Impementation methodology

Dear all,
what are methodologies for sap implementation except ASAP?
what is a solution manager n what roles it plays in implementation?
How do we document ASAP methodolgy n where?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Soultion Manager is a tool, which help you in SAP implementation, it is totaly depends upon you need as you want to use the SAP soultion manager on what extend. You can use the solution manager for documentation , system customization, integration testing, UAT, cutover plan, change managment, service management, IT Financial Management, capacity Management, Service Level Management, Availibility Management, as well Project Management as per your need.
Navigate through the Solution Manager roadmap to follow the methodolog through each successive phase of an implementation project:-
Project preparation
Business Blueprint: Look at the business needs, determine gap and implications, prototype if necessary, agree and sign-off scope.
Realization : System Customization and Testing (Unit, Integration and Regration Testing)
Final preparation
Cut Over, Go Live & Support
The ASAP methodology is base but you can fine tune the same as per your requirements.
regards
Vivek.

I am looking for information about portal development and administration methodology (How to manage the PCD, iViews, Roles, user groups, etc... ?)
Any personal experiance tips and suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Elad,
I think a good start is help.sap.com. Take a look at the following URLs.

If you are more into ABAP you can of course try out the latest WebDynpro for ABAP but this works only for NW 2004s. You'll find a lot of information here on SDN. Look at the current frontpage!

  • Metadata Methodology in SRM 7.0

    Hello,
I'm a new developer to SAP and even newer to SRM. I have a requirement to modify a dynpro to default some values and hide some other fields in the SC line item dynpro specifically /SAPSRM/WDC_DODC_SC_I_LIM.
We've determined that Metadata Methodology best suits our need for this enhancement. I'm not familiar with the technique and would like to know if the SRM guru's out there have any suggestions on where to look. I'm assuming the changes I'll be making are from the SE80 perspective.
Any information provided will be very helpful and result in p-o-i-n-t-s that's not enough perhaps a bottle of Scotch will do.
    Many Thanks!

    Hi,
    - Adding Custom fields in Item is handled by Standard metadata -
1,  Add custom filed to structure INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF_SC and INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF
2,  Metadata can be maintained in views in SM30 for custom fields in Item details, Account Assignment, and Header fields in SC,
PO, INV etc. eg: /SAPSRM/V_MDF_IC for adding custom fields in SC item details.
3,  Field control can be done by adding u2018Dynamic customer control classu2019.
    -Hiding the fields-
    1. Open the relevant Shopping Cart in Portal
    2. Right click on the Field and find out the Technical Details of the Component
    3. Click on Technical Help to see the Technical details of the component and get the field id .We can make use of this field information to make the Meta data changes in the maintenance View.
4, Go to Transaction SM30 and enter View /SAPSRM/V_MDF_IC
5, Fill the Field name  and Business Object BUS2121 (For shopping Cart) ,make the field invisible on the screen.
Now SAVE the entry. (Ensure to keep Field Visible, Enabled & Required properties as unchecked as per your requirment)
    Hope it will be useful

  • Implementing ASAP Methodology using SAP Solution Manager

    Hi All,
Can any one help me with any documentation regarding ASAP methodology implementation using Solution Manager.
The step by step process and transaction codes used for implementing it are there any guides provided by SAP for implementing the ASAP methodology in Solman.
It's an implementation project that we would like to track each phase in Solman.
Kindly help me to get more details.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
There are the 'ASAP Implementaion Roadmaps' wheras the latest available
is the 'ASAP Methodology for Implementation 7.0' Roadmap, and there are
the 'Upgrade Roadmaps' wheras teh lastest one of them is:
    'Upgrade Roadmap (V3.2)'.
If you are on ST-ICO 150 SP24 both of these Roadmaps
should be available in your system.
There are two ways to display the roadmaps in RMMAIN.
One is to choose a project in RMMAIN, then the roadmap assigned to
the project in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN is displayed.
The other one is to display any available roadmap in the system
To display one of the available roadmaps (without a project) choose
the button 'Other Roadmap' in RMMAIN and in the upcomming popup
    hit the button 'No Project'.
After that you should get an addtional button besides the Project
    button called Roadmaps (Other Roadmap).
When you hit now this button you will get a list of all available
    roadmaps.
Some further notes for referencing (although they can be old but still helpful)

  • What statistical methodology is used to create a trendline in numbers

I am doing a paper and have a trendline generated by Numbers on a scatter plot, and would like to avoid confirming my 'm' and 'b' values with a least squares calculation.  Does anybody know what methodology is used in the algorithm that calculates trendlines in numbers so I can report that rather than doing the calculation myself?

