Import Albums to MacBook

I just bought a new MacBook and wanted to move an album from my PowerBook to iPhoto on the MacBook. How can I do this preserving the photo comments and ratings?? Thanks for the help.

Jason:
The only way that can be accomplished is with iPhoto Library Manager. If there are more than 20 photos in the photo album you'll have to purchase the full application. You'll be able to copy photos, albums and rolls between libraries while keeping keywords, comments, etc., intact.

  • How to find a selection of photos taken at different dates but imported together. I want them in the same album but they're no longer in the "last import" album.

I imported a bunch of photos taken at different dates that i wanted to group together in the same album but they are not in the "last import" album and are all just mixed in with "all photos" according to the dates they were taken and it's impossible to sift through them all to select the ones i wanted.

Sorry I'm terrible at explaining and even using my macbook haha. Let me try again. I imported some photos that I wanted to group together into an album. I forgot to create the album before importing a new set of photos which then took the place of the previous ones in the "last import" album. Is there anywhere or any way I can easily find the selection of photos I forgot to put into an album together without having to select them one by one from the "all photos" section? These would be the only pictures in my Photos application that haven't been organized into an album yet if that helps; however, these photos were not taken on the same date.

  • Aperture fails to import albums from iPhoto

I have been using the combination iPhoto/Photoshop for many years. For some time I have considered either Aperture of Lightroom. With the chopped price and supposedly improved interface with the new version, I decided to buy it today. So far it looks like a big mistake! One major reason for choosing Aperture rather than Lightroom was Apertures's advertised smooth import of the iPhoto library, and to import albums in iPhoto. I have spent a lot of time over several years to find a good system of album organization in iPhoto. It was consequently a big disappointment to discover that Aperture failed to import most of my some 30 albums and my slideshows from iPhoto. I have searched both the manual and help to find out how I can get my album organization of some 20 000 pictures into Aperture, but so far without success. Can anyone give me a clue. Both regular albums as well as smart albums are missing. I cannot figure out how I so totally have misunderstood what Aperture is capable of.

There is always local issues involved. No two Macs are alike. Different files, temporary files, plug-ins etc. can and do cause problems. When software updates and upgrades are created, the developer, in this case Apple, need to test the software in different environments. Developers are pushed by steadily shorter deadlines, at the same time applications are also steadily becoming more complex. When I am critical to Apple, it is because there are only Apple applications involved in my case, on a brand new (2 weeks old newest version of MacBook Pro), and the very same issue has happened to too many others. Just take a look at Apple discussions. I have used iPhoto since it was launched the first time, and I have only experienced problems a couple of times before. I am not saying that the problem is iPhoto or Aperture alone, it is the two of them which do not handle the integration. Keep in mind also that most Aperture users are different than the average Mac user in that they work a lot with photo files. This is the environment that Apple has to take into account when launching upgrades and updates.

  • How do I import photos from macbook to iPad2 for editing in apps?

I don't have iPhoto on my iPad as it sounds so unstable from the reviews...how else to import pix from macbook to iPad 2?

It's fine that you don't have iPhoto on your iPad ... but you should certainly use iPhoto on your Mac to do the importing.  Set your photos up in iPhoto on the Mac in events or albums, then, when you sync your iPad, you can input your sync instructions into iTunes on your Mac about which events or albums you wish to sync.
Of course, make sure your Mac software is up to date (iTunes 11.0.1, iPhoto 9.4.2).
Those sync instructions are input via iTunes while your iPad is syncing using iTunes' "Photo" tab.

  • Transfer Pictures from Imported Album to Camera Roll

How much ever i search the net i havent found an answer for this problem. I seem to fall in to a vicious cycle of coming back to square one. Please help me with the following question please.
1). I am using ipad with camera connection kit for transferring pictures to my ipad.
    2) i have dropbox and MSN Onedrive for storing pictures.
    3) both dropbox and onedrive sync pictures only from camera roll ignoring the other pictures which are vital too.
    4) all the wifi transfer photosync and a core or free aps available in the appstore ddint solve my problem.
Is there a way to transfer the pics to camera roll without going through a tedious process? Why cant there be a simpler solution?
Only when i transferthe pics to camera roll that i can sync them wi either dropbox or onedrive.
    PLEASE SUGGEST AN IDEA
    thank you in advance.

