Implementation requirement of MRP

Dear experts;
required your feedback for the following;
one of my potential customer has the following scenario:
1) They are a process manufacturing industry.
2) They bought some ERP modules of Oracle e-business (release 11i) suite some years back
3) They have Oracle Financials, Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM), Oracle Process manufacturing (OPM), OPM Inventory modules. They do NOT have Discrete Manufacturing and Discrete Inventory modules
4) They have implemented the above modules to a fair extent except MRP.
5) They have NOT implemented Material Requirements Planning (MRP) but wish to do so under 11i.
6) As a first step, I have to tell them as to what modules/sub-modules they must have to implement MRP.
7) They say that they do NOT have Master Demand Schedule (MDS) and Master Production Schedule (MPS) modules.
Based on the above information, kindly tell me the following:
a) Where does MRP stand in the product structure of ERP (11i), and its relation with other modules/sub-modules. A tree structure/diagram will really help.
b) Do they need to buy any other Oracle product module to implement MRP that would work with 11i release set of modules which they already have.
waiting for your response;

I would strongly advise against using MRP for a new planning implementation.
You should use ASCP. That is the direction Oracle is going. They have not offered any enhancements to MRP for a long time.
ASCP has a lot more functionality. The UI is much much better. It offers viewing of multi-level pegging, it can show you onhand quantity, it has a better horizontal plan and vertical plan display.
It comes with a very flexible User Query functionality. It comes with a seeded Planning Detail report that can be viewed in Excel.
I can go on and on....
Bottomline is, at such a late lifecycle stage for MRP, it does not make sense to start using it now.
When you get license for ASCP, it includes MDS/MPS. But such licensing questions are best answered by your Oracle salesperson.
Hope this helps,
Sandeep Gandhi

  • Credit Hold and the Passing of Requirements through MRP

We are implementing a new process by which instead of putting a sales order directly on a plant which will do the assembly (and where the production order is created), we putting a process in place where we place a sales order on Plant XXXX, but after MRP runs, the requirements will be passed on to Plant YYYY, where a Production Order will be created.
The issue we have run into is that even though the sales order may fail the credit checks, once MRP is executed the requirements to go create the production order are passed on to Plant YYYY.  We do not want this to happen.  Our goal is to put something in place which will prevent the passing of requirements once MRP is executed UNTIL the sales order has been released from credit hold.
One thing we were thinking of doing was putting a user-exit in place to change the schedule line category from CP to CN to prevent the requirements from being passed on (when the order was on credit hold) and then changing the schedule line category to CP (once it was released from credit hold).  However, this seems very messy to accomplish.  I would think there would be a better way of getting this done, as opposed to changing the schedule line categories on the order.
I have read several threads that discuss using a VOFM routine to satisfy my requirement, but am unclear as to where this would be implemented and how would it prevent the requirements from being passed when MRP is executed.  If anyone can shed some light on this for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Tom,
you can review the note 744305, which contains some hints how to prevent MRP requirements for the credit blocked sales orders.
    Hope, It helps you.

  • Is it possible that we generate material requirement in MRP at company code level?

We want to generate material requirement in MRP at company code level, what is the possibility or any work around.
    Thanx in Advance.

    Hi Mirza
This is not possible on the standard system. The highest planning level on MRP is the plant.
It has been discussed on the following thread, where BAdI MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA was proposed as a solution, however, the logic to be implemented on this BAdI is very complex:
MRP Run considering Stocks for Multiple Plants and Requirement maintained for Plant Cluster
If you want to know more about the BAdIs available on MRP check the following document:
    BAdIs for MRP
Another alternative is to use flexible planning to plant at company code level, then disaggregate the planning to the plants and transfer the result to demand management and MRP.

  • Open Purchase Orders not considered as requirement for MRP Run

    Hi ,
We are facing a issue of Open Purchase orders not appeared in Stock requirements list and also it is not considered as requirement for MRP Run against reservation.
As aresult for a reservation demand of 10 units we are ending with Open POs 10 units and a additional planned order 10 units.
    Material Type : ERSA
MRP Type : PD (or VB)
Lot size : EX (  HB if MRP Type is VB)
Could you please throw some light to correct our settings to MRP to consider Open POs?

Can you check to see if there is a re-order point set up for this materia? That could be causing the problem too.

  • Incomplete Sales Order requirement to MRP

How to stop transferring Blocked Sales Order requirement to MRP?
We have scenario there we entered 100 line on orders, due to one or other reason we need to block the orders and do not want to transfer the requirement to MRP till the time the particular blocked removed manually.
How to do this? There is suggestion to use VOFM - Routine for transfer requirement. But not sure as that is the solution.
    Thanks
    PP

    Hi,
Define a new delivery block whee check the Confirmation and assign the block to the order. System will not pass the requirement to the MRP.
Path: LE >>Shipping >> Deliveries >> Define reason for blocking.

