Import Bookmarks to New Computer

I just got a new Mac Mini. How do I import or transfer the Safari bookmarks from my old Mirrored Door G4?

HI,
You need a Firewire cable if your G4 has a Firewire port...
and use Firewire Target Disk Mode
On the G4, with Safari open, from the Menu Bar click File/Export Bookmarks. Save that file to the Desktop. You can then move that file in TGM to new new Mini.
After you have transferred that file, launch Safari, from the Menu Bar click File/Import Bookmarks.

  • After importing bookmarks from another computer, I have two copies of all of them: how can I delete the 'right' copy?

I successfully imported my bookmarks from my old to new Macbook. But now there are two copies of everything, listed one after the other. I tried to delete one set, but only deleted the ones organized into folders. There are still doubles of a lot of bookmarks. Now when I bookmark new pages on the new computer, it adds them to the end of one list of bookmarks but not the other and it's the list that doesn't have the folders from the old computer. How can I delete one set of bookmarks, but keep the set that it's adding on to and keep my folders?

I think in this case you need a addon:

  • Need to import website to new computer

We purchased a new computer, and from the old computer we published our website to a folder thinking I could import it when we got the new computer (the old computer is now gone without grabbing the domain file that some of the posts talk about). Is there any way to get the data from either the archived folder or from our .mac account in order to resynchronize our new Mac?
    Thanks for any help!!

    TroyDon,
Sorry for the bad news about recreating your site. Bear in mind you can drag and drop from current files as you recreate. For future backup, remember that Varkgirl has given us a great little automator app which can be downloaded free here. Use this free application to back up and store your iWeb Domain from now on.
    Emphasis on "free".

  • How do I import playlists from my old computer to my new computer.  I followed the instructions to export the playlists, but when I tried to import on the new computer the files were nowhere to be found?

I saved my playlists on my new computer as per the instructions in iTunes help.  Then I tried to import the playlists on my new computer but the files were nowhere to be found.  Found the correct directory, but not there.  my computers are connected on a network, so I don't know what I am doing wrong?  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one.

  • Synced bookmarks to new computer but thumbnail icons didn't come along.

I synced my bookmarks to a new computer but the little identifying thumbnail icons didn't come along. So now there is just a generic empty box next to each until I click on the bookmark, at which point it refreshes with the proper icon. Is there a way to get them all to refresh without having to visit each site? Thanks much.

Try using this addon [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/faviconreloader/ here]. It refreshes favicons (The little identifying thumbnail icons) by using your bookmarks.
    Reply if this hasn't helped.

  • Lost iPhoto on OSX 10.2.8 when importing info to new computer (OSX 10.4.6)

Recently bought a MacBook with OSX 10.4.6 and when I transfered contents of old eMac OSX 10.2.8 through a firewire the iPhoto application dissappered on eMac. The icon is still there and when I click on it a question mark appears. I've even gone into the system info. and cant find iphoto at all. I want the iPhoto on the old computer still so my kids can put their own pictures on it as they are not allowed to touch the new computer. How can I get the application back?

On your eMac, open the "HD >Library >Receipts" folder and move any .pkg files relating to iPhoto to the trash (you'll likely find two). Then go to the following URL and download iPhoto 2.

After installing, use Software Update to apply the 2.0.1 update (if necessary).

  • How do I fand and move bookmarks to new computer

I made a compete copy of my old firefox on my computer that crashed due to a virus. I have installed firefox on the new one (both are XP). How do I find and/or move/copy my old bookmarks to the new firefox? Thanks. Have no idea what file they are even in.

Your personal information is in the profile folder. See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile
You may also need this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
When copying data from your OLD profile to your NEW profile, copy individual FILES (some require more than 1 FILE). DO NOT copy the entire OLD PROFILE folder; it will not work.

  • New firefox sync won't sync bookmarks to new computer

I just bought a new laptop and was trying to sync the bookmarks from my old one to my new. They both are running the same version of firefox and have been using the new sync. However, when I logged in nothing happened. All my info doesn't transfer.

    Hi
    try these steps:
    Create a Firefox Sync account
You only need to do this part once. Launch Firefox on your favorite device and choose the appropriate directions below.
Sign up for Firefox Sync on your computer
Click the menu button new fx menu , then click Sign in to Sync. The Firefox Sync page will open in a new tab.
    Click the Get Started button.
Fill out the form to create an account and click Next. You're almost there!
Check your email for the verification link and click on it to confirm your email address. You're ready to go!
Now start firefox in another device and again signin to sync
    done!

  • How do I import playlists to new computer?

    Hi all
I've read through a bunch of threads.. and here's where I'm at:
I transferred my iTunes library from my old iMac G3 to my new MacBook Pro using a firewire. All the songs are now in my new iTunes folder, except the playlists aren't there. I called AppleCare and they said I'd have to manually recreate all of my 100+ playlists. My 60 GB iPod has all this music and playlists. Is there any way I could do an upload from the iPod to the MacBook? Is there any other option?
    Thanks,
    Angie

    Hi all
Thanks again for your advice..but this isn't working. I've tried it twice now. All that happens is my music is transferred, but the playlists are not. I even phoned Apple support about this and they told me "playlists are non-transferrable between computers". That's their position. I was hoping that there was some other third-party software that might help. I remember a long time ago finding something called iPod rip which helped me transfer music from my iPod back to my computer when my hard drive failed and had to be replaced, saving me from losing all my tunes.
    Anyone have another solution?

  • How do I move my current Firefox with bookmarks to new computer?

I am changing jobs and before returning my existing computer I would like to transfer all my Firefox information including saved passwords and bookmarks. How do I do this?

All the settings you make in Firefox, like your home page, what toolbars you use, saved passwords and bookmarks are all stored in a special [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles Profile] folder.Your [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles Profile] folder is kept in a separate place from the Firefox program so that if something ever goes wrong with Firefox your information will still be there. It also means you can uninstall Firefox without losing your settings and you don't have to reinstall Firefox to clear your information or troubleshoot a problem. <br>
