Import deleted mail problems

Hello I have tried importing the mail that I have lost on my work computer and when I finish importing the mbox, it is empty. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas or do I have to accept my loss.
Thanks

I have 3 email accounts and 2 are working on my Macbook Pro (Lion and Mountain Lion), but one account keeps showing "offline" and I can get it to show "online".  Settings are the same as on my Air, and the Air (Lion) works fine with all three accounts.  Had everything working before doing some reinstall efforts.  Now mail is screwed up again.  (I am a Eudora lover and this isn't helping me love Mail...)

  • IMAP client, delete mail problems

    Hello all,
    I am on GW2012 and for a while now I have been having this problem.
    Anyone, whether using Apple, Android or any other device/client, that connects to the 2012 GWIA to check mail, if they delete a piece of mail, it is simply striked through and not deleted. It will look deleted on the IMAP client/device, but when one looks at the full client or web client, the email that should have been deleted only has a strike all the way through it. It never deleted until it gets deleted in the full or web client.
    Is there a setting somewhere in GroupWise that is causing this to happen?

  • Problem importing javax.mail.*

    Hey,
    I just installed the Java JDK 6 update 16 (windows platform). I am not able to compile a sample code that used the javax.mail package. I am not able to get past the
    import javax.mail.*;
    line. The compiles says "package javax.mail does not exist"
    I tried separately installing the JavaMail 1.4.2 API and setting the classpath to the mail.jar file as suggested in the readme.txt for this API, but I still get the same problem. Anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi! I see you've answered similar problems before - but nothing seems to be working for me.
    My OS is Vista. I installed the JDK 6 update 16 just yesterday. I'm using the command line javac.
    I can see the mail.jar file in this folder: C:\Sun\SDK\lib\ and I've set the classpath using : set classpath=%classpath%;C:\Sun\SDK\lib\mail.jar
    When I type set classpath at the prompt, I can see that the classpath has been set correctly.
    Please help!

    opps.  Long title there... The past few days my Mail app has started downloading multiple copies of e-mails from all pop servers.  This is only happening on my Macbook not other macs.  Deleting mail from server does not help. I ran ClamXav found 2 viruses deleted those.  Checked for software update and installed suggested downloads.  Problem still contintues.  Any suggestions?

    Folks,
    even after having repaired the inbox folder under "properties" a few times, I still had some e-mails where the contents are different from the subject line.
    In other words in the inbox there are two e-mails: one with subject line "abc", and another one with subject line "def".
    When I display the e-mail with the subject line "abc", the contents are from the e-mail with the subject line "def" in the in-basket.
    What else can be done to correct this problem?
    Thanks and best regards.

  • Import javax.mail.* problem ...

    I have added the line 'import javax.mail.*;' to the top of my program and got the compiler error 'Package javax.mail not found in import'. I have since read through loads of similar problems on this forum and have tried the following :-
    Downloaded jaf-1_0_2.zip and javamail-1_3.zip from the Sun site, unzipped them, and placed mail.jar and activation.jar onto my PC. I have added these .jar files into my classpath and re-booted my PC. However, I STILL get the same compiler message and it's doing my head in! Do I somehow need to add the .jar files into my project? Or am I just being very thick? I am developing using Visual Cafe 3.0. I am using JDK 1.2.2.
    I am quite new to this and I have not even started to code the e-mailing method yet - I'm simply trying to get the import working.
    Any help would be much appreciated and would mean I can sleep tonight!
    Thanks in advance.

  • Import javax.mail not found problem

    I have downloaded the most recent mail.jar and activation.jar files and have created a library w/in JDev called javamail and have added these jars to that library. I have also included this library in my ViewController Project. The problem I am having is that the following imports statements are not found by JDev:
    import javax.mail.Message;
    import javax.mail.MessagingException;
    import javax.mail.Multipart;
    import javax.mail.Session;
    import javax.mail.Transport;
    import javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress;
    import javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart;
    import javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage;
    import javax.mail.internet.MimeMultipart;
    When I open up the mail.jar I can find all of these classes, so why are these imports not being recongnized?
    I have also tried import javax.mail.*; to include everthing and this does not work either.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this issue?

