Imovie6 HD camera import problems with 1080i

I have a Sony hvr-a1 hd10801 format. Imovie hd 6 will control the camera and see the time codes in forward and reverse but when play or capture is pressed the time code stops and there is no video. I can stop the camera from imovie. the camera is firewire connected. This same setup works with FCP 5 no problem on the same computer (g5 dual cpu 3gig memory

Umm I have the A1U and it connected fine. Did you change any of the connect settings? VCR/HDV/DV to HDV and iLink conversion OFF.
You know iMovie is going to convert that to the Apple Intermediate codec right?

  • Import problems with LR 4.4

I am suddenly having problems importing photos with Lightroom. I get an error message "Some import operations were not performed. The following files were not imported because they could not be read." Doesn't matter what camera I am using. I can open, convert and import the photos with Bridge. I have the Destination dropdown menu set to "All folders."  I am using a Mac.
    Can someone help?

I too am having this issue. I bring them in from the card and all is well under bridge or PS. When they come into LR I get some windows that say (library/import) say that some images can not be displayed. Then I import. It bring all the images in, even the one that it said it can't read. Then in the end it reports back that XXX number of images could not be read.
However, after clicking OK, they are in the library. When it goes to render the preview that were it all goes down in flames. Renders turn out pink, yellow, green bands as if the images are corrupt and in short the whole thing looks like your worst nightmare. In review of the image on the drive all is well.
In desperation I down loaded a trial version, loaded it in and wrote over the LR4.4 file on the drive. Launched LR. It read the  SN# and we were off and running. I have had this issue on two computers.
    Bug?
    Best of luck,
    Jeff

  • Import problems with Canon 1Ds Mk3 raw pictures

Lightroom 2 does not recognize any raw files from my 1Ds Mk3 - says "found no files to import". It does recognize jpg, though. Lightroom acceps raw pictures from my other camera body, the Canon 1 D Mk3.
Any pictures imported from these cameras are upside down in the import preview mode but correct after import. The same goes for my Canon G10 camera as well. This upside down phenomena was not any problem with LR 1 - came with the release of LR2.
    Any suggestions out there?

The problems occur only when importing directly from the cameras
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits
I'm not trying to be a smart a**, but don't do that! When you d/l from a camera, the OS gets involved in ways that it doesn't when it's seeing merely an external drive, as it does when you use a card reader.
If you have to d/l from the camera, put them into a directory, then disconnect, then Import.

  • Fundamental importing problems with Canon PowerShot

when i connect my camera, a Canon PowerShot SD300 [digital elph] to my new MacBook Pro and turn the camera on, it opens iPhoto [6.0.6] and asks if i would like to import photos. i click "import," and tell it not to import duplicates. it tells me the count remaining and says its importing. i can wait any length of time and the number never goes down.
it has sort of successfully imported photos in the past [hence the 'do not import previous' above], but it seems to skip some photos and also downloads the same movies [avi's] each time.
is this bizarre behavior common? thanks for any help!
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   iPhoto 6.0.6 (322)

    Dan,
There is a problem with iPhoto 6 not respecting the "do not import duplicates" when importing directly from cameras. It obeys better when importing from a folder already on your hard drive.
iPhoto can also balk at longer video clips. I can import shorter clips (under 1 minute) directly into iPhoto, but have had iPhoto crash with long (3 minutes or more) clips.
Here's how I import from my Canon. I place the card in a USB card reader. This mounts on the Desktop as an external drive. [Many cameras do this, but most Canon models do not.] When I plug the card reader into my USB hub, I ignore iPhoto's "ready to import" dialog. Instead, I do File > Import to Library. I navigate to my camera card on the desktop, where I can preview the photos and select only the ones I need to import. I import all the pictures first. When they are in my library, I go back and select the video clips, one at a time. It can take a few minutes to import one, and there is no progress indicator, so I have to wait patiently.
If iPhoto crashes on the video clips, I open Image Capture, choose "Download Some" and select one clip at a time to upload to my Desktop. Given enough time, the clips will import successfully. Once on the Desktop, iPhoto has not had any trouble importing them.
If you don't have a card reader, you can use Image Capture to import all the files from your camera. Upload to a folder on your Desktop, then import that folder to iPhoto and delete it when done. In Image Capture's Preferences is the setting for what happens when you connect your camera or card reader. You can leave it set to iPhoto, change it to Image Capture, or set it to Nothing.
If you have had to cancel an import, then there may be an extra folder inside your iPhoto Library folder. In the Finder look just inside Pictures/ iPhoto Library and see if there is a folder called "Import" (or "Importing"). If there is, drag it out to your Desktop and see if it contains photos that you need for your library. Make no other changes inside the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder, as changes made this way can damage your library. If there is no Import folder, then you are in good shape.
    Regards.

