Import Audio Error Message

When trying to import audio into a Captivate 2 project I
receive the following error:
"Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file"
I have seen other posting where this is a problem in Vista
but I am running Windows XP. I can listen to these clips in the
Windows Media Player. I have also verified that they are in the PCM
Format.
How can I get this fixed? I need to have these projects
posted by Monday morning!!!
Thanks for your help!

Hi kpete1
I know you said that you are certain that the file is already
in PCM format. But just for grins, you might try clicking Start
> Run... and typing sndrec32.exe into the Run dialog. Then press
Enter. The generic Windows Sound Recorder application should open.
Open the file giving you fits. Then click File > Save As... and
note what format is listed at the bottom of the Save As dialog next
to the Format: area. You may be surprised to see it's not PCM. Even
if it is PCM, click the Change... button. And this is all you need
to do! From there, just click the OK button to dismiss the Sound
Selection dialog. Then click the Save button to dismiss the Save As
dialog. You might wish to change the file name of the original .WAV
file in case you ever need it in the original format for anything.
Give that a go and let us know if it helps. Hopefully it
will.
Cheers... Rick

  • Import rules, error message "Invalid system"

    Hi,
When importing rules under Rule Architect - Import rules, error message "VBS is invalid system" . In the configuration tab we have system  and System Name defined as VBS, test connection successful.
Why is it giving an error message VBS is invalid system? Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sri

    Hi,
Is it rule import after taking an export from other system? In that case, make sure destination system name doesn't contain any space in it.
Also, make sure text and auth Objects are uploaded for VBS system before doing rules import.

  • Audio error message on playback and P Pro CS6 won't stop playback. Have to force quit.

Hello: I'm getting an audio error message on playback and P Pro CS6 won't stop playback. Have to force quit.
Earlier in the project, I would crash when moving audio up/down tracks or up/down time line.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Mac/12 core/32G ram

That screenshot will help us figure out what's going wrong, but I won't have any news until at least July 8 because our offices are shut down next week. In the meantime, two suggestions:
Download CC and see if this crash occurs in the new version.
Google cpp-99 premiere pro audio prefetch. I got several hits, but not dig into them to see if any had a solution or workaround.

  • System Overload/Core Audio Error Message when recording/playback

Well ive been experience this problem for a while now but ive read up on it and done some troubleshooting and think i may have found a solution.
Well what happens is ill be recording say one track or 2 tracks in mono or stereo or playing back about 3 or 4 tracks and logic will stop everything and give me an error message which either says system overload or core audio overload or something. Well i figured i was overloading my cpu so what i tried doing was restarting my computer and then only operating logic as the only program. this worked temporarily sometimes but not in the long run. well i did research and came to this.
apparently its too overbearing for my Powerbook processor to record in 24 bit/96 Khz which is kind of a bummer because it was one of my attractions to my i/o box that i could do that. also freezing tracks will help greatly apparently which i have yet to try but hope will work too.
also i recently deleted about half of the stuff on my internal drive and put my 42.41 GB of music onto my external HD so now i have 54.6 GB on my internal HD which holds about 93 GB total. should this help me greatly? or will it only be a minute difference?
well any more solutions/suggestions as to what i can do to better my situation? also am i correct as to why i think i get those error messages.
ps: sorry for the uncapitalization, i got a bit lazy here
    thanks
    -Mike

    Mike,
Bit depth is more important for recording quality than huge sample rates. If you're going to change your settings, I'd stick with 24 bit, but reduce sample rate to 48 kHz.
When you say you've put all your music on the external drive, what exactly do you mean--your Logic files or your mp3/AAC files? Normally you would want to use an external drive to record onto from Logic. That way your internal HD can run the OS and Logic, while the external is free for all the fast recording tasks. (This assumes your external HD is pretty fast, and ideally is firewire.)
Freezing works wonders, too, if you're processing tracks.

  • Can't import music; error message reads, "The importer reported a generic error."

I've attempted to drag and drop multiple music files into the Soundtrack bar but nothing is working. I keep getting the same Error Message, which reads, "The importer reported a generic error." Can someone lead me in the right direction with some help?

Along with the comments by both John T., and Steve G., there have been some issues reported with both of the two, Fixed Audio Tracks, Soundtrack and Narration. I do not think you have gotten that far yet, but wanted to point out the potential for those issues. Should you get your music Imported into the Project, but have issues when you use either Narration, or Soundtrack, just use an empty "regular" Audio Track.
Good luck, and please let us know more about your music files.

  • Audio error message

Encore 1.51 gives an error message on burning a dvd of an NTSC project. It says :NTSC DVD requires at least one AC3 or PCM audio track for every tiltle set...
This suddenly appeared even though I had made no changes to the project and it had made perfectly good DVDs in the past.
More than that, the audio track is a proper PCM WAV file, so I do not know what is going on. Any ideas?
    Cheers
    David

Using EncoreDVD 1.51, I get the following error message when importing a PCM .wav file into the project as an Asset. These are WAV files exported from PremierePro paired with corresponding M2V video files.
"No audio decoder available for this stream type (DVD error -47002)"
I have reinstalled all software, reinstalled/replaced the sound card and drivers, etc. No change. This worked perfectly a week ago, and I haven't made any changes since then except reinstalling Premiere and my Matrox RT.X100 card.
    Running WinXP SP2.
I haven't found any reference to this in the Knowledge Base.
    Any ideas?