    Try to add the J2EE library - which is predefined in JDeveloper- to your project's libraries.
    Worked for me.

  • Help! I've "permanently" deleted a bunch of important e-mails!

    I deleted a "Blank" folder from my archived e-mails, and went to clear the deleted items from the archive. A separate folder full of important e-mails was also deleted. It there a way to recover "permanently" deleted e-mails or
    am I out of luck?

    Yes, you can easily recover your permanently deleted emails from Outlook at FREE of cost by following just simple steps:
    • Make a duplicate copy of Outlook PST file
    • Open Hex Editor
    • Open PST file with Hex Editor from which you want to recover
    emails
    • Delete the position 7 through 13 with the space bar. In
    the Hexadecimal system, this process actually deletes 13 characters at the following positions:
    00007, 00008, 00009, 0000a, 0000b, 0000c, 0000d, 0000e, 0000f, 00010, 00011, 00012, 00013
    (When you clear a position using spacebar, the editor displays the value "20" each time.)
    or
    • Select the value start from 07 to next 13 values. Go to
    » Edit » File
    Selection » Ok
    • This action will replace all values to 00
    • After clearing these positions, save PST file. Now, you
    have corrupted PST file.
    • Run scanpst.exe tool
    • Browse corrupt PST file and scan
    • Repair PST
    • Now open PST file and check deleted items.

  • Problem in deleting mail with iOs 7

    My deleted mail pops up again after I have tried to delete it. What should I do? I have iOs 7.

    Deleted mailbox is checked.
    I don't have the same problem with my PC. The delete function also works well in webmail. The problem might thus not be with the operator. A strange thing is that some emails can be deleted but some not. Can you help?

  • Problems deleting mail from MAC

    For the past few weeks (not everyday) I have had trouble deleting mail.
    The message is"
    Message could not be moved to mailbox "trash iCloud"
    The IMAP command "UID Copy" failed for the mailbox "inbox" with server error:  Mailbox is busy
    I have also had trouble just moving mail from the inbox folder to other folders on my Mac.
    At first I though it might be a cloud problem, but it has been going on too long!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Deanna

    I am suddenly having the same issue in mac mail. Giving me an error message "email name cannot be moved to the mailbox null" "Destination mailbox null does not allow messages to be moved to it" I have no idea what mailbox "null" is. This just started happening a day ago... Any suggestions?

  • Problem deleting mail on iPad 2

    I can't delete mail on the iPad 2; trash won't accept mail I want to delete. 'Anybody got some advice on this?

    Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
    If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app via the taskbar : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    And another option is to try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then select the account on the right-hand side of that screen, select Account, then Advanced, Deleted Mailbox, and under On The Server tap the 'Trash' folder so that it gets a tick against it - then come out of that series of popups by tapping on the relevant buttons at the top of them and then see if you can delete emails.

  • Mail problems won't go away! Help!!!

