Imovie09 Burning to DVD from HD project file

I have just burnt a HD edited imovie project file to a DVD using the 'large settings' in IDVD after exporting to media browser. The results when played on a DVD player are extremely low quality. There appears to be a considerable patterning affect on the pictures. The same poor quality is apparent when playing the DVD on the macbook. Playing the AVCHD project in Imovie is fine. Can anyone help with this, or experienced the same problem? I have just upgraded to Snow leopard, and have produced DVDs before using Leopard and Imovie with the same settings. Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • IDVD is missing in my Mac pro. How do I burn a DVD from iMovie project?

I have a new Mac pro and prepared a project in imovie. When I activated the share button for iDVD in iMovie, the application was not found. Any idea on how to burn my movie project to a DVD?

I have a new Mac pro
If you are still within your 15 day return period,  nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  (Ask to speak to a senior advisor.)

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk (don't get the download) for about $39.

I was trying to burn a DVD from files in a burn folder. They were pictures from my Nikon camera. I can play videos and movies from the same dvd player.    Thanks for any help you can offer,

    Thanks for your reply:
I did find an error log related to the error code and tried all suggestions on the list of recommendations, still no luck
I definitely am running OS X10.5.8 (hopefully will be updating later on this month)
I tried several brand new discs from the same box, still no luck.
My last option is to go out and try a different brand, guess I'll go with Verbatim this time but I think I'll poke around some more before buying 20 more new discs.

  • Re-burn a DVD from .m2v and .ac3 files

Can someone explain to me if one can re-burn a DVD from Compressor after you've created the .m2v (mpeg-2) and .AC3 (dolby audio) files?
Here is my problem. I create a DVD with Compressor and have both the .m2v and .ac3 files on my drive. I'd like to save these and not have to re-compress the original ProRes file all over again and just burn these again to another DVD in the future.
How do you do that? Do you need another program to do this?
    Any help appreciated!

No.  Compressor can't use the elementary streams to build a DVD.
To burn multiple DVDs, save to a disk image (Output Device = Hard Drive) and burn that from that in Disk Utility.

  • Burning a DVD from Final Cut Pro X via Compressor - No audio?

I have attempted to burn a DVD from a Final Cut Pro X project using Compressor, however the result was silent.
I used compressor because my FCPx project is in NTSC and my DVD is for air on Australian TV (PAL).
Image seemed to burn OK however there is no audio.  Can anyone advise what I may have overlooked?
This is the first time I have used Compressor, and I am fairly new to FCP X.
    thanks,
    Geoff

Thanks Russ.  OK, I am now rendering again via Compressor 4, this time I have 2 files in one tab - 1) a MPEG-2 and 2) an AC3 file.  Seems to make sense.
To burn the DVD immediately after, I added a 'Job Action' to 'Create DVD' after the render, and the dialog confuses me.  No problems with the 'Job Action' tab, but the "A/V Attributes" tab indicates the follwing:
Type:  Final Cut Pro.app  (shouldn't this be a reference to the rendered file/s?)
Video - showing the same dimensions of my FCPx Project file (NTSC  ..640 x 480)  instead of the MPEG-2 (Pal ...720 x 576).
Audio - Properties show Linear PCM... 6 channels, etc... not the AC3 file.
My question is, how do I create a DVD from the newly rendered files output from Compressor - is the Job Action the way to do it, and if so, how do I get it to reference the new files?
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • Burning a DVD from CS4 on a Windows 7 computer

I'm unable to burn a DVD from the edited timeline in CS4.   I have Windows 7 Home Premium software loaded on my PC.  When I go from Dynamic Link to Encore I get an error message stating Encore is not compatible with my PC.  How can I burn a DVD using CS4 and Windows 7?

Some people have problems with Dynamic Link, so first do it the old fashioned way to see if Encore works at all
A "simple project" step-by-step Tutorial for Encore (Not Dynamic Link)
    - once you've done a simple project, the user guide has lots more
    - http://www.pacifier.com/~jtsmith/Encore.txt
For CS4 you must update the Roxio component http://forums.adobe.com/thread/400484

As well as the below, right click the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator, which is NOT the same thing as running the computer with the Administrator account, and which fixes several "odd" problems... To create a dual layer DVD (or a BluRay?), you MUST have Encore set to use the Run as Administrator option

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the slowest possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim dual layer
Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable dual layer

  • Creating an installation DVD from CS4 download files

Greetings! Has anyone managed to create a functional installation DVD(s) from the downloaded files of CS4 Design Premium. After extracting the files, which folders have to go on which DVD? I have both WIN and MAC and would like to install these from DVD.
    Thanks.
    Cheers!
    Brad

