Import an Access database?

Is it possible to import Access databases into Xcelius rather than Excel databases, or is this only possible by using Excel functions to import data into the Excel file and then use the Excel in Xcelsius?

Xcelsius is driven exclusively by Excel content. All dashboards must be connected to an Excel spreadsheet. With the Enterprise version dashboards can then be connected to any XML compliant database to dynamically refresh data.

    Is it possible to import an Access database and forms into apex

    Yes and no.. Sorry.. The Access data tables and data can be imported into the database, through SQL Developer. The forms I don't believe will be ported over. What will be created through is a set of maintenance report and form sets for each table you convert over.
    That is a good start to converting the database over, since you will probably want to re-do your Access style vba coding to use the available templates and pl/sql code..

  • Display Image imported from Access with Migration WorkBench

    Hi,
    I've imported a access database with migration workbench but can not display images aplying the same principals described in the sample appication.
    Maybe the formats are not compatible !?
    Any suggestions?!
    Thanks

    What version of Access do you have?
    What Access datatype are your images stored in?
    Did you accept the default mappings?
    Waht format are your images?
    Have you tried migrating the sample Access Northwind DB. Does this application show the images post migration?

  • Access database query import

    I have some queries stored in databases from MS Access which I am trying to import into DIAdem.  I use the open with option for the database to select the query I wish to load and then chose selective opening to grab the columns of data I really want.  It appears to import the data but only the first 27890 entries - the total is approx 750,000.  Why is only about 27890 entries being imported?

    Hi Jim,
    No, I am not sure why you are experiencing this difference in load behavior.  We tried to replicate your situation here and were able to successfully load either by selecting the whole table or specific columns within that table:
    ACCESS Table with 7 columns, each column with 560 000 values
    Tested on both a DIAdem 9.1 SP2c computer and a DIAdem 10.1 SP1 computer (clean installs)
    Result in DIAdem:
    7 channels, each channel with 560 000 values if I load the table complete
    3 channels, each channel with 560 000 values if I load selected channels
    The first step is for us to reproduce your symptoms.  Would it be possible for you to post your Access database on our ftp.ni.com/incoming server?
    How much RAM do you have on your computer?

  • Import data into an MS Access database

    How I can import data into an MS Access database form a PDF form?
    Any sample to get start I'll appreciate.
    Thanks

    To my opinion, there are 3 potential approaches :
    1. rewrite the application, that data are stored directly in the oracle database
    or the program writes flat files somewhere to the file system which are able getting
    imported from the target instance on daily basis or job driven;
    2. The "Access-driven approach" : link oracle tables into the MS-Access application
    using an ODBC-connection and build a macro in Access which is exporting the stuff to
    the target instance; in order to do so, the Oracle Client and ODBC-Drivers needs to
    get installed on the PC where MS-Access is started to start the exportation process
    (which is probably yours).
    You may then create tables in the target instance and link them from within Access
    using ODBC as the datasource
    3. The "Oracle driven approach". explained in detail here, never tried it, but maybe
    worth a look
    http://www.orafaq.com/node/60
    Basically, install the Oracle Software on a PC, configure an ODBC-Connection and start a
    Listener there;
    The target instance (which may no run on a UNIX system) is now able to commuincate
    with the local running listener on your PC which itself is instantiating a connection to
    the Access "Database" using the ODBC-Connection.
    In this way, your PC acts as a database server from the Oracle Net point of view.
    In theory, this could even work, depending on the ability to connect from the
    instance server directly to the given IP of your PC (Security ?? Hmmmz)

  • How to Protect your Custom Access Database Product - so that you can sell & distribute it?

