Implementing 3rd party SCORM compliant software onto Oracle ilearning

I am having real trouble uploading SCORM compliant software into Oracle iLearning can anyone help??

Hi,
I've implemented quite a lot of 3rd party SCORM content onto iLearning and have to say it is rarely as easy as it's supposed to be due to the nuances of different authoring tools, production techniques and SCORM packaging methods.
Could you let me know a little more detail on the errors you are geting and I'll see if I can help.

  • 3rd Party SCORM Adapter

I'm wondering if anyone has implemented a 3rd party SCORM adapter with OLM? We have run into performance issues with the integrated SCORM Adapters ability to stream voice. Our courses are currently created with UPK - with voice - and are VERY large in size. Unfortunatley, UPK only supports WAV files at this time which is unfortunately a very large voice file with minimal to no compression.
We are experiencing tremendous slowdown deliverying this content with our existing OLM infrastructure. We had an OLM Architect completely review our implementation to assure accurate configuration and the result was that all was configured correctly - but the SCORM adapter doesn't efficiently stream the voice. Our experience has shown that each page takes approximately 175Kbp per page to bring down the voice (this compares to a 28Kbp voice call)....you can see the HUGE difference. '
Before I start researching other adapters for OLM - interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this same problem and potential resolutions.
NOTE: We are currently deployed with a single content server accessed over the WAN but are heavily considering local content servers...the issue becomes accurate replication and assuring every content server has the same "instance of the truth"....we would be deploying 18 content servers worldwide so I think you can see the concern here.
Of course and easy solution is no voice....but not the desired outcome.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Lisa

    Lisa,
The SCORM Adapter has nothing to do with it. The SCORM adapter is simply an HTML frameset surrounding the content. The issue sounds like the content server machine more than anything else.

  • How to implement password policy for a software in oracle (sql) forms & reports 6i ?

  • How will FCPX implement 3rd Party Plug-ins?

From a Professional standpoint, the current version of FCPX is unusable on so many levels due to the absence of basic features that made FCP series the juggernaut it was until yesterday.
Here's my prediction of HOW Apple plans to distribute Plug-ins and Add-ons:
Apple is pushing towards a single, universal OS -- most likely a glorified iOS. And they're forcing FCPX users to upgrade to Lion so they have Appstore on their machines just to buy FCPX. Matter of fact, theyi're seeing more profit from Appstore/iTunes than their own computers! Ever since the success of the Appstore -- Apple/Jobs has been pushing to create products and services that will bring even more profit to the Appstore/iTunes business model.
Hence the release of the iPad and the development of iPad apps -- and the move to with OSX Lion.
The reason for this is so that Apple can take their flagship software like FCP --- and monetize all 3rd-party plug-ins and add-ons.
SO, once Apple has a consumer using FCPX, if they want Multi-cam or Import/Export features -- you will have to buy it as an add-on and sell all FCPX plug-ins and add-ons THROUGH THE APPSTORE.
Furthermore -- Apple will most likely force all 3rd-party developers to build plug-ins for FCPX as an APP -- and sell it THROUGH THE APPSTORE -- where Apple gets 30% commission -- stealing that money away from the developers, who in the past with FCP7, you were able to purchase directly from the developer.
SO -- FCPX isn't a revolution in editing....
FCPX is a revolution in MONETIZING FINAL CUT PRO PLUG-INS through the APPSTORE!

Apple is pushing towards a single, universal OS -- most likely a glorified iOS.
No they are not. OS X is a far more developed, powerful and mature OS than iOS. There is no sign that it is being some reduced in power in any way. There's a whole lot of fokks claiming it is simply because a few interface features from iOS are being added  - note added - to OS X.
And they're forcing FCPX users to upgrade to Lion so they have Appstore on their machines just to buy FCPX.
Well I hate the argue but that's factually untrue as well. No FCPX users are not forced to upgrade to Lion. Snow Leopard users can buy FCPX today, long before Lion is introduced.

  • Can I use a USB camera with the 3rd party USB camera software and share screens?

I want to do more than just use a USB camera w/iChat (or ichatusb).  I also need to be able to initiate screen sharing between two computers.  Specifically, I will use iChat with an insight built in camera on my end, and the other person will be using an iMac G5 PPC using a USB camera and the 3rd party USB software for USB ichat support.
My question then is am I able to request screen sharing (taking over their screen) from my ichat/fw combo to their ichatusb/usb combo?
    thanks
    dc

