Import contacts via bluetooth

Hi there,
I'm trying to send contacts from LG shine 8700 to my new curve.  Does anyone know if this is possible or another workaround?  "send via bluetooth" is the only way I can export contacts from the LG.
If this isn't possible this will be my first and last BB.
thanks,
G

In another thread, I learned that there is an app to import Vcards called VCardin. So here's the workaround.
1. make sure that USB Mass storage is enabled. (Settings/Media storage)
2. export your contacts as Vcards. I did this on my Mac. It may not work on your phone and you'll need to use your computer.
3. send the file to the ZTE phone via bluetooth
4. run the VCardIn app.
5. your contacts are now in your phone
It's not the smoothest way to do it but it works.

  • Need help 2 get my new BB to receive my contacts via bluetooth from od phone!

Hi guys, I just got a lovely BB Curve today and have spent the last 4 hours trying in vain to get it receive my contacts list via bluetooth from my old phone. I have paired them up and can send to my old phone but cannot receive to my BB. My old phone attempts to connect and then it comes up with a connection failed message. I have tried all sorts: making sure phones are visibile, setting them to 2 mins ....then changing it to "yes" ...making sure devices trust connection and then asking for a prompt....taking the encryption off...then leaving it on....
I really am at my wits end as I have over 150 contacts and cannot face having to write them all out and manually type them in
I am also terrified of getting into my new car tomorrow and finding out that my BB won't pair to my in-car bluetooth set up!
    Thanks!

Not sure you can send/receive contacts via BLUETOOTH. Once the two devises are paired, then your done with the 2 minute limit and all that stuff. If each devise sees the name of the other devise, your done there. Then make sure there "connected" to each other. If not select the devise, press menu and select connect. Once that's done, your connected. Your car set-up should be just as simple. The setting about phone book entries, is for a bluetooth devise (headset, your car... things you make calls from and talk through) to have 'access' to your phone book to easily make phone calls. It doesn't copy or transfer your phone book, just has access. If your old phone has an option to "send contact via bluetooth" you'll probably have to do that for each contact and even then, I don't know that Blackberry will take it. Blackberry will however take v-cards. So if your old phone can e-mail a v-card, that would work. Blackberry can also synchronize with desktop applications like microsoft outlook and ever google mail. That way you'll have all your contacts from these locations as well. If your old phone can sync with these applications, that's another way to complete this task. This is done through your Blackberry Desktop Manager which also has a sync with other devises' so if your old phone has the ability to connect to a computer, you could try that. Many mobile phone carriers have software in their stores that help with this process and might be able to do this for you without charge.

  • IPhone ios 5 still won't send vCard contacts via bluetooth to car system

I have an iPhone 3GS and am running iOS 5.0.1.  I have a 2011 Toyota Camry with built-in bluetooth.  I see a lot of posts from people talking about the fact that the iPhone can't send vCard name/phone number contact information to a car bluetooth system.  Sending via MMS or e-mail is not an option to a car system like this.  The car bluetooth system gets put into a mode where it waits for the information from the phone.  But there is no option in iOS to send vCards via bluetooth.  This capability is something my wife's free Samsung Solstice phone can do, but my "smartphone" / iPhone cannot.  Every number I call from the iPhone, therefore, shows as calling "no name" as I can't get basic contact names/numbers sent to the car's system.  This is not a far fetched feature and many phones (free ones at that) can do this.  When will users be able to get this basic feature?  All I need is send vCard contacts via bluetooth...As I said, sending via MMS or e-mail doesn't work for a car.  I shouldn't need some app to do this either.  It should be another transport feature on the vCard export from iOS.
    Thanks,
    Michael

In order to get contacts onto your in car system, it will need to support the PBAP bluetooth profile (Phone Book Access Protocol). If it does, contacts will transfer automatically on connection. You can not transfer contacts the way you're trying to.
Contact Toyota and see if there is an update available for your system.

  • Sending contacts via Bluetooth

I can connect my Z10 to my car via Bluetooth and even transfer contacts automatically when i start the car. The problem i'm having is that all contacts are transferred, including Facebook contacts, which are relatively worthless in my car and always duplicates of what is already in my device address book. Is there a way to configure the Bluetooth connection so that only a subset of contacts are transferred while pairing (e.g., categories or groups)? This is very beneficial, and it's exactly how my BB Bold 9700 and 9900 worked. Hell, even iPhone allowed this. Please don't give my already disillusioned iPhone friends a single bragging right.

    Hey wnbb,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest hiding the Facebook and other contacts on the BlackBerry Z10 and then they will not be sent over via Bluetooth.
Follow the steps in this blog article: http://helpblog.blackberry.com/2013/04/how-to-hide-contact-accounts-in-blackberry-10/
Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • How do I transfer iPhone contacts via Bluetooth to my car

I just bought a Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 and I cannot figure out how to transfer my Verizon iPhone contacts to the MB console via Bluetooth vCard upload. Having trouble fidning a resource that can enlighten me on this.

