Implementing Process Management

Hi guys,
How do you usually implement Process Management? This is the first time I worked with the feature and I'm quite confused. It's necessary to mark the SupportProcessManagement in the Scenario, right? Anything else?
I really appreciate your feedback.
Thanks!
Jai

Hi Jai,
Generally:
1. Define which accounts will be submitted in each phase (Max 9) and group them (0-99).
2. Assign those groups to phases (Data > Phased Submission).
The admin guide gives good examples to illustrate it,
Lu

  • Regarding Oracle Business Process Manager and WS-Security

    Hi All,
Actually I like to invoke couple of secure services running on seperate
server runnnig JWSDP.These services are using WS-security,so I am just
wondering if it possible to call these webservices through Oracle
    Business Process Manager.
As our secure services are using JWSDP so thats the reason we prefer to
use the BPEL engine which deployed on top of JWSDP so that We dont
have to confront with compatable issues among different toolkits.
So I am just wondering do you think that Oracle business process manager
ws-secuirity implementation can use the JWSDP implementation i.e
xws-security implementation,in otherwords is it possible to use JWSDP
with Oracle business process manager for using the ws-security?Thanks.
    I would appreciate your help.

yes we do native in Oracle BPEL PM (username token) - as explained here

  • BPEL Process Manager doamin in 11g

    Hi All,
We are in process to create a new SOA project in 11g using BPEL. Previously we have implemented BPEL projects in 10g and is quite familiar with it.
In 10G, apart from the developers, we also have technical business people who monitor BPEL processes through the Process Manager. Each project is divided up in BPEL domains so they only see what they need to see .
Is the concept of BPEL domains (or SOA domains) completely gone in 11g? If so how do you suggest we expose the BPEL processes to the users in a user friendly manner? The 11g Fusion Enterprise Manager has way too much information for your average user.
We could install a new EM on a Weblogic Server for each business, but isnt that way too much over head to achieve project isolation?
    Thanks in advance!
    Shaf

we are bringing this back (we are well aware of this limitation) - and the first incarnation (that allows for grouping of composites) - will likely show up in the next patch release. [which is as much as I am allowed to say with regards to promised features]. Target end state: full fledged RBAC / tuning / logging and all the other good stuff we had with bpel domains.
    cheers clemens (soa pm team)

  • SAP Implementation Process !!!

    Hi Folks,
I need brief information about the SAP implementation process. As per the ASAP Methodology we have different phases involved in the entire implementation process from Project preparation,Blue print analysis,Realization,Final Preparation and Go Live Support.
I did not involve myself into implementation. Being a Basis consultant I would like to know what is the involvement of basis consultant in each phase in detail and what are the activities being carry out by a basis team, what would be the avg team size and what would be the duration of the project approximately. I know it depends on the project and modules being used, architecture and all. i just wanted to know the rough details for information.
I would really appreciate for any useful information.
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi Viond,
Please find below an elaborated details for SAP Implementaion.
The ASAP (Accelerated SAP) Roadmap provides the methodology for implementing and continuously optimizing your SAP System. It divides the implementation process into five major phases and offers detailed Project Plans to assist you (Microsoft Project format). The documentation stored at each level of the Roadmap tree structure contains recommendations on implementing your SAP System and links to helpful tools and accelerators. We use SAP Solution Manager for the same and define the steps and this information can be transformed into MPP.
The implementation of your SAP System covers the following major phases:
    Project Preparation
In this phase you plan your project and lay the foundations for successful implementation. It is at this stage that you make the strategic decisions crucial to your project:
Define your project goals and objectives
Clarify the scope of your implementation
Define your project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence
Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources
Sizing for the SAP Servers (SAPS) Important for Basis.
    Business Blueprint
In this phase you create a blueprint using the Question & Answer database (Q&Adb) older versions and now it has been replaced by new value adds from SAP in Solution Manager, which documents your enterpriseu2019s requirements and establishes how your business processes and organizational structure are to be represented in the SAP System. You also refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase.  In short its As is >> To be its from from functional consultant (mapping of business process) Basis will be involved how and when backup will be taken what 3rd party/vendor will be used, how users will be handled (CUA or normal procedure).
    Realization
In this phase, you configure the requirements contained in the Business Blueprint. Baseline configuration (major scope) is followed by final configuration (remaining scope), which can consist of up to four cycles. Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation. Major part will be creation of transport requests and transportation to QAS system. Configuration of SAProuter, Solution manager and its various configuration
    Final Preparation
In this phase you complete your preparations, including testing, end user training, system management, and cutover activities. You also need to resolve all open issues in this phase. At this stage you need to ensure that all the prerequisites for your system to go live have been fulfilled...Final Check.
    Go Live & Support
In this phase you move from a pre-production environment to the live system. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.
You can also download an HTML version of the ASAP Core Roadmap 7.1 on [SAP Services Marketplace - ASAP Roadmaps and Run SAP Roadmaps|http://service.sap.com/asap] (SMP login required).
    All the best !

