Implementing UI shell

Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 11g.
I need to create a UI page template that includes some known components as menues and some dynamic components that will be filled at runtime.
In Developer Guide I found a section that deals with these issues: "implementing UI shell and navigator menu UI features".
The problem is that I tried to follow the instructions in the guide and implement them in JDEV 11g but it seems that a lot of things are missing; such as libraries (Aplications core and Applications Core Tag), UI Shell template option (when creating a new JSF page) etc'.
My question is how can I implement the UI shell in JDEv 11g.
Thanks,
Orly

Orly,
It seems you may be an Oracle employee and referring to some internal documents - if so, you should use the internal Oracle forums for this question.
If not, please share the document name and page reference where you are seeing this - I don't see anything resembling this in either the Fusion Developer's Guide or the Web UI Developer's Guide.

  • 32 Bit c\c++ code with 64 bit Windows 2003 exproc

    NOTE - This was posted previously under ther PLSQL forum. If this forum is also incorrect, I apologize - please guide me to the correct location.
    Several years ago we implemented the Shell exproc example ( Metalink Note:136527.1) on our NT server – It uses a snippet of c/c++ code and a free downloadable borland compiler. It turned out to be very handy and we have a lot of packages based on it. We recently migrated to a 64 bit Windows 2003 server where the library fails (ORA-06520) and need to recompile the C/C++ code for a 64 bit platform.
    I have access to Visual Studio 2008, but it has been years since I’ve played with C and I’ve never used Visual C++. Does anyone have the clift notes for recompiling this example for windows 64 bit enivronment using Visual Studio? Is there a better compiler (simpler ide) to be using?

    This is not a SQL or PL/SQL question.
    Please repost in the appropriate forum.
    Thanks.

  • Commn. between iws and clearcase server on 2 different unix boxes

    Hi,
    I have a requirement. I have iplanet web server on one unix server and a clearcase server on other unix server. Both are on solaris platform.
    I need to design a web page such that, on the page users are supooosed to enter some command and that commands must execute on the clearcase server on the other unix server and get the results back to the web page.
    Before executing the command, the user who logs into the web site must be logged on to the local unix machine where iws resides so that user can do a "rsh" on the remote server. Both the unix servers are connected to NIS.
    Can anyone suggest how to implement this using java or perl technology?
    How to implement remote shell using java? how to make the users login to the local unix server during the login itself without user's notice? this login is needed becasue, clearcase server will autheticate this particular user before executing the command and restricts the commands to execute for this user.Hope my requirement is clear to everyone.
    Thanks in advance,
    Murthy

    On what type of server is your domain controller located? You can use Samba to connect Unix and Windows servers and it may be possible to integrate the Windows server into your domain with it, although I am not a Unix expert by any means. Have a look through these.

    Apologies if you are already using Samba.

  • How to run a unix script from oracle warehouse Builder

    Hi,
    can any one share the information about, running the unix script or scripts using oracle warehouse builder.
    Regards,
    Ak

    One way is define a workflow. Inside the workflow you put
    1)an external process that "points to" the shell script and then
    2)put the mapping
    The external process must have the "COMMAND" parameter set to the name of the shell script. If the script has parameters you must put them in the "PARAMETERS LIST" separated by "?" (for example, ?par1?par2).
    The path where OWB executes the external process I think is the ORACLE_HOME of the OWB.
    f you don't use workflow, you can try with this more complex solution. I tried with 9i and OWB 9.2 and it's working well.
    You create an autonomous procedure (within a package or not) :
    CREATE PROCEDURE Extract_Email_List
    DECLARE
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    And use the sys.shell script that you need your dba/unix admin to install first of all, with a call like that.
    sys.shell('sh ' || txt_dir_name || '/send_email_marketing.sh ' || txt_dir_name || ' ' || email_addr );
    Then you import your procedure into OWB and use it in your mapping with the "pre-mapping" icon (you can set parameters for your proc with constants if you want).
    To implement sys.shell, go to metalink and find "Note:168065.1" - "How to call a UNIX shell script from PL/SQL".
    Once it's done once, it's not so bad. But I would still recommend the workflow approach also..
    I hope this helps.

  • [solved]ps -ef|grep pmon ???? Databases not up

    Hi all,
    ps -ef | grep pmon | grep -v grep | tr -s " " |cut -d " " -f8
    This command displaying all the process which contains pmon in it
    ie.,
    ora_pmon_scott2
    ora_pmon_scott3
    ora_pmon_scott5
    I have set a database other than this in my system...they are
    ora_pmon_scott1
    ora_pmon_scott2
    ora_pmon_scott3
    ora_pmon_scott4
    ora_pmon_scott5
    Now My question is
    I want to display below two ...i.e., databases which are not up
    ora_pmon_scott1
    ora_pmon_scott4
    Help me how to do that?
    if this can be implemented with shell script please tell me how to do that?

