Import all files at once?

Can you import multiple files at once so they encode at once, opposed to individually?
Or, can you import one large timeline (all your files combined on one timeline) and then set up the dvd to access your footage as you want. Opposed to bringing in new files for each part of your dvd (film, extras, trailers, etc)?

Jbowden,
I tried to export my project using MPEG-2 DVD and got the following error message:
After Effects: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin: Transcoding cannot progress due to one or more video parameters set incorrectly (error code= 0x203c). Please recheck the settings and try again.
MediaI02: exc00b002
(5027::12)
After Effects: AEGP Plugin Media: IOPlugin: unrecognized Exception.
I'm not sure what this means, or how to fix it. I chose lossless:MPEG-2 DVD, and Best Settings on export. Any clue?
Thx!

  • IPhoto won't import all photos at once

I just got iPhoto 08 and also got a new camera. The iPhoto will not import all the photos from the camera (more than 100), but will importa a few selected, seems to accept about 5-6 max. Also, after doing that a couple of times, it won't import any more. It seems that if I start all over, unmount the camera and start all over, it will again allow me to import a few more photos. I still have 96 more to go. This is just awful. With the old iPhoto and the old camera, it was just so easy to import all the photos from my camera at once. I have over 5000 photos on the computer. I am really frustrated. I did not see this question addressed on the discussion board, and I'm wondering what I should do. The camera is a Sony Cybershot DSC-W80.

    Lisa C:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I don't know of a solution but as a workaround you can use Image Capture, its preferences set which application to open when a camera is connected, to upload to a folder on the Desktop and then import the folder. If you title the folder as you want the Event to be titled it will create the Event with that name.
I use a card reader to do the same as it will save the camera's ports and battery and avoid possible upload aborts due to low battery and large number of photos to upload.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Sidecar .xmp files ignored when importing all files from a card

    Hello,
I've noticed what I think is a bug. This is my workflow:
    * I shoot pictures as Raw (in .nef format)
    * I run a program on them to add sidecar .xmp files with some GPS metadata
    * When I import the .net into lightroom I click on "import" on the left panel.
    * The import dialog box shows up, with 2 choices : import all pictures from card / select which images to import
    1) If I choose to manually select the files to import, the XMP metadata are successfuly taken into account (I choose to convert the NEF to DNG and the GPS data are well imported)
    2) But if I choose "import all pictures from card", the GPS metadata are ignored.
    Can you advise, please?
    Thanks!

Are the XMP sidecars actually on the card?

  • ITunes doesn't import all files from xml library

Hi, yesterday I did some changes on mi library. I have 3.000 music files and i didn't want to change the files path manually, so I edited the .xml file, damaget .itl and tried to reimport. It worked, but iTunes didnť import all of my songs, just few of them (about 82) and I don't know how.
The problem is, that I have backup, backup of original iTunes library, but files are not in "old locations", i moved them to new folder and deleted the old - when I tried to fetch missing files in iTunes, it didn't find anything and i had to search it manually.
    Can someone help me? Thanks!

    Restore your pre-damaged .itl file.
Select an album's worth of tracks.
Run my script FindTracks and point it at the new media folder.
If it works, select the whole library and repair the rest.
If it doesn't work explain further about what you've reorganized.

  • Import from SD card on X-fi imports all files, but doesn't let me see them.

The Import feature has been very handy this Christmas. I was able to take my wife's sisters SD card and make a copy onto my Zen X-Fi and later copy the photos onto my computer.
What was odd was that when I was exploring the device, I noticed another folder full of music and videos from when I tried to import them from a SD card.
The Import All option seems to copy everything from the SD card, but will only let you look at the pictures that were imported.
This seems like a really odd behavior to have the import all function just use up the storage space and not let the user play the imported videos or mp3 files.

Download and install VLC. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html and get rid of DivX.