  • Import Wizard Error Message

We are using XI R2 SP3 FP3.4. I sucessfully created a biar file from my development environment. When I tried to import the biar file into my staging environment, I received an error message that the user already exists on the destination system. Only group membership information will be updated. When I look in my staging environment, I don't see the user. I do know the user ID but is there a way I can search for that and delete the user?

    Hey Lisa,
yes, you can go to the BOBJ querybuilder , usually is located at (http://yourbobjaddress:808/AdminTools) and run the following query :
    SELECT SI_ID , SI_NAME FROM CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_KIND='USER' AND SI_NAME='<username>'
That being said, if you look at the username , you can right click and select properties, it will tell you both, ID and CUID , you can delete the user using that.

  • "elastic audio" error message when bouncing

In the past I have had this error message pop up sometimes when mixing:
    Logic Pro:
    Unexpected request for audio data.
    See console. (Elastic Audio)
    (-10024)
Now with 9.1.6 I am experiencing it popping up in the middle of my bounces as well. It halts the bounce and sometimes I can hear a glitch at that point in the bounced file.
This error message seems to have been around for years, and I have just lived with it because it was a minor annoyance, but now it is a more serious issue.
    Apple are you listening?

Merge regions into one long big one, that's what I always do. That way the fades get rendered too. (Since fade in and out are not usable on flex regions, 'you'll hear a little glitch at the beginning and end if you try a fade in or out on a flexed region)
Flex gets confused when there's more than one region one the same track it seems. (booh).

  • Lightroom import images error message

I have installed a new version of lightroom onto my new MAC, and I am unable to import my images into LR.
I receive the error message...the following files were not imported because they could not be read... I am able to load the files on a 2nd mac with no problem.  I have tried unistalling and reinstalling LR, with no luck.  What is going on????  This is so frustrating.  I am an avid LR user since version 1 &2 on a PC(new to the MAC world), could it be the MAC?...., however, I cannot figure this one out??
    Thanks
    Rochelle

I know the message talks of reading, but that one sometimes crops up when the files can't be written. Make very sure that you have write access to the folders that you are copying or moving the images into. Just as an experiment, try Adding a photo from some folder on your hard disk. (Add imports the photo without changing its location.) If that works, it will strongly suggest that you need to change permissions on the recieving disk/folder.
Also, if you are writing to an external hard disk, make sure it's not formatted NTFS. Macs can read those disks, but not write to them. To share a disk between Macs and PCs, you need to format FAT32.

  • Itunes audio error message on loading iTune

I keep getting the following error message when I open iTunes "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio / video playback may not operate properly"
Sure enough audio playback is not working. I have reloaded iTunes 8 using the repair function but no change. Anyone any ideas

    Hello all.
Below is some information that may assist
    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Now go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features if it is Vista
    3. Uninstall anything called Quicktime made by Apple. If you happen to see Quick Time Alternative you will need to uninstall this as well.
*Even though it may not tell you. I advise a reboot once this is finished. Now proceed to the link below to download the Quicktime Standalone
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Make sure to download the Standalone version. Not the iTunes+Quicktime
Once this is done. Then attempt to launch iTunes. If you continue to get the same message try the following
-Full basic Uninstall of Apple Software
    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Now go to Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features if it is Vista
*Uninstall in the following order if possible as this will decrease amount of reboots needed
    -Apple Mobile Device Support
    -Apple Software Updates
    -Bonjour
    -Windows iPod Updaters
    -Mobile Me Pref
    -Quicktime
    -iTunes
*Reboot and then download and install iTunes+Quicktime
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If none of those first 2 phases work. Try the last option down below. A little more in depth but this is a full cleanup of all Apple files and folders and programs.

  • Slide Show Audio Error Message

I am getting an error message, "The selected file cannot be played because your system does not have the required compressor/decompressor (codec) installed."
This is what the adobe support says about it, "The error occurs because the file contains copy protection, digital rights management, or another mechanism that prevents it from being used outside of designated applications or devices.  To use this content in an Adobe product, you will need to obtain a copy of such content from the copyright holder or their licensee, who are able to provide the content without such copy protection."
Does anyone know how I go about getting that unprotected copy from the copyright holder to use in my slide show?

What type of file is it?
You really need mp3. If it’s a track you purchased from iTunes, try deleting album art before using the track.

  • Recovered Imported Photos Error/Message

When I recently converted back from Windows XP to MacOS I did an import of all pictures in My Pictures directory on Windows into iPhoto. Not sure what happened, but there are 145 pictures that are duplicates that I deleted, but then every time I launch iPhoto it now gives me a message stating:
"145 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?"
When I select "No" I get next:
"The photos have been placed in the folder /Users/charltonmonsanto/Pictures/iPhoto Library Recovered Photos_17"
17 being the number of times I have launched iPhoto since this started. It creates a folder every single time...
Any way to tell iPhoto to forget about these photos? I have deleted all of the folders. I have said yes to the import question and then deleted them again...

TD...I'm having the same problem, and I am new to Mac. Where do I find the Pictures folder? In Iphoto? I imported all my photos directly from an external hard drive into Iphoto. Come to find out though that maybe I should have downloaded them to a folder in Imac first, then uploaded them into Iphoto. Live and learn. Note...the error repeats each time I open Iphoto, but it's the same pic each time and for the sake of me I can't find it anywhere. Appreciate any help you can give.
