Impact of changing of existing Char. InfoObj. to KF InfoObj.

Hi,
I am having characteristic: ZEXCRATE (Exchange Rate) which has been using in existing ODS's and Infocubes in the system. Now my problem is that - it is identified by client that this InfoObject: ZEXCRATE (Exchange Rate) should be represent as Key Figure in the system to display dicimal values.
Please advice, if i delete existing characteristic ZEXCRATE and change ZEXCRATE (Exchange Rate) as KEy Figure Info Object with the same name, will it impact the ZEXCRATE field in the existing ODSs and Info Cubes during regular data load?
Thanks & Best Regards,
Venkata.

Hi,
Thanks you for yours response.
If i create new Key Figure Info Object and assign with same R/3 field in the transfer rules, will it allow to do like that? Because, this issue is specific to one particular ODS only. So, i don't want to disturb rest of InfoCubes and other ODSs because of this.
Best regards,
Venkat

  • Impact of changing/enhance an existing master data object

    Hi Experts,
I have a new requirement to enhance 0comp_code in order to add 2 extra fields in the master data.
As 0comp_code is an infoobject used in lots of cubes, I would like to know which is the impact of changing it.
Which actions should I take into account before doing any changes.
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi,
If you are adding any new fields to infoobject, you will not have any impact to existing info providers which uses that infoobject.
If the attr u add is a navigational attr and if you want ur info provider to have it, then you will have to enable it and activate the info provider and the update rule as well.
is your data source modified to bring in those new fields? or is it going to be manually maintained?

  • Impact of contract pricing change on existing PO, shipment, & receiving

I would like to know the impact of changing a contract line item price on any existing purchase requisition, PO, shipment, and receiving of the item.  Thanks in advance for your response!

    Dear Lin,
I'm looking for a solution in SAP for the following:
If I make a change in contracts or purchase info records in SAP (for instance in prices) is there any way to update the open Purchase orders in the system with this information?
As this question is relevant to what you asked I thought that you may have a clue about this.
    Thanks for your attention,

  • Impact of agreement change on existing req, PO, shipment, & receiving

I would like to know the impact of changing an agreement line item (e.g. changing price) on any existing purchase requisition, PO, shipment, and receiving of the item.  Thanks in advance for your response!

    Hi ,
You got it right. The changes done in the agreement will not effect the open line items of the PO's that were released earlier.

    Hi Lin,
If there is any transaction with reference to that newly created purchasing documents, then it will affect. Any transaction during the time of change will not affect as long u dont save that agreement. But if u saved the agreement after changes then the change comes in to effect immediately after that.
If you have docs which refer to other agreements for that particular material, then your transactions will not get affected.
hope this clear your doubts. Reward if u find this useful.

  • Impact of changes in CUNI

    Dear All,
I have question about the impact of changing some fields in CUNI (and t006).
MSEHI - Int. meas. unit: As far as I know it can't be changed. If change is needed, new UoM needs to be added, right?
    KZEX3 and KZEX6 - 3 and 6 char.external unit: What are these fields for?
KZKEH: Is that correct that if it is not selected, the UoM is not active?
KZ1EH and KZ2EH  - (1) and (2) unit: What are these fields used for?
KZWOB - Value-based commt: What is it for? Where it is important in the process?
MSEH3 - Commercial: Where it is used? What is the impact of changing it?
MSEH6 - Technical: Where it is used? What is the impact of changing it?
MSEHT - Measuremt unit text: Where it is used? What is the impact of changing it?
MSEHL - Unit text: Where it is used? What is the impact of changing it?
In T006d is it possible to change the Time and Temperature Dependency of a used Dimension? What is the impact of this action?
    Thank you

Reports such as financial statements, tax reports, GL balances may not reflect previous period balances correctly when you give single business area. You need to workaround to get correct balances.
With respect to current balances it will not be a problem, as you might be transferring balances in various accounts of discontinued business areas to presently used business area.

