I want to import a video player made in flash cs4 into flash builder 4. Are there any pitfalls that i should be aware of?

Hi, your video file needs to be converted to eg. a .mov or .mp4 file before iMovie will recognise. I use 4Media MP4 converter and it works excellent.
For the rotating I do not have an answer, but if you would manege you would end up with a very narrow image either way.

Embed flash movie into flash site

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere i searched around a while and couldn't find a solution.
Basically i have these buttons that I want to link to a movie that would come up in a popup window that has the controller options- to stop play, fastforward, etc. I made one already using flash CS4 and exported it to a .swf file. how do i link the button to the .swf file to open a pop up window- where i can control the size of the pop up window? also- when i upload the .swf file do i need to upload the encoded .f4v video to my server too? I'm open to a completely different way of doing this as well!! any help is appreciated

Hi thanks for the reply. i had looked through this link before. the problem is I am not trying to a website to open in the popup window. I want to open a .swf file in a popup window....any other suggestions?
also- i imported a .f4v movie to flash cs4- chose one of their skins and exported is as my .swf file. will this work?

Textfield bug in Flash CS4 and Flash Player?

Hi there,
I'm goning mad about this, hope someone can help. What's the problem..
I have a textfield on the stage (100% view). When I place a vertcal line at the end of the text and I zoom in to 200% the text in the textfield is somehow smaller!
How is this possible???
This problem doesn't only occur in Flash Pro but also in the Flash player in the browser.
I tested this with Flash Pro on my Macbook Pro, and on serveral browsers (mac and windows). All the same zoom problems.

In this example you can zoom in from the flash context menu and you will see the problem.
It looks like this strange zoom in 'bug' only occurs with textfields. Not with other elements on the stage.
Am I doing something wrong here?
I noticed this when I tested for a collision between a dynamic textfield and an object. On screen I saw the text overlap the object so there must be a collision. But there wasn't. After a zoom in in I saw a different thing. The text didn't overlap the object!! After a zoom out the text overlapped the object again.
Very weird!

I found it!
I never thought that this would solve my problem but here it comes..
I used this setting for my textfield: AntiAliasType.ADVANCED.
I must say that it looks great on screen, but that generates my problem when zooming in and test on collision.
When I changed this setting to AntiAliasType.NORMAL it all works like it should be. The text looks less nice but I can live with that..
Very strange.. but solved Hope this can help someone else. Still think that this is a bug

I've actually downloaded and installed ffmpeg but the problem I'm experiencing now is that the videos do not convert. The program starts to work and then three seconds later I get the dialog box that says everything has been converted but the file created is 0KB and of course will not open.
Any ideas about what could be going wrong? I've attempted to convert the files to different formats and try converting different files as well. I still have the problem.
BTW, I'm just using iMovie to collect all my real videos together so that I can watch them as a DVD (for convenience). That's all.

Importing Flash buttons into Flash

I've created a nice button as a movie clip in Flash 10 CS4
Actionscript 3 so that the button changes with mouse_over and it
all works fine, both with Test Movie and separately playing the swf
file. The problem is I want to use this button in a variety of
Flash applications. I thought all I would have to do was to export
the button as swf and then import it into the new Flash program as
a button symbol and add the ActionScript code for mouse_click etc.
I didn't expect to be able to edit the button in the new program,
but I thought it would run OK. What happens is that the button
appears, but all the movie clip behaviour is missing -- it's just a
static object that doesn't respond to mouse_over. I've tried
importing it as a button and as a movie clip -- neither works.
Given my primitive experience of ActionScript and Flash, the only
work around I can think of is to put all the ActionScript code for
the button in each application. This will be a big task, as various
layers and scripts are involved.
There must be something simple that I am missing, but I can't
seems to find this problem addressed anywhere. Most people seem to
want to use their Flash buttons in non-Flash applications like html
web pages. Help, please, from someone who can make Flash sing and
dance (or at least more than I can) ...

You can copy and paste any item in the Library of one movie
to the Library of a second movie. If you do that, you can get the
button into your new movie. You will still need to bring the
actionscript over from one movie to the other. You can do this in a
similar copy and paste manner.

Importing Flash MovieClips into Flash

When I import a SWF (a published flash project), I seem to
have an issue with the fat that all of the internal ActionScripts
which are part of the imported file just dont seem to run. I was
hoping to have the Movie Run as its own instance while the
application does what is suppose 2.
Is it suppose to strip all the ActionScript stuff? If so, can
I not explicity ask it not too?

