IMovie wont respond after i click "iPhoto Videos"

When i click on "iphoto videos" i get the color wheel, and it just goes indefinitely. I have had it sit their for hours. The only way I can stop it is to force quit.
I was thinking there may be an error in the software. I would like to reinstall, or maybe restore to factory settings. However, I really dont remember getting any iLife disks, or even an OSX disk. I remember everything being reloaded. I keep seeing things online about putting the disk in.....
what can i do? is there a re-install or a way to create that disk? is there an issue with iPhoto i am unaware of? Please Help! I have this awesome software that is basically useless.

IMovie 08 Crashes when I click "iPhoto Videos"

I've read a bunch of threads on here about iMovie crashing on startup. That was happening to me, but removing the iApps.plist file appears to have fixed that... sort of.
Now, when I open iMovie and click 'iPhoto Videos' it still crashes.
I'm not sure if it's going to go back to crashing all the time...I haven't found many (any) videos in iPhoto but I know, somewhere in my vast library of stuff, there are some little videos floating around.
Are there any solutions for this yet? I'm sure my problem is related to the problem others seem to be having too.

Itunes wont respond after using Windows 7 Phone Connector

I have a Zune and recently found that you can use that to sync the Zune with your MAC. I used it and it seemed to work at first (it synced all my itunes songs onto my Zune) but when I imported all my songs from my Zune it messed up my Itunes. Everytime I open it (even after force closing it and restarting my computer) it wont respond. It opens but the mouse turns into the loading icon and I cant click on anything. Any Ideas? I thought it may be just the amount of music I tried to import (I have about 30GB).

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

IMovie 11 does not see all iPhoto videos

As many guys are having different problems, but none as mine, I'm creating this new topic.
I just bought a MacBook Pro, and it came with iLife 11. I copied my pictures/movies folder to the Pictures system folder and imported all to iPhoto (but first, I unchecked the "copy to iPhoto library" option).
Doing so, iMovie didn't show the movies. After searching a little, I deleted all the Events, checked the "copy to library" back and imported the files again.
Now, I can see the videos there, but not all. Most interesting is that almost all videos are MP4 H.264, and some appears, others don't (they came from the same camera). Some other MPG MPEG-1/2 aren't there too.
I didn't migrated from previous versions of iLife. I installed QuickTime 7. The "copy to iPhoto library" is checked. I don't know what to do!

Neville, just to let you know (as promised), everything went very smoothly with my iLife '11 upgrade. All my iPhoto videos showed up in iMovie '11 within the item "iPhoto Videos" in the Events Library. But, as I mentioned earlier, my preferences are set to copy photos to the iPhoto Library.
After installing iLife '11, my first step was to open iPhoto and allow the database to update. Once I was satisfied that iPhoto was running OK, I then opened iMovie and waited for it to do all the upgrading. That went smoothly also, other than a warning about a Centred Title missing from one of my iPhoto Videos and that the video wouldn't play without it. I haven't bothered to track that down yet - the video wasn't identified in the warning message.
I appreciate this doesn't really help you solve your issue, but it does help to confirm that things seem to work OK when the iPhoto preference is set to the option I've selected (copy photos). Note that my iPhoto Library is located on the internal drive. I have a small number of photos that I keep in separate folders outside of the iPhoto Library - mainly stuff I've done for other people that I don't want cluttering up iPhoto (although I realise that these can be hidden in iPhoto).

IMovie too slow when using with iPhoto videos

Dear Geniuses
I do have several videos into iPhoto, many of them ... and using iMovie to edit video is INCREDIBLY slow ...
The only "solution" is to move the iPhoto videos into iMovie?
Any ideas if iMovie 10 or 11 or 12 will be better at this?
Is Aperture or Final Cut Pro X an alternative solution?

IMovie 09 with incorrect dates from iPhoto video clips ?

Hello. I just noticed that the majority of dates in my iMovie 09 for my iPhoto video clips all show the date for 1903. I need to go back and change the date in too many video clips to count. Is there an easier way to go back to the orginal dates? Thank you.

I too have iPhoto videos showing up in iMovie fine, but the dates are wrong in iMovie (correct in iPhoto).
Also, I have updated video titles in iPhoto, but those titles are not showing up consistently in iMovie. Perhaps related issue, I'm not sure.
Any idea if this could be a permissions issue? (Video is stored on an external drive). Or something else?

Imovie freeze on generating thumbnail for iphoto videos

When I open imovie, there is a message that says "do you want to generate iphoto video thumbmails?" now or later. As I have iphoto videos missing in imovie, i press on now. It then says that a certain movie is missing and then freezes and I cannot quit imovie.