  • Scheduling Agreement -Schedule line should not pass the requirement to MRP

    Hi Friends!
As we all know the scheduling agreements is outline agreement with future schedule lines, with this system will  pass the requirements to MRP for the schedule line which is even after 5 years, so my requirement is  if the schedule line date is above 15 days from the current date then requirement should not pass to MRP.
solution which we gave is, SA initially will determine the schedule line category as  CN (which will not transfer the requirement) and  a batch job program will run daily and it will check for each schedule line if any of the schedule is with in the 15 days from the current date then it will change the schedule line category from CN to CP.
Now the problem is , by using Batch Job which program I have to call to change the schedule line category?????
    1. we tried BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE but when we are changing the CN to CP it is not performing ATP where as if we do manually it is performing.
    2. we tried BDC but here also we facing some strange problem i.e. while recording the ATP screen is not populating where it is coming while doing manual.
Can someone let me know which one program we should call in Batch job to do this change.
    Regards
    Nath

    Hi nath,
i also failed in changing shedule line category in userexit and in BAPI.
in one case, i succeded in doing it with a bdc after MV45AFZZ / userexit_save just bevore the datas are reset but after the commit-work is processed.
the other possibility is, to change the accepted amount in userexit RV03VFZZ / USEREXIT_AVAILABILITY_OUT.
    3. possibility is, to block the order with a delivery - block , same as the credit-control-block. This block can be set in MV45AFZZ or perhaps in BAPI too.

  • Dont want dependent requirement after MRP

    hi all
I dont want dependent requirement after MRP?
means A is a header material and B.C are the component
after MRP run system should be created requirement of component item.
    so wht r setting  required?
    plz guide me

    Hi,
First you ask how can you carry out settings not to get DepReq for your components than you say system should create requirements for your components.
Please give a clearer picture of your situation and make your question more clearer.
How do you procure your goods (if you do not use MRP)?
If you do not want DepReq for your goods you can:
    - remove them from the BOM (use them as text item, use design BOM - I do not know your situatio)
    - you can set the MRP type in material master as 'ND' (not planned) (MM02 > MRP1)
    Please give more information.
    Thanks,

  • What are the disadvantages of implementing APO- Demand Planning without improvements or cleaning up the MRP. in other words is DP implementation dependant on MRP process. Gurus please advise

HI All. What are the disadvantages of implementing APO- Demand Planning without improvements or cleaning up the MRP. in other words is DP implementation dependant on MRP process. Gurus please advise

    Hi Amol,
DP is the demand planning machine, here you estimate your forecast (future sales).
The MRP is a supply planning machine, here you use estimate the replenishment.
Both machines in a technical perspective are independent one each other. Now in a business perspective they are not: The problem that you will have if you don´t clean your MRP elements is not a problem in DP itself. I mean, you can have a very success implementation in DP, your forecast accuracy will be very good.. and you will get a very good forecast, but when the MRP run and estimate the replenishment, the effort that you made in DP will not be translated in good results and your planning situation will be still not good.
    Kind Regards,
    Mariano

  • Release strategy in sales order is required before MRP run

    Hi Experts,
My requirement is Release strategy in sales order is required before MRP run. My client is doing the following process:
    1) Creation of Sale order (MTO).  Ex: User creates 10 sale orders per day.
    2) MD04- Stock Requirement List. All 10 Sale orders should be displayed. So no problem here.
    3) MD50-Make to order-Planning . Here when user gives the sale order number and sale order item and press enter, then only the released sale orders should be allowed and the rest sale orders it should throw a error message and it should not allow to process further.
How this situation can be addressed in SAP.
Kindly post some hints and comments.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    Hi Kiran,
Define and Assign status profile BS02 at sales order detail (line item) lets say with create and release status
SD>Sales>Sales documents>Define and assign status profile
Have create status as default while creating SO with item
And do a user exit change for MD50 with ABAP consultant help and release it when user keys in SO and item.
For other line item I believe it will give an error
Pls try and update if it solves your requirment
    Regards,
    Siva

  • Which part of EP implementation requires webdynpro

    Hi All,
I am new to EP, and i know only how to create normal iviews(url iview & transactional iview only),worksets, roles. can anybody help me to know which part of EP implementation requires webdynpro and its importance.
Give some tips on some other important stuff which will be helpful for the implementation of EP
                      -- Jasmine.

