What is the purpose of using characteristics in equipment master?
What impacts does it make if we use it and don't use it?

As said , we can use Chracteristics for further classfication of equipments ..
Ex;- You can use characteristics to maintain specifications of equipments like rating of motor -5W, 10W etc , speed of motors etc , u can use it for many other purposes also
Thus using this characteristic u can search all 5W motors in reports
There is no impact if u dont use ..

I have a requirement to update the equipment classification characteristics while doing goods receipt in MIGO.
we have an exit where the equipment number is available - EXIT_SAPLIE01_005, however i do not see any where the interface to update the classification characteristics.

In my current project, there are some characteristics configured in Equipment related transactions(IE01, IE02,IE03). But now we want to add another characteristic, but I do not know how. Please help. Configuration steps in detail is preferred.

Std Msg Type and Idoc Type to send multiple characteristics for equipment

Hello Experts,
I have the requirement to send all the assigned characteristics linked to an Equipment or linked to a Material, along with the all possible values BUT require only standard Message Type and Idoc Basic Type.
I found Message Type = CHRMAS and Idoc Type = CHRMAS04, BUT it contain information of ONLY one characteristic, not solve my objective (multiple characteristics in one Idoc)
Will you please provide me any standard Message Type and Idoc Basic Type that solve my above requirement?

Assign characteristics to equipment en masse

Could any of you explain how to assign a class+characteristics to many equipment records at once.

Alex,
You will have to do it object by object either manually or programmatically either through the Equipment update transaction or through the assignment of object to class through the classification transaction or FM. There is no alternative to assign class plus characteristic to multiple equipments in one single update.

BAPI create characteristics for equipment

Iam looking for BAPI/FM to create class and characteristics for Equipments,I have kept BDC as a secondory option.
However I have tried BAPI_OBJCL_Create,but the import parameters are very confusing.

Hi mohan,
in this Customizing table you define the description for an equipment category. This allows you to control which basic characteristics a equipment master record such as a vehicle master record should have. Using these control characteristics, you can decide how many and which equipment categories you require.

L00 and L01 in BW Query based Universe for Characteristics

Hi All,
While creating a universe based upon an SAP BW query, the BW characteristics seem to be doubled as dimensions, with one group markeded L00 and the other as L01.
Why are they doubled?
Is one "better" than the other?
For what purpose?
They key value in L00 returns "all" and L01 returms the key, but all attributes seem to be the same.

Hi,
From an OLAP point of view a characteristic is like a dimension, that means that it contains all the members (level L01) and the All member that aggregates the characteristic members (level L00);
These metadata are provied by SAP BW when using OLAP drivers.
For a characteristic, the level L00 is not necessary unless you want to use the All member.
On the other hand, the level L00 is significant for hierarchies, hierarchy varaibles and structures because it contains members.
We provide an option for the universe generation and the universe update that allows to generate or not the level L00.
This option is available since BOE XI3.1 SP2.
In SP3, we improved the L00 generataion to only impacts the characteristics and not hierarchies and structures.
So the recommendation for characteristics is to not use L00.

You need to setup Customer Distribution Model (BD64) and Partner Profiles in DEV (Outbound) and QA (Inbound) systems with ALE Port. Then run the transactions BD91, BD92 and BD93 in DEV. If the partner profile in DEV is setup to transfer immediately, IDOCs will be transferred to QA.

In call center lingo, discounting the network extender impacts that supervisor's equipment discount discounts per unit, a statistic that is hard to recover from because customer service simply doesn't order much equipment. Waiving the Early Termination Fee is just a credit, something customer service does all the time, and it's fairly trivial for a supervisor to ameliorate the "extra" credit against their average credits per call statistic, given that they take thousands of calls a month.
I agree it's completely ludicrous for the supervisor to be incentivised to make a decision that costs VzW a lot more (the ETFs) than a similar decision that costs less ($250 discounted from the network extender). But that's call center politics V_V

However, your explanation makes complete sense. I just truly feel bad leaving Verizon. I can get a house phone, but what is the point then for paying my monthly Verizon bill when I am now only going to be using it for the internet? I can get a different carrier for that or just use my computer.

Recording CL20N through LSMW

Hi All,
I am trying to upload the characteristics for Equipment in PM module through LSMW by using the object 0130 Classification and method 0001 Batch input.
When we are trying to specify file, an error message is being prompted<b> No logical path specified.</b> We could able to proceed further. We could able to specify file for other objects without defining any logical path.
If anyone faced similar issues in LSMW, kindly provide me the solution.

Hi,
You can either use CL20 for loading via LSMW-recording or use following Batch input program:
Object               0130   Classification
Method               0001   Batch input
Program name         RCCLBI02
Program type         B   Batch input
It is not possible to make a recording for enjoy SAP transactions.
In the specify files step; for Converted data node mention logical path as LSMW (general rule) & 'logical file' same as 'file'. You can define the logical file 'LSMW' by Tx. FILE. this step is normally done by basis.

Difference between Dimension Objects L00 and L01

While I was creating a universe data source as SAP BW Cube(OLAP) in the business layer of the universe Designer creates a class containing the characteristic as two dimension objects: Level 00 and Level 01. Ex: Material is Class-->Material Number is Sub Class->L00 material number,L01 Material Number as dimension objects and L00 Material Number Key,L01 Material Number Key as Detail object.
Please tell me What is the difference between L00 and L01 ? I have read the help but I could nt get it.

BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE Lock Error !

Hi Friends,
Iam using BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE to update the characteristics for equipment.
The code is somthing like:
call Function BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE

Read it_return - for any error messages.
     |
     |
Bapi_commit.
The problem here is, when run on Batch Mode sometimes this Bapi gives out the error 'Equipment is locked by user.'
There is no other parallel job running at this time. But also we get this error. Sometimes able to replicate and sometimes not.
I searched in SDN and found few others also faced the same problem with this FM BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE.

0PM_DS02 - Problem with Update Rule

Hi ,
I have installed the Standard ODS 0PM_DS02 from BI content.
Problem is --> In Update Rule all Data Fields have been installed perfectly but all Key Fields with Blank ( No Assignment ) .
I would like to know what is the reason that All the KEY Fields have installed with Blank .
Though I can do the manual assignment for characteristics like Equipment / Functional location but my specific area of Concern is what to assign to time characteristcs 0CALDAY / 0CALMONTH etc.
I would appreciate your help in guiding me what to assign in Key fields of 0PM_DS02 update rule.

Probably you have got it resolved already. The key fields are assigned along with the data fields in the statement RESULT_TABLE[] = G_T_UPDATE_IMAGE.
G_T_UPDATE_IMAGE has the same structure as /BI0/APM_DS0200, which is nothing but the active data table of 0PM_DS02. This structure gets populated in the FM BW_MCI1_KEYFIGURE_ARRAY_GET.

You have done with the chanrterstics for warranty, warranty counters, created warranty master...
Assign characteristics in equipment in class overview, then... maintain measurement point and create measurement document...
In equipment master under warranty tab.. maintain the master warranty counter and the start date..
Once u have done...
If there is warranty in equipment master.. it will show check status colour is green
If the warranty expries with respect to warranty counters... it will show a Yellow colour symbol.