While using Camera Connection Kit to transfer pictures from Memory Card to Ipad the pictures in the memory card gets saved to a separate folder called "Imported Pictures" instead of saving to Camera Roll of Ipad which is the default sync folder for dropbox and onedrive. Its not possible to move the imported album pictures to Camera Roll that easily or very simply. The process is complicated or requires a paid application. My question is whether the pics can be directly saved to camera roll or is there a way to move at a bulk all the pics from imported album to camera roll so that the sync with dropbox and onedrive is easier and simpler.
    Thank you

  • Multiple empty Last Import albums in iPad Photos

I use the camera connection kit to pull photos from an SD card into my iPad 2. This has worked perfectly for about half a year. Recently after importing, I noticed that instead of a single "Last Import" album in the Photos app on the iPad, there were several. One contained the photos just imported, the rest were empty.
They can't be selected for deletion straight out of the iPad through the edit option, seemingly since I didn't create them but the system did.
I pulled all the photos off the iPad. The empty albums remain.
Bringing in new photos from an SD card creates another album. That ones goes away when the pictures in it are deleted/imported, while the empty ones remain.
I deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" from the hard drive that the iPad syncs its photos to. And even stopped having iTunes sync any photos to the iPad.
I'm still left staring at 14 Last Import albums.
This seems to have occurred since upgrading to iOS 5.1. I am not using iCloud to sync photos.
Now I've got my iPad 3 and have restored it from the backup of my iPad 2 and now the empty albums are on it too.
I've tried everything I can think of. I've only seen one other discussion here and its hard to believe this has only happened to so few users.
Other suggestions? Does Apple have a fix or workaround?

  • TS1501 transferring a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro (this way you can upload one album at a time, file them into a new album on macbook pro)  Pls. advise.

How can I transfer a small batch of photos from the new ipad to macbook pro?  In theory, I should be able to keep my albums together this way (once uploaded to macbook pro, i can easily file them into a new album on macbook pro.)  Not working for me!  Macbook pro does include iphoto.  I had no problem uploading ALL photos (3 or 4,000.)  Help!  Goal is to keep albums together.

    Hi all,
    Goal:  Backing up photos!
Hope:  Transfer ALBUMS from ipad to external drive (via macbook pro)
Is this possible?  Or will I have to create a file name for each of my thousands of photos?
    UGH!
    HELP!

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing "Get Info" from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

  • We are having old home movies put on DVD's. How do we import them to MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard and iMovie 8.0.6.  Can watch the video, but can't get it to import.

We are having old home movies put on DVD's. How do we import them to MacBook pro using Snow Leopard and iMovie 8.0.6?  Can watch the movies on the laptop, but they will not import.

We took 3 video cassette 8mm that were recorded in the early 90's to a place that burned the videos onto 3 DVDs.  When inserted to our Mac, the DVD player comes on to play the DVD. Opened Quicktime, but can find no way to import. Went to File>Open File>Sony_DVD_Recorder_Volume. Clicked on Sony_DVD-Recorder_Volume and it shows a file named VIDEO_TS.  Clicked on that and 6 files showed VIDEO_TS.BUP,   VTS_01-0.BUP,   VTS_01_0.IFO,  VTS-01_1.VOB,   VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB.  Where is DVDxDV?