    hi,
webdynpro is another  kind of perspective.Where we can use components of portals like abstract,dynpage,jsp..  or webdypro which is another perspective for creating UI screens.
Web Dynpro is the SAP programming model used to develop professional Web UIs for business applications. It consists of a runtime environment and a graphical development environment with special Web-Dynpro tools that are integrated in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
The Web Dynpro tools support application development during the implementation and design phases. When a Web Dynpro application is developed, a platform-independent metamodel is created from which Java classed are generated.
Since Web Dynpro features a clear separation between layout data and business data, you can develop Web Dynpro applications with the same programming model both for mobile devices and conventional PCs.
Web Dynpro offers application developers the following advantages:
    ·        Different implementation languages are supported
    ·        The use of declarative and graphical tools significantly reduces the implementation effort
    ·        Web Dynpro supports a structured design process
    ·        Strict separation of layout data and business data through use of the Model View Controller concept
    ·        Reuse and better maintainability by using components
    ·        The layout and navigation is easily changed using the Web Dynpro tools
    ·        Stateful applications are supported – that is, if the page is changed, the data that are required again remain intact, so you can access the data from a previous page again
    ·        Automatic data transport using data binding
    ·        Automatic input check
    ·        Automatic operation of the Web Dynpro application using the keyboard
    ·        Flicker-free screen construction
    ·        Syntax check at design time

  • Problem in Gross Requirment in MRP

I m facing a problem on my client, while caluclating the "gross requirment" in MRP calculation system does not take into account the forecast figure for the month which is already passed, my client want to see the gross requirment inclusive of forecast for the past month too, is there any way ?? any customization ?? querry or report??

    Dear Mr Hussain,
Unfortunately, once you run the MRP for a particular month, the forecast for the previous months are disregarded.
You can check the document regarding MRP called:
    MRP in Release 2004 A
that can be found in the How to Guide for 2004a in the Documentation Centre for SAP Business One on the portal.
As far as I am aware there is no workaround.

  • Splitting of requirements in MRP

    Hi Gurus,
Am implementing SOP wherein the monthly demand forecast is loaded as a sales plan and transfered to demand management, followed by a MRP run.
Would like to split the monthly demand into weekly demand in MRP. Is this possible? How?
Am aware that the demand can be easily split in demand management but want this to happen in MRP.
    Tarang

    Thanks Bhrama,
I know that it can be done in MD62. But then that means am splitting the demand.
    Example:
    Monthly Rqmts     100
    Requirements split into weeks:
    Ind Req     25
    Ind Req     25
    Ind Req     25
    Ind Req     25
Now how will the PIRs get consumed?
If the sales order is in between 1st and second week then in case of backward consumption only the 1st weeks PIR will get consumed.
In case if backward and forward consumption selection it will consume the next weeks (period) requirement but what if the requirement is large and will effect the next months planning also?
The rationale of not splitting the demand thus is -  Consume the demand - backward consumption 31 days. At the end of the month reorganize the PIR. Thus not effecting the planning of the next month.
Kindly advice if am thinking in the wrong direction.

  • Requirement in MRP even after Sales order completely delivered/cleared

I see a sales order in md04 even after that order is already cleared completely delivered
I have checked the pGI quantity in order and document flow. everything matches and status is completed/cleared.
I also ran SDRQCR21 in se38 with data transfer checked. Still I am unable to delete that fake order from md04.
    any help is appreciated.

    Hello ,
Have you checked & followed all instructions  in SAP note 207942.
"Generally you can solve these problems with report SDRQCR21from Note 25444. If not, these kinds of problems must be processed further in SD-BF-AC.
However, often the problem is also caused by the fact that
no requirements are generated at first or the generated requirements are only displayed but are not included in MRP calculation
    or vice versa
due to the Customizing settings requirements are stored although this is not wanted from the business view. "
This is a release independent SAP note. so it applies to ECC6.0 as well.
Hope this helps you resolve your issue.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi,
    I our simple sale Scenario:
sale document: OR, Item category: TAN, schedule line: CP, requirement type: 041,

  • Requirement class MRP control ?

    Hi Gurus,
i have created a material with strategy 40. first i created sales orders without changing any option in Requirement class. then i run MRP. planned orders are created for sales order.
after that i changed the requirement class as No MRP and creatred new sales orders when i run MRP The sales orders which i created after changing the Requirement class is getting added to the planned order.
as the second sales orders should not consider in MRP Why they are gettind added to the planned order.is there any other control that controls the sales order MRP consideration.
    Thanks&Regards,
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat
Check the requirement type on the sales order and make sure that your requirement type assigned to the requirement class was selected.
Also take a look on point 5 of the following document:
