Implementation of Web Enabled RF Transactions (Web SAPConsole)

We are in the process of the SAP ERP implementation supporting RF transactions for Warehouse processes.
SAP's Mobile Data Entry supports both GUI (with graphical user interface) and character-based handheld devices.
Our client is interested in pursuing the GUI based handheld devices and is looking for recommendations, references and implementation experience with particular details on-
1. Guidelines for choosing the RF Handheld device, and hardware partners.
2. Any testimonials involving implementation of Web enables RF Transactions (using Web SAPConsole)
3. The implementation efforts needed (development as well as configuration) and challenges faced for using Web SAPConsole.
4. Detail configuration steps for implementing Web SAPConsole
Thanks

1). Intermec is a successful vendor for RF bar code scanners/barcode label printers
http://www.intermec.com/products/index.aspx
You can also see Teklogix, Telxon, Symbol and LXE devices online
You can also refer to successful barcode printer vedors for Zebra
http://www.zebraprinters.com/
these have almost been a monopoly in successful SAP implementations
There are known problems with other barcode scanners integrated to SAP Webconsoloe
2). Web SAP console implementation references
http://www.erpgenie.com/sapgenie/docs/RFSAPConsoleTips.doc
http://searchsap.techtarget.com/searchSAP/downloads/whitepaper-may06.pdf
3). Effort needed depends on how much customization you are looking for. Its better to use standard SAP transactions rather than going for any custom transactions. Most well know problems in Web console are in the area of mapping function key between RF guns and SAP. You can refer to following thread in this regard.
Re: SAPwebconsole functions keys... urgent!!! .. thanks for tips
4). Configuration steps involved in implementing SAP Web Console
Functional: SPRO->LE/Mobil Data Entry
- Maintain Verification profiles for goods movements for which data to be scanned through RF transactions
- Maintain Barcode Specification and assign barcode types to warehouse
- Define Menus and Screens
- RF queue management for different tasks in warehouse and assign users to queues
Technical: Installation of SAP Web Console Servers and mapping them to devices and SAP. Your BASIS team is responsible for this. They will get the installation/user/RF Mobile Enabling guides with the software.

  • Window size of web-enabled SAP transaction in an iView

I have a problem which maybe a bug concerning a web-enabled SAP transaction within a Portal iView.  If the transaction is an ABAP report or a Dynpro program that requires a wide display area, the display is cut-off which requires to user to use the scroll bars.  However, if manually entering the SAP transaction within the tCode input-field of the web-enabled transaction inside the iView, the window length changes and thereby the scroll bar disappears.
I would like to know how to set the inital width of the web-enabled iView so that there are no scroll bars when the iView opens an SAP transaction which requires a wide display area.  I've tried both the Wizards for creating iViews for R/3 and SAP transactions without success.

    Hi,
You have to set the iview property to FULL-PAGE and height to be some 8000 in the portal then the problem solves.

  • Implement the web-service API on an external service desk

    Hi,
I want to implement the web-service API on an external service desk
    system.
I am working with the IMG and got to the point where I define a logical
port. At this point I need the web-service to be implemented on the
    external system.
I have web-service API documentation and also read note 962383 - but I
did not find any specific instructions how to implement the web-service.
Can you assist me with documentation for the web-service implementation
    on external system procedure?
or if someone can share a step-by-step - it would be great.
    Thanks,
    Shelly

    Hello Shelly,
Please use the following link to Read a blog Service Desk Implementation Guide Part II

    This blog describes the following.
    1) Integrate New data in the Service Transaction
    2) Implement new action: send mail to creator on message modification.
    3) Configure an interface to an external service Desk
4)Implement a new action that send the message to the external system and change automatically the status.

  • Web SAPconsole doesn't work from remote host

    Hi,
we have a SAPconsole server (Win XP EN, SP2, last windows update). win a full SAPgui 6.40 comp 5 with SP23.
SAPconsole with a telnet server works fine in local and in remote hosts.
Web SAPconsole works fine in local but when I try from a remote host such a PC with IE6 with right url we stay in wait status forever... no error message ora other warning.
Have you have any idea ?

    Hello Ganimede Dignan,
although I do not know if XP (which version?) is officially supported it should work, please remember that XP probably has a (crippled: max 10 connections) IIS5 on it and win2003 comes with a IIS6. Since you stated that it works locally it must be something with you IIS, network or firewall security settings.
Please upgrade your web/sapconsole to the latest patch for 640 since there are known concurrency issues for the patches < 25.

