you plug the phone in? I'm guessing that you are going into Computer to see if you find the phone? If you go into Device Manager, do you see any errors in the USB area?

Hello, i was wondering why itunes retains all old backups of ipad/ipone... is thier a way of overwritting the backups when a new one is created ?

What kind of photos are you talking about?
Ones in the iPod's Camera Roll album are included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes. Photos synced to the iPod or not and they are not in your iTunes library either. You have to back those up separately.
Also the iPod backup that iTunes makes is not included in your iTunes library. It location is listed here:
