Hi Tech Guys,
Our client is going to implement oracle Financials 11i, So they have ask me to do the SRS and system Analysis with in 15 days and i am the only guy to do this. I appreciate if u any tech guys look into this,and give me a suggestion..What is Global Engine and what is the main purpose of it, is it something like GL.Please see the attachment.Given below

Is there any way to get to an integrated front-office/back-office solution using 11i Field Sales and 11.0.3 for everything else (including 3i Service)?

The general response would be no.
I briefly looked at possibilities for Oracle Incentive Compensation but the work arounds seemed to be a pain from a functional perspective. Best to keep the assumptions simple.

Monitoring with HP OpenView

Has anyone implemented 11i and/or 10g Portal and set up application monitoring using HP OpenView? Are there any templates or requirements documents that can be used?

Based on what i have read
SAPCCMSR is a file deployed to collect data from systems and send it to Central system for monitoring. The extension -j2ee is used to monitor systems with only java stack.
GRMG is used for availability monitoring of components and scenarios in your java and abap landscape. GRMG does not pull performance and other data for the components.
GRMG is very useful for monitoring components which do not have a datasupplier associated to connect to Central Monitoring Systems (CEN).
The avaialability of components can also be monitored with CCMSPING agent.

EDI 850 outbound transaction to suppliers

Need some feedback.. how does oracle 11I handle pushing out blanket releases to EDI suppliers? We are currently in the process of implementing 11I using the 830 & 862 EDI transactions. Can the 830, also be used in place of the 850 without causing cascade receipts ??

There is no config related to that becuase if your PO's deli complete indicator is on but someone change the qty thensystem will auto. remove the on indicator that's the reason system will trigger the chagnes for EDI.
to control the line more than 200 you have to use the user exit to stop generating morethan 200.......is the downstrem system can't support then you can't do anything.
generally new po's created for the line has more than 200

Data Conversion/Extraction

Hi Hussein,
I am task to migrate, extract data and convert it to .csv to be loaded to our new set-up/implemented 11i.
The data comes from Oracle Apps 11.0.3 and partly on another 11i (11.5.10.2).
I am task to extract "Suppliers" data. How do you do it if I where you :)

Yes i am using toad to extract and convert it to .csv. I tried going to the form and select each fields. But there are fields that are derived and not existing on the tables presented :(
For example:
Payables Manager>Suppliers>Entry
Table:
-Accounting
Distribution Set == x AP_VENDORS_V.DISTRIBUTION_SET_NAME???
Liability == ???
Prepayment == ???
Future Dated Payment ==????
And from what table?? Oracle diagnostics only specify AP_VENDORS_V as a source but does other values are not found here.

Customer Master with Multi-Org

We are implementing 11i with multi-org. We have been trying to determine at what level the customer master (and others such as item master) files reside within the multi-org levels. Specifically, does the customer master lie in the set of books level, or at the operating unit level, or the legal entity level, or some other level?

Your last sentence is very interesting, have you customized to secure Customer Header by OU ?
Was it a heavy customisation ? Did it impact many forms ?
Because this would have to be effective in all screens bringing customer info (Telesales, Teleservice, Sales Online, AR, OM, ...).

We run 57 SOBs and OUs. Customer Header is above SOB and OU level. It is shared bu all OUs and SOBs.
Customer Address and entities below (site use etc) are OU level.
FYI it is possible to customize to secure Customer Header by OU (org_id).

Need to ftp files(BACS) from Server to Users Local Machine-Urgent

I am working on a Oracle HRMS Implementation(11i) and have a requirement wher I need to ftp files (BACS File) from a server to Users Local Machine.
Please let me know any scripts or the way forward to achieve the same using a concurrent program.

That requires the users machine for a ftp server installed and to be "visible" to the conc program server, the first one requiring setup and configure for every client and the second one may be a problem if in different segments or security policies. Another approach may be to generate the files on the server in a known location and from the client create a batch script to connect to that server and retrieve the file(s). You may schedule the program to run at certain hours or use a shortcut so the user can run it on demand

WIP @ annual physical

We are a discrete manufacturer in a fabricate to stock...assemble to order environment. In the process of implementing 11i...coming from a legacy system. How does Oracle handle WIP jobs at the annual physical inventory? Last year we had around 2,600 jobs that had either labor/material or both applied at the time we took our "snapshot" of inventory. We typically backflush our end item assemblies and push our fabricated/machined piece parts.

Unfortunately Oracle has NO WIP inventory module unless you
place the jobs into a Dummy Subinventory of WIP.
We have used the following work around to take inventory of our
WIP jobs.
Create a Physical Inventory for the WIP jobs. Specific
Subinventory - any you choose. Take a snapshot.
Generate TAGS (ALL BLANK). This will give you something to write
your info on.
We then export the Oracle Standard report WIP Location report.
This shows the WIP job, Operation and Quantity.
This is then imported into an Access Database table as the
baseline. A screen form has been created looking like the
Inventory Ticket .
We then enter the info from the ticket to the Access Database
form and subsequently run comparison reports of Baseline VS
Ticket file.
Any discrepancies can be adjusted through normal WIP
transactions, such as WIP Move, WIP material ISSUE etc.

Release 11i to Release 12 upgrade or Re-Implement. Which is better?

Hi Customer,
One of our customers has implemented Oracle Applications 11i (11.5.9) [Oracle Financials] on Linux (Single Node).
They are planning to implement Oracle HRMS and also wants to upgrade to R12 and Oracle Discoverer 10g.
They want to know which of the following is the best option with regard to the above?
1. upgrade from 11.5.9 to R12 and then implement Oracle HRMS
2. upgrade from 11.5.9. to 11.5.10.2 then upgrade to R12 and then implement Oracle HRMS
3. Re-implement Oracle Financials R12 and then implement Oracle HRMS
I have suggested the 1st option but customer wants to know the pros and cons in re-implementing Oracle Financials in R12 and then implementing Oracle HRMS
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Customer told me that business models have not changed and the organization structure too has not changed.Well, in this case I believe the upgrade should be the choice.
Customer feels that it MAY be easier to re-implement Oracle Financials in new R12 environment compared to the complex upgrade process from 11.5.9 to R12.Technical perspective, it is true as you just need to do a fresh installation and apply couple of patches, and you are done.
I told them the cost of re-implementation on R12 will be much higher than Upgrade to R12If the customer is willing to afford the re-implementation cost then let them go with it. Though for you the fresh installation would be less challenging compared to the upgrade, but you would have less headache ;)

The standard BI Publisher is part of EBS applications.
Most of the EBS reports(R12) are based on BI Publisher.
If you check the responsibility 'XML Publisher Administrator' you will see all the templates used in the application.
Your technical team should already know this.
On the other hand OBIEE would need separate licences.
But for you BI Publisher would do.

11i and FastForward Rapid Implementation

There doesn't seem to be any documentation for using FF/RI for 11i. Can anyone point me to set-up documentation (other than sales promotion material/literature)? We would like to avoid, if at all possible, having to cross reference every item/step back to the documentation for 11.x
Does anyone know if Oracle is abandoning FastForward as an implementation methodology? Yes? No? Why?

There are many reasons. Automatic Memory Management, Automatic Undo, Flashback, PL/SQL optimizations are the first ones that come to mind. You can spend less time tuning the database to free up time hunting down suboptimally performing customized processes that tend to bring production to it's knees.