Many people have been having the same problems this week because of he update. Someone on the forum mentioned uninstalling "Bonjour". +Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network - Wikipedia.+ If you have never needed it uninstall it. You could also try typing "MSCONFIG" in the Run selection under the accessories folder and un-checking it under the "Services" tab.
I personally have had the same problems. What i did was i un-checked it on the MSCONFIG menu first and then uninstalled Bonjour.

I have an web application written by JSP with Struts and EJB3 and installed in Glassfish V2HADB clustering with AM 7.1 and sun java webproxy 4.3 frontend.
After i click 5 times in IE then IE freeze.
But Firefox and other browsers without any problem.
I try to config Glassfish for increasing connection pooling etc... but it not work.

Try increasing the KeepAlive timeout for the proxy server. Make it 65 seconds or so (MSIE has a default KA timeout of 60 seconds, and it gets really grumpy if the server drops the KA connection before its own timeout happens).

I want to create new imovie project without having to upload iphoto video thumbnails.

I just loaded 4 iphoto libraries onto a new external hard drive. When I open up iMovie to try to begin creation of a new project, I can't start my project until "video thumbnails" are uploaded. I am getting a message on screen that says "Time Remaining is 100 hours."
How can I bypass this so that I can just continue to work on my new project?

If it's a drive that you've previously used with a PC, just double-check the format - click the drive once on the desktop to highlight it, and click cmd-i (the command key and the i key together) to see the Info window. That will tell you, under Format, how it's formatted.
If it's "NTFS", that's the current Windows format. You can read but not write to it with a Mac. If you want full read/write access, you should look into Paragon NTFS, which allows you to do both. Note that some features of te Mac (Time Machine, for example) will only work with Mac-formatted drives.

Imovie not responding after trying to import big file.

I have been attempting to import a large file onto imovie, and just before the file is finished and says that it will be imported in "under a minute" It will say that imovie is not responding. I've tryed restarting my macbook, and trying again with the same result. This is frustrating because I have uploaded a lot of home videos in which I need to edit and get onto dvd. please help!

How do you define 'large'? iMovie is designed to handle DV streams running at 13GB per hour!
What is the source of those files? What kind of files are they?
How would you be able to find out how much space you have free?
That really is pretty basic stuff. Every time you open a new Finder window it will tell you at the bottom of the window!
You don't say what Mac you have, and why are you still on 10.4.10 instead of updating to 10.4.11?
For iMovie to work at its best you need at least 20GB of free space.

IMovie 08' refuses to display my iPhoto videos

I've updated to iLife 08' (like most of us i guess)
anyway i have a problem with iMovie:
iMovie displays only a few videos from my iPhoto library,
although i have many more...
I tried to solve this in many ways, including re-installing the iLife 08
update, but there's no change...
what can I do?

It has loaded some of my videos, but only old ones that I created with my old fujifilm camera. My Sony camera's videos have no loaded.
I would assume that this is a codec issue on apple's part and will hopefully issue an update to resolve this issue. (sony uses .mpg files, i think they use the mpeg2 codec)
the old fujifilm camera (S602z) creates .avi files (i guess using the mpeg4 codec)
What format does your camera make the files in?
how can we issue a bug request to apple?

Embedded media player controls (play, stop, pause, etc.) on multiple sites will not respond in FireFox 12.0 or will only respond after multiple clicks

I go to multiple websites that contain embedded media, such as billburr.com, tunein.com, and forums where members embed media from sites like YouTube. When attempting to access or use that media, using the available play, stop, pause, and volume control buttons, FireFox doesn't respond. For example, If I'm on billburr.com and attempt to play the podcast, I can click the play button over and over again and nothing will happen. The play button lights up like the site realizes I'm clicking it, but the media will not play, at least not the first time. I might get it to work after several fast clicks. However, if I need to pause it, I have the same trouble. These sites work perfectly in IE 9. I've already started FireFox in safe mode, but encountered the same problem. Has anyone seen this?

For Firefox on 64 bit Windows, you need the 32 bit Flash version version because Firefox is a 32 bit application.

FCP Studio 2 wont respond after archive and instal... please help

Hi I have been on the imac forum with the first half of this problem. Ill start from the beginning to give you some background.
I did a routine apple software update and when restarting my computer it got stuck on the blue screen and would go no further. After trying everything I had to do an Archive and Instal. This worked and I can now fully boot up.
However, after this process my FCP S2 will not work. When I click on any of the FCP S2 icons, they bounce and nothing else happens. It does not matter if I do this from the apps folder or on the desk top. The strange thing is that DVD Studio will open and works like normal.
Is there anything I can do to get my FCP S2 programs to work again and if not how should I go about reinstalling so I will not lose all my projects. What is the proper procedure for deletion and reinstallation.