  • Help! - iTunes library won't import all files

I just bought my iPod nano 3 days ago Itunes installed fine. I have a LARGE mp3 collection (around 2800 songs). When I drag the top level folder for the entire collection to the library in the source window iTunes begins to import all of the tracks, some of which have to be converted. This all appears to work fine but when the import is done, I am missing TONS of tracks from my collection. Full albums are no longer full, etc. Has anyone experienced this or something related? Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Andy

You said 2800, it can only hold 500 or 1000 depending on your model

  • LR4 Import won't import all files from a folder

Have just installed Windows LR4 trial, told it to Import files from my photo collection in a folder + subfolders on a network attached storage (NAS) unit. Windows Explorer tells me that there are 10,308 files in 408 folders in the main folder, totalling 38.8gb but on scanning the folder prior to import LR4 tells me that there are only 9,612 photos.
My photo collection folder contains only photos and no other file types.
Why is there this discrepancy ? I've searched around to see whether there is some hidden filter that is excluding certain photo files but cannot find anything of that nature.

Thanks again for this lead. After initially getting nowhere with it it, and after investing a lot of time, it turned out that I was getting nowhere because Windows Explorer wasn't revealing all the files in the Photo folder of my network drive (despite my going through all the settings to Reveal Hidden Files, etc). When, in the search for the "missing" 600+ files that LR didn't find, I trawled the Photo folder with WinDirStat instead of Windows Explorer it revealed 167 files with the suffix .xmp and 369 files with the suffix.db (plus a smaller number of .bmp .jpeg, .pia, etc.). I don't know what the .db files are (possibly debris from previous photo indexing software) but presume that LR doesn't need them.. The .xmp files, I see, are an Adobe format and I don't know (yet; I'm reading the manual) whether LR uses them.
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • LR5 won't import all files in a folder

I'm trying to import files into a new LR5 catalog but it will only import some of them. The files are all jpg format. I've tried copying the files to another volume with the same result. About 70 of 79 or 150 of 219 files will be cataloged. The library matrix will have placeholders for all the files but only some will be previewed and only those previewed will be imaged.
Am I missing a preference setting?

  • Can't import all files in library

Hi, I've just installed iTunes 5.0.1.4 and can´t import my whole music library into the program. When I go to Files-import it looks up .txt files and when I try to add folders it does no add them all.
    Thank you.

I've had the same problem (posted a message in this discussion board earlier), only I've used the "file copy" and "folder copy" features. Several of my songs (unprotected mp3 files) won't copy, even if I specifically select that song. Anybody have any idea what's going on/how to fix it? Also, any idea why iTunes will create duplicate files out of nowhere?

  • Aperture does not import all files in folder.

I have a folder with 3460 images.  They are a combination of NEF, TIF, and PSD and xmp files.
When it was finished importing it said it had imported the 3460 images; however, there are only 3278 images showing.
I tried starting a new library, and importing the same folder again.  Again, I got 3278 images.
If I use the Finder and go to the folder, it shows 3496 files; however, 36 of those are .xmp files.
Any idea how I can check to see which files are not importing?  Or what I can do to get these 182 files in Aperture?
    Many thanks for any help.

Could be just chasing a ghost, but at least we'll know we don't have to capture it.  Let's do two things to determine how many Images Aperture thinks are in the Library.
    1.)
Select the container "Photos" listed near the top of the Library Inspector.
Clear the filter.  (In Browser view, click the magnifying glass icon _inside_ the search field, and select "Show all" from the dropdown menu.)
Deselect all.  ("Edit ▹ Deselect All".)
Expand all Stacks.  ("Stacks ▹ Open all Stacks".)
What does Aperture report in the bottom border of the Browser?  Should be something like "1234 items displayed".
    2.)
    Close Aperture.
"{option}+{click}" the Aperture Dock icon.  (Hold {option} down until the dialog shows up.)
Select your Library from the list.
What does Aperture report below the list of Libraries (you may have only one Library in the list)?  Should be something like "1234 versions, 1234 originals".

  • Lightroom doesn't import all files

I import images from my card to LR3, all the images come in except 8 to 10
images each time. This happens with either the small or large cards. Either
the cannon s90 or the d700 it doesn't matter not all the images get
downloaded? The all down load to bridge or I photo but not LR3.

