Impact of negative stock from FI reporting perspective

Hi Guru's,
I want to analyse the impact of allowing negative stock for materials from financials perspectvie..
How will it impact on my Actual price calculation if any.
Impact from COPA reporting perspect
Any guidance on this shall be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
Stock qty = 10
Price/unit= RM10
Total stock value = RM100
Then, I goods issue 200 unit of stock A
Stock qty = -190
Stock value = -RM1900,
in this case sytem takes the MAP from the material master which is available, as 10 RM,
Then, I goods receipt 200 unit again at diff cost, & the accounting posting is
Dr Stock RM 2050
Cr GR/IR RM 3000
Dr Inv Adjustment RM 950
in the above case u have received the GRN with 15RM,
means the MAP is update with the new price,
and the difference 950 is also adjusted through inventory adjusted posting,

  • Items with  zero stock quantity show negative stock value in Stock reports

When running Stock reports for controlling the stock value towards the GL accounts, some items appear with zero stock quantity, but the report still shows a stock value  (negative value in my case)
How can this happen, and how can I correct this situation ?
System parameters are :   negative stock is not allowed, Items with zero cost price not allowed. On item level average cost price method is used.
    P.K.Johnsen

    Hi Johnsen,
I believe you have checked the" Manage Inventory by warehouse". I have noticed this issue in SAP B1 2005B but this is rectified in 2007B. The system behaves in this way as the system maintains item cost for the item for all warehouses and even if the stock is not present in the warehouse, the system would still show you a value for the same. Hope this helps. please search the forum. You'll find related threads.

  • Want to make stock ZERO from KE5Z report

    Dear Expert,
I have posted this requirement to CO and MM side. Please extend support of  expertise and help me on this issue.
Requirement : Client want to make stock zero  which is appearing in KE5Z transaction. see below "83" qty
The input data while running the above transaction is :
    Controlling Area:
    Company Code:
    Posting period : 10
    Fiscal year : 2009
    Profit center : DE14*
    Account : S240075000
    Plant : DE01
    After entering above data I am getting following result , just pasting as it is ;
Profit center     account        Acc text                    Material         period  year  cumm PCLC curr    qty BUN
    DE14010000     S240075000 productive material   D-12578510  10          2009  0.00               EUR   83  EA
In above , client want to make 83 qty to Zero.
I am not getting how come this posting has been happen.
In a material master the profit center maintained is : DE14010000 , and I check all the inventory posting related to this material in MMBE, but I found that this GL is not being enter in any of the inventory posting , the GL which is getting in inventory posting is : S009430000.
Suppose I will make a stock Zero at inventory level ( MMBE) still it is not making stock zero at KE5Z ( because the GL is different)
Basically I am a MM consultant I need your expertise to solve this issue, how we can make this stock to zero in KE5Z report.
    Thanks & Regards
    Om

KE5Z is a profit center report. So better check for profit center than for GL accounts.
Your problem usually arises when a profit center in material master gets changed while there is stock.
so you received stock to profit center A, then profit center was changed to B, all goods issues will be done from profit center B. You never issue the stock from profit center A, but as well you have an issue with the value in profit center B, because you never received stock into profit center B, you only issued.
Check your material master change history to find when the profit center got changed. Then you may have to change it back to the old profit center, goods issue your stock, then turn it to the new profit center and cancel your goods issue..

  • Negative values to be excluded from a report

    Hi friends,
In a report i have a calculated key figure total quantity. user dont want these negative kg's appearing in the field. total quantity is a key figure
NODIM ( 'Qty- COPA Aquarius' + 'Qty- WBS' + 'Qty - COPA BA' + 'Qty - Old Billing type with BA type' - 'Qty - Use Risk Cancellation' - 'Qty - Usage Billed EPC' )*
user wants the kg's that are negative should not appear in copa.can any suggest what is the appropriate step to resolve this issue.
    thanks,
    ALI

    Hi,
I think you want to exclude the negative values from total, don't you?If you want to add only non-negative values to total then you must create a formula and write (Qty>0)Qty+NOT (Qtt>0)0 using Boolean operators. This formula means: if Qty>0 then Qty, else 0. However, you must do this for each Qty(e.g for COPA Aquarius,WBS,...) and then you can hide the real values of them if this is requiered, too. After that put the formulas you have created into the NODIM.
For more information about Boolean Operators:

  • Differences between reports LL01 and LS24 for negative stock

    Dear friends,
Could you tell me the difference between the reports " Warehouse Activity Monitor" (LL01) and "Stock Per Material" (LS24)..
When the negative stock option is chosen ,LL01 is not displaying certain materials with the negative stock. However these materials with the negative stock are displayed in the report LS24.
    What could be the reasons?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Krishnan.