  • How to delete empty Last Import albums on Ipad2

This is both a question and a partial solution to anyone who has found empty Last Import albums on their Ipad2 after upgrading to IOS 5.1.  I ended up with three Last Import albums on my Ipad under the Photos App after the upgrade to 5.1 and Iphoto app.
I could not delete them no matter what I tried.  Even turned off Photo sync in Itunes and had it remove all photos from the Ipad and the empty folders are still there.
I ended up trying a round about way of getting rid of the empties.  I reasoned that the Camera Connection kit had created this mess and maybe it could fix it.
Solution:   (Only practical with a few empty folders)
Shoot some photos with a digital camera using a SD card.
Put the SD Card in the Camera Connection Kit and connect to the Ipad.  Import the images but keep them on the card.
Disconnect the CCK and hook up to your Mac with Iphoto running. Import the images and delete from the Ipad when asked.
    Delete photos from Iphoto.
Repeat several times and you should notice that each time one more Last Import album vanishes from the Ipad.
Hope this helps someone else with this problem and Apple comes out with a better solution to this.

I found a solution! I added a comment over on the shimworld blog (http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2011/11/02/how-to-remove-empty-photo-import-event s-on-your-ipad-2/#comment-18392), I'll repost it here:
I ran into this same issue on my new iPad(3rd gen) after upgrading from iPad 2, I had a few hundred empty events(it took at least 30s of scrolling as fast as I could to reach the bottom). I use the camera connection kit as well as the EyeFI app to import photos constantly so it was a bit of a mess. I’m doing a road trip to SF area soon and needed space for new photos so I need to figure something out. After a bunch of digging around on the internet and looking into tools from my earlier jailbreaking days, I found a solution to do a full reset on the Photos.app. This does NOT require a jailbreak!
First I imported all photos to my mac using Image Capture. Then I turned off iCloud’s PhotoStream, turned off photo syncing in iTunes and let a the iPad do a full sync and backup. Next I ran DiskAid and deleted the photo related folders under the File System -> Media area(see below). This removed EVERYTHING from the Photos.app. Then I rebooted the iPad. The Photos.app was empty just like on a new device! I snapped a couple pics with the camera and it created the camera roll, I turned PhotoStream back on, synced some photos from iTunes. Everything seems to be working great now, just like new!
BEWARE: THIS WILL DELETE ALL PHOTOS STORED ON YOUR DEVICE in Photos.app!!! MAKE A BACKUP!!!!
Connect iOS device with USB and fire up DiskAid. In DiskAid click File System, then click Media. READ WARNING and accept.
    Delete these folders:
PhotoData (this has all the photos, database, etc synced from iTunes)
DCIM (this is the camera roll)
Photos (I think this is just the data to determine which iTunes library its synced with)
    PhotoStreamsData (iCloud Photo Stream data)
Reboot iPad(probably not required but doesn’t hurt)
    Enjoy a fully reset Photos.app!
DiskAid: I used v5.12 on my Mac Mini(10.7.3)

  • How can I stop iPhoto from trying to import albums from MoblieMe?

Since 1 July iPhoto tries to import albums from MobileMe upon each start-up. I never created any album in MobileMe so the attempt to imort fails. I can then only click 'Retry' or 'Remind me later'. There is no option to tell iPhoto to not import any album.
Any idea how to get out of this loop?

Close iTunes before switching profiles or disable fast user switching.

  • Photo library shows multiple "Last Import" albums after upgrade

Following my upgrade to IOS6, the photo library now shows 3 blank Last Import albums, the ones created when you use the camera import connector. I tried to reset photo syncs to correct the problem, but they still remain.
Having imported an event, one of the 3 Last Import albums is now populated with pictures. The issue remains that there is the clutter of the two blank ones which seem to linger and probably will always be there unless there is some way to reset this.
So the question is, has anyone else seen this issue and how can it be corrected. I have not seen any other similar postings on this problem.

And then I finally located the answer and although a bit of a pain, this corrected the problem.

Yes.  Matching Songs in Vinyl Albums is possible, usually though with a success rate of 20 - 40%.
Even with great care taken to improve the quality of the recording, the outcome is mixed.
