Implement BI On Demand

Hi everyone,
I am investigating the issue of integrating BI OD with my existing system.
I need some information such as:
1-  how it work?  Where can I find more information?
2 - how it  manages the data that are uploaded to the cloud? Do I have to make some special procedures in my DataWarehouse?
3- Which is the cost?
Thanks a lot,
Grace.

Hi Grace,
This really depends on what exactly you are trying to do.
In general, you will need to write some program that connects your app to bi.ondemand.com.  Our api documentation can be found here: https://resources.ondemand.com/biod/developer/
You will need to get your data into some format that is supported by bi.ondemand.com (xls, xlsx, csv, xml) and then upload that to an account on bi.ondemand.com using the api.
The cost depends.  There is a personal edition account that is free.  If you want a more advanced account then there is a cost associated with it.  You would need to contact our sales team for more details on pricing.
Cheers
Steve

  • EPM Multi language support for custom list in demand management

    Dear Team,
We have installed EPM 2013 with English as base language and Arabic language pack as secondary language. We have implemented demand management and portfolio management as part of EPM implementation. Currently demand management have some workflow and
custom list supporting these workflow. Just want to check, when user changes language setting from English to Arabic then all the forms ( build using custom lists) supporting English input forms should able to take Arabic text as input to these forms.
Please let us know how we can achieve.
    Please help..:(

  • Should I buy ATI or NVIDIA?

Ok, so I know there's other threads on this, but I would like to know in everyone's opinion which chipset/manufacturer will work best in arch with a new computer that I am about to purchase. I'm mostly focused on finding a video card that will support dual monitors as well as perform well for games (possibly with the least amount of configuration needed).
I tend to prefer NVIDIA over ATI, but I know that NVIDIA only has proprietary drivers and ATI uses both proprietary and open source.
Quick HW specs on what I plan on buying:
    AMD Phenom II X4 965 (3.4ghz)
    GIGABYTE GA-790FXTA-UD5 (PCI-E 2.0 16x w/CrossfireX support, unsure if this supports SLI??)
Dual 22" Flatscreen monitors (probably @ 1920x1200 resolution)
    EVGA or GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTS 250 (1GB, 256-bit, PCI-E 16x 2.0) Any other suggestions?
    8GB DDR3
    Any suggestions will help!

yes that's a great card, i have two of them in mine.
i know this is kind of a PC vs. Mac (whats leenucks) kind of topic, but i don't buy anything but AMD/ATi and i've never had any issues.  every machine i've built for others is the same.  i would agree that Nvidia has a nice proprietary driver vs. ATi, but since when is that important?  why support that?  from sources i've read about the proprietary driver, its pretty all over the place, and applies some rather intrusive things to the xserver; but i'm not an expert.  nvidia will never open source their driver because 95% of it is shared with the windows/mac driver code; very little is platform specific.
the fact of the matter, like it or not, is these sorts of things are indeed political, and you should consider siding with the party that intends to promote a long term relationship with you and the product (gnu/linux) you wish to integrate, instead of whats "easiest" ATM.  money makes decisions.  ATi has demonstrated a long term commitment to us by ensuring that their products will have lasting support, even if not by them directly, by releasing the necessary information and funding the initial efforts to produce a quality integration with our platform.
bottom line: buy ATi.  demonstrate your dedication to open implementations, and your demand for community involvement in proprietary, "component type" hardware products.  this is how we make things better for gnu/linux.  do you intend on buying a new card every 6mos?  each year?  the ATi driver code is on a fast development track; i wouldn't worry too much, unless you turn cards around faster than a year or two.
    my 2c.
Huh, I was thinking the same thing.  ATi has actually invested in Linux by doing this, it's a longer commitment down the road, and will probably provide better benefit in the future.  As for nvidia they do make a great driver but I think they might be less adaptable to new Linux technologies and in fact be able to hold Linux adaptability to creating new ones because they have the market.

  • Integrating a Predictive Dialer with COD

We are in the process of implementing Contact on Demand with CRM OnDemand. We have users that do nothing but make outbound calls and we were going to load campaigns and use leads to make those calls and record dispositions. We would also like to use our predictive dialer system to make the calls and pass connected calls to the reps. We thought we could use a web service to let the dialer know when an agent is marked as available and route the call to the ACD queue for the agent. It would be alot more efficient if I could route the directly to an agent vs. routing through the ACD queue.... I was wondering if anyone had thoughts as to an alternative using these 2 technologies.....

You could set up DID's for the agnets in COD to bypass the ACD. you could set agents to work off hook and auto accept. You could connect to server and agnets work pinned up during your dialer activities so that there is less call setup time.

  • Proportional Factors Detailed or Fixed

I would appreciate any feedback although I may have answered my own question.  I am new to the organization and we just implemented APO for Demand Planning.
We have discoverd negative forecasts at the Product Customer level that are due to Credits which the APODPDANT (12 month history) is taking into account in terms of our proportions.  Our APODPDANT is set to detailed proportions which is causing the problem, but forecasting Net Shipments rather than Orders is also part of the problem.
With only two years history is it logical to set the APODPDANT to Detailed proportions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Kevin,
Please check the aggregation and disaggregation data along with proportional factors. If any thing is mismatched in calculation type(S,P,N,I,D,E,F etc) it will cause the problem.
Also check the time based disaggregation.
Check your forecast profile for correct calculation(Adjust the alpha, gama factor accordingly). You can write the macro for forecast adjustment if you are not able to solve it by functionality. System can write the specified data and can correct the forecast..
Please let me knoe is implementation going on or already implemented. Since problem is critics so I can assume only after getting the system details , Version details and project status(Impl. Support,Upgrade).

    Santosh

  • Centralized ASCP Instance

    Gurus,
    We have a 11.5.10 CU2 (9208-RAC/PCP) instance running SCM_PF.J
Management is planning to implement APS/Demand Planning. I have worked in distributed environments where we have a source ERP instance and a target ASCP instance and do a data pull via DB link and run collection/memory based planner programs.
However, management wants to consider the idea of running both in a single environment/instance since its theoretically possible.
-- Can someone share your views on the gotchas of this setup?
-- I am aware that the planner programs are resource intensive. Is there a benchmark of the hardware capacity needed for this setup?
-- Is Express server extinct now or do we still need it ?
-- What are the extra patches that we need for this implementation.Any general docs/papers concentrating on the architecture ?
-- Any special considerations for RAC ?
    Regards,
    Arun

Since you have PCP, you have everything you need for RAC'd ASCP. Just create a Standard Manager 1 and Standard Manager 2, and use include/exclude to force the ASCP processes onto one node:

Express server has been obsoleted in 11.5.10. Oracle Demand Planning uses the OLAP engine in 9i or higher databases. Oracle will charge you additional licenses fees for database OLAP if you use Oracle Demand Planning, even though you already purchased Oracle Demand Planning licenses. You can however implement Oracle Demantra Demand Planning which does not use the OLAP engine. There was a one for one license swap from Oracle Demand Planning to Oracle Demantra Demand Planning, but I would check with your Account Representative to make sure.

A Centralized ASCP/DP instance is simpler in a non-RAC environment. I have a RAC customer that recently switched from Centralized RAC 11.5.10.2 to decentralized with the planning instance on HP-UX 64-bit and the source instance on 64-bit Linux. This enabled them to move away from PCP since they were on ATG.H RUP 4 and could use Queues in stead of Pipes for transaction manager communication via the Concurrent:TM Transport Type profile option:

  • I think Apple TV is not going to be around long?

While researching for a new tv I came across this.
Since its not apple, can we talk about this here?
    http://www.dlna.org/home
Pretty cool, I mean, one example (besides DVR's) is a cam corder that has this and you can watch it from the cam corder right to the tv, no wires, burning dvd's, look at all the companies involved.

I agree (as well as think this is a great discussion), but if you look at their spec (which is open source) it sort of has some of the apple tv rental themes already if you implement any on-demand feature.
I believe it goes a step further by allowing the connectivity between computer, camera, HD, cam corder, phone all wirelessly - the thing is, will apple make their computers dlna certifiable or will one have to buy a 3rd party HD?
Also, while you can connect via a wire, connecting wirelessly is something entirely different. Moreover, lets say you ripped a DVD to watch on your computer, that you own, or have it in a .AVI, MP4 or WMA format, Apple TV won't support that, whereas with this technology, in theory, your sister in Baha could upload a movie in a small form factor (<600MB) and you could watch it on your TV in realtime or download it.
I also see the TV/NET becoming more of one, not less. For example, when I was working in the music business, I saw it coming before many executives, predicted the demise of walk in video stores 5+ years ago, and the fall of the CD, and now believe that the networks will suffer the same way once we can all pipe 120MB or 1200MB per second in realtime as the entertainment will become the vehicle to shows, comedy, drama and indie sources and TV's will host those feeds via internet.
Right now for example, you can watch MLB at 1.2 MB per second, not to shabby, but not to bad considering you can do this live anywhere. Now imagine once it jumps from 1.2 to 12.0 or 120MB.
One also has to question, after all this time, you would think KEYNOTE Address's would be live and you wouldn't have to wait.
If MLB can do it, why can't Apple.

  • Flex backup interface

hey I have cisco 2960 switch I want to ask about flex backup interface configuration on it my ask is that the STP would remove from whole switch or in the interface only !!

Setup your router interface cards such that the interface w/"physical-layer async" comes before the interface it will be used to back up. It will then get initialized before the "backup interface" command.
Implementing dial-on-demand routing (DDR) backup on a router that uses
Network Address Translation (NAT) involves more configuration than is
neccessary for regular DDR backup. This is because the router must translate packets to and from the "inside" network using different "outside" addresses depending on whether the primary or backup link is active." ... "Make sure that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) can provide you with two different IP addresses or subnets. Use one IP address or subnet for the DSL connection and the other for the backup ISDN connection. IP addresses on the two dialer interfaces need to be explicitly assigned and cannot be negotiated during PPP negotiation. This means that the ip address negotiated command is not permitted under the dialer interfaces.

  • ODCIIndexCreate cannot create table

    Hi everybody,
I'm trying to implement the Power Demand Cartridge Example. So far everything is compiled fine, but if I want to use the index the "Create Index" fails because the "CREATE TABLE" cannot be executed. If I run the "CREATE TABLE" with sqlplus (as the cartridge owner) it works fine, but if I use Create Index (as the cartridge owner) it fails. What permissions are necessary? I granted connect and resource to the user :(
    Thanks!

Don not underestimate the Power Of Oracle Docs ;-)
    It's all described here:

  • What is the best practice for APO - Demand planning implementation

    Hi,
M client wants to implement demand planning.
Cient has come up with one scenario like a New Customer is created in ECC, and if I use BI and then APO flow for Demand planning, user will have to wait for another day. (AS BI is always having one day delay).
For this scenarios user is insisting on ECC and APO-DP interface.
Will anybody suggest what should be the best practice for Demand planning.
ECC -> Standalone BI -> Planning area (Planning is done in APO) -> Stand alone BI
Or ECC -> APO-DP (Planning is done in APO) -> Standalone BI system
I hope I am able to explain my scenario.

  • What are the disadvantages of implementing APO- Demand Planning without improvements or cleaning up the MRP. in other words is DP implementation dependant on MRP process. Gurus please advise

HI All. What are the disadvantages of implementing APO- Demand Planning without improvements or cleaning up the MRP. in other words is DP implementation dependant on MRP process. Gurus please advise

    Hi Amol,
DP is the demand planning machine, here you estimate your forecast (future sales).
The MRP is a supply planning machine, here you use estimate the replenishment.
Both machines in a technical perspective are independent one each other. Now in a business perspective they are not: The problem that you will have if you don´t clean your MRP elements is not a problem in DP itself. I mean, you can have a very success implementation in DP, your forecast accuracy will be very good.. and you will get a very good forecast, but when the MRP run and estimate the replenishment, the effort that you made in DP will not be translated in good results and your planning situation will be still not good.
    Kind Regards,
    Mariano

  • Demand Planning Implementation Questionaire to the Business

    Hi All:
We are about to implement Demand Planning SCM 5.0 for one of our businesses.  As a part of requirements gathering, I am supposed to prepare a questionaire that business would fill in.  Does anyone have any document on this that you would not mind sharing with me?  What sort of questions do I ask?  I am kind of new to DP and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Nar,
Few questions for yor intial start up, you can go ahead with the similar questions how they want it after APO -DP.
    1.     Which vertical of business you are belong to? Specify the same.
    Ex: Manufacturing industry u2013 Pharmaceuticals.
    2.     What are the automated tools currently used for the planning purpose?
    3.     What is an objective of going to SAP APO-DP?
    4.     What are the challenges faced with the current tool?
    5.     How long the business users are using the current tools?
    6.     What are the advantages of the current tools?
    7.     Is there any Manual planning method is used for division of business or any business geographical location?
    8.     What are current data taken in to consideration for the demand planning?
    9.     Which are the departments providing an input for the planning now?
    10.     What are the base characteristics used for the current planning? Ex: Product, Location.
    11.     What is a detailed level of data are stored or reported?
    12.     What are the forecast methods used?
    13.      What are the factors considered in the planning? Ex: Seasonal, Climate, economical ect.,
    14.     How the new product introductions are handled now?
    15.     Does the planning carried out on geographical based or product line or division based?
    16.     What is an aquiracy of statistical forecast?

    18.     What is a frequency of planning? How it is expected to be in future ?
    19.     Does that a calendar weeks or months are followed in the planning or any customized calendars are followed? If customized what is that and Why it is used?
    20.     Is there any regular back up is taken after the planning run? If so how is it carried out?
    21.     Any reporting tool is linked with the Demand Planning?