    Hi
There are a couple of things to tell you here.
Firstly LS24 - This shows one material only and you will see where this material is all over the warehouse.
Secondly there is an alternative if you want to see all materials and that is LX02 and in the st type field put *** and you will see everything in the warehouse and if you sort on the available qty field (descending I think but try both) all of your negatives will come to the top of the screen with the largest negative first.
Thirdly LL01 This will only show negative stocks for the storage types that have been included in the configuration for this. Also the negatives in LL01 will only appear after the amount of time you have set in the congiguration whereas in LS 24 you will see them immediately.
So for instabce if you set st type XXX to show negatives after 24 Hours you will not see them in LL01 for 24 Hours but they will be in LS24 AND LX02 immediately.
This does not mean that LL01 is wrong just that youi need to make some adjustments in the config and be clear as to what you want to see and when.
    I hope that this helps

  • Negative stock value

    Hi All,
I am executing a stock aging report for a particular plant and for that plant I am getting negative stock values i.e. value of KF 0VALSTCKVAL is negative. I checked the values in MB5B and MC.9 for that plant and it is positive there. There are around 42000 materials in that plant so it is impossible to check value for each and every material.
I also checked OMJ1 transaction and found that "negative stock allowed" is ticked for the plant for which I am running the report. Does this impact the value of 0VALSTCKVAL keyfigure?
Kindly help me to get this issue resolved as I am new to inventory management.

    Patel,
Check at MC.A by providing Month range(eg: From Jan 2000 to Apr 2009).
If value matching with MB51, then what is the issue...??
Also Check cureent total & valuate stock and Value for current month for same material.
I think you are displaying values in aging query based on receipts and issues based on posting date...!!
Showing some negative figures, i think.

  • Reg: Negative Stock

    Hii,
How does negative stocks works in SAP, here in Material Master for a selected material in plant 1000 and SL 0001, i have checked on negative stock option in Plant/ Storage 2 view.
while issuing the stock in MIGO, it is not allowing and it is givng an error with deficit qty not allowed.
Can u pls guide me, how does it should make it work.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Muralidharan

    Hi muralidharan ,
A negative stock occurs when you post a goods issue(GI) witha quantity that is larger than the book inventory.Negative stock balances may be required if,for organizational reasons, you enter goods issue before the coreesponding goods receipts, and the material is already physically located in the warehouse.Negative stocks always indicate that physical movments have to be entered in the system at the later stage.
So that you can work with negative stock inSAP system, you have to specifically allow this in customizing for the affected material. In Customizing for inventory mangerment, you will find the settings for negative stock under Goods issue/Transfer postings>Allow Negative stocks..The path for this is
    SPRO>Materials mangement>Inventory management and physical inventory>Goods issue/Transfer postings>Allow negative stocks
Negative stocks are allowed at valuation area level and storage location level. At plant level, you can set the special stocks for which negative stocks is allowed.
For example the special stocks for which negative stock is allowed are
    >Vendor consignment
    >Stock of material provided to vendor
    >Consignment stock at customer
    >Sales order stock
    >Project stock
    >Returnable packaging with customer
    >Returnable transport packaging
If you have negative stock for a material ,this is shown in the material master record on the accounting view, the plant stock view, and the storage location stock view. The negative stock is also displayed in the stock lists.
To determine for which materials you have negative stocks, use the warehouse stock for material report. From SAP Easy acess screen, choose Logistics>Materials management>Inventory management>Environment>Stock>Warehouse stock(MB52)
You can execute the selection, for example, for several materials for a storage location that allows negative stocks. So that only the materials with negative stocks are displayed, choose the Only display negative stocks indicator on the selection screen.
    Hope this will help you