    Hi,
The Cameras don't come into this at all.  (But iChat and OS versions do)
Each end needs iChat 4 or higher.
Go to the Video menu and Enable Screen Sharing (Selecting toggles a tick On and Off (Tick Present is ON) )
Highlight Buddy in list and use the Screen Sharing icon at the bottom of the list (interlinked rectangles).
The G5 could be on Leopard (iChat 4) and be using a  USB 1.1 camera that would need iUSBCam (formerly iChatUSBCam) as well as the Camera manufacturers Software.
iChat 3 (In Tiger OS 10.4.x) on the G5 with a USB 1.1 camera, Software and iUSBCam may well offer a Screen Sharing option (Or rather Desktop as Video Feed) in the iChat > Video Menu  and that will not work
However if the G5 has USB 2.0 ports (not the Keyboard additional ports) then if it is up to OS 10.4.9 it can use a UVC Camera for Video Chats  (UVC = USB Video Class No need for Additional Drivers) but Screen Sharing will still be an issue due to the iChat version.
IF the G5 is still on OS 10.4.x then you will have to use a third Party VNC app at both ends (And run a iChat Audio Chat along side)

  • Relying on 3rd-Party/Open Source Software for fully functionality in Vi

Is it just me or are open source software engineers doing a better job than actual Creative software engineers?
There are several threads linking to 3rd-Party hacks to get the majority of Creative Apps working in Vista. As well as this there are the KXProject Drivers floating around which appear to offer better compatability than the current Creative drivers.
What's going on Creative? How many Software Engineers do you actually have working for you?
Why is it, people you don't even pay are making much greater developments and progress in drivers and software for Vista?
But i guess they're not charging customers to purchase?updates on?CD. I remember when the Audigy was released, instead of offering downloads, Creative actually asked people to buy an updated CD with software and drivers on. Of course we were only?charged for postage, but very expensi've postage nevertheless.Message Edited by AnnoyedCustomer on 03-09-200703:3 PM

Hi welcome to the forum, I hope you find lots of help here and we look forward to your contributions as well
    In regards to your questions:
1: No, you just put a swf file on the server
    2. You can host the smaller app on your site and then give them an iframe linking to it
    3. Nope, no problems there
    Hope this helps

  • 3rd party call log software questions

Does anyone know of a Centro-compatible 3rd party call log manager that lets me delete/purge multiple entries at once, ie, something like each entry has a checkbox and if it's checked, you can select delete (or purge) and just those entries get removed? I guess I make a lot of phone calls, and it gets extremely cumbersome to delete/purge entries individually. I'd love to select multiple non-consecutive entries then be able to delete them all at once. Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Mike

I haven't seen any 3rd party programs that have the feature you are requesting. You can do an internet search to see if you can find one.

  • Installing SCORM compliant content on Oracle 11i

Iam trying to install some SCORM courseware onto the Oracle 11i platform (Ive been told by my customer this is a new version that ties together iLearn and OLM) and iam having some difficulty getting the courseware to track.
Ive been told by some other users that previous version of OLM / iLearn have required adjustments and addional fields to be added to the IMSmanifest for the courseware to be able track properly. This is my first dealing with the an Oracle Learning Managemeny platform and I was wondering if anyone could point in the correct direction as I realy need to get this working? I would be happy to just be able to get some documentation of the oracle LMS so I could learn!
My customer says he has Oracle 11i with CU2 and OTAJ with CU1 , and he says this is quite a recent version? Does anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks Mike

Hi, Ive established the SCORM adapter is installed and registered but iam still getting the same problems. Ive read in this forum :
Re: SCORM Course returning a strange error code in iLearning
That my courseware shouldnt be calling LMSFinish as the this is called for me by the player? Is this the case in this particular version of Oracle - and if so should be experiencing any side effects? In this case I get no tracking back to the LMS?
    Thanks Mike

  • A 3rd Party system restore software story.

Hi all.  This will probably only apply to those of you on this forum that don't have a very strong knowledge base of Windows and how to correct major system issues, etc., like myself.  I had my first serious hard-drive crash yesterday.  I tried installing some older software on Vista, and upon reboot, I would only get blue-screened and then rebooted and then blue-screened, so on so forth.  I had purchased a copy of Acronis True Image 11 based on some internet reviews and had been backing up my system weekly.  Of course, I had not tried the software out, as I wasn't going to wipe my drive just for the fun of it, so when my system got messed over by me, myself and I, I definitely had a moment of panick as to wether or not the restore software would work.  I can honestly say it was a well spent 40 bucks.
The install CD from Acronis is also bootable, so once I figured out I was in over my head since Vista wouldn't even boot into safe mode, I tossed the cd in and waited for the worst.  It booted me right to the main software menu, which is very user friendly, and in about a minute and half I was on my way to re-imaging (if that is the correct term)  my hard-drive.
All in all, it took near 5 hours to complete as I selected every verification and fail-safe option the software had, but finally it spat out that the process was complete.  I threw up a quick prayer, and clicked OK to reboot the PC.  Everything booted right back up just fine.  No weird driver errors, or configuration issues.  Nothing but a functional OS, and functional everything-else software.
If anyone is thinking abotu buying backup software or can't make a decision, I would highly recommend Acronis.  It's very simple to use, and I can tell you it actually works flawlessly.
Hope this is a help for anyone who needs it.

