Impact on ICM restart

Hi,
We wish to restart the ICM (either soft or hard) and would like to take some tips if there wud be any impact on live communication channels during the ICM restart?

hi,
do you talk about the ICM of ECC?
be careful if you have proxy exchanges between ECC and PI: coz during your stopt/start you could have data which cannot be distributed, and so in error in queue or in MONI (ECC+PI). So check that after the restart, and check also with business document, if you can restart the erroneous messaqge during the day, or at a specific period of the day.
I mainly think to: tx SICF > Service: default_host > sap > xi > engine.
do you use web service "ECC <-> outside"? if yes check with business.

Restarting of SAP PRD server

Dear Team,
We are facing a issue with PRD server.
For last 20 days we restarted the PRD server for 3 times.
1)We restarted the server for TMS issue which is advised by SAP support team in one incident.
2)Another time we restarted the server for the issue in Procedure cache problem in DB which is also advised by SAP support team in another incident.
3)today server is restarted due to VMWare (physical server) problem.
Now i have one doubt how frequently we can restart the server and is there any future issues with this restarting of server.
Please give suggestions on this because this is very critical to us.

There is no impact on server restart if application and db is shutdown gracefully.
Secondly there are no guidelines for how frequently servers can be restarted.
Please investigate further on the ongoing issue to find out RCA of the issue.

How to restart VSS writers without rebooting

Hello fellow teckies.
I'm having this problem when backing up with Symantec Backup Exec 11d where it generates errors about not being able to backup VSS sections on the C drive.
I've already posted with Symantec.

They're saying to re-register and restart the services. My question is, can the services be restarted without rebooting?
Unfortunately rebooting is not an option as this is a critical production server.

What Santhosh mentioned is on the right direction. To restart a VSS writer, you need to restart the services or process that hosts the writer. Generally speaking, we will
take the following steps when encountering VSS writer related issues:
Retry the backup or restore operation that caused the error condition.
If this does not resolve the issue, restart the service or process that hosts the writer, and retry the operation.
If this does not resolve the issue, open Event Viewer as described in the "Open Event Viewer and view events related to VSS" section and look for events related to the
service or process that hosts the writer. If necessary, restart the service or process, and retry the operation.
If this does not resolve the issue, restart the computer, and retry the operation.
If restarting the computer does not resolve the issue, provide the Event Viewer information to the vendor whose application is indicated in the event text.

As for the impact of the restart, it generally will not cause bad effect. However, it depends on the service which is restarted. Generally speaking, a service should handle
all the related task, such as writing all data in memory into disk and committing the transaction, etc, when a properly restart operation is performed. If there are any particular requirement or order to follow to restart a service or application, you should
follow the recommended restart procedure.

Error while signing data-Private key or certificate of signer not available

Hello All,
I am new to PI. I am currently stuck with an issue. The scenario is as explained below.
We need to check for the service availability before processing the data. So, we test for the RFC connection first from the ECC system. During this process, we access the digital certificate stored in the PI system so that it can be validated and allowed to consume this intended service.
Error :
When we trigger the RFC test from the ECC system, we get an error stating ' Error while signing data - Private key or certificate of signer not available '. But when we test the same functionality within PI system(Locally), we does not encounter any such error. The certificate is maintained and it appears fine.
The communication channels are stored with logon credentials.
Can anyone please help me with this error or provide your valuable inputs. Thanks in advance.

When we trigger the RFC test from the ECC system, we get an error stating ' Error while signing data - Private key or certificate of signer not available '.
This should be normal behavior since the certificates are not installed in ECC SSL folders of Strust. Why not just install the certificates in the ECC system, perform an ICM restart and do a retest? After all, the certificates would both be the same in PI and ECC.

Error while creating task: The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again. (SharePoint 2013)

I get the following error while saving a task inside task list:
"The server was unable to save the form at this time. Please try again."
I tried restarting "search service host controller".
The server has 8 GB RAM and according to task manager, 6.67 GB is being used.
I logged into the site with user which is the owner of the site. I tried creating tasks from client as well as the SharePoint server itself. Same error is shown in both the cases.
How do I find information on the exact problem that is causing the error? What are possible solutions?

This error message often shows when there is low memory that can be used, the workaround restart the “SharePoint Search Hosting Controller” service is to release some memory, and make it work. Whether restart the service release memory
in your situation?
Would you please check whether this issue happens all the time in task list, or happens sometimes when the memory is lower to use. If it doesn’t have a large impact, you can restart the server, check the result. have a look at the event
log and ULS log, see whether there is related information.
If it happens all the time, would you please use other browsers, whether the results are same? This may be caused by some add-ons in IE, like Free Download Manager I have seen.

Tried,
Restarted the computer
Restart \ Reset the IP Phone
Disassociate \ associate the device in pg user in call manager
Reconfigured the device profile \ Line configuration

Restarted the cti manager services in call manager.
The issue still exists, any thaughts or resolution steps or advices will be acceptable...

As mentioned, deleted the phone profile / recreated / then added in pguser, but it didn't resolved.
Work arround done- Restarted the ctimanager service (off hours), after that disassociate / associate the phone under pg user in call manager, this resolved the issue.
But restart of ctimanager service for 1 user is not proper solution.....

IGS rfc not working BI 7.0

Hi All,
We have upgraded our BWD system from 3.5 to 7.0, in smicm restart j2ee server option is disabled only Icm restart option is enabled. I have checked the services both the SMTP and HTTP are active and HTTP is activated as External also.
I have checked the Http server ->display data: it's showing that ABAP and J2EE configured true but J2ee server operational = false.
If j2ee server is not working plz suggest me how to start the j2ee server.
If j2ee server is not working does IGS RFC work ? presently we are facing the problem with IGS rfc we have given the paramters according to note 844669 in instance profile still no luck .... please suggest..

We have fixed the IGS problem the RFC IGS pointing is wrong destination.
We have given the program IGS.Pjazzsap6 in the RFC destination.
I do not have any information about Pjazzsap6 exactly what does it mean?
our EP dev server which is connecting to BWD is pointing to Pjazzsap6 in IGS destination . Is Pjazzsap6 is kind of program file ? please suggest...

Soap sender adapter show invalid content type

Hi dear mates,
I have a SOAP-JMS scenario working succesfully on 7.3.1. But in 30 min after ICM restart (usin SMICM) something wrong happend because all Soap sender adapter fails showing that error.

If I restart manually ICM still working fine until next 30 min more or less.

Does anybody know a clue why occurs this strange behavior?

This is exactly the behavior. And yesterday we have to increase the memory because it has 32gb shared in two PI instances, 16gb(DEV) and 16gb(TEST). And the memory was always full.
Recently I found the trouble. Doing SLDCHECK have this trouble also. SLDCHECK error-Check and maintain the SLD content for the current client
So, I re-register once again the system in rz70 and review related Bussiness System. And BS pipeline URL was wrong :S because it hasn't be wrote with path /sap/xi/engine?type=entry.
After restart SLD I do sldcheck and it looks perfect.

when i send idoc from R3 i see this message in PI monitor:

i tried to configure a HTTP port in SM59 and use it in my Communication Channell, but when i test connection i have same error.
I'm using a https address.
have you any suggestion?

Normally, the content-type for an http post is application/x-www-form-urlencoded. But then, you need to know the prolog and epilog in the http body.

https (http with ssl) is configured in mm59 type G (external server). To enable https, you need to select the SSL folder in which you have installed the CA (certificate authority) certs. Make sure that once you have installed the CA certs, you have performend an ICM Restart.

Add a jpg as an attachment, not embedded

It always embeds in the email. How can I send a .jpg as an attachment?

I have tried every tip and trick I can find (dragging and dropping, going into Applications>Utilities>Terminal and typing "defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes", checking [√] Send windows-friendly attachments when clicking the paper clip icon to add an attachment) and this simple fix worked!
I removed my signature completely from the email message by going to Mail > Preferences > Signature and deleting everything I had in there. I don't think it is necessary to remove it via Preferences and a simple "delete" will do but I don't really need my signature on my personal email account anyways and don't mind losing it.
I decided to go back and remove the DisableInline command to test if that would have an impact. I restarted mail and sent a test email to my work computer which is a PC utilizing Outlook. The attachment became embedded once again. I added the DisableInline code back in, sent a test email, and voila! Attachment returned!
So, it seems the cause of this issue is multifaceted like most problems in life. If you have tried all of the options listed and are stll having issues it may just be the automated signature is the culprit. Good luck! I will be reposting this on some other forums I used to get to this point.

Please see SAP Note 510007 - Setting up SSL on Web Application Server ABAP under:
When, as of NetWeaver 710, you save or overwrite an SSL PSE, STRUST signals the PSE change to the icman, whereby the PSEs used for SSL are reloaded at runtime. Existing communication connections are not impaired as a result. However, all SSL session caches are emptied in icman so that all new SSL connections go through a complete SSL Handshake. On servers with a very large number of simultaneous connections, this could lead to an increase in the CPU load and increased response times.
You are able to see respective information's as well at ICM trace.

Photoshop CS 5 - file cannot be displayed properly

Hi,
Does anyone come across such problem in Photoshop CS 5 ??
Files do not display properly on screen , all i see is grey background, but the navigator and layers shown the file is opened.
When clicking the bar where the file name display dock , the file appear but disappear when the click release
The file can be edit as usual but the problem is I can see it and i can not even see a newly opened paper or clipboard
DO ANYONE KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

By "your display profile", c.pfaffenbichler means for you to look at the color profile that is associated with your monitor at the operating system level. The OS doesn't actually do the color management directly, but that's where one sets up the profile association that Photoshop and other color-management tools use.
As an experiment, try associating the system-supplied sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile (AKA "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm"), restart Photoshop, and see if the problem goes away.

Query interval on db

My customer would like to use a SQL DTS to collect information from ICM HDS db and they would
like to know if they use less than 10 minutes of interval and if it could cause any impact
on ICM processes and performance.
The tables queried are t_Route_Call_Detail, t_Dialed_Number, t_Route and t_Service.

first of all, forget the tables starting t_. They are real tables aka leaf nodes and you don't use them, ICM does.
This means you don't use them at all, not within a ten minutes interval, but not at all.
There are views, in this case "Route_Call_Detail", "Dialed_Number", "Route" and "Service". You can use them in whatever interval you pick.

No PXA Storage Space is available

Experts,
During Client Copy in SCCL, the buffer space has been completely used up and PXA Storage Space is not available.
Therefore, all other programs are giving dumps.
I have modified the profile parameter abap/buffersize and increased the size from 150000 to 300000.
But the server needs a reboot in order for the change to take effect.
Question: What will be the impact of the restart on the copy process? Will the copy start from the scratch?

You may want to check SAP notes and parameter documentation to set the abap buffersize parameter correctly based on your system.
Agreeging to Steve's above reply - After taking a restart to have the parameter values in-affect, you can always resume the client copy from the point it had stopped with error.

SP 09 Back Up Restore

Hi Experts,
We have recently upgraded our HANA server to SP 09 revision 94 post which we are facing a very server performance impact and server restarts very often and even small queries gets in to a infinite loop where the memory is not released.We have now in a situation to restore back to the older version where it was working fine (SP 07).Please let us know the if any one are facing the same issue and have restored from SP 09 to lower version and what are the issue that will be there after downgrading the system from higher version.
