Impact of Microsoft patches on UCCE

Hi all,
I want to know whether there is any negative impact will occur on UCCE when we try to fetch some Microsoft security patches.
I am using Win 2008 Server R2 windows server and UCCE 8.5.2 version.
quick response will be realy helpful.
Thanks

I will suggest you to check with Cisco on this. Or you can test this on a Test Server or a virtual machine before you deploy to production. Its suggested by MS to test all the patches in you environment on application specific machines / servers before
rolling out in production.

  • Windows patching for UCCE 7.2 and IVR

Just a general question concerning patching windows servers. We are running Windows server 2003 for our UCCE and IVR. Does everyone patch their servers when microsoft releases new patches or how is that done? Fairly new to using UCCE and IVR so I don't want to cause any issues as the system is running pretty smoothly.

How does the Cisco Impact Assessment figure into the process. It was my understanding that Cisco reviewed the Microsoft patches and then only suggested applying the ones listed in the Impact Assessment as "Impacting". Am I correct in that?

We have developed an application that uses Weblogic 6.1 and JCOM. This application developed in VC++ uses JCOM's zero client approach to access EJBs deployed on Weblogic. It was working fine.
But, after installing Microsoft patch 'Windows2000-KB835732-x86-ENU.EXE' on PC, our application is not able to connect to JCOM.
Can anybody throw some light on what could have been impacted beacuse of this Microsoft patch.

We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 . but it's well with MySQL & JBoss

  • SRM catalog navigation fails after Microsoft patch KB2416400

After applying Microsoft patch KB2416400, displaying catalogs is failing in IE7 and IE8. Getting the "Navigation to the webpage was canceled"... If you uninstall the patch, it will fix the issue in IE7. I have already reviewed the settings found in OSSN 1511147, which has not solved the issue when the patch is applied. Has anyone else applied this IE security patch and experienced similar results? We are on SRM7.0, SP05 - EP and catalogs both using https. Thanks.

    Hi Kris,
we found a solution. Please look in SAP Note 1456162.
The note was written for IE 8, but it looks that the MS patch KB2416400 provides the same security measure also for IE 7.
IE7 does not allow the dynamic rendering of html by the outbound handler after the patch.

  • How could I know whether Microsoft patch need reboot or not ?

We use win2003R2 and win2008R2 and so on in the domain environment.
When we apply the Microsoft-provided patch, is there any way to know it need OS reboot in advance ?

    Thank you.
It is not about specific patch.
I would like to know how to identify the microsoft-patches need OS reboot or not , perhaps from information from Microsoft web site.

  • Missing microsoft patches

Looks like since may 8 microsoft patches are not showing correctly in zcc as patched or unpatched, all workstations show zeros for both counts. Other products, adobe, apple etc have released patches since may 8 and patched/unpatched stats are populating in PM. If I look in the debug.log file for a patch released on may 14 (ex KB2829361) the entry is found for MS13-046 KB2829361.pls. The servers are version 11.1a, managed devices range from 10.2.2 up to 11.1a and all have this issue with Microsoft patches. Anyone else seen this behavior ?

Yes, sometimes this happends - looks like it thinks the patch is there
but it's not. Easy workaround though...

  • Microsoft Patches for Call Manager

    HELP !!
Where do I find the "approved" Microsoft patches for CCM4.x please ?
    Regards
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
You will need a valid CCO account (which I guess you've already got). Then just go to the support section on the Cisco website, choose "download software", then just specify your CCM version etc. and you will see all the patches available.
Cisco guarantees that they will release any critical operating system patch within 24 hours of the Microsoft announcement. Noncritical patches are rolled up into a monthly update.

I had this same issue, except I have Symantec mail security not Forefront. It wound up being a line in the adult content filter. For whatever reason, they included "If you received this email" as one of the literal strings. This is probably part
of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

