Implement workschedule in ESS

Hello,
We are converting ITS ESS services to Webdynpro....and I don't find a service for the employee's work schedule service in the new Business Package ....when I read the note : 870126 it says it can be implemented in some way....any body has any good ideas on this../
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with the Work Schedule service for ESS, but if it ran as an IAC on the external ITS it should also run as an IAC on the integrated ITS.
You will need to run it via an IAC iView in the portal and if it really is an IAC you can get it to adopt your portal theme. Do a search on "ITS Theme Generator".
But, if it was running as Webgui on the old ITS it will probably still look the same on the ITS in ECC and hence the portal. Anything that runs as Webgui in the portal ignores the portal theme completely.

Hi
Pls check sap note 872892. It contains the NWDI cookbook for customising ESS/MSS iveiws in NWDS.
Also check This Link thread.

• ESS/MSS applications from ECC 6.0 on a SL as ECC 5.0 + EP7.0

Hi all,
We have a "strange" situation on the client and I need you help or guidance.
We are implementing Portal and ESS/MSS on a system landscape as ECC 5.0 for the back-end system and EP 7.0 as front-end.
My problem is if the ESS/MSS iViews which have the data source as ECC 6.0 or higher are available and if yes how their behavior will be on such environment? We should expect errors or bugs or lousing functionalities or restrictions on it?
Perhaps the first point will be if we can implement them? The client wants specific applications like time accounts or appraisals. I should mention to you the client has decided to make an upgrade of the back-end system to ECC 6.0 but is not decided yet when. In the meantime we already start the project for ESS/MSS base on the current system landscape.
What do you think?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eugen

I got my answer. You may implement XSS applications as for ECC 5 even on EP 7 but you'll face limitations in functionalities and face lots of tech issues and abnormal behavior from xss applications. Not the ideal system landscape.

help me please, I am new in this forum
Thank

Cagalera,
This issue is not related to portal. I guess it is related to Infotype 2001 in some way. Check with your HR consultant.
Your issue could be addressed in a better way in either of these forums.

• Travel for ESS with WD ABAP

Good morning.
I am implementing Travel for ESS. We implement the business function FIN_TRAVEL_1 for work with Webdynpro ABAP.
We are implementing ESS for a country not deliverd by SAP.
We copy the folder of ESS/MSS, for modify the role of Employee Self-Service and add more iview/page/ to this role customer.
I have two doubts:
1) Have that change the PCD in the SPRO for each resource?
2.) I am in process of designing the ESS Homepage framework for Travel and Expenses. We are onto ECC6.0 with Enh Pack4.
In SPRO, we have got new resource links which are for Webdynpro ABAP.
For Example for resource EMPLOYEE_TRAVEL_ALLMYTRIPS_SRV_12,the properties are
Description : Travel & Expense: All My Trips and Expenses
Object name : FITV_POWL_TRIPS
URL Parameter : SAP_FITV_EXIT_OP=CallAreaPage
All other properties are empty like URL of Resource Object and URL of PCD Page.
The Question is:
Not is necessary use this properties URL of Resource Object and URL of PCD Page.??
Service========================================== Resource===================================
EMPLOYEE_TRAVEL_ALLMYTRIPS_12================     EMPLOYEE_TRAVEL_ALLMYTRIPS_SRV_12

• ESS Loans validation

We are implementing loans in ESS for India country grouping.
There are mandatory validation in the UI (request loan amount, number of installment, repayment start date) to be entered by user.
We don't want these fields to be entered by user, since we want to define/enter in Infotype 0045 by paroll administrator as per policy guidelines.
But, in ESS these are mandatory fields & should be entered by user. I have checked the WD personlization option & it is no use.
Can anybody tell me how to fix this issue ?
Is there any RFC or table to configure ? Please share your inputs.

• Travel Management - ESS/R3

Hi Experts,
We need to implement Travel Management for one of our clients.
I checked in R/3 its integrated with FI/AC....
I wanted to know whether travel management can be implemented in R/3.i.e without ESS...
What are its advantages/disadvantages?
Regards,
Vidya

Yes, Travel Mgmt is a seperate component and do not have any dependencies with ESS/MSS. You can implement it without ESS/MSS and EP.
If your client is on ECC 6.0, EHP 2 and above, it is possible to use web applications (WebDynpro ABAP) for the below scenarios.
- Employees can raise travel request, submit expense report to their reporting mgr. These requests can go thru the approval process. In this case, it is required that employees should have login credentials. License required.
- Travel administrators can raise request and expense report on behalf of employees using Web Applications.
- It is possible to access these web applications using URL on Browser. Or by using NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC).
- In later stage, when the client goes for ESS/MSS, its very easy to integrate with it and there is no further impl. cost for travel during that time.

• E-Recruitment, ESS/MSS, E-Learning

Dear Friends,
We are implementing E-Recruitment, ESS/MSS, and E-Learning for our client. We are having PA, OM, Time and payroll already in place. We configured EP 6.0 with ESS/MSS deployed in the portal.
Now we are looking for E-Rec. **Do we need to deploy E-Rec and E-Learning in the same portal where ESS/MSS is there or else E-Rec in different.**
Do these 2 sub modules come as seperate business packages or else a part of ESS/MSS. If it needs to be deployed in different portal then how the integration will happen with MSS?
What are the components we need to deploy for E-Recruitment? Does it come as seperate tab like ESS/MSS or else a link within ESS/MSS?
Kindly guide us.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sananthanan

Hi,
I am assuming from the info that is given by you that you are not going ahead with Ehp4 versions of LSO & eReccruiting. In such a case, you have the following options.
eRecruiting : Can be in the same instance as the core SAP HR or in a different system. Also, portal is not a MUST for versions Ehp4 and below.WAS is enough. The choice of UI can be either BSP or WDA.Full UI version of WDA is with Ehp4 only.
In the same server scenario, the portal system is connected with the SAP HR system.
In a different server scenario, core HR is linked to eREC using ALE & eRec in turn is linked to the portal system. (useful only for MSS role with eREc as you are not using the other roles for eRec availble in Ehp4)
LSO : Here too, the learning portal can be in the same portal as your ESS and MSS and connected to the core HR.The implementation options too can vary for the LSO:
Option 1 : LSOFE,LSO CP and LSO TM in the same server
Option2 : LSOFE and LSOCP in a different server from LSO TM
Option3 : All 3 in different servers.
You can use the content administration of your ESS/MSS portal for your Content management