  • Any Sony HX9V dig camera compatability problems with imac?

Hi Anyone aware of compatability problems between the new Sony HX9V dig camera and my Mac before I buy
    Cheers Vernon

    I don't see any problems.
    1. Images
When you connect the camera to your Mac you can copy the JPG images from one of the appearing  camera folders to your hard drive.
    2. Movies
There is a (little!) problem with best quality movies US format 1080/60p / EU format 1080/50p. These can't be imported directly. (I'm using FCP X.)
But you can use the free Media Converter (http://media-converter.sourceforge.net)* with the free Re-wrap AVCHD plugin (same website) to convert the available MTS files into QuickTime MOV files (1080/60p) which can be imported into FCP X. (Before I import my movies I trim them using QT X.)
(Note: I assume in iMovie you can only use them as 1080/30p (losing every other frame). I'm not 100% sure - I made a test some months ago.)
*) You can also use ClipWrap ($50) but I can't see a difference.

  • Importing problems with MP4 files.

A friend of mine wanted me to make a DVD  with some media files that they sent me (all with .mp4 extentions). I've just purchased CS6 Premuin Pro so I thought I'd try ENCORE to do it with (previously I've been using DVDStyler). However I had problems with importing the mp4 files they sent. Some of the files import OK, but with others I get this error:
Couldn't import file FILENAME, Quicktime and/or the appropriate codec do not appear to be installed.
Now I did have Quicktime Alternative, along with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed. Did a bit of searching and found advice to remove the K-Lite pack and Quicktime Alternative, and update with Quicktime and another set of Codecs (I've installed the Windows 7 codec pack v4.06, as I'm using Win7). However, I'm still getting the same error message when I try and import some of the files. I don't know their origin or what created them as such. However, I did download a copy of MediaInfo and got the following for each type of file.

Just what is the problem here? Why will the first type of file import OK, but the second not, and what can be done about that (do I need to load an extra codec, and if so what)?  The odd thing is that using a program like DVDStyler, I can load those files and actually build a DVD. And yes, I know that's an entirely different program, but it just seems odd to me that an open-source program seems to do something Encore can't (and I'd much rather use Encore to build DVDs). No doubt this is something obvious but I'm a novice with Encore and Premiere, so I'm missing it anyway.

Codec packs, even the "better" ones, do not typically provide codecs that Premiere and Encore can use.
The "problem" file is a flash format (whether it is an mp4 container or not).
"Consumer" type DVD authoring/burning applications, and even more so, all in one apps like windows movie maker etc, may be more "powerful" when you are trying to take a large range of formats and create a DVD with relatively few options. This is not Encore's strength.
Encore will reject almost anything that has flaws it isn't able to handle, but more importantly (once you get to this step), it will treat as noncompliant (and  re-transcode) anything that is not DVD compliant.
My guess is that you need to get  the flash into something that will work better for transcoding to DVD compliant.
I would first try to bring one of the problem files into Adobe Media Encore, and see if you can export an MPEG2-DVD file.
Not that, while there are some less known DVD resolutions, I assume you are going to end up with 720x576 PAL. I wonder what the quality will look like....
If you are just looking to get the files onto a DVD to play on a DVD player, just stick with DVDStyler.

  • ASCII import problem with symbol 0xFF

When I'm importing ASCII file which contain the special symbols like 0xFF it's recognized as fields separator. The impcat is incorrect structure. I need this symbol because it is cyrillic character which appears in contact names very often. How may I import contacts with correct names.

    Jean,
This appears to be a bug in the way the export program runs on 9.2. It seems to be a problem only in the API call that you showed us: wwv_flow_api.create_report_columns and its p_pk_col_source=> value. This can get corrupted when you have a tabular form column that uses a Primary Key Source Type of Custom PL/SQL Function or Existing Sequence, which is a choice you make in the builder wizards or later on the report column edit page in the Tabular Form Element region.
If you can find all of these situations (using the builder) by looking at the report columns for reports related to the new 1.6 features that you mentioned, then change them all to use an existing trigger instead (create a dummy trigger T_DUMMY first), you might be able to get an uncorrupted export file. The next step, which is an unofficial workaround, is to find those API calls in the export file, looking for     p_pk_col_source_type=> 'T',
p_pk_col_source=> 'T_DUMMY',Then change the 'T' to 'S' and the trigger name to the correct sequence for the column involved and that should do it. If you need to enter a PL/SQL function, change 'T' to 'F' and enter the PL/SQL code in place of the trigger name.
We're still investigating this problem, so please let us know if this helps you out in the short term.