  • Business Process Management Tool Evaluation ARIS or Systems Architect?

    Hi Group
I have joined this community yesterday, so I am pretty much new here.
I work as a Business Process Analyst for a semi govt company. I have been tasked for evaluating a tool for business process management.
    Current scenario is as under:
    1) We are using Microsoft visio as a mapping software
    2) BPMN standards for process modelling
    3) The design phase of our new ERP software will be starting soon.
    4) My company has got vision to become BPM company over the years, we are at very early stage of it.
    The questions I have are,
    1)  Is it worth getting ARIS or System Architect at this stage only for modelling. If now what are the justifications?
    2) Based on your experience what are the steps involved in evaluating such tools
    3) How hard is it to import those visio drawings into ARIS or System Architect
    Your response is much appreciated
    Thanks
    Hemal

    Hi,
My view (I work as an Enterprise Architect for a very large Resources Company).
Visio is a drawing tool. It produces nice diagrams and drawings which have no real connection with the process objects, or system objects they represent. typically an organisation ends up with 1,000's of these e diagrams which end up all having to be maintained (and usually are not) so quickly end up being largely out of date and useless.
Tools like ARIS and other BPM tools, are purpose built Modelling tools. The Process Models built, and each and every object they are composed of are stored in a single, searchable and reportable object oriented database. Each object (if the tool is implemented correctly) has exactly 1 original keyed by a Globally unique Identifier. Other occurrences or copies of that object can be created that are used in multiple places, in multiple processes. Hence maintenance should be easier. If a change is required to the object, change it in one place only, and its automatically also updated in all the other object copies or occurrences. try that with Visio.
Further, if the models are created using the required and correct notation (for example BPMN or BPEL, then they may be exported into or integrated into application or execution layers that support these notations. Usually this is a part automatic, and part manual process. Hence the BPM models are living representations (not 100% but at least some %) of the running code or processes in your systems.
Eventually the nirvana will be when this model to execution paradigm is 100% automated, for 100% of business processes, across any platform or system architecture required. A good dream eh!
The proviso is that all this is designed, built and governed correctly. Like most things, the idea can be good, but the execution bad.
There are several examples of BPM Modelling tools that are available as free downloads. Savvion, Tibco and Intallio are 3 that come to mind that do this. Perhaps try one or more?
ARIS has the advantage that it is more integrated with SAP than any of the others.
The other think that has influenced us toward ARIS is that SAP now use it internally (so I am told) to define and govern the services that end up in their products. the Process is called PIC (Process Integration Content).
There is a separate thread on it Do SAP Plan to Productise the PIC Internal Process for Customers & ISV's?.
    Hope this helps.

  • JHeadstart, Oracle Business Rules and BPEL Process Manager

    Dear JHeadstart Team,
I have some questions regarding integration of JHeadstart and Oracle Business Rules and Oracle BPEL Process Manager. As a matter of fact I don't have any work expriences with these tools so my questions may not be good and precise.
1- Using a business rule engine can dramatically increase speed of development and ease of maintenance.I had a very good exprience in using JHeadstart and Headstart in the past but I wanted to know if it is possible to use Oracle Business Rules in conjunction with the JHeadstart ? If so, What steps should be taken? Is there any known issue about this integration? Does Oracle Business Rules have any interference with JHeadstart or it is only used in model layer during insert, update, delete?
2- Is it possible to develope a system based on oracle work flow engine (Oracle BPEL Process Manager) using JHeadstart ? If so, What steps should be taken and how the changes in the flow of work would by applyed in a system developed by JHeadstart. Is there any known issue about this integration?
Any help, link to documents or general guidelines would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navid

Couple of things I would like to add, are the following.
In the context of an ADF application usage of Oracle Business Rules most likely is in the business logic layer, but mind that it does not need to be restricted to that.
Oracle Business Rules takes so called 'facts' as input, evaluates some rules based on that and change those facts or return some result. That might be checking a business rule as defined in the JHeadstart Developers Guide. But it might also return some value that is used in a navigation rule.
Think about a page flow where after page A normally page C is presentend, but in case of some situation (like a customer ordered something and you want to present some special offering based on that) you want page B presented in between (i.e. A -> B -> C). Oracle Rules could be used to determine this page flow. This would be an example of using it in the controller layer (probably in combination with using facts that come from the model layer).
Another remark that I would like to make, is that in my opinion it does not make much sense to use Oracle Rules for business rules that logically more or less are part of your data model (like end date must be on or after begin date). You typically use Oracle Rules to implement business rules that are of a volatile nature, meaning that day-to-day business may require a change of the rules. One example is the navigation case that I mentioned before. Another (typical) example would be a rule that defines when a customer is a Gold customer.