  • Negative Stock for Zero Quantity

    Hello SDN Gurus,
We are facing a problme in Inventory .
We have loaded the data for 2LIS_03_BX and initizalized the Stock and compress the cube with marker update.
Later loaded the data for 2LIS_03_BF and compress the cube with the Marker.
since beginning that is from 01.2006 for ZERO stock we are getting the negative values. As i have serarch for losts of mateirla and found that it cound be incorrect compression hence loaded the data 5 times till now but same issue. Loading has been done by different people still the issue is the same.
Can any one has any idea where is the problem.
    Quick response is much appreciable.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Can u check if your are getting the proper values for the stock from the date of initialization.
If the values are true since from the date of initialization and the prior values to it are negative it means that you have loaded using data sources 2LIS_03_BX amd 2LIS_03_BF.
When ever the data source 2LIS_03_BX is used , it will create the opening balance of stock on initialization day. This data source has to be used when u dont want to load the archived material documents using 2LIS_03_BF.
so, the values prior to initialization day will be negative because the system assumes that as you have done loading with 2LIS_03_BX, u have decided not to load any archived records. So, some incomplete records are loaded. So, all records prior to initialization day will be marked with negative values and negative value of the first record will be the negative of opening balance created on initialization. The negative value for the first record is created just to wliminate the incorrect data that may be shown in the report if at all some documents are archived and not loaded using 2LIS_03_BF.
But from the date of initialization you will start seeing correct values for the stock as opening balance is created on initialization day and follow on material documents are loaded by 2LIS_03_BF.
If you decide to load archived records then use alone 2LIS_03_BF.  This will bring all material movememt records into infocube and the correct stock value will flow.
    Thanks.

  • Negative Stock customising

    Hi Guru's,
we are doing implementation for one our client and client is asking to activate the negative stock functionality in SAP.
can anyone tell me is there any implications in activating the negative stock.
    Regards

    Hi,
Negative stocks can be utilized for a number of different business scenarios, for instance:
    1. If a material shipment is going to a customer, but the production has not yet confirmed (and there is not enough stock on hand to satisfy the requirement), instead of getting the "deficit of stock..." message when doing the issue for the delivery, the system will allow you to issue the material, and your inventory will show a negative quantity until the production confirmation is
    performed.
    2. I had a client who used this functionality to track component usage for their subcontractors.  They would confirm production for an entire month for the FERT materials produced by the subcontractor. Starting the month with zero stock for all components, then at the end of the month the value of the component stock (disregarding the negative sign) would be deducted from the amount they owed for the services performed. In this agreement, the components were "sold" to the subcontractor but no invoicing ever took place for the components.   Just a word of caution ...negative stocks/values for materials can raise many questions for accounting purposes at the end of fiscal periods.
There have been several reasons for using the negative stock functionality subject to the specific business requirements of your industry. Some of the reasons to use this negative stock feature due to the following :
    1) Sales of finished products to customers. We are cement producer and in an effort to avoid any delay in selling our products to our customers, we determined to allow negative stock posting since it is of our cement industry that cement after being packed will be delivered directly to our customers ie. no temporary storage is required.
    2) The alignment of inventory/stock movement with production process where due to some reason, the reception of raw materials and/or consumables was not maintained on time resulting in interruption of process order confirmation
As you know negative stock will have negative value, which will have direct impact to financials.   Say you have a material of Qty 10 Each, total worth $ 10.00 in stock and since you enabled negative stock in system ( valuation area level and plant- storage location level ) if you try to issue stock of say 20 Eaches, system will show stock of negative 10 and value $-10.00.
After that if you try to do goods receipt of say 20 eaches, of total value 20.00 material will have original status as you started. But if the value is different say 25.00, then moving average will be arrived from $15.

  • PRD is not triggering in Negative Stocks allowed scenario

I am trying to do Subcontracting process with Negative Stocks allowed for the final material and raw materials even & all of them are checked for negative stocks allowed. When I am trying to issue, say 10 units of materials to SC Vendor with ZERO stocks in storage, the stock's updating accordingly as 10-, but while doing MIGO for say 5 units, the stock's updating accordingly, but in FI documents so created, the PRD key is missing. I read bout PRD and it states : Price differences can also arise in the case of materials with moving average price if there is not enough stock to cover the invoiced quantity. In the case of goods movements in the negative range, the moving average price is not changed. Instead, any price differences arising are posted to a price difference account. Depending on the settings for the posting rules for transaction/event key PRD, it is possible to work with or without account modification. If you use account modification, the following modifications are available in the standard system. So, what steps are to be taken in order to trigger PRD key in the FI Documents.

Yes its correct.. At the time MIRO, if any price difference occurs, then first system checks stock is available or not.. If stock is there then system will take the amount from stock account, if not, then system take the amount in PRD account...
But here you have activated negative stock. I think because of this your stock account triggered instead of PRD account..
Can you check and analysis the accounting entry, where the price different amount goes ?

    Hi,
There are quite a few standard reports which will give you the stock value report, you can try
MC.1 to MC.9 (gives you various stock value analysis reports), MMBE, MB5W etc.
Alternatively you can extract this data from MARD table.