Thanks for all the replies!! Gosh.<br /><br />Robert: Adobe support apparently told "cosmicone37" that "you can't create an installation DVD from the downloadable files. The only way to have a DVD installable version of any of the suites is to go through Adobe Support and get the DVDs through them."<br />As stated by me, this is simply not true. Read below.<br /><br />Mike: The images I see kicking around on torrent sites have been made from a trial download. That is certain. They say so explicitly.<br /><br />Try69: Thanks for the input. Yes, storing them on a DVD at least frees up the HDD space. But they are of no use unless copied back to the HDD each time one wishes to alter the installation etc. So I don't consider this a solution to the question Brad raised.<br /><br />Brad... et all...<br />Here is the answer. These instructions are for the master suite.<br /><br />1) In your DVD-DL burner software set up a new project. <br /><br />2) Call the disc ADBEMST4<br /><br />3) Using the free 7-Zip program (google for it) extract the contents of the ADBESTAMCS4_LS1.7z file you have downloaded.<br /><br />4) You need to edit the setup.xml file which is in the \Adobe CS4\Payloads folder<br /><br />Make it like this:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Setup version="2.0.138.0"><br />     <Driver folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"/><br />     <Media><br />          <Volume><br />               <Name>ADBEMST4</Name><br />               <Payloads><br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload><br /> ... snip (see note) ....<br /><Payload folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"></Payload><br /></Payloads><br /></Volume><br /></Media><br /></Setup><br /><br />NOTE: I have removed all but one of the payload lines because there are too many to post here. But on every payload line you are changing from:<br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR">Adobe CS4</Payload><br /><br />to<br /><br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload> <br />(as an example taken from the first payload line)<br /><br />Do that to every line. You are simply removing the "Adobe CS4" text.<br />Or download the edited xml from here: (only valid for 10 downloads as I am not a rapidshare user)<br /><br />http://rapidshare.com/files/160301059/Setup.xml.html<br /><br />5) Back to your DVD project. In the root of the disc you are creating, place all the files and folders in the \Adobe CS4 folder you ended up with after the extraction. Don't copy the \Adobe CS4 folder itself, just everything in it. So you'll end up with something looking like this: http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/8144/step5rh4.png   (image not from me, just one I found whilst researching this)<br /><br />If you want the extra files to be included (as found in STAMCS4_Cont_LS1.exe) then extract these with 7-Zip also. Copy the resulting files to your disc project. If you don't need the additional languages, then don't add them to the project. You may already be going over the limit for DVD-DL... so check on that.<br /><br />5) In your project put the new/edited setup.xml into the \Payloads folder. Remove the setup.xml already dragged into the project first, or overwrite it when you drag in the new one.<br /><br />6) Burn<br /><br />7) Install<br /><br />8) Enjoy<br /><br />If you have any questions let me know. If I've made typo's in the above and it doesn't make sense, let me know.<br /><br />All the best..<br />Jonathan

  • DVD from multiple flash files shows "loading" across 8/600 swf files

I got tossed into the middle of editing  a training dvd that is composed of several swf files.  I've made minor edits to content (spelling, grammer, etc), when I re-burn the dvd there are 8 files that display "loading" in blue upon opening (all files do this throughout the dvd) but with these particular files it never goes away.  It remains on the screen and visible underneath or behind the text.  Nearly 2 months ago, a round of edits was necessary and these same 8 files behaved normally.  Three of the eight files were not edited in either round, were fine on the last burn, and are now displaying the "loading" constantly. Would anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

The DVD is throwing a bit of a twist into it. I'm assuming you mean data DVD first off and this is all executable projector based content?
The best thing you can do to start is play the content in the Flash IDE so the debugger has a chance to show you any errors. Load the project and then run the debugger (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + ENTER) and let us know if you see any errors show up. Chances are you're hitting a snag and it's no longer running code properly.

  • Burning to DVD from iPhoto - Help!

    Hello All
I am trying to burn all our photos from iPhoto to DVD. There is 7.3gb of data, and I am trying to burn to a DL DVD with a capacity of 8.5gb.
The steps I take to do are Share -> Burn. However, when I try this, the bottom of the screen tells me that the disc, with a capacity of 9.3gb, is full. Aside from the weird discrepancy on capacity, this doesn't make any sense, as this is a new, blank DVD fresh out of the packaging/
Strangley, when I go to eject the DVD, it is not on the desktop, and does not appear in Disk Utility, although pressing the eject button does work.
I am using a workaround, having exported the photos to a bun folder and then burning a DVD from there - this is progress and, fingers crossed, seems to be working...
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    MC

    There is 7.3gb of data,
Where are you getting this report?
The iPhoto Window reports the size of the resulting folder if you exported the current version of everything in the Library.
The actual iPhoto Library is much larger. It contains thumbnails, originals, database and cache files.

  • How to make a self-playing DVD from FCP project of 75 minute film.

A Quicktime film has been made in Final Cut. It is about an hour and 15 minutes long. It needs to end up on a self-playing DVD.
Maybe this is a question for the FCP boards (or for DVD SP, which I don't know well): What's the approach to get this project to DVD?---having it look best on the DVD. Are there compression best practices?

Or you may be able to make a Kiosk mode DVD from a QT file / folder using iDVD. (btw ...I've done this successfully thru iDVD6 but I have not yet tried it under iDVD08):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4764361&#4764361
Please note that this approach is the only way I know of to make a DVD (w/in iDVD) that plays by itself and with no menu whatsoever. Hence the DVD will always play in a continuous loop until you press stop or eject on the remote. Or if you prefer you can also use Roxio Toast which has a similar feature.

  • How do you burn a dvd from imovie if computer does not have idvd anymore?

How can I burn a dvd from imovie if this computer does not have idvd? is there anything in mountain lion that will allow this simple task to be completed.'
When i try to finish a project in iphoto it wont even do that...can anyone help?

    Buy iDVD.
Yes, there are other programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/idvd.html
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)

  • How do I burn a DVD from IMovie?

I have created a project in IMovie 08 and would like to save it to a DVD that can, in turn, be played on a computer or TV.  However, there is no obvious way to burn a DVD from IMovie.  How do I do this?

    Hi
You start by saying - I have created a project in IMovie 08 -
But then say that You don't have iDVD ?
If You got iMovie 08 then this was delivered with iDVD - so by finding this on hard disk or DVDs and then install it on the New Mac - DIRECTLY THEN - Update (do not try it first - will mess things up) by using Program-Up-date under Apple menu. to iDVD v. 7.1.2 - and all will be well.
Only brand new Macs delivered with iMovie'11 v. 9.0.4/6 - will be delivered without iDVD.