  • Change of existing assets class description

    Hi Friends,
I have a query and the details are given below:
We intend to change the existing assets class description.
    Is it possible!
What is the impact of such changes?
As per my observation / opinion, we cannot change the asset class description after configuring the account determination and the other transactions were carried out.
Is it correct? Can any one advise me pls.

    Hello
Asset classes have some default parameters.
Description can be changed any time.
This data is at header level and does not impact transactions.
You should be able to change it.
See if you can change the description at table level, check Table ANKT or ANKA

  • Oracle Best practices for changing  Byte to Char on Varchar2 columns

    Dear Team,
Application Team wanted to change Byte to Char on Varchar2 columns to accommodate Multi byte character  on couple of production tables.
Wanted to know is it safe to have mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics in the same table i have read on the couple of documents that It's good practice to avoid using a mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics columns in the same table.
What happens if we have mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics columns in the same table?
Do we need to gather stats & rebuild indexes on the table after these column changes .
    Thanks in Advance !!!

No change is needed to 'accommodate Multibyte characters'. That support has NOTHING to do with whether a column is specified using BYTE or CHAR.
In 11g the limit for a VARCHAR2 column is 4000 bytes, period. If you specify CHAR and try to insert 1001 characters that each take 4 bytes you will get an exception since that would require 4004 bytes and the limit is 4000 bytes.
In practice the use of CHAR is mostly a convenience to the developer when defining columns for multibyte characters. For example for a NAME column you might want to make sure Oracle will allocate room for 50 characters REGARDLESS of the actual length in bytes.
If you provide a name of 50 one byte characters then only 50 bytes will be used. Provide a name of 50 four byte characters and 200 bytes will be used.
So if  that NAME column was defined using BYTE how would you know what length to use for the column? Fifty BYTES will seldom be long enough and 200 bytes SEEMS large since the business user wants a limit of FIFTY characters.
That is why such columns would typically use CHAR; so that the length (fifty) defined for the column matches the logical length of the number of characters.
What happens if we have mixture of BYTE and CHAR semantics columns in the same table?
Nothing happens - Oracle could care less.
Do we need to gather stats & rebuild indexes on the table after these column changes .
No - not if you by 'need' you mean simply because you made ONLY that change.
But that begs the question: if the table already exists, has data and has been in use without their being any problems then why bother changing things now?
In other words: if it ain't broke why try to fix it?
So back to your question of 'best practices'
Best practices is to set the length semantics at the database level when the database is first created and to then use that same setting (BYTE or CHAR) when you create new objects or make DDL changes.
Best practices is also to not fix things that aren't broken.
See the 'Length Semantics' section of the globalization support guide for more best practices

  • What impact do changes to the CUCM "Default Credential Policy" have?

    Hi all,
We have been asked to make an update to the 'Default Credential Policy' on CUCM 6.1. The update is easy enough to carry out:  User Management > Credential Policy > Default Credential Policy.
However, Cisco documentation isn't too clear as to what accounts this will impact. As best i can tell any changes made here will impact any 'new' Application or SuperUser (etc) accounts that are created *after* the policy is updated.  Existing application accounts won't get impacted and would require a Bulk Upload to change them. Does that sound correct?
I'm also a little unsure if changes to this policy will impact the 'administrator' account that we created when we installed CUCM, or any of the normal 'phone' user accounts that our many IP phone users have (i presume not, but again Cisco documentation doesn't seem too hot on precisely what gets impacted by changes to this policy).
Screenshot below of the GUI screen i am referring to.
    Thoughts appreciated.
    Many thanks!

