How to fix this error: IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1435 encountered
Hello,
I am new to oracle database. I am trying import a data dump file *.dmp into my test database. I am using Oracle Database 11g. I have created "datatest" to be the user and I granted all possible rights that was there. :) but still getting this error message.
Does Oracle has a GUI tool somewhere I can try or how I can fix this issue? PLEASE HELP.
Below are the actions taken:

=============================================================Thanks for helping with the script. It is very helpful, especially for newbie like me. :) When I run the script, there seems to be a lot of error during this process. Here is the log. Any suggestions how I can fix this?

Imp to Oracle 10.1.0.2.0
OS: SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8
I am doing exp/imp from Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 10.1.0.2.0.
I have exported the dmp file from Oracle 7.3.4 and through FTP I put this file the following directory.
$ORACLE_HOME/bin
Now When I typed imp from command line following message comes up:
dhshrwits:/opt/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/bin # imp
bash: imp: command not found
Any idea why?
Thanks in advance

There was another post on this topic, but the answer was vague.
I have an Oracle 8 database dump file (a DMP). I would like to import (a subset of) this dump file into my Oracle 8i LITE database.
Is this possible? I don't have access right now to an Oracle8(i) server, so I can't use the Oracle 8 Navigator to cut and paste the data that I need from the dump file ...
When I run imp80.exe (which was installed by the Oracle Lite installer) I get the message:
IMP-00003: ORACLE error 942 encountered
OCA-30034: table not found
[POL-5130] table or view not found
IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 2, hex 0x2)
IMP-00023: Import views not installed, please notify your DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully
So is imp80.exe supported by Oracle LITE or not?

nullBefore you can import/export, you need to run the SQL catexp.sql from the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory.

Exp/Imp In Oracle 10g client
Hi All,
I want to take one schema export from Oracle 10g Client. I am in new Oracle 10g.
In oracle 9i, we can using exp/imp command for Export and Import from Client itself.
I heard about in Oracle 10g, we can use Expdb/Impdb in Server only. Is there any possibility to take exp/imp in Client also.
Pls help me...
Cheers,
Moorthy.GSTo add up to expdb from oracle client
NETWORK_LINK
Default: none
Purpose
Enables an export from a (source) database identified by a valid database link. The data from the source database instance is written to a dump file set on the connected database instance.
Syntax and Description
NETWORK_LINK=source_database_link
The NETWORK_LINK parameter initiates an export using a database link. This means that the system to which the expdp client is connected contacts the source database referenced by the source_database_link, retrieves data from it, and writes the data to a dump file set back on the connected system.
The source_database_link provided must be the name of a database link to an available database. If the database on that instance does not already have a database link, you or your DBA must create one. For more information about the CREATE DATABASE LINK statement, see Oracle Database SQL Reference.
If the source database is read-only, then the user on the source database must have a locally managed tablespace assigned as the default temporary tablespace. Otherwise, the job will fail. For further details about this, see the information about creating locally managed temporary tablespaces in the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.
Restrictions
When the NETWORK_LINK parameter is used in conjunction with the TABLES parameter, only whole tables can be exported (not partitions of tables).
The only types of database links supported by Data Pump Export are: public, fixed-user, and connected-user. Current-user database links are not supported.
Example
The following is an example of using the NETWORK_LINK parameter. The source_database_link would be replaced with the name of a valid database link that must already exist.

Thanks,
JiMThese types of errors are expected. The problem is that types and tables are created as the database gets created. As far as I know SYS owned objects are never exported/imported, but other schema objects are exported and imported. These types of errors are generally ok since the object exists in the target database when the database is created with certain objects.
I'm not familar with this error:

I am being told that I can simply use the exp command on Oracle RDB to export a database, and use the imp command to import this database on HP-UX 9i.
Obviosuly this is not the system tables, just the application tables, but I cannot seem to get this confirmed or denied.
Please can someone point me in the right direction here....
I see there is a plugin for OEM now for RDB, so would this enable the port? Oracle Migration Workbench does not support the source as RDB, so I am hoping exp is supported.
Cheers
PeteI was looking for an answer to this question also.
Since this old thread didn't get properly closed off with a "this is how you do it", and since I poked around in VMS and found where you go to enter the command, I thought y'all might like me to post it here! :-)
The export command appears at the RDO prompt. Type RDO at the DCL $ prompt to get into RDO.
Then you can type the EXPORT command at the RDO> prompt as follows:
RDO> EXPORT 'DEPT3:PERS' INTO 'DISK2:PERSONNEL.RBR'
This is the example you are presented with if you type HELP EXPORT at the RDO> prompt. Of course, you would replace DEPT3: with the path to the database root file that you want to export, PERS with the database file name (this example refers to the file PERS.RDB, and the .RDB extension is assumed), DISK2: with the path to the output file, and PERSONNEL.RBR with the filename of the output file.
I haven't executed the command as yet, so I can't promise it will work, but I will do it and re-post here if it didn't work. So assume it does :-)
All the best,

How to use exp,imp in oracle 8i version....
Hi developer ...
I am using oracle 8i version in windows xp platform. Can you please explain how to export and import my tables in to export.txt file.
with
Regards
sure...:)--Hi,
Did you want to downgrade from 8i to 7.0, 7.3 and 8.0 ?
To downgrade, you need to use the export utility from the target database.
So, you will need three export files :
Run the 7.0 export to export from the 8i database, and import into a 7.0 database with the 7.0 import utility.
Same for 7.3 and 8.0 database.

I'm not able figure out why a conversion is taking place even though the same character set is used in 10G.
I would be greatful to you guys if can suggest a way to avoid this conversion as i fear data will be affected kindly need your suggestions for the same and thank you.
Regards
Parikshitbased on your nsl parameter settings, we can see that both databases use the same characterset. so, characterset conversion should not take place. the reason why you are facing these warnings is due to environment variables.
you should set NLS_LANG environment variables both before exporting and importing. Then warnings should disappear. For example, in your case you can set NLS_LANG=.WE8ISO8859P1 (please note that I have omitted language and territory parts here)
Try setting enviroment variables and then perform export and import again. -
