  • SAP SD for a Publishing Company...

Hi Experts, Could you please give some inputs on how to implement SAP SD for a Publishing Company who publishes Magazines and books? What standard SD business processes can be configured? Awaiting your response...

    Hi Sudhir
let me explain you how material master data is maintained and used in the Media / Publishing company.
As mentioned in previous post by Laxmi material master data is maintained in following 3 level.
    1. Media Product Family (JP21, JP22 and JP23) : This is the first hierarchy  of material master data, which stores information i.e. Brand, Brand Manager, Marketing Manager etc. Lets take an example of ' Magazine'  which is a Media Productly Family.
    2. Media Product (JP24, JP25, JP26) : This is the second hierarchy in the material master data, which contains information i.e. Media Product Family (i.e. Magazine), Content Category (i.e. Sport magazine or Automobile Magazine), Publication Frequency (i.e. Weekly or Monthly), Media Type (i.e. Online Publication, or Printed etc). The most important things is each media product has a unique relation to its media product family. So most of the data is copied directly from Media product Family.
    3. Media Issue (JP27, JP28, JP29): This is the third hierarchy in the material master data, which contains information most similar information as of normal SAP material. Media issues are only relevant for delivery. Example can be lets take a Media Product as Sport Magazine which is published every calender month so the Jan Issue or Feb issue are nothing but the media issue.
See below diagram to understand the relation between three of them

    Hersh,
Look for some of the Success stories out there. That should help you. Below is one of it.
    http://www.securintegration.com/fileadmin/redakteur/binary/Success_Story_KRKA_SI.pdf
I too work at a Pharma client and having AC in place really helps. CC will help the internal SOX and audit team to verify that there are no SOD's. RE can streamline the role change approval process which will be of a great help when you see it from a auditor prospective. (You will always have the right approvals for the role changes a developer makes) and AE will help you reduce the paper work and the biggest advantage is the right approvals. Before using AE we used to have the paper based access request and we used to get a lot of audit issues because of the people approving roles that doesn't fall under their own space. (which will be taken very seroiously if it is a Pharma company.) FF advanages reamins the same across the industries.
    Hope this helps,

  • Implementing SAP

    Hi all,
Before implementing SAP or for implementing SAP in a company what are the prerequisites we need to develop.
In other words say we are implementing SAP for a project, before that what kind of ground work should be done (prepared) not BASIS activities but in general.
Do we require to create or develop any general structures or programs which are required or used all over the SAP Implementation for that project ?
    Please reply

    Dear Nagaraju,
Best Practices Guide for Hitech Industry:
    http://help.sap.com/content/bestpractices/industry/bestp_industry_ht.htm
    Modules Involved:
Depends on the client and their business process.
    Information about SAP Implementation:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_Implementation
    Blue Print:
Business blue print is a WORD doccument,In that we clearly mention our company code, sales organzation... All enterprise structure and all the order types we are using, delivery types,Partner functions..... Like that all the topics covered for the particular company,IT IS NOT MANDATORY that all the topics in SAP SD are mentioned,It depends on the client requirement,we map their business process and we cover all the things in final blueprint.
Business Blue Print is the present Bussiness functional & technical scenario and how you are going to map it in SAP with enhancements .You can use ASAP methodology for making this document.

  • What are the dependencies to implement SAP PM module form Financials?

    Hi Experts,
Requirement is that the client does not have SAP and now asking for only SAP PM module to be implemented. Can you please suggest me what are all the dependencies we need to consider from FICO and MM  point of view?
    Thank you very much
    Ganesh.

If a company has implemented SAP without the HR module & now they want to implement SAP HR, will they have to buy a license for that? - Yes they will have to get licences for this.
If yes, what will they have to pay? - They will have to contact SAP for this and negotiate with them.
The number of employees working are 500. - The company will have to decide how many ESS licences they want to get and how many MSS licences they want to get. Again for all these ESS/MSS licences they wil have to pay separately apart from the HR licences.

  • List of companies Implemented SAP

    Hi
I am looking for the list of companies implemented SAP or ERP in the UK or Europe, or USA. Can anybody help please?
I need this list for my project. I am using questionnaire and interview to validate my research. But I found it hard to find the list of companies . And it is harder to arrange for interview.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Just some words of advice.  I have helped many students and staff with research in regards to enterprise systems and SAP.  You need to be careful using a survey.
You need to ask yourself the following questions:
    1.  How do I get a list of companies?
    2.  Do I care what the companies have implemented or how long have they been using SAP solutions.
    3.  Does it matter what culture they operate in?
    4.  Do they use a global template?
    5. Does size matter?
    6.  Does industry matter?
    7.  Who is best to answer the questions?
    8.  How can you ensure that they get the survey?
    9.  Do they have to speak to others to get the answers?
All these factors have an impact on the success of the survey.  I usually suggest to researchers is to not use a survey or use the survey as guide for asking questions in an interview/case study.  If you can attend an industry event and ask the questions of the attendees at the event then you usually get more responses and richer responses.  At the sam time you may develop a relationship with some companies which you can conduct future resaerch with.
    Good luck

  • Installing/Implementing SAP on existing database?

    Hello,
I have been approached by a Consulting firm asking me this question:
This organization already has a SQL server database and now they want to implement SAP system.
Now, can they use their existing SQL Server database and we just install SAP System and that will automatically get linked to their existing SQL server OR they need to install a new set of SQL server along with their new SAP?
What will happen to their old SQL server data where they are currently storing their data? How will that get migrated to the new SAP/SQL Server?
Do they have to get a new SQL server license from SAP?
    Thanks a lot.
    WR

    Hi,
Yes you can install SAP into the same server IF the SQL version is enough. That is called MCOD, I have done that in Oracle and MAXDB.
In the other side, migrating data from a legacy system is another story, and most times it is better to do the SAP Implementation and begin with initial values (accounting, etc) but it deppends on the complexity of the processes of the company.
They could also keep their data for consulting porpouses and do some ABAP developments to read data from that old database.
    Good luck

  • Implementation sap

    Hi All
what are the step should be taken for implementation of sap in a company

    Hi Pradeep,
Implementing SAP in your company depends on the scenarios like whether your company deals in IT, Pharma, Oil etc.
SAP provides separate soloutions according to the requirements and according to the specifications you mentioned.
SAP also provides Best Practices for various Industry Solutions in horizontals as well as verticals.
So first of all you have to determine and make sure in which domain/field your company deals with and accordingly you can decide the SAP solutions for that.
For more details about the various industry solutions you can check with SDN forum SAP Solutions and Industry Solutions.
    Thanks.
