Implementing BC ecommerce in a Muse site

Hello everybody, I have a website built in muse, published and hosted with BC, and I want to implement the ecommerce module.
I already updated my account, so I have the ecommerce in my control panel. The thing is that if I want to be able to manage the layout from BC I need to enable online content editing, which is not compatible with muse! so essentially everything I would edit online from the BC control panel would be overwritten any time I would publish some modifications on muse.
I saw an interesting tutorial ( http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/muse-advanced-cms-integration/ ) about cms integration in muse... it's about a blog and it's with the old interface...
Is there anybody who can help me to find a solution to integrate the cms of the ecommerce into my muse website?
Thanks
Luca

Hi Luca,
It is not really designed for that and more advanced stuff. It calls Blog advanced and that is pretty basic.
Muse is a stepping stone into the web world, its not the ultimate tool.
You need to do layouts and for BC to work well in eCommerce you need to break out some extra javascript etc to get it working well. You have payment forms, shopping cart, product layouts etc all needing to setup and be managed by the client in the admin and the web company or designer/developer they work with needs to provide them with the features they need.

  • ECommerce Integration with Muse

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to integrate ecommerce with a Muse site? The BC sales materails are not as straight forward as the reality of using ecommerce in BC. I was using Big Commerce and that was a lot easier to use. I really hope Adobe can address this issue soon because Muse is great but BC is not as straight forward as other ecommerce solutions. They say you can create a web site with no code which is true in Muse, but in BC you at least need to know CSS.
As far as integrating ecommerce, the fist question is I'd like to design the shop page in Muse because I have more design flexiblity. So after that is complete the page will be www.MySite.com/shop. Do I just create links to each item on the page to the catalogs? Then what happens with the navigation?
For example, if a user arrives on the shop page and clicks on "Shirts," they would then go to the shirts catalog. What if they want to view "pants" and "shoes." Would they have to go back to the shop page every time?
Also can anyone suggest a ecomerce solution that will provide an embedded code to include in my Muse site? I'm seriously thinking about downgrading until Adobe addresses this issue. This project is becoming a bit more time consuming than what I was led to believe when I purchased the ecommerce solution.

Muse does not really support all the more intermediate to advanced abilities that BC has. You will need to wait for someone who has used Muse to help with it but I see many people struggle with the concepts coming from Muse unfortnatly as it does not really teach these things or offer up the tools to do this, because they are more complicated.

Each layout of BC has tags availible to run under, you can access layouts via the admin or via SFTP and update the layouts, and add the tags and manage your CSS and Javascript to expand and customise your site.
Tools like Dreamweaver, Coda, Sublime Text, Komodo, notepadd++ etc are just some of the coding tools website designers and developers use to build sites in BC and with other CMS's. Must is more of a basic tool to produce some sites if your a graphic designer taking the first steps into the field.

  • Merging two separate MUSE sites into a single MENU system and Paid & online BC eCommerce site

Hi all! I am stuck trying to figure out a Process Conundrum:
1> I have a BC site with e-commerce ready to go - paid - online with store template in place.
2> I also Have a 2nd MUSE created web site (with the client content/pages) that needs to merge with that E-commerce BC site.
What is the move to merge the two separate sites into a single site with the Menus all in proper order?
Is this simple and I can not see it? (merge the two sites in a folder and reopen in muse for new menus?
Or do i need Dreamweaver to assist in the merge?
    In other words:
What is the PATH/PROCESS to merge a 2nd MUSE designed web site (sans e-commerce), in order to tie into the online BC e-commerce template paid site - so the menus update together as "one" site?
Menu Update Concern:  merging two separate MUSE sites into a single MENU system with the "Paid on line Active BC e-commerce Template". How do it do it Process wise so that the menus adjust automatically... so they are "one" menu.
Reminds me of an old joke: Q: "What did the Buddhist say to the hot dog vendor at the ball park?"
A: "Make me one with everything!"
    ONWARD>>>>>
Possible paths I am about to take attempting to Solve the problem - and scale the learning curve...
download the BC e-commerce site into Dreamweaver -
export the 2nd muse site by publishing it to a unique folder.
combine them by going back into dream weaver and attempting to figure out linking the menus. - perhaps they are automatic there too.
or load them both up to BC and back down to MUSE to fix the menus?
I appreciate Any recommendations, hits or humor that you could help on this.
    Cheers!