    I have office 365 E3 a/c.
For a site we have to create few apps whoose required functionality is like
    1. Newsfeed Webpart
    2. Blog webpart (source is library)
    3. CQWP
    4. Carousel web part
    5. Calendar control
Please tell all steps required to create apps for above mentioned functionality.
What will be steps and plan for this?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to create apps to implement various web parts functionality.
You can use CQWP in the SharePoint Online. You can refer to:
When to use the Content Query Web Part or the Content Search Web Part in SharePoint - SharePoint Online for enterprises
In addition, there are some great articles about other web part for your reference:

  • Web SAPConsole - Enter does not work?

    Hi everybody,
    hope one can help !
We installed the Web SAPConsole on a Windows Mobile 2005 device. Basicly everything works fine, but when you press <ENTER> in an input field it just goes "beep" and no submit is done.
The application itself works fine if you test it in e.g. the basic Windows XP Internet explorer. If you press ENTER the PAI module is called correctly.
We are using the "webdisplayer.dll" since this is the only one which is compatible with Mobile 2005.
Does anyone know any configuration setting that could fix this?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    How did you resolved that?
    We have same problem here.
    Thanks.

  • Implementing Multiple Web Service operations

Currently using JCAPS 5.1.3.2. Supposedly there is a way to implement a web service with multiple operations without using bpel. I haven't been able to figure out how to do this except by creating multiple WSDLs, each having one operation which invokes one jcd. Is there a way to do this with one WSDL?
    Thanks.
    Sharon

    Sharon,
when you import a WSDL, you have to export the XSD nodes to an OTD in order to use them in a WebService Collabale JCD. With this JCD you create your own operation.
Normally you have a Request and Reply element in your WSDL.
I think you can define more of these "operations" in your WSDL which you can export to XSD nodes and then use in separate JCDs (= operation).
You can handle only 1 operation per WebService collable JCD.
    Hope this helps some.

    Madere

    Hi All,

I had a look at all kind of CMS but I am not able to find anything that fulfill this specific requirements on diagrams, etc...
Hope I have explained my requirements clearly,

Many thanks in advance for any adviceEh? You haven't found something that does exactly what you want, and that's a problem, even though you're fully prepared to write something yourself anyway? CMS is what you're after, or at least some sort of content repository, and embedding links in a page, that's childs play. Or maybe you just want a decent wiki.

  • Implementing differents web services in the same composite

    hi everybody,
what are the bests practises to implement differents web services in the same composite:
    - creating one WSDL with differents portTypes and expose one web service for each portype
    - creating differents WSDL for each web services
    Thanks,

    Hi
I would prefer different WebServices for each set of Operations. Please note that you can have multiple operations with different input and output xsd parametes. So its like One WebService -> One Port -> Multiple Operations. Only draw back is, you have to deploy all these webservices as multiple WAR files. Or one big EAR that has all these WAR Files.
I tried once One WebService -> 2 Ports -> Each Port with its own set of operations. I ran into problem when I tried to generate client for this webservice. The JAXB generated classes was odd and this did not work.
There may be some other option also. Hopefully someone can share their thoughts.
    Thanks

  • Implementation of  Web Services

    hi there,
could u tell me how to implement a web service in Adobe.
i want to return a value from the Web Service back to the Adobe Dynamic PDF via an ASP.Net Page.
Thank you for your time & awaiting a reply!!

ok ... just answering my own question ;)
    that's what I found on sun's website:
the Java Web Services Developer Pack will no longer be developed as a discrete release vehicle for the Web services and XML technologies that the Java WSDP shares with Project GlassFish.
The current release of Java Web Services Developer Pack, Version 2.0, contains the new JAX-WS 2.0 EA, JAXB 2.0 EA, and SAAJ 1.3 EA implementations, the "integrated stack" for Web services. These components are now available as FCS-quality releases in Project GlassFish.
as far as I know ... correct me if I'm wrong ... Sun App Server 9 is based on Proj Glassfish.

  • Web SAPConsole

We are in the process of upgrading from character based to Web SAPConsole.  The one issue I am concerned about is bandwidth requirements for browser based RF.
What is a best practice to guide me in allocating and measure how much bandwidth we will need?
    Many thanks.

    Hello MD,
I think RF Device vendor or network professional are the best sources to answer your query.
    Hope this helps.

  • Implement asynchronous web calls

how java going to implement asynchronous web calls in a java based web service

Are all of the result handlers getting called?
Declare fault handlers as well, perhaps that will give you
    more information.
I call multiple operations against the same WebService
instance and the same Web Service (implemented in VB.net)with no
    chaining, and have no problems