    Thanks again Bear,
I have Roxio 5 so that would have been fun also... LOL.  Did you give a thought to the Windows Restore app also?  BTW for MP3s I think some of the cars see MP3 but depends on the bit rate that you burn them. Some can do the 128 others the full 320bit.  I use Cakewalk Pyro because if it's super ease and use. The Creative X-FI Pro does come with some nice software like the Pyro but is a bit complicated. Thanks again for the info.

  • Reco for 3rd party Chroma-keying software (Ultimatte or better)

Does anyone have any experience of working with Ultimatte AdvantEdge Chroma Key Software? I'm looking for something that will key nicely in post and perform better than the built-in doo-dah in our beloved FCP (not that there's anything too wrong with that). Meanwhile footage-wise, everything is stunningly lit (flat where it should flat, even where it should be even, excellent color temperature, etc). It couldn't be shot any better. God, it is soooo beautiful. And the costumes, simply breathtaking... wonderful color balance and choices. This was shot and designed by true creative geniuses.
But I digress. So, if anyone has an info about Advantage or any other chroma-keying software drop me a note.
Oh, and please no "should ofs" I'm just the bleedin' editor. And by the way... did I mention the footage is stunningly beautiful?
    Thanks

I have five keyers including Ultimatte, which is pricey.
I prefer dvmatte pro from dvxgarage, which isn't pricey

  • Contracts Management 3rd Party Software

    Good afternoon,
I have been asked to implement a Contracts Management solution using SharePoint 2010. I am by no means a professional and I feel this is beyond my abilities. I created a custom list with expiry date. Also it lists the contracts ending in 60days and ending
in 120days. There will be roughly 500 contracts uploaded to the custom list/library. I have since been asked to have the contracts sorted within groups (not folders) I am not sure how to do that. A SharePoint Designer workflow is needed to alert someone when
the contract is up for renewal. I have read all the threads and Google info regarding that step and I can not get it to work.
Is there a 3rd party Contracts Management software out there that can be used via SharePoint? I have a feeling my simple solution will not be good enough as I am sure they will need files archiving and more functionality down the road.
    Thank you.

To group the items in the list is really easy once you know how. Let's say you have a choice field called 'market area' which might be Public, Education, Finance etc.
You can then create a 'view' in the list that groups the items by that column.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/sharepoint-server-help/create-modify-or-delete-a-view-HA010377693.aspx
There's a dozen ways to do the notification emails bit. The simplest, and best, is to create a 'Policy' in the list for that document.
This is an example of someone doing what you wanted (and asking for a bit more which is trickier)
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/83019/email-group-when-documents-reaches-expiry-date
There's going to be a million 3rd party tools that can work with SharePoint to greater or lesser degrees. If you really want to determine what to go for you'll need to do a full requirement capture exercise to identify exactly what the system needs to do.
One of SharePoint's strengths that is often underrated is that it's highly flexible compared to most software at that scale.

  • Clusterware Pricing and/or Licensing Information for 3rd Party Applications

    Hi,
Can anyone please direct me to Oracle Clusterware 11g pricing and/or licensing information in the scenario where the Clusterware solution is intended for use with a 3rd party application and not with Oracle Database?
Also, in the case where Clusterware is used with Oracle Database 11g Enterprise, does it require a separate license?
I appreciate if anyone can provide me with a link to this type of information.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Johan

OK - So if there is no RAC installed and you all you need to do is provide Cold failover for an Oracle database instance then yes the Clusterware license is at no charge in this scenario.
    briefly :
you install a Clusterware home - as if you were goin gto create a RAC database
then you install a database software home on each node.
    then you create the instance.
there is a good paper here : http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware
See : Using Oracle Clusterware to Protect A Single Instance Oracle Database 11g (PDF) February 2008
If the software you are wanting to protect 'talks' to an Oracle database
You can either install on the RAC nodes - using the clusterware that is already there
    OR
install Oracle clusterware onto 2 or 3 or more new nodes to build an new application cluster and then install your application.
Either way both meet the terms of the license doc.

  • 3rd party backup for EBS

    Hi hussein,
Have you heard about 3rd party backup software that caters all kinds of apps and databases? It is working on the O.S. side
and does not interacts with RMAN. I am just wondering how can it be effective or reliable without using RMAN?
Are 3rd party OS backups supported by Oracle?
The name of the software is ecostream and its kinda cheaper backup solution. Something like 8,000USD.
Your comments is very much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot,
    Ms K

    Hi,
What I mean is it is not same sa veritas, Is is a disaster recovery software. It copies the apps and db folder to another
server using OS copy then they can open the EBS at the other server just like Oracle DataGuard.Does it simply copy the files and let you open the application/database on the target nodes with no additional setup? I suspect there is any software in the market that can do this as there are other steps need to be followed before and after copying the application/database tier files to have a Data Guard.
They also use veritas for backup purposes but no RMAN. Have you heard something like this? This is possible (RMAN is mainly required for hot database backup).
    Thanks,
    Hussein
