Import chronik from firefox to safari

hello, could you import die chronicle from firefox (16.0.2) to safari (5.1.7) on windows ?

With regards to Firefox... I have zero problem, and rare, in 10 yrs using it.
Upgrade to the latest build, works better with 10.6.4.
Inspect what you've added as far as extensions and plugins.
I would hope that export bookmarks isn't too trying!
I use Firefox to sort and manage bookmarks (non of the bookmark managers are perfect for my needs).
Force Firefox (and or Safari) to start fresh: remove all the cache, temp files, history and index and prefs (just leave bookmarks unless those are corrupt).
~/Library/Caches - Safari is in "Metadata"
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/
I use NoScript, Adblock Plus, FlashBlock only and it is rock solid and faster than any browser (though I don't care for Google's and haven't tried 6.0)

  • Run time error when trying to import bookmarks from firefox

When trying to import bookmarks from Firefox to Safari I get the following error message: "Run Time Error. This application has requested the Runtime  to terminate it in an unusual way." Safari does not function anymore and I have to close it. Can somebody help me? I am using a PC with Windows 7.

In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) there is a toolbar with the Back and Forward button and three other buttons (Organize, Views, Import & Backup).
    * The first (gear) button is the Organize button with basic edit menu items for bookmarks
    * The second button is the Views button that allows to change the sort order for viewing purposes (doesn't sort permanently).
    * The third (star) button is the Import & Backup button that allows to backup and restore a JSON backup and import and export an HTML backup and import bookmarks from other browsers.
Hover each button to see the tooltip or click each of them to see what they do.

  • Imported bookmarks from firefox

I have imported bookmarks from Firefox in to Safari that are not allowing Safari to function properly. They've given themselves folder names of "imported 2/7/07". Since I did this Safari is slow to open, it goes into not responding several times before opening. When I try to delete these folders Safari locks up totally. Is there a way to reset, reinstall or use terminal to delete these bookmark folders?

Only one collection folder should have been created, unless you selected "import" more than one time.
Because Safari is slow to open, buggy etc. one option would be to delete the existing Safari bookmark file and try the import again.
With that said, when you imported the Bookmarks, where you adding to your existing bookmarks (other than the standard Apple bookmarks), or were you starting anew? If it is the latter, go to the User Library>Safari folder and move to the trash the Bookmarks.plist file. Also, in the Preferences folder move the com.apple.safari.plist to the desktop. Restart Safari. A new Bookmarks folder is created, with the Apple Standard bookmarks.
Since this creates a new preference file, you'll need to reset your Safari preferences to your liking, plus any custom settings found in the Edit Menu (spelling) or View Menu (status bar, bookmarks bar, custom icons in the "Customize Address Bar" ).
Does Safari now seem functional? If it is, then go to import bookmarks. Here is the Finder path to the Firefox bookmarks:
    User Library>Applications Support>Firefox>Profiles>onxd8rpi.default>bookmarks.html. Select it.
Then open Safari's Bookmark Manager by clicking on the Book Icon. Once open, you ought to see the Firefox Bookmarks on the left side under "collections". You can modify, redistribute, create new folders from there. I suggest moving the folders up to your Bookmarks Bar collection, so they are accessible from the Bar.

  • How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1?

How do I import Bookmarks from Firefox 28.0 into Firefox 29.0.1? I am running OS X 10.7.5 and just updated Firefox from 28.0 to 29.0.1. How do I import my old 28.0 bookmarks into 29.0.1? I've tried all the suggestions but nothing works. WHERE are my old bookmarks? Help, please!

Your bookmarks can be imported and exported from the Library (Bookmarks Manager).
*Go to the clipboard icon, click Show All Bookmarks <i>OR</i> press Cmd + Shift + B
*Once there, you'll see Import and Backup (see screenshot), you have a choice to choose between backing up as a JSON (Import and Backup -> Backup) or HTML (Import and Backup - > Export bookmarks to HTML)
Once this is done and the file has been backed up, you can import them using the same method (Import & Backup -> Backup for JSON/Import & Backup -> Import bookmarks from HTML (HTML)
One of our awesome contributors explained the difference between a JSON backup and a HTML backup that is very explanatory:
Restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that), so if you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
You can't import a JSON backup to add (merge) bookmarks.
Importing bookmarks from an HTML file adds the imported bookmarks to the already existing bookmarks, so you may need to remove duplicates.
An HTML backup doesn't support tags and annotations, so if you want to preserve those then you need to use a JSON backup.
A JSON backup doesn't preserve the website favicons, so you need to visit a website to get back that favicon.

  • Will reinstalling safari let me import bookmarks from firefox?

I have not been able to import bookmarks to Safari, so I'm considering reinstalling safari because it is supposed to ask if you want to import bookmarks from another browser the first time it is run. Is there any way to completely uninstall and reinstall safari so that it will think it is being run for the first time?
I am running OSX 10.3.9 and Safari 1.2. Is this the correct version of Safari? If not, exactly where can I go to dowwnload the correct version?
    Thanks
    Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Always glad when I can solve someone's problem

  • I imported bookmarks from Firefox 3.6 on a MacBook Pro to Firefox 3.6 on new Mac Air. The bookmark folders all show up, but there are no bookmarks in the folders.

Using Firefox 3.6.12 on both machines. Exported the bookmarks at html and imported them as html. The import seemed to go well -- followed the standard approach. I can see all the folders in my Bookmarks Menu and Bookmarks Toolbar, there are no bookmarks in the folders. I tried re-exporting and re-importing.

You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks
Import & Backup is the third button on the toolbar in the Library that looks like a star.
You should be able to export the bookmarks via that button.

  • Importing images from Mail and Safari

Importing photos from a web-site (with Safari via contextual menu) or from an e-mail (Mail) by asking to save in iPhoto, does not work for me on niether my G5 desktop neither on my PowerBook G4. On my fathers's iMac G5 it works perfectly. Is there a spesific setting I should do for this to work?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4)

This behavior is often caused by a problem with Apple's iPhoto installer, when you're installing a newer version of iPhoto over an older one. It leaves some files behind from the old version that interfere with the import function. Try deleting the iPhoto application and reinstalling it fresh from your iLife install disc.

  • IMac G5 (10.3.9) display died. Saved hard drive as external disk. Can't import bookmarks from Firefox 2.0.0.2 to use on Mac Mini (10.4.11).

My G5 ran OSX 10.3.9 (highest functional version for that hardware). My Mac Mini (core solo) runs OSX 10.4.1.1 or thereabouts. I don't like the way any other browser works on the Mini, so I want to continue using Firefox, which was my default browser on the iMac, and I had years and years' worth of bookmarks on the iMac that I hope I don't have to rebuild one at a time. The iMac crash involved the display; the hard drive is completely functional and is in a new external drive case. The Apple Store folks said they're not allowed to work on such an old machine and likely it couldn't be repaired anyway. So, I have Firefox and presumably all its bookmarks (and maybe bookmarks backups) on the external hard drive, but the version of Firefox I copied to the Mac Mini does not appear to include any of my bookmarks, and the Firefox web site instructions for restoring Bookmarks from Firefox to Firefox don't address this older version. (I've even tried opening Firefox on the external drive and all I get is the 'clean slate' version with none of my old bookmarks.) How do I restore bookmarks from one version of Firefox to the same version of Firefox, just on a different, newer OS?

Firefox 2 versions use the file bookmarks.html to store the bookmarks.

With Mac OS X 10.4 you can use Firefox 3.5 or 3.6

  • Import bookmarks from firefox

My existing Firefox software is corrupt and I am unable to get my bookmarks from my Time Machine.  I either need to find out how to get them out of my Time Machine or import them into Safari.