The iPhone 4 does not support the OPP profile that is required for Bluetooth contact transfer.  So your out of luck using conventional methods.
Who knows?  Maybe iOS 5 will allow this... I know that they have improved bluetooth support, however I don't know if that includes OPP.

  • Beaming contacts via bluetooth between 2 iPhones 3GS.

Hi all, does anyone knows how I can beam a contact from one iPhone to another via bluetooth?
It was said in the keynotes presentation that it's possible.
I've tried turning bluetooth on both iPhones to ON, but all they did were searching for devices with no results.
Tried going to Contacts to send contacts, but no bluetooth sending option is given.
    thanks for reading. help appreciated!

No, you can't do this with an iPhone, and it wasn't "said" at any keynote presentation. Bluetooth data transfers to a computer or another phone are not supported at this time, and no announcements about this were made by Apple. This article summarizes the supported BT profiles in the iPhone:

  • Passport - Import Contacts Via CSV file

Just got my Passport yesterday... love it.  i took a small break from BB but now i'm BACK.. awesome.
i've exported all my contacts to a CSV file but cannot seem to find how to import them via Blend.
is there a process for this?  i have hundereds of business contacts that need to be in my phone.
    Please help.
    thank you

The best way to do it would be to import those contacts into an email account like Outlook.com and then sync that account's contacts to the Passport. Once in Outlook.com you can have those contacts on any device.

  • Send all contacts via bluetooth

    hi,
i broke my screen on my n82 I lost my datacable, and i have not been able to pair the phone with my computers bluetooth. i need my contacts, i mean ideally i'd like my files too, but they are less important.
what i need to know (and i know its a bit odd) is when i'm inside the contacts menu, what combination of keys do i need to press to send my contacts to my girlfriends phone (already paired)
example: press left soft key once, down 4 times, right once, down 3 times, navi-key, down twice, navi key
i remember the old nokia manuals which talked you through the interface with the keypad shortcuts - 5.3.1.6 = ringtones etc, if only that where still so
cheers in advance guys, i imagine the n seriers s60 o/s is very similar on all the n-models

    Hi lukeharbo
I'll give it a go but unfortunately it's never easy to give sequence of keystrokes that third party can understand:
From within Contacts Menu > Left softkey > Navi-key Down 10 (Mark/Unmark) > Left softkey > Navi-key Down 1(Mark all) > Left softkey > Left softkey > Navi-key Down 6 > Left softkey > Navi-key Down 2 > wait about 3 seconds as no tone here - you are now on more devices and if your girlfriend's phone is top of the list - Navikey Down 1 - wait 3 seconds > left softkey and you are connecting. If there are other Bluetooth pairings however they would be further down the list.
    Good luck!

  • How can you sync your contacts via bluetooth to a sony in car media centre

i need help, does anyone know how to bluetooth your contacts to a in car media centre with iphone 4?

If syncing contacts from a Cloud service or a supported application on the computer, remove the groups there.
There is no functionality for the user to initiate sending contacts in iOS.  If the head unit support PBAP, the contacts sync automatically when connecting to the head unit.

  • How to send contact via bluetooth?

I just purchased a vehicle that has handsfree bluetooth capbility to use my iPhone. I got the thing to call but my question is, how do I transfer my contacts from my iPhone to my car?

Not possible as the iphone does not support the bluetooth protocols to do that   It does support HFP (hands free) and PBA (phone book access), which allows another hands free device which supports PBA to look at and use the iPhones contacts while the devices are paired.  But the iphone's contacts cannot be transferred to another device by bluetooth (iPhone has never been able to do that).

  • Transferring contact via bluetooth

    Hi all,
I just bought a new nokia E66 phone and trying to transfer all my contacts from the old phone (nokia 6300)to the new or at least to my computer by bluetooth but I couldnt figer out how to do that with the nokia 6300.
if anyone can help me with that i would really appreciate it

Best to use cable or Bluetooth and PC Suite to backup 6300 to the computer and then restore to the E66. Or use the Switch application from your E66 - somewhere in the Tools folder...
    Check that guide:

Its a tried and tested method
Get a laptop/pc with bluetooth and install the latest nokia pc suite on it.
Now contact ur phone i.e. by pairing the bluetooth or by data cable.
Once connected u can open ur phone brwoser thru my computer and there u can see the phone memory/memmory card.
Now see where ur contacts r and then copy all the contacts on pc as a VCF File.
Then simply connected E66 and copy the same on the memory card/phone memory.... and the job is done......(the phone must be connected in Nokia PC Suite Mode)

  • Importing contacts into Bluetooth car

Hi, I bought a new car today and the dealer said there could be a problem of duplicating my contacts from my iPhone 4 into my car
with Bluetooth . Has anyone experienced problems?
    Thank you for any help..

    Jeff,
The iCloud version seems to be a lightweight. I tried, and couldn't get Contacts to go directly to iCloud iWorks. You can drag contacts to OSX Numbers, copy the table, and paste to iCloud Numbers. I suppose it would be easier to leave the Contacts in OSX Numbers, Save to iCloud and Open in iCloud Numbers Beta.