    At first, I tried dragging messages that were marked "not junk" from the junk folder to the inbox. It used to work. But then, they would disappear. Then I noticed that all of my sent messages were marked as junk. Now, I keep losing sent messages. I'll click on the sent messages folder and I'll see messages that I just sent dissappear. They are there for a half second and they're gone. I often don't know if the messages were sent. The drafts folder will sometimes keep messages even though they were sent. Or messages will reappear mysteriously in the drafts folder.
    I tried the routine of trashing certain files/folders in the mail/library/home folder. That never worked. I tried getting rid of a lot of messages in my inbox and sent messages. I was at about 3000 in my inbox and I'm down to less than 600. Then I tried the trashing certain files/folders in the mail/library/home folder again. It didn't help. I called apple support. They could not solve the issue but recommended an archive & install. I tried that a few times. It seemed to help for a day or two then it was back to being weird. I then tried trashing all files and folders having to do with mail in the home library and system library folders and doing another archive & install. Again, it helped for a couple of days but the troubles have returned. The are still some files somewhere that keep track of my .mac info. Because even when I trashed everything I could find having to do with mail, and did an archive & install, the mac still remembers my .mac account and the email addresses that I have written to in the past. So, maybe those files, whoever they are, are causing the problems.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Your problems are caused by data corruption within your home folder. Reinstalling Mac OS X preserving your data obviously cannot fix that. And if you have a .Mac account and have .Mac synchronization of Mail settings enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, getting rid of the potentially corrupt files won’t work either because Mail will restore them using the (corrupt) synchronization data stored on the server.
    Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
    The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
    After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, proceed as follows:
    0. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    1. Go to System Preferences > .Mac, disable .Mac synchronization of Mail settings, and reset the synchronization data currently on the server.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/. Move (not copy) the entire Mail folder out of there, to the Desktop.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop.
    4. Open Mail and set it up again from scratch. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and check that everything works fine.
    You’ll have to re-configure all your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. If Mail works fine now, and you had any messages stored in local mailboxes, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import your mail from the old Mail folder that’s now on the Desktop. Import the Mailboxes folder first, then the POP-username@mailserver account folders, if any.
    As a result of doing the above, some messages may be duplicated now. Andreas Amann’s Mail Scripts has a Remove Duplicates script that may help to fix that.
    Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move the messages anywhere you wish and get rid of the imported mailboxes afterwards.
    If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
    Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Horrible, irresponsible default setting for Thunderbird re: deleting mail from POP server

    Yesterday I downloaded and booted an ISO of Linux Mint 16 because I was curious about the current state of Linux and whether it would make sense to finally switch from Windows. The OS booted and ran without any major issues and seemed generally well-polished.
    Then I ran Thunderbird and did a quick setup of my POP3 e-mail account (provided by GoDaddy) using the default configuration, which I assumed would be appropriately configured for someone who wanted to give Thunderbird a test-run. I waited a few minutes while Thunderbird downloaded all the e-mail messages from GoDaddy's server and then I spent some time poking around with the program. Seemed fine.
    Unfortunately, I did not realize until after rebooting my system into Windows that Thunderbird was configured by default to delete all my e-mail messages from the server upon download, and I was shocked to find that I could no longer access my old messages via my Android phone. That's several months worth of important e-mails that Thunderbird unceremoniously wiped from my mail server without so much as a warning.
    This is a horribly irresponsible way to configure Thunderbird's default settings and I'm sure I'm not the only person who has gotten burned in this manner. Needless to say it has soured me not just on Thunderbird but on Linux in general as a desktop OS. As an attorney I frequently need to review previously-read e-mail messages in my account and your mail client's default settings have caused me a major inconvenience. I strongly suggest that you alter Thunderbird's default configuration to leave downloaded messages on the server in order to avoid upsetting users in the future.

    Thank you for your suggestions, but I had booted Mint directly from the DVD and had not installed it. I was simply testing it out. Thunderbird was remarkably easy to configure - I just gave it my e-mail address, name, and password and it figured out the rest. But nowhere did it indicate that it would remove downloaded messages from my mail server by default, hence my shock and dismay.
    I sincerely hope that somebody within Mozilla will acknowledge that this is a problem and change the default settings.

  • Trouble deleting mail

    Why am I having trouble deleting some email, especially  from advertisers. Mail program tells me it cannot delete and then I have to force quit the program to get out of it.

    I hate Lion.  Why does the same mail have to into so many folders.  Mail in "Important" deletes fine.  Mail in Spam deletes fine, its only "All Mail" I have problem with.  No matter how often I delete it and no matter how many I delete at a time, it always come back.  I did what you suggested but it hasn't helped.  THis morning all the mail was back again.
    Any way I can ditch Lion and go back to Snow Leopard?