    Of course you can't use processes to show not running DBs, since processes are not there. You need a list of all DBs, which could be /etc/oratab. If so, then you could create a script like the following :
    echo "Databases not running"
    echo
    grep -v "^#" /etc/oratab | while read LINE
    do
            if [ ! "$LINE" ]; then
                    continue
            fi
            SID=`echo $LINE | cut -f1 -d':'`
            if [ ! "`ps -ef | grep pmon | grep -v grep | grep $SID`" ]; then
                    echo $SID
            fi
    done

  • Piping stderr & stdout to /dev/null

    Hi,
    I've never worked with stderr and stdout before. I have an application that sends an obscene number of messages to the Console log, so implemented the following shell script to launch it in future:
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrb anTerror.ub >> 2&>1 /dev/null
    No further entries appeared in the Console so I thought I was sorted, but then I discovered two files in the root of my Home directory called 1 and 2 respectively, and these contained the log outputs. I thought /dev/null was supposed to be the computer equivalent of "oblivion," so have I implemented the shell script incorrectly?
    Also, can someone further modify my script so that stdout goes to /dev/null and stderr goes to a log file in a location of my choosing?
    Many thanks,
    S.

    The >> should have been next to /dev/null, the & was in the wrong place, and the 2>&1 should follow the >>/dev/null. Understanding the 2>&1 behavior is a bit tricky.
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrbanTerror.ub >/dev/null 2>&1
    You could have also just redirected stdout and stderr separately to /dev/null
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrbanTerror.ub >/dev/null 2>/dev/null
    Also, can someone further modify my script so that stdout goes to /dev/null and stderr goes to a log file in a location of my choosing?
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrbanTerror.ub >/dev/null 2>/location/of/your/choosing/file.log
    This will overwrite file.log every time you invoke the script. Or if you want to append to the file you can use:
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrbanTerror.ub >/dev/null 2>>/location/of/your/choosing/file.log
    Or if you want to use dated log files for each running of the script:
    /Volumes/Storage/Shared/Games/UrbanTerror/ioUrbanTerror.app/Contents/MacOS/ioUrbanTerror.ub >/dev/null 2>/location/of/your/choosing/file.$(date +%Y%m%d%H%M).log

  • Ensuring applications use a Security Manager

    Is it possible to enable the use of a security manager by default for Java applications?
    I understand that I can enable a security manager by using the -Djava.security.manager command-line option to java and javaw. But to utilise that I need to modify all scripts that call java/javaw, and I need to remember to include it when running all future java applications I acquire.
    These are the possibilities I've looked at:
    1. A configuration file that stores default options to those commands (similar to the ide.cfg in Netbeans). To my knowledge this feature doesn't exist.
    2. A configuration file for specifying default system properties (the -D prefix indicates it's a system property to be passed to the VM). Again, to my knowledge such a feature doesn't exist.
    3. An option in the ${java.home}/lib/java.security "master security properties file" which forces security managers by default. I couldn't find any such option. In fact, I couldn't find any solid documentation about this master security properties file on the Java web site. (The only information I found was about the JAAS extensions to this file).
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    There are two further options I would like to try, but they are nontrivial.
    A. Move to a Unix-based platform where the java/javaw commands are likely to be implemented as shell scripts to which the default options can readily by added. Or if they are not can be seemlessly replaced with a shell script. (I would really like to do this, I've tried to make the switch thrice in the past but have so far encountered difficulties).
    B. Build new java.exe and javaw.exe executables that invoke the originals (perhaps renamed to java-unsafe.exe) with the required default options (perhaps even reading the options from a text file a la Netbeans).
    Thanks in advance. Hopefully there is something obvious I've overlooked that does this.
    P.-S. I notice another poster raised this issue last year, but it received no replies. That post can be found here:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=61&thread=301657

    For those following this thread I've managed to make one step towards ensuring that no Java code is run locally without a Security Manager.
    It's an OS-level solution protecting against code run by double-clicking a jar file. (Admittedly this is not something I do often, but it's a start).
    The OS is Windows 2000 Professional. To add this protection, I performed the following steps.
    1. Choose the 'Tools'|'Folder Options...' menu item from within Windows Explorer.
    2. Within the 'File Types' tab, select the 'JAR' extension and click 'Advanced'.
    3. Click 'New...'.
    4. Type something like 'run with manager' in the 'Action' field. Type cmd.exe /c "java.exe -Djava.security.manager -jar "%1" %* & pause.exe" in the other field. Click OK.
    5. Ensure that this 'run with manager' action is the default. (I believe that the 'Set Default' button is supposed to do this. It did not do so for me. On my setup the default action was always the action with the earliest alphabetically-listed name.)