    I'm looking for an update on this topic as I have been away from Access for a couple of years and have not kept up with the latest.
    Hopefully they have made it easier to design, develop, sell and distribute custom database solutions. So here goes...
    Question A:
    If one develops a custom database product with Access 2013 what is the current best way to...
    1 - Prevent it from being (too easily) copied
    2 - Prevent it from being (too easily) reverse engineered
    3 - Prividing a time limited free demo copy?
    4 - Providing a demo copy with limited functionality... like limiting the number of records in an important table, or whatever?
    5 - What have I left out of this list that should be considered for protecting ones investment in the development of the product? (other than copyright, of course.)
    Question B:
    What is the latest on being able to migrate an Access database to the cloud?
    1 - Entirely online
    2 - Part in the cloud and part on the users machine
    3 - And what about all that VBA code - is there no way to make that work in the cloud and/or on a web server... or does it all have to be tossed and all the coding redone?
    Question C:
    What are other alternatives solutions for selling your custom database application while protecting all your investment in developing it?
    1 - Write the front end in C++  (so that it is fully compiled) and the back end in ASP with MS SQL Server? (or alternative server side solutions)
    2 - Write the whole thing as a server side solution with browser interface?
    3 - Or what?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Fran_3,
    >>What is the latest on being able to migrate an Access database to the cloud?

  • MS Project - can you merge from a spreadsheet/access database based on task names?

    I'm wondering if it's possible to import data on certain tasks from a spreadsheet or access database. I know you can import tasks and append them, but I was hoping to:
    - Match a task name with the task name on the spreadsheet/access database
    - Update that task in MS project with information/fields in the spreadsheet/access database
    Can this be done? Thanks.

    Hi,
    In regarding the issue, my understanding is that you want to use Excel spreadsheet as database for the Project.
    I recommend you develop an import map that includes the key fields. Please refer to the link and do it step by step:
    http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/tech-decision-maker/importing-a-vendors-excel-schedule-into-microsoft-project/
    Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
    If I misunderstanding something, please let me know and upload some sample about the Excel spreadsheet.

  • Is it Possible to upload the output from Oracle reports To Access database

    Hi All,
    Wish you All a Very Happy New Year.
    I have a query.Is it possible to
    upload the output from the Oracle reports
    to the Access database???
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    TIA
    sg

    Hi sg,
    Research the DDE option.
    Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is a mechanism by which applications can communicate and exchange data in Windows.
    I have imported data into the excel spreadsheet using DDE built in functions. I am sure it can work with MS Acess as well. If not, then you need to create a 2 step process .. reports -> excel -> access.

  • Getting the table names in an MS Access database

    Hi,
    I am new to JDBC and making a client/server application that updates a MS Access database through jdbc:odbc.
    I need to get a list of existing user tables in the db. I have found a great document on the net which has the code, however the code doesn't work. I have tried different ways and looked every where with no success. (link to the doco: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/j-jdbc-objects/)
    Here is my dbManager class that handles all db related services in my application. I would appreciate any help I can get as I have exhusted all my avenues.
    Thanks

  • Help on using 2 MS Access databases at the same time

    I have a problem... see what basically I am trying to do is search for a string in the database 'cache'. if found the second colume is retured to the user as the output. but if not found in that 'cache' then it serches another datbase 'server' and when the req string is found there it has to return the 2nd column to the user but also add this new row in to the 'cache' database.

  • Query MS Access Database

    OK - I have a customer that wants to write out to an MS Access Database from Livecycle.  I know this is BAD but they have their reasons - i.e. they have a sever shortage of skills for anything more complex.
    Firstly - I created a Java program to test the JDBC ODBC connection - this worked fine - ran queries and updated OK (code is attached)
    Howver I have tried connecting to Access from within Livecycle in two different ways - both are failing
    Firstly - using the JNDI setup for JDBC ODBC e.g.
    <datasources>
      <local-tx-datasource>
        <jndi-name>MSAccess_DS</jndi-name>
        <!-- format of URL is "jdbc:odbc:DSNNAME" -->
        <connection-url>jdbc:odbc:DBFormData</connection-url>
        <driver-class>sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver</driver-class>
        <user-name></user-name>
        <password></password>
      </local-tx-datasource>
    </datasources>
    Calling this within a Livecycle process does not return an error to the process, but the log generates an error:
    2009-08-29 23:01:30,768 WARN  [org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.JBossManagedConnectionPool] Throwable while attempting to get a new connection: null
    org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Could not create connection; - nested throwable: (java.sql.SQLException: General error)
    I also tried creating a Java Component and importing it - by creating a very basic jar and importing it to livecycle (based on the same code I used in my Java testing)
    It also gave me the general error - and I can see it is happening on the line:
            Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL, "","");
    Any ideas on what is going wrong, or a workaround?  (Assuming that I have to use Access)
    Thanks
    Tim

    OK I solved this.  This was only happening on the Win2K3 server - not on my local dev instance
    On the server I set the JBoss service to run under the local admin account (in the Services Panel) - after a service restart the jdbc odbc connection worked fine.  It must have been some permissions with the system account

  • How to transfer a set of data from Excel spread sheet to an Access database

    hi,
    Can any one please tell me how to transfer a set of data from Excel spread sheet to an Access database using SQL query.I'm using java API currently. I have done all sorts of ODBC connection in administrative tools.The file is in correct location. I have done certain coding but with errors.Help me to get rid of these errors,
    Coding:*

    Connection datacon=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:exdata","",""); *//For Excel driver*
    Connection datacon1=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:stock1","",""); *// For mdb driver*

    Statement datast1=datacon1.createStatement();
    ResultSet excelrs=datast.executeQuery("select item_code,sdata,closing_stock from phy "); *//phy is the excel file*
    while(excelrs.next())
    String ic=excelrs.getString("item_code");
    System.out.println(ic);
    String d=excelrs.getString("sdate");
    double cs=excelrs.getDouble("closing_stock");
    int dbrs=datast1.executeUpdate("insert into second values('"+ic+"','"+d+"',"+cs+")"); *//second is the mdb*
    excelrs.close();
    }catch(Exception e)

    No i haven't mixed up.But the file from where i have to retrieve the data is in csv format.Even though i created another csv driver.and tried but i cud not find a solution to load/transfer a set of records from one file(in Excel/csv format) to another file(in mdb format).plz help me.Is there any other methods for this data transfer.A csv file is NOT an excel file.
    The fact that Excel can import a csv file doesn't make it an excel file.
    If you have a csv file then you must use a csv driver or just use other code (not jdbc) to access it. There is, normally, a ODBC (nothing to do with java) text driver that can do that.

  • Import MS Access 2013 tables into SQL Server 2012

    Hi there,
    Is there a step by step example somewhere showing how to import an MS Access 2013 table into SQL Server 2012?
    I have read the existing posts and don't see a definitive answer.
    I have installed MS Access 2010 engine, first 32 bit then 64 bit.
    I have installed the MS Access 2013 runtime on my server.
    I use the Office 2015 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider.
    I get the error:
    Error 0xc0202009: Source - APEntries [1]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E37.
    Error 0xc02020e8: Source - APEntries [1]: Opening a rowset for "`TableName`" failed. Check that the object exists in the database.
    The post regarding the above errors doesn't resolve the issue.
    I have full administrative permissions on the server.
    What is the trick to making this work?
    Thanks,
    Ric

    Hi there,
    I tried the exact same operation on a third machine.
    This machine has Windows 8.1 64 bit, SQL Server 2012 64 bit, MS Office 2013 Plus 32 bit.
    I am the administrator on this machine.
    I installed this:
    Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable 32 bit (because I have MS Office 2013 plus 32 bit installed.)
    From here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255
    It won't let me install the 64 bit version without uninstalling MS Office 32 bit.
    I created an MS Access database on this machine using MS Access 2013 and created a table with 3 records.
    I used the "Import and Export Data (32 bit)" from the start menu.
    After I installed the "Database Engine 2010 32 bit" driver above, I now have the option of "Office 2015 Access Database Engine OLE DB Provider" as Data Source which I did not have prior to doing this installation.
    I selected the driver and added the Properties of the Data Source Name file location of the MS Access file. I am using a blank password.
    I go thru the same sequence of selecting a table to import and after running the result is the same:
    Error 0xc0202009: Source - APEntries [1]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E37.
    "Error 0xc02020e8: Source - APEntries [1]: Opening a rowset for "`TableName`" failed. Check that the object exists in the database."
    This seems to be consistent across three machines with three operating systems with the same files and the same result.
    I understand that some people have gotten this to work.
    I would appreciate it if anyone can report an error in the above procedure to me.
    Thanks,
    Ric