If you disabled "autotone" and reset all camera defaults and are not applying a preset on import, you are probably simply seeing what is described in the FAQ:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc3d55a
This is simply caused by Lightroom being a different RAW converter than your camera. If you want a more similar rendering to the in-camera jpeg(the preview you first see on import for your RAW file), you can use the
    new beta camera profiles.
    I have a simple
example of using the profiles here.

  • ITunes not importing all files

    Hello,
I just got myself iTunes and imported my music folder inside of which all my music is located. Now I noticed it only imported some music, whilst it skipped other music. I tried to drag&drop the missing files into the library, but I doesn't work. BTW, works fine with WMP.
    Thanks in advance,
    amontimur

    Welcome to AD!
iTunes 7 & 8 are very picky about MP3 headers. Here's a good web page on it:

  • Itunes 10.2.2 not importing all files within a directory

Hello all, here is my very frustrating issue.
I am running Itunes 10.2.2.14 on a x64bit Windows 7 machine and i am having an issue importing my full library from an external USB harddrive. Originally all the music on this external drive was at one point in time completely imported and functioning in iTunes. The short version of this long story is that I moved my main personal server from windows 7 to ubuntu, after installing VM player and attaching a external HD with my music iTunes will only import 7% of my music!! I have doubled checked permissions and this is not an issue. This is also not a format issue as the mass majority of my music is .mp3.
I have cleared the music library several times, and even used another PC to import the folder and have found that iTunes appears to be importing the exact same 7% of my music library. The only article i have found that is even close to providing a explaination is page 4 on this discussion here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2566265?start=45&tstart=0
Although this workaround appears to be for a Mac, is there any way to do this in Windows/Linux?
I do not have this issue importing into Ubuntu Rythmbox. If this is really an issue of extended attributes where did they come from and why is iTunes rejecting the import with absolutely no message/errors?
This is a major bug (to me) as i am currently unable to sync the mass majority of my music, much of which was purchased from Apple!?!?!
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks.

UPDATE--> Manually adding folders (drag from explorer and drop on music libray) appears to be functioning as a work around. I have been testing individual folders and so far so good.
While this may be a workaround i have HUNDREDS of folders! =(

  • How do I set a preset in LR to import all files from my computer with a Medium Tone Curve?

I edit a file in PS, and LR informs me that the "metadata for the file has been changed."  I opt for import settings from disk (my changes), but in doing so the file is always rendered with a linear tone curve.  What I am seeking is to have the file that I've been working on PS, be with the same rendering in LR.
    Thank you,
    S

I just followed your workflow. In other words I used the "edit in" option to send an image to Photoshop where I made a significant change in the tone curve. Then I saved that image, which returned to Lightroom. The Lightroom tone curve still displayed as a linear curve. In other words it didn't reflect the changes that I made in Photoshop. However the image itself displayed the changes that were made. So apparently saving your PSD in Photoshop will not force Lightroom to display the Photoshop changes. As far as Lightroom is concerned, that is the new linear curve. The only curve adjustments you will see in Lightroom are the ones made using Lightroom.
To summarize what I'm trying to say, whatever you change the curve to in Photoshop becomes the linear curve in Lightroom. Sorry that I am so poor with words sometimes.

  • "Import folder to library function" does not import all files

Has anyone ever had this problem importing a music folder into the library? All of my music is in the iTunes music folder on my PC which is networked to my laptop. I have been trying t import that folder into iTunes on my laptop but have not been able to get everything to import.
There are approx 35,000 songs in the folder and each time I try to import it, I get a different number (Usually less than 24,000 songs).
Does anyone know if there is a size limitation to the library?

To make it go a little faster, drag and drop the folders into the open iTunes window rather than using Add Folder to Library. That way you can do multiple folders at a time.
Within Windows, CTRL-click to select multiple folders, and then drag them into the open iTunes window.