  • Oracle BPEL Process Manager- latest API and developer's documentation.

This is regarding Oracle BPEL Process Manager.
I'm planning to integrate the same, for review or prototype purpose, so need to know about the API documentation and developer's guide if available.
The API documentation available seems to be inadequate as it does not document the collaxa APIs (for example) so need to know any documentation available to integrate Oracle BPEL Process Manager as workflow engine.
What I'm looking for is the API documentation, developers guide for integrating Oracle BPEL Process Manager APIs etc.
Developer's guide to manage the development of business process lifecycle of deploying, executing and managing business processes programmatically, using the Oracle BPEL Process Manager, v2.0.11 API Specification.

For the Java API, please take a look at the Java Doc in c:\orabpel\docs. You can also learn about those API by looking at the implementation of the BPEL console (given that the BPEL console is built mostly on the public API of the engine. There are also a few tutorials (02.Invoking A BPEL Process) which highlight how one can invoke a BPEL process through the Java API both locally and remotely).

  • Business process manager using Apex

Has anyone implemented a declarative, generic business process/workflow engine similar to Oracle's BPEL Process Manager using Apex? There are some threads on this forum talking about BPEL's predecessor Oracle Workflow, an open source engine called PL/Flow and the like but they are more than 4 years old. I also see some survey/questionnaire type applications but they don't have process flow, routing, approvals, notifications and all that stuff. Other vendors have similar end-to-end solutions.
    Comments? Thanks

    Hi there,
I've been trying to find more information about the same subject but it does not seems to be a very popular issue, I'm shocked!
I've learned that 10g came with a workflow server buy it's not longer offered in 11g. The reason of course is to sell oracle BPMN/BPEL; unfortunately these tools are way out of my budget, they are good tools but extremely costly.
Therefore, i've done some research about open source alternative that i could merge with apex applications to include routing, approvals via email, notifications, etc. And luckly there are a lot, too many to list, take a look at the link below
    http://java-source.net/open-source/workflow-engines
Let me know if you find osme other alternatives,
    Thanks,

  • Cannot Start EPM Architect Process Manager after a Power Failure

    Hey All,
We had a power failure in the office last night/this morning. We have two environments, and luckily, our production environment seems to be working OK, however, on our development environment, we cannot get the EPM Architect Process Manager to start (or any of the associated services).
Here is what we have tried already:
    - Restarting the server
    - Restarting all services in the correct order
    - Running EPM System Configurator for Performance Management Architect > Configure Database (the first time, we just re-used the same tables, and had the same error. We did it a second time and dropped the tables and were able to get the service (and all other EPMA services) to start, but we couldn't get into the Application or Dimension Library.
    - Restoring the EPMA DB schema from backup from two nights ago - same error when trying to restart the service.
We are running 11.1.1.3 (04 patches for Planning and CalcManager, but not EPMA). We are running MS SQL 2005 for the relational databases.
Error message when restarting the service:
"The Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically..."
When we go to the event viewer, it tells us:

  • Creator in custom field entry point display method - Process Manager

    Hi All,
I'm trying to create a custom field in Process Manager that grabs the creator user id and the current calendar year and displays a table of vacation taken for the year in an entry point. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to grab the creator's uid without using an iProcessInstance object which is not created until the form is submitted.
Does anyone know how I can do it?
Thanks in Advance for your help
    -Dug

    Hi Ghanesh and SRM experts,
I went through your link mentioned below and I have the EXACT same issue. I am using SRM 5.5 and I have added a custom field to the quotation item level. I am unable to make this field editable no matter what I do .
    1)  I have gone through all notes mentioned in your scrap and I have implemented them all .
    2) I have added the custom field to INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF_QUOT and INCL_EEW_PD_ITEM_CSF.
    3) I have also implemented BADI BBP_CUF_BADI_2 and I confirm that the method MODIFY_MODE_QUOT is never getting called. MODIFY_SCREEN is getting called , and the value of the flag ET_FIELDS-XINPUT is always 'X'. Still the quotation field is display only.
Your post is dated a few months back. If you have solved this problem could you please let me know how.
Help from anyone who anything about the above will be appreciated.
    Thank You .

Try replacing the .dll file with the one in your WINDOWS directory. I had that problem and I copied the .dll from C:/WINDOWS/system32 to overwrite the one located in the install directory.