Thanks, Liam... I will get it eventually...
Sadly: I do not have a budget to hire this out...
       -  I have gone through lots of the BC and Muse training exercises. Adobe
       and BC Gurus.
But... if the only problem is that I need to work though my partner site BC
    interface...
       - that would be fine...
       - so would using dream weaver....
I will go back and review the BC interface and also dreamweaver
    capabilities.
without a budget... i need to figure it out... please do point to any
material or training you might be able to point me to.
I don't have to use muse, if that is my sticking point. I just need to get
the project up and BC looks perfect.
    Thanks.

  • Creating a ecommerce website with Muse and BC

    Hello,
I would like to create my site in Muse, then add a catalog in with business catalyst but i don't know if i will be able to continue editing the site in Muse once i upgrade it to webcommerce plan in business catalyst.
I also would like to know how it works when i integrate the catalog in Muse. Do i add a HTML code in a page in Muse then the visitor will be able to navigate in the catalog in the same Muse page? What are the steps to follow to implement a catalog in a Muse website?
I already watched some tutorials but never found specific answers.
    Thanks for your help.
    Élara.

Hi there, Do a bit of a forum search as there are a few topics on the Muse and eCommerce already.
You can kind of do something but Muse is more of a beginer tool to build basic websites for graphic designers. Its not really a web building tool.
There is a lot to eCommerce and you need to really understand BC, its modules, UI design, HTML, CSS and Javascript to implement eCommerce on BC correctly and get stuck in with coding.

  • How to install API in Muse site

Hello, does anyone here know how to implement an API into a Muse website like this one: Bigstock API documentation.  I'd like to use this service for my business and I have no clue as to how to implement this or if it is even possible with Muse.  Would anyone be able to help, please?

You don't really put a CMS in a site. You put a site into a
    CMS.
There are dozens of options. For small sites, Wordpress is
    popular. For
larger sites, Joomla is another popular one. But, really,

  • Creating Search box on Muse site

Does muse have an option to create a search box just for the website?  I can't find any info on this ---

No, currently Muse does not have this feature.
You can use the Google version of this ( there is a HTML code snippet to add to your page to implement this ) to search just your site, but in my opinion, it hasn't worked very well where I have used this work-around.

  • The Muse-Site is on Tablet sluggish, not smooth. What can i do?

All Muse-Site are sluggish on Tablet. They don't run smooth and soft. On desktop everything runs fine on scrolling, but not on Tablet. What can i do?

Please provide the URL of the site.
The larger the number of individual attributes being updated during scrolling the larger the load on the CPU. The larger the amount of image data being moved and clipped at different rates, the more likely it is the CPU/GPU performance will begin to lag on lower performance devices.
What version of Muse was used to generate the site? Major changes were made to how scroll effects are implemented within the browser to significantly reduce the CPU load when animating multiple attributes and/or objects in the 7.2 release
A site that makes heavy use of scroll effects in terms of the total number of attributes/objects being animated and/or the total amount of image data being animated will lag on lower powered devices and slower browsers.

  • How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) application to a page in a Muse site?

How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) (Cartweaver 4) application to a page in a Muse site? Do I have to export the Muse site as Html to dreamweaver and them use the extension to bring the shooping cart in or can I do it directly in Muse?
    Message was edited by: mgv2048

We have experimented with doing this with some good success. We have been working on adding Cartweaver to a Facebook page by essentially adding a Cartweaver store to Facebook in an iframe.  The "store" would be pages with just your basic product display, cart, and checkout functionality, with none of the "window dressing" - just use CSS to match the color and general look of the design it's being added to.
The one problem with this for Facebook is when it comes time to check out toy have to leave Facebook and go to your server where an SSL is in place.  Fortunately in this situation this would not be the case, you can have an SSL installed to the root of your site and you'll be okay.
This is an interesting project.  Give this a try and let me know how it goes and if you run into any snags, please make a post on the Cartweaver forums: http://forums.cartweaver.com - I'm really confident that this can work, and not only work, but work well.
Looking forward to hearing how this goes, and being of what help we can.

I'm trying to add Google's new Universal Analytics code (.js code) to my muse site. I've added the js code into the Master page that every page uses but that doesn't seem to work. I've also tried adding it individually to each page (removing it from the master) but that also doesn't work. Google's tag manager says it is installed, but Analytics says it isn't.
Does anyone know how I'd install it? Here is the website in question.