    Hi Michael,
It's really surprising what one can learn by reading the documentation supplied by Apple.
A search of the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide using 'least squares' as the search term brings up two hits, both describing the LINEST function.
The same search in the Numbers '09 User Guide returns no results, but a search on 'trendline' returns many, with most occuring on two consecutive pages. Clicking one of these brings up the article Showing Trendlines in Charts, which doesn't directly mention "least squares", but does imply that method in the following note (emphasis added):
To see the R-squared value that was used to calculate a trendline, select the line, and then select Show R^2 Value. You can drag this number to wherever you want it to appear on the sheet.
Both these invaluable user guides are available for download via the Help menu in Numbers '09.

    Barry

  • What exactly are the SAP Testing Methodologies?

    Hi,
I am researching on the various testing methodologies in SAP and came across a couple of discussions such as this link:
    testing methodologies in sap
    It mainly discusses:
AcceleratedSAP (ASAP) methodology, and tools available for AcceleratedSAP such as Project Estimator, ASAP Implementation Roadmap and Project Plan, etc
I do not see those as TESTING more so as approaches for implementation such as SDLC or the Accenture Development Life Cycle.
    1. Am I misunderstanding what they mean in the SAP environment as u201CSAP Testing Methodologiesu201C ?
    2. What does it mean when a job description indicates
"Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies (S/W life cycle)"
ii.  Also, what is "S/W life cycle"
    Thanks

  • Folders affected after KM Content Transport using ICE Methodology

    Hi All,
I am encountering a strange behaviour when I use ICE methodology to Transport KM Content.
When I migrate a particular folder using ICE package, the folder gets transported successfully to the target system, but after the Transport, the other folders in the target system are getting affected.
Can anyone tell me the reason for this starnge behaviour of ICE package.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Adren

    Follow below defined process
    Go to -
    >Content Administration--->KM Content->go to ice(folder)->go to Syndicator->go to Global Offer> Clear (delete) all folder shortcut links>above breadcum you will see Folder command click there-> Select New>Select Link>Browse and select the folder you want to transport->select the folder link and click on Complete Package--> file will be downloaded
This file you can upload in other server through Content Management---->Package Upload---> Browse and select file and upload
I think you must be doing the same process but you might not be clearing old folder links which can cause the problem and replace other folders whose link is there available in Global Offer folder.(This step in process is highlighted with underline)
Just Clear and try once ....

  • Faster Mapping methodology at Runtime

    Hi,
Can anyone please tell me which of the XI mapping methodology is faster at runtime in which scenarios?
I mean e.g. converting SAP data extracted using ABAP proxy to HTML, graphical or XSLT or ABAP mapping is faster?
    thanks for any help
    KP

    Hi KP,
Have alook at the following comments and decide...
1)Using the XSLT mapping with Java enhancement, you can implement mappings quicker and more flexibly.
2)Java mapping programs are not permitted to be stateful. You are therefore not permitted to perform actions such as writing data to a database table during a Java mapping. The Integration Server cannot track such side effects. Therefore, if an attempt is made to resend a message that has not been received by the receiver, the data may inadvertently be written to the database twice in a Java mapping.
Note the following points when using static variables in Java mappings:...
    1. Mappings can be executed in parallel. Therefore, several instances of a mapping may access a static field for read or write purposes at the same time.
    2. If mapping programs are executed more than once, the content of the static field may be lost. The reasons for this are as follows:
    i) The content of a static field is lost if the Java class in question is reloaded. This happens after a cache refresh, for example.
ii) If the mapping runtime consists of a cluster, the mapping classes on each node of the cluster are loaded separately. Each node has its own static fields.
Static fields can be used for constants and as a buffer, taking the above-mentioned points into consideration.

  • GRC AC 10.0 - BRM - Methodology is not working

    Hi Gurus!
I'm having an issue with BRM component.
I've configured all steps necessary for role maintenance, as it's indicated in document "AC 10.0 - Business Role Management".
I'll be creating derived roles, composite roles, simgle roles and profiles. There is a methodology defined, and 5 phases for the creation are set.
When creating a single role, methodology works OK. However, the rest of the roles doesn't have those 6 phases: composite has 4 and derived and profile have 2.
Do you know ahy this happens and how can I solve it? Prints will be given if needed.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Colleen,
I've configured all settings you mentioned, you can see them in the screen shots. Also, i've pressed "Save" button but it did not bring the methodology.

  • Question of SAP Methodology of Implementation esp. System Testing and Test Script

    Dear SAP Member,
As a very new and inexperienced customer to the SAP and the business. My company is preparing for the retail shop establishment which part of the preparation includes SAP implementation.
At first, we strongly believe SAP can fit and serve our business need well. Also, the standard methodology of implementation will be able to deliver the system with expected quality. However, the local implementor disappoint my firm with poor quality delivery and control that result in the perception of uncertainty of the system to be lived.
The methodology proposed by the implementor composed with
    1) Preparation
    2) Blueprint
    3) Realization
    a) Program development and unit test by vendor
    b) Training
    4) Final Preparation
    a) Integration test by Users
    b) Data conversion preparation
    5) Go-Live and Support
My problem comes up with phase 4-5
Problem 1: Unit/functional test performed by implementor . For this activities, how could customer ensure that every single function has been developed or implemented according to the requirement and without error?
Problem 2: Vendor  provides slot for integration test for 7 days. Is it normal practice that test can be done within this short period?
Problem 3: Does SAP methodology has the standard quality control, test enter and exit criteria and issue/incident management?
Problem 4: How should the standard test script look like? What i received from implementor was like functional list rather than script.
Problem 5: what should be step for conversion apart from the data preparation by users? The local implementor does not explain/elaborate the detailed activities.
Last but not least, as the customer do not satisfy with the SAP partner (local implementor quality). What should be the process for feedback as to prevent other new customer to face the same problem?
    SK

    SK,
Thamil has given his view.  Here is another.
how could customer ensure that every single function has been developed or implemented according to the requirement and without error?
If this is an issue to you, you can insist that members of your test team participate in unit testing.  You are, after all, the client, and it is your money being spent.  As long as you can furnish testers, who are competent to evaluate unit testing scenarios, you can have them work with the vendor during unit testing.
Vendor  provides slot for integration test for 7 days. Is it normal practice that test can be done within this short period?
It depends on what is being implemented.  I have seen implementations which contained over a hundred test scenarios and  over 2000 test scripts; each of which must be tested by multiple functional groups.  1 week is not enough to complete Integration testing in this case.
Also remember that it is necessary to allow time to correct 'bugs' found during integration testing, and then to re-test after the bugs are fixed.  Except in the simplest of implementations, 1 week may not be enough to accommodate the bug fixes and retests.
Does SAP methodology has the standard quality control, test enter and exit criteria and issue/incident management?
Which 'SAP methodology' are you talking about?  Bottom line, the client must insist that the vendor incorporate any methodologies that are required for his business.  Don't assume that your vendor will automatically bring these items to the table, YOU may have to bring them to the table.
How should the standard test script look like? What I received from implementer was like functional list rather than script.
?????  It should look like whatever you want it to look like.  Many companies have existing templates.  If your company doesn't have such a template, ask your vendor for one.  Go over it together with him and make appropriate modifications that meet your business requirements.
what should be step for conversion apart from the data preparation by users? The local implementer does not explain/elaborate the detailed activities.
It is impossible to say at the beginning of the project.  Sometime during realization, the client and the vendor will jointly develop a detailed cutover plan.  More importantly, the client will develop a change management plan for the client company, in which all stakeholders in the client company will come to understand how and when ALL of the client's business processes will need to change, and to develop plans for all affected groups.