  • September 14 2010 Microsoft patch issue

    Hello all,
I am about at the end of my rope on this one, I have a variety of HP printers at my office and I print to them via their static IP addresses. The patch that Microsoft put down on September 14, 2010 had a adverse affect to the printing to any PC's that were updated. The PC's can ping the address fine with no issues, but when you try to print their is always a error in printing. The PC's that were not updated do not have this problem. All of the PC's in question are running Windows XP, I did have a Vista machine running with it also but I was able to resolve the problem on that machine and the Windows 7 machines do not seem affected with the issue.
I am running out of ideas on how to resolve this issue, I have deleted the ports and drivers and reinstalled them. I have uninstalled the patches and also have done system restores to earlier dates in history. I have shutdown the firewalls on the machines and I have updated all the machines with the latest drivers from HP's website. But still when I try to print a test page nothing happens and it errors out. I took a machine out of storage with a clean install of Windows XP and updated it with all the patches and had no problem with adding the printers on the machine. I really don't want to reinstall all of the XP machines to correct the problem though. I did have on PC that was running with a laserjet 1160 connected via a USB port that had no IP printers setup on the system that I was able to update with the patch and easily install a laserjet M3035xs with no problems.
Also with this new patch the "Network Folders" feature of the Laserjet M3035xs cannot connect to any of the machines that were patched. So this machine that I just bought last week for the accounting office is pretty much worthless till I can find a way to resolve the issue.
Any and all ideas would be welcomed at the moment.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions in this.
    This question was solved.

If you use mcafee total protection service, this may help.  I had this problem involving windows xp, hp printers and mcafee total protection service.  printer showed ready, could be pinged, right drivers, etc.  To resolve, I launched mcafee console, selected view application list from the drop down and for some reason, spooling was being blocked by the firewall.  Once I changed it to "allow" subsequent print jobs printed just fine.  Good luck.

  • SQL2012 SP2 CU1 Availability Group database not synchronizing after applying February Microsoft patches

    Hi,
We are starting our monthly patching and have a situation with SQL2012 SP2 CU1 Availability Groups databases not synchronizing after patching the secondary replica. This seems a little like
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/3033492/en-us which was for CU3 and CU4 builds. The dashboard on the Primary shows the secondary as not synchronizing. The errorlogs on both nodes show the connection
has recovered but the dashboard shows critical errors. This is running on Windows 2012.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Lydia,
I am referring to MS15-009 to MS15-017 that came out on Tuesday. These are the only patches we have applied. On our two node Availability Group setup we had the patches applied to the secondary node and then it was restarted. It came up fine and SQL is running
    as expected.
This is from the primary node errorlog:-
AlwaysOn Availability Groups connection with secondary database terminated for primary database 'XXX_DEVL' on the availability replica with Replica ID: {e6468c4d-9431-4052-88c0-07d3b3eb428c}. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
A connection for availability group 'YYYYY50_AG' from availability replica 'YYYYY50AV' with id  [0E53235A-0FBB-4E18-8C40-A0D72F30C36A] to 'YYYYY50BV' with id [E6468C4D-9431-4052-88C0-07D3B3EB428C] has been successfully established.  This is an
informational message only. No user action is required.
AlwaysOn Availability Groups connection with secondary database established for primary database 'XXX_DEVL' on the availability replica with Replica ID: {e6468c4d-9431-4052-88c0-07d3b3eb428c}. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
    On the secondary node errorlog:-
Skipping the default startup of database 'XXX_DEVL' because the database belongs to an availability group (Group ID:  65541). The database will be started by the availability group. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
The state of the local availability replica in availability group 'YYYYY50_AG' has changed from 'RESOLVING_NORMAL' to 'SECONDARY_NORMAL'. The replica state changed because of either a startup, a failover, a communication issue, or a cluster error. For more
information, see the availability group dashboard, SQL Server error log, Windows Server Failover Cluster management console or Windows Server Failover Cluster log.
AlwaysOn Availability Groups data movement for database 'XXX_DEVL' has been suspended for the following reason: "system" (Source ID 5; Source string: 'SUSPEND_FROM_RESTART'). To resume data movement on the database, you will need to resume the
database manually. For information about how to resume an availability database, see SQL Server Books Online.
Nonqualified transactions are being rolled back in database XXX_DEVL for an AlwaysOn Availability Groups state change. Estimated rollback completion: 100%. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
AlwaysOn Availability Groups connection with primary database terminated for secondary database 'XXX_DEVL' on the availability replica with Replica ID: {0e53235a-0fbb-4e18-8c40-a0d72f30c36a}. This is an informational message only. No user action is required.
Now I see the suspend message. Running the select on sys.dm_exec_requests there are NO DB_STARTUP ones on either node or blocking.
Next action is probably to have the patches removed from the secondary node and see if all is well and then try patch one by one to see which one causes the issue.
    Chris