  • How do I add a blog to my Muse site?

Is there a widget or something I can throw onto a page and have people post comments?
Or more importantly, can I just allow my customer to post "News" through In-Browser editing? (Do I just throw a text block on a page and title it, "News" and let them add to it)?
What if they wanted to add photos to their "News" or "Blog" page?

You can absolutely insert a blog into your Adobe Muse site. Most instructions for doing this involve creating a WordPress hosted blog, then embedding that into a Muse page with 'Insert HTML', which creates an iframe with your blog inside.
While embedding an existing blog with an iframe within a Muse page works, it isolates the blog's content from being considered in the main site's SEO, since it's pages are not actually on the site's server.
The simplest way, and it's very simple, is to install a WordPress, or any other, blog into a folder in your site named 'blog'. Pick a theme that enables you to mimic your main as closely as you care to. Then create a link in your main site's menu to link to the blog folder. Here's an example...
    http://creativeillusions.biz
You can also use a blank WordPress theme with no header or footer at all - only the blog posts and sidebar(for categories and recent posts, etc.). Use that theme with a locally installed WordPress blog, them embed that blog in an iframe, and you'd have a very functional blog that can perfectly fit your Muse site's theme, since it's header and footer will actually be the ones on your main site. Plus, since it's actually hosted along with your Muse site's files, it's available for the site's SEO.
For SEO purposes, you'll need to add your blog folder manually to your sitemap.xml. This is a bit of a hassle, since you'll need to add the blog's entry into your sitemap.xml each time that you re-upload your site, since that actually writes a new version of the sitemap.xml over the existing one. Still, it's a very simple way to add a blog to your Muse site.

  • How do I add cookies to adobe muse site?

    Hello,
I am creating a site in Adobe Muse, which I also host through the webbasic adobe business catalyst account.
I want to add a cookies message onto my site and to that of client sites that I create.
I searched the forum and there appears to be a guide showing how to get the cookies set up in adobe business catalyst itself. However, when I try to follow the instructions, I fall at the first hurdle because it tells me to go into Site Manager and then into Pages. However, I don't have anything that says Pages. Mine only has two options; Web Forms and System Emails. The only thing in the Web Forms folder is Contact Form.
I have no idea how to get the cookies message onto my Adobe Muse site. Please...does anyone know the answer?
Also, if someone from Adobe reads this, it would be great if Adobe Muse had a widget for this...considering it is now a requirement for all websites that use cookies to be able to get consent. I hope it's in the next update.
    Cheers
    Sebastian

Refer to this thread for instructions on adding a Manage cookies form - http://forums.adobe.com/message/539301
The online content editing is disabled by default for sites published through Muse to BC and hence the Pages tab doesn't appear for you under Site Manager. However, you can always enable the Online Content editing feature by logging into the site admin -> going to the My Details section (by hovering over your name at the top right) and enable the option as indicated in the screenshot below.
Please refer to the following post for a reason as to why the option is incompatible with Muse (but doesn't affect any functionality as such if you enable it).

  • How do you add BC ecommerce features to Muse?

For more a year I see this same question, not one spokesperson from Adobe has given a straightforward answer. Why are you suggesting we go to 3rd party providers like Wazala, Ecwid, Americart to get add on shopping carts to "insert as HTML" on my Muse built website and are paying 38$ a month to host on BC? Both BC and Muse are Adobe products, I don't know the code but I have a reasonable expectations that your products should work together, if I can't add the same shopping cart features from BC to Muse, really all of BC features to Muse why do I need BC in the first place? When is Adobe going to add all the BC widgets to the Muse library? When is BC going to provide the HTML codes for all the BC features that we can copy and paste in the "insert HTML" option on Muse? Why do I have to go to Wazala? Adobe knew when I used Muse I didn't know the code so don't give me some crazy code based solution, I won't understand anyway. That's why I pay for CC and BC for you to provide it. I would appreciate a response. This is stopping me from making money. My muse site is finished, how do I add the shopping cart from BC? Thank you

You can add Google Calender using iframe which Google provides if you go to calender settings.
Once you insert this code in Muse page through Object > Insert HTML , the calender will be displayed on page.