  • Implementing Windows API Shell Execute call

    I am trying to implement the Windows API call in LabVIEW named ShellExecute.  I have created the attached VI and I do not understand why it will not run correctly.  I am hoping that a user on the forum will see the problem and be able to suggest what is wrong.  Thank you for any help!

    Remove the quotation marks from the list of strings for your commands and it will work.
    You also don't need them for the path, but there they don't seem to make a difference.
    Also, instead of using a multi-line string, you can use a property node to get the string values of the ring and index array to pick the right string.
    Try to take over the world!

  • Lscd - simple ranger implementation in POSIX shell

    I've been casually working on a file browser that has a similar interface like ranger, but takes a different approach, in that it is written in bash POSIX shell.
    I wanted to combine the elegance, portability and simplicity of a short bash shell script with the ability to get me whereever I want ASAP without the "cd TAB TAB TAB" boilerplate.  Additionally, it can use ranger's file opener "rifle" to execute files just the way ranger does.
    I'm not finished yet, but there is a working alpha version at github:
    https://github.com/hut/lscd
    It uses the basic h/j/k/l vim type movement control keys. Check the source for more key bindings, it makes no sense to write a complete list at this stage of development.
    And the obligatory screen shot:
    As you can see, there are no miller columns like in ranger. That may or may not change in the future. I suspect it would be too slow in shell script.
    Pro tip: if you run lscd with the command ". lscd", it will run in the current bash environment, rather than in a new one. Only this way the directory will actually change after you close lscd.

    Really cool.
    falconindy wrote:Aliasing ls will break (e.g. alias ls='ls --color') this. You shouldn't be using ls at all, but rather glob expansion....
    In case you source it it will use the alias/function, so indeed, be careful with that.
    Here's a template I always use for adding cursor movement:
    (starting with line 147)
    (adjust to posix shell yourself)
    (the -t 0.01 newinput is "beatable" like if you hold the cursor newinput will get larger. That's why there's a "$newinput" =~ [~A-Da-d] for cursor keys and shift+cursor keys)
    read -n 1 -s input
    if [[ "$input" == $'\e' ]]; then
    input=ESC
    while true; do
    read -n 1 -s -t 0.01 newinput < /dev/tty
    [[ "$newinput" == $'\e' ]] && newinput=ESC
    input=${input}${newinput}
    [[ -z "$newinput" || "$newinput" =~ [~A-Da-d] ]] && break
    done
    fi
    case "$input" in
    'ESC[A') "code for up, etc"

    the code i used is:
    create or replace procedure host( cmd in varchar2 ) as
    status number;
    begin
    dbms_pipe.pack_message( cmd );
    status := dbms_pipe.send_message( 'HOST_PIPE' );
    if ( status <> 0 ) then
         raise_application_error( -20001, 'Pipe error' );
    end if;
    end host;
    I've granted the privileges to run dbms_pipe, BUT when i try to use it, it gets stuck while trying to run :
    exec host('ls -l')
    it doesn't respond....
    then i tryed the part where it uses a shell to see what the procedure is doing, the code is:
    #!/bin/csh -f
    sqlplus tkyte/tkyte <<"EOF" | grep '^#' | sed 's/^.//' > tmp.csh
    set serveroutput on
    declare
    status number;
    command varchar2(255);
    begin
    status := dbms_pipe.receive_message( 'HOST_PIPE' );
    if ( status <> 0 ) then
    dbms_output.put_line( '#exit' );
    else
    dbms_pipe.unpack_message( command );
    dbms_output.put_line( '##!/bin/csh -f' );
    dbms_output.put_line( '#' || command );
    dbms_output.put_line( '#exec host.csh' );
    end if;
    end;
    spool off
    "EOF"
    chmod +x tmp.csh
    exec tmp.csh
    I supose it runs ok, becouse it creates a file named tmp.sch, but i can't really be sure becouse the previous part can't be done.
    another question is that what does tom mean when he says "running this in the background", do i have to do it o does it do it itself.
    what i need to do with this is send a file trough ftp, i've been using this shell named A-ftp.txt:
    ftp -v -n 10.128.0.89 << EOF
    user username password
    bin
    put "$1"
    bye
    EOF
    where $1 is the name of the file. so when i try it trough my procedure it would be:
    exec host('A-ftp.txt name-of-file')
    but it olso gets stuck. I need this urgent!!!! what is the problem??? is there another solution to my problem?? is dbms_pipe the only way???
    the code is the same as in the web page were i retrieved it, so i need to be given instructions in what to change and what to leave it as it is.