Quick bump. We've read a few links that suggest User and Application User passwords etc would be impacted.  However, they don't mention the main Administrator account, nor if we would need to use Bulk Upload to change existing User and Application User settings after chaning the Default Policy settings:

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    hi
this is to inform you that
you are telling about FOREIGN TRADE & CUSTOMS.
it will be having impact on sales delvery and billing as well as sales document is optional and the
delivery document will be stopped with GTS error with LEGAL CONTROL ISSUE.
if you over comes that then you will be caught in billing

  • Can we change the Existing scenarios name in a outline

    Hi All,
I have a requirement like change the Existing scenario name to another name...
Ex: Existing scenario name Scenario -> "Budget"
After changing scenario name Scenario-> Fcst_Buget
    Can we do this???
If yes, what are the things i need to take care because we have data for that scenario...please let me know...
Please update on this ..its urgent

You can absolutely change the member names.
Are you concerned about the impact on data loads, formulas, calcs, etc?
An easy way to have your cake and eat it too is to assign an alias to the member so that Budget now becomes Budget with an alias of Fcst_Budget. Whatever artifacts refer to the old name continue to do so and from a reporting perspective you reference the alias.
Or you can reverse it so that the member name now becomes Fcst_Budget and the alias is Budget.
Your choice, but I think the former is what you want.

  • Impacts of changing service accounts

Hi, I inherited a couple of sharepoint farms and they didn't use the recommended accounts such as sp_install, sp_farm, etc.  I want to create new ones and change the existing.  Is there any impact to this.  I struggle getting permissions
to the SQL databases so I want to be sure I can do this without having to go to the database owner to add/remove accounts.

As commented above it will connect to the next available DC in the same site. Jut change the DNS IPs in exchange server and follow any of these if you want to specify which DC/GC to use, and it will not create issues for you.

  • How to write a pgm to change the existing encrypted password

    Hi all,
can anybody tell me how to write a pgm to change the existing encrypted password.
    thanks in advance.

Well, it's going to depend on how it's implemented in the current system.
But basically it's going to look a lot like the current login actions. Presumably you have something that takes the user ID and password, encrypts the password, looks up the encrypted password in the database matching that user ID, and compares them. This functionality would also take a new password (preferably twice so they can be checked for consistency), and if the existing encrypted passwords match, it will encrypt the new password and put it in the database where the old one was.
And if the application has a mechanism for new users to sign up, it'll look a lot like this as well.
But I'm just guessing. This is all going to depend on how the existing functionality is written. Probably the best thing you can do is talk to a programmer at your organization who has worked on the application, and ask them for help.
    Hope this helps anyway.

  • How to change an Existing  Purchase Requisition Document in MM.

    Hi Folks,
I want to write a program to change a existing  Purchase Requisition in MM.
I found two BAPI's BAPI_PR_CHANGE and BAPI_REQUISITION_CHANGE , which could be used to change PR document in  ECC.
    I have following question:
    1) why we have two seprate BAPI's for changing PR.
    2) Do we need to use both BAPI's to change PR, depending on what value we are trying to change.
    3) Is it optional to use any of these two BAPI's
Or do we have any other way to implement this PR change process.( Bcoz of when i tried to debug standard PR change process, none of these two BAPI's has been called)
Which FM or method is called when, we try to change and save PR document manually.
I would appriciate, if some one has any sample code to implement this PR change process.

BAPI_REQUISITION_CHANGE is the older BAPI, the one based on the older ERP transaction (ME5x family), while BAPI_PR_CHANGE is the newest one, referring to the "recent" Enjoy transaction (ME5xN family).
They both satisfy you task probably, but if you can chose, I'd go for BAPI_PR_CHANGE.

You can use the first or the second one, it's indifferent. The newest one will also trigger user exits from ME5xN family. Which transactions are used by the users on the ERP? Choose with regards to the transactions used during the normal activity.

Normal PR change operativity doesn't use BAPI. BAPIs are used to create/modify docs from "external" systems (it's not properly true, but let assume it), they provide a simple interface to populate with PR data and the process of creation/modification will trigger every check/userexit already defined for the standard transactions on the ERP.
In example, suppose that in ME51N you defined a custom check in a specific userexit which don't allow an user to create a material item which have odd quantity (odd example, I know ). Then using BAPI_PR_CREATE you will not be able to create a PR with items with odd quantity, because the same check will be executed.