It doesn't strip out the AS, but depending no how the AS is
written, it may not run properly. Usually, its a scoping issue. For
instance, if the original SWF has a reference to _root, that
reference means something different once its brought into your
wrapper SWF. Probably need to go back to the original FLA (and the
original developer) to fix it.

Downgrading from Flash CS4 to Flash CS3 possible?

Hi, I have just bought the whole Creative Suite 4 Master Collection as I need most of the programs as a freelancer. Now I have just the task to debug a Flash CS3 project, but somehow it is definitely not possible to compile the main fla with CS4. Thus I would like to "downgrade" Flash to CS3. Is this possible?

No, I have just bought CS4 and used Flash 8 and the Flash CS3 trial before. I still have the trial installation on my system, but it has expired since quite a while.
Is there not any chance to acquire a Flash CS3 Serial number somehow? I urgently need it, since the project I'm working on actually cannot be compiled using CS4 though it should, regarding the amount of money I spend on this software...
P.S. I will NOT buy a second license of the old Flash, just for that purpose! Are you kidding me?

Swf from flash cs4 into dreamweaver cs4

I don't know why this is so difficult, but I'm unable to embed a swf generated in flash into a dreamweaver template. I can finally create a few basic animations and want to test them out in the dreamweaver envoirment. What is the simplest path to accomplishing this? For example if I open flash, create a simple animation, like a ball moving across the screen. If I save that SWF, what's the next step after opening dreamweaver. I just want to be able to test it the site with dreamweaver or see it "live". Thanks in advance.

From flash develop into flash builder?

Recently, I'm trying to use flashbuilder as the editor to associate with augmented reality. I'm useing in2ar sdk to compile the ar function. In the official in2ar tutorial they used flash develop as a example. However, when I import the sdk to the flash builder and try to run the example, it just samplely not working. In the console window, it just show [SWF] with the path of Main.swf - 1.285 bytes after decompression. Anyone know what wrong with this? The sdk and example works perfect in flash develop.

How do I insert Flash Gallery into Flash page?

Hi, I've created my own web page in Flash (Dreamweaver front) with Flash elements in a separate swf file. I want to create a gallery only on the front page of my site but I'm not sure if I can create new and insert on the page, or if need to create a new swf file on the timeline - not sure how to do this and not mess up my site? Any help?

Create an empty movieclip symbol in the main file and palce it on the stage exactly where you want the top left corner of the gallery to be. Assign an instance name to that movieclip.
Then use the loadMovie or MovieClipLoader.loadClip functions to load the swf file into that movieclip. If you need to somehow control the gallery via the main file, then you would be better off using the loadClip approach because it supports having an event listener to be bale to tell when the file is loaded.
You should be able to find an example in the Help documentation of using the loadMovie function for loading it into the empty movieclip I said to add earlier.
If your gallery uses _root references in its code, you will probably have to add " this.lockRoot = true; " to the main timeline of the gallery file. Otherwise, those references will be targeting the main file it is loading into.

Placing a Photoshop graphic in Flash CS4

I'm trying to add a graphic I made in Photoshop CS4 into Flash CS4 without adding the background with it. When I transfer the graphic is comes with a white background. How do I change that and which program do I use to change it?

Flash CS4 Video Poorer Quality Than Flash 8

I've upgraded to Flash CS4 from Flash 8 Pro and find the quality of the FLV video is noticeably poorer now for the same Adobe Media Encoder settings. In addition, the video encoded using CS4 won't play on my web server. If I export from Premier Pro to AVI and then convert to Flash using my older Flash 8 the quality is good and it plays fine on my website.
There is something strange about the FLV and SWF files created by CS4. The system that is running Flash 8 (WinXP 32bit) cannot play the CS4 created FLV files from the desktop even though they are supposed to be Flash 8 or later compatible. The system that has CS4 installed (Vista 64bit) can play both version of FLV.
It appears that the FLV created by AME is not really Flash 8 compatible. Perhaps this is connected in some way to the poorer quality I'm getting
Any help appreciated. I do need to solve this before my XP/Flash 8 system goes away.

It has always been this way, even in the Macromedia days. Older versions of Flash cannot open (or play, as you like it) content made in the newer versions. The .fla files are totally different. I suppose this goes too for the video encoded by different versions of Flash.
I wouldn't advise you to get rid of your old system. You may need it ....