  • Run shell commands using java program

    Hi guys,
    I am trying to run shell commands like cd /something and ./command with arguments as follows, but getting an exception that ./command not found.Instead of changing directory using "cd" command I am passing directory as an argument in rt,exec().
    String []cmd={"./command","arg1", "arg2", "arg3"};
    File file= new File("/path");
    try{

    proc.waitFor();
    System.out.println(proc.exitValue())
    BufferedReader buf = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(proc.getInputStream()));

    So can anyone please tell me what is wrong with this approach? or is there any better way to do this?
    Thanks,

    What gives you the idea that the process to execute is called "./command"? If this is in Windows, it is "cmd.exe" for example.It does not have to be cmd.exe in Windows. Any executable or .bat file can be executed as long as one either specifies the full path or the executable is in a directory that is in the PATH.
    On *nix the file has to have the executable bit set and one either specifies the full path or the executable must be in a directory that is in the PATH . If the executable is a script then if there is a hash-bang (#!) at the start of the first line then the rest of the line is taken as the interpreter  to use. For example #!/bin/bash or #!/usr/bin/perl .
    One both window and *nix one can exec() an interpreter directly and then pass the commands into the process stdin. The advantage of doing this is that one can change the environment in one line and it  remains in effect for subsequent line. A simple example of this for bash on Linux is
    import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
    import java.io.Writer;
    public class ExecInputThroughStdin
        public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
            final Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("bash");
            new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getErrorStream(), System.err)).start();
            new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getInputStream(), System.out)).start();
            final Writer stdin = new OutputStreamWriter(process.getOutputStream());
            stdin.write("xemacs&\n");
            stdin.write("cd ~/work\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("ls\n");
            stdin.write("gobbldygook\n"); // Forces output to stderr
            stdin.write("echo $PATH\n");
            stdin.write("pwd\n");
            stdin.write("df -k\n");
            stdin.write("ifconfig\n");
            stdin.write("echo $CWD\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("cd ~/work/jlib\n");
            stdin.write("dir\n");
            stdin.write("cat /etc/bash.bashrc\n");
            stdin.close();
            final int exitVal = process.waitFor();
            System.out.println("Exit value: " + exitVal);
    }One can use the same approach with Windows using cmd.exe but then one must be aware of the syntactic differences between commands running in .bat file and command run from the command line. Reading 'help cmd' s essential here.
    The class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable in the above example just copies an InputStream to an OutputStream and I use
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import java.io.OutputStream;
    public class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable implements Runnable
        public PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(InputStream is, OutputStream os)
            is_ = is;
            os_ = os;
        public void run()
            try
                final byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
                for (int count = 0; (count = is_.read(buffer)) >= 0;)
                    os_.write(buffer, 0, count);
            } catch (IOException e)
                e.printStackTrace();
        private final InputStream is_;
        private final OutputStream os_;
    }

    If by "execute shell commands" you mean actually
    running a shell process (as opposed to just forking
    and executing specified programs) then I'd advise
    against it. The last thing you want is for the
    clients to be running arbitrary commands on the
    server. You don't want to make it possible for the
    client to run "rm -fr /" on your server.Right.
    I was assuming (perhaps with more optimism than is really warranted) that the OP was going to be in complete control of which commands were executed--that there'd be a small, fixed set in response to certain user actions.

  • Gnome-shell crashes with my new video card (nvidia 450 GTS)

    Trying to use nouveau w/ gnome-shell and a new 450 GTS.  Firstly, gnome-shell enters fallback mode upon login.  Secondly, whenever I try to open a shell or a program such as firefox, gnome fallback mode crashes me back to gdm.  I'm not sure what to post log-wise.

    @sir - Works fine with proprietary driver.  Power supply is plenty large for this card.  It works fine under xfce.  The only features for the NVC0 series (this is an NVC3) that isn't the same as the others is "decode videos" which I took to mean VDPAU.  All other relevant features are the same as the NV50 series.

  • Rendering bugs on xf86-video-ati on GNOME Shell

    Hi guys. I have a problem with graphics rendering on Arch i686 installed on a bootable USB stick. To handle multiple devices I did pacman -S xorg-drivers. Unfortunately when I log in to GDM/GNOME shell the screen is full of artifacts - several icons are just invisible and rectangular parts of page in Chromium are black, gnome-shell controls blink and so on.
    I did not test other display managers/desktop environments. xf86-video-ati works fine for me on 64bit Arch installed on the HDD.

    You don't need "radeon" in MODULES, and neither the Module section in xorg.conf, nor the DRI one.
    yeap, removing 'radeon' from 'MODULES=' seems to of loaded the driver in the right order and made DRI work,
    thank you.