Well, the best solution is to use Firefox. Did you try to delete Firefox's Preferences file ?
This is the other solution :
    - I don't know which version of OS X or Firefox you have but if you have an old version of Firefox you will find a .html file with your bookmarks in :
    Users/your user name/Library/Applications Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxx.default/bookmarks.html
if you have a recent version of Firefox you will find it in :
Users/your user name/Library/Applications Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxx.default/bookmarkbackups/bookmarks-2012-04-16.json (the date can change but it's the most recent file you should use)
    - To import them in Safari :
If you have the .html file just open Safari, in the menu bar choose File > Import bookmarks… and navigate to that file.
If you have the .json file it will be more complicated because Safari doesn't open that type of file. Do a right-click on .json files and open it with TextEdit. Now all you can do is search for http (use the cmd-F shortcut) and you will see all your bookmarks. You will have to copy-paste each one into Safari manually.

  • I can't import bookmarks (from Firefox) or Sync bookmarks using sync

    Hi
I'm on a mac desktop and running Firefox 21. I want to import the bookmarks from my laptop and so I have tried the following without any success.:
    1. Saving Firefox Bookmarks as a HTML file and using Import Bookmarks feature in 'show all bookmarks'
    2. Use sync to sync both machines.
On each occasion, using both methods, I can see the bookmark structure but only the folders seem to be imported and when I hover over the folder the message 'empty' is displayed.
I'm not sure what else I can do but it seems that Firefox will not actually import its own exported files from and identical version of Firefox: 21.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Importing photos from Firefox

So I'm dragging photos of friends from fb webpages using firefox to the doc icon of iPhoto, and iPhoto keeps wanting to import the same pictures over and over again, even though I'm only doing one picture at a time. How do I stop this behavior? It is putting them in "Temporary Items" (I think as an event).

Drag them to the Desktop or a folder on the Desktop and import from there.

  • Going from Firefox to Safari - specific questions

I'm transitioning from a PC to a Macbook, and I'm not too familiar with Apple products or softwares. I know that Safari is the native Mac browser but I'm very used to using Firefox. I have heard that Firefox is slower loading than Safari. Is that so? If it is indeed the case, I would like to switch browsers as well.
Is Safari easily customizable? Does it have third-party extensions like FF?
I like to use mouse gestures when browsing (ie. right-clicking and draging left to go back a page, pressing the wheel to open a link in a new tab, etc.). Is that possible?
Is it possible to add other search engines other than Google to the search bar? For example, a Wikipedia or YouTube search bar?
As well, though not pertaining to Safari, are mouse keys customizable? I'm used to having a button on my mouse designated to play/pausing jetAudio. Is this possible with iTunes?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Firefox takes a little longer to open the application (program), but once running, is easily as fast as Safari.
not so easily customizable as Ffox, tho yes there are 3rd party add-ons, but not such a neat way as Ffox extensions.
I don't know about mouse gestures & Safari.
Mouse keys customizable - Umm, yes, within certain limitations using apples mighty mouse - other brands, or third party software might provide the function you need.
Yes, the search engines can be changed - 3rd party app again.

  • I'm viewing this from Firefox because Safari doesn't work

Safari simply doesn't work for me from most networks. Any attempt to load up any web page gives me a "Safari can’t find the server" message. Every other browser works: IE, Firefox, lynx, even wget works. But Safari doesn't. It only fails on ethernet networks. For example it refuses to work at the hotel I was just staying in and at a friend's house. But it works at home or at a convention I've just been to because they provide wireless. Every other internet service is working fine and every other browser is fine. What does the type of network have to do with the browser? And why does it only affect Safari?

After several hours I solved my own problem. There was an http proxy set. For some reason it was only active for ethernet networks. The error reporting in Safari is dismal. It could have reported "cannot find proxy", and maybe even told me what proxy it was trying to connect to, rather than just giving a vague report that it can't connect to the host forcing me to work sequentially through every single menu option in an attempt to track the problem down. This is supposed to the the OS that "just works", not Windows.