  • Camera Raw problem with new Nidon D90 and CS2

Please forgive me if this is a repeated question . . . but I need some advice . . . I just picked up a new Nikon D90 tonite . . . I'm using Mac 10.4.11 and Photoshop CS2 . . . when I tried to open my raw files in Bridge, I get the message that these files cannot be recogniized . . .After searching Adobe support I just have more of a headache . . .I primarily shoot Raw . . . and have never had a problem with CS2 and Bridge with my Nikon D80 . . . Please give me some advice . . .Thanks so much in advance . . .David

Of course you get an error! The D90 didn't come out until way after Adobe stopped upgrading ACR for Photoshop CS2. You will never have support for your NEF files with Photoshop CS2. If you don't want to use the DNG converter you have several choices. Upgrade to Photoshop CS4 or Lightroom 2.x, purchase Photoshop Elements (latest version, although Camera Raw doesn't have all its features in Photoshop Elements), purchase some other software that will support your NEF files. The only way you can have the support for your NEF files in Photoshop CS2 is to use the DNG converter.
A lot of people complain that it is an "extra step" to use the DNG converter. You have to download the images from your camera anyway. Just use the DNG converter to do that. It will take a little longer than a normal download, but once the download/conversion is completed your workflow is no different than it otherwise would be.
Camera Raw has matured greatly since Photoshop CS2. You purchased an outstanding camera. It's now time to upgrade your software. ACR is little more than a toy in Photoshop CS2.

  • Digital Camera Connection Problems With Leopard

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having a big problem with connecting various digital cameras to my macs. I have 3 different machines (a G5 iMac, 2 MacBook Pros) all running 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 and none of them will recognize my canon Powershot SD800 or my SD1000. I haven't had a chance to test it out with my Digital Rebel yet but I'm suspecting I may run into the same issue.
I've read through all the tech notes in the iLife section and various articles on the web and from what I can tell Apple has a problem with usb device connections in Leopard. I've tried all of the fixes (deleting caches folder, resetting PRAM, updating all applications, etc) and nothing works. The cameras were working fine under 10.4.11. I was really hoping Apple would have fixed this in 10.5.2 but it is still not working. Does anyone have any ideas if Apple is working on this? For photographers like myself this is a major deal. I can get around the issue right now using an external memory card reader, but that's extremely inconvenient at times and I'm just not impressed that something like this has gone months without a fix from Apple.

And I'm not having any problems with Leopard mounting my Canon PowerShot Pro or Rebel though I typically don't connect them, choosing to use a card reader instead. (Saves camera battery.) This is true on the 4 computers I use at home and work as well as my wife's MacBook. Two came with Leopard pre-installed the other 3 I installed Leopard using Archive & install.
We can talk about how you upgraded to Leopard or what you have installed that might be getting in the way, or you can buy an inexpensive card reader and be done with the hassle.

  • HDV import problems with Leopard

I recently 'upgraded' to Leopard, when I try and import HDV (From HV20) to my iMac it has become a green-tinged video. Occasionally it will have flashes of the actual colour, which lead me to believe it may be a problem with the Firewire cable I'm using. So I changed my Firewire and the same thing is happening. It worked perfectly before on Tiger. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything else I can do?
    Thanks

Yes, upgraded to Leopard and found the same problem going from my Sony A1 to 2.4ghz iMac. iMovie digitises a green & purple solarised picture when importing in HDV, but is fine when importing DV. When I try to import in Final Cut it crashes the program outright. It's obviously a bug, I can't understand why Apple aren't on to this it must be driving everyone nuts and costing pro users a lot of money. C'mon guys, you started getting posts in November 2007 about this, you need to get a fix out pronto! This is not what we move to Apple for!!

  • Traport importing problem with repeating return code error 8

    Hi all,
We are facing some transport import problem. When we sent transport initially AAA900244,they faced with return code error 8 and syntax error 109.As the information provided by the client, one of the include  program which is not availble at client system that was included in this transport. So that was the problem.Again we have taken  new  tranport AAA900247 without this include program then same type of error message they faced with return code error 8 and syntax error 109 in the include program when imported.
I have one doubt, when importing new transport this should overwrite the earlier transport data. Why the same type error client is getting. What might be the reason.
Is earlier transport  imported?? Why it throwing same type error. What actually the fuctionality of Return code 8 whether it is imported or discarded.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ramesh,
That include is not at all required at client system. So next time when we have taken transport we have not included this include program. They imported new transport without this include program. But they are facing same error as they faced first time. What could be reason??
